  1. Vidic says:

    What ??? De Gea ?

  2. Vidic says:

    RvP ?

  3. Vidic says:

    Combination of experience and inexperience.

  4. bertiebirdman says:

Great to see Chicarito get a start. Best of luck to Buttner and let’s see if Evra now snaps out of his poor form.

  5. Vidic says:

    Scholes 700th app.
    Rio’s 400th app.
    Giggs’ 600th league app.
If United win Ferguson’s 600th league win.

  6. Costas says:

Well to be fair, after DDG was axed for a mistake that wasn’t even costly, it would have been criminal if Evra started this game. I am still against the decision to bench DDG, but I hope we stick with Linde for a while. The constant rotating will turn those two into Carroll and Howard pretty soon.

Can’t complain about Valencia, RVP and Kagawa getting benched. The internationals took a toll and we have Liverpool coming up..

  7. Colbert says:

Great to see Buttner start. Is RvP on the bench at least?

  8. DEVILisRED says:

an eye on wednesday definetly. Good enough team to do the job.
    Come on United!!

  9. Costas says:

Nice to see Anderson’s big comeback is going well…

  10. Colbert says:

Hahaha! Yes, Anderson is surely done at United.

  11. Proverb says:

De Gea still dropped. Subs: De Gea, Evans, Valencia, van Persie, Cleverley, Powell, Kagawa

  12. Brooka says:

Giggs and Scholes in the same side? Didn’t think that would (or should) happen again but there you go, should still have more than enough to dispose of Wigan.

  13. Zibbie says:

Costas before he goes SAF will redo his MF ! 1 CDM and 2 wider side players with 1 or both able to drift inside as well

  14. Proverb says:

Yeah tom cleverley and anderson done at united ;)

  15. Andooo says:

    This will not end well

  16. Costas says:

    @Colbert

Wasn’t in the squad for the Southampton game either. Now with Fergie’s recent paranoia about keeping injuries a secret, that could very well be the case here. Either way, whether it’s an injury or just the fact that Fergie doesn’t have faith in him, I don’t understand why we didn’t sell him and look for a new midfielder. It’s early September and it’s same old same old.

  17. Colbert says:

Powell on the bench again. Nice to see. Hopefully we can get a comfortable lead so that he can get some minutes on the pitch.

  18. Proverb says:

    Haha kidding
    But andoo surely
Two consecutive games not included, nowhere near the subs
    I kinda agree with colbert

  19. Vidic says:

Anyone who wants to watch the match it wil be shown on Setanta Sports 1.

  20. Colbert says:

    @Costas

Agreed. It’s so bizarre. For the last four years he’s basically been a non-entity. I would sell him in January.

  21. Costas says:

    @Zibbie

Don’t know about width (we still have Bebe remember!), but yeah, another CM would be nice! Basically it’s Carrick, Scholes and the two golden oldies at the moment.

  22. Zibbie says:

SAF has said he is working on giving up fewer goals. Rafa Rio and Vida look set for a while (Jones ans Smalling out) that is good news. Wigan will attack. Leaving space to counter. Come on Lil Pea !!!

  23. Red Robin says:

    Come on you Butt…ner :D

  24. Proverb says:

Bebe is very row, but give a slight chance infront of goal, I bet he would bury 90% of the chances presented at him

He needs to work on his all round game to make it here. A loan spell in any english premierleague team can do him wonders
I still hav faith in him

But andoo, my oh my. Dropped in two games
Surely that doesn’t smell good for my liking

  25. parryheid says:

Extremely happy with our back Five, not so with most of the others.Haven’t seen the bench yet but know there are Two players who combined will barely last 60mins.

  26. NIgerian Red says:

Considering Wednesday’s game, it looks like a good enough set up. If more energy is needed in the middle, Cleverly can be called upon and if more firepower is needed up front rvp can join the party else, i say leave them on the bench so they will be well rested for wednesday.

  27. Zibbie says:

In the US there is a free FoxSoccerPlus week going on if you get that! You can watch the game.

  28. Vidic says:

Strength in depth is an understatement.

  29. as says:

goodbye ando, but still do not understand why DDG, AV,RvP, Tom and Valencia are only on the bench?!?! 2 of them should be in first XI

  30. Zibbie says:

Kebab in the last 2 years SAF tried hard for more width, Sanchez, Hazard, Lucas???

  31. Proverb says:

The bench looks stronger than the starting line-up
This is depth, the mid week game influenced the line up IMO
    Wellcome to hell wigan

  32. Ash says:

Sorry to say but this is not the team I wanted to see. Giggs and Scholes both starting is not a great thing. I may be bashed for this but It seems Sir alex Wants the milestone thing to happen.
De gea dropped is not a good thing. Linde is a good keeper but de gea should be number 1. I hope we don’t screw it up.
Great to see buttner start. Congrats to him , giggs,Scholes and Rio

  33. Dela says:

I’m not worried. I think Fergie is thinking ahead here. Internationals took a lot out of players, not just from injury scares but from travel. So let this team take on Wigan, it should still be easy enough at OT. I’m sure we’ll have firepower on the bench if we need it. All I know is I want a full force line-up for Anfield

  34. Zibbie says:

I have found out all Man Utd players can play, so why worry or have trepidation before a game, it is a waste of energy. I wait for the 85 min to freak the fuck out, get sick about the 70 th minute.

  35. Proverb says:

No @ash you aren’t going to be bashed
Me too thinks the starting line up looks awkward

    Welbeck on the left again

  36. swapnil says:

    wow…..am I dreaming?????no evra???????

  37. ididnotzeeit says:

And SAF does my fantasy line up in again :( Baah!!!

Roll on lads, can’t wait, feels like it’s been months since footy.

3-1 to the good, Welbeck, Scholes, Chicharito on a cross from Buttner 8)

  38. Proverb says:

Picking sir alex’s starting line up is more difficult than winning the lottery

  39. Hans says:

Not the line up that we expected but this should be good enough team to beat Wigan. An early goal would help a lot.

After Southampton match Fergie said DdG would return for this match. I wonder what made him change his mind?

  40. Colbert says:

    Nani and Chicharito to score.

  41. andromeda says:

Well considering the complex schedule in the coming days I won’t blame Fergie for the selection problems. The positive is that both RVP and Kagawa are fit beside the new face Buttener who will certainly be a great prospect..let us all hope for a positive first half and an entertaining finish in the second although it won’t be easy with a Latin minded club like Wigan!!

  42. Colbert says:

Giggs and Scholes are legends, but it is a bit sad that we’re still so dependent on them. City lines up with Yaya Toure and Garcia (who may turn out to be shit, who knows) in midfield today. Teams aren’t afraid of us anymore. Just a little pressure on our midfield and we crumble again and again.

  43. iced earth says:

    great line up
    anderson?????????????

  44. Proverb says:

Man Utd vs Wigan – a new rivalry.” Fuck off MUTV.

  45. King Rooney says:

What a shit team, giggs, carrick, scholes = bad news.

Sick of Fergie playing these 3 thinking it works.

  46. Zibbie says:

hahaha ok we lost already, fucking wurms.

  47. KR says:

We have a seriously crap midfield

  48. KR says:

What a shit team, giggs, carrick, scholes = bad news.

Sick of Fergie playing these 3 thinking it works

  49. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

like the line-up get a first taste of buttner today. Hopefully he plays very well.

  50. Proverb says:

Good to see Buttner make his debut. Hopefully he can be just the competition Evra needs to kick start him again

  51. evisu says:

SAF resting De Gea for the CL..? Otherwise i dont understand. He is much better than lindegard. This is pissing me off.

  52. Proverb says:

Kk mind keeping the negativity to urself?

  53. LUHG says:

that line-up is a litlle surprising but fergie want to preserve the internationnals, in the bench. anyway it’s not a bad line-up and we have to score very soon. Come on UTD !!!!!!!!!

  54. Vidic says:

    Kicked off !!!

  55. markynorbs says:

    Come on United!!!

  56. jeseryman says:

D lineup is ok.i think saf is resting rvp, valencial, clevely etc 4 champions league

  57. Red Robin says:

I guess DDG, Ando, Clev, Kag, RVP all is kept for Champions league match. And not to mention that the dippers game is comming next week. Definetly not the stronger team against Wigan, but this will test how bold is our team now.

  58. Vidic says:

    Pen !!!

  59. LUHG says:

No penalty but we take it !!!

  60. Vidic says:

    Nooooooooo

  61. Vidic says:

    Pen saved

  62. LUHG says:

    Fuck off !!!!

  63. Georgejoseph says:

    Doggy penalty any way

  64. DEVILisRED says:

    No penalty. Justice done
    Come on United!!

  65. Costas says:

Ah, fuck it. Wasn’t a penalty anyway. Come on United.

  66. evisu says:

    Another shitpen

  67. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Justice was served. Not even CLOSE to being a penalty but damn what a chance.

  68. Georgejoseph says:

I think welbeck Chica will struggle today

  69. Mahesh says:

Could have done with an early goal – dodgy pen though…really really poor penalty, although al habsi is terrific at dealing with pens…

  70. Proverb says:

Can we fucking convert a penalty this season.

  71. Mahesh says:

Sometimes you just need to hit the ball intending it to stay hit…

  72. Proverb says:

Evra will get the kick in the butt – ner he deserves

  73. Proverb says:

United effectively playing with Buttner as left back and left winger. Giggs almost always central. No pressure, Alexander

  74. Proverb says:

Man City 1-0 down away at Stoke – Lets see how the Champions respond.

  75. utd_fc says:

Chicharito does not deserve to make it past halftime. Not only is he anonymous he also cost us a potential goal. Dunno why Giggs or Welbz didn’t take it.

Welbz playin like a beaut tho. Should hopefully score

  76. DEVILisRED says:

This buttner’s a brother of nick butt? Similiar style, Never blink when going into a tackle….

  77. Georgejoseph says:

    We lack penetration

  78. bbqbod says:

i like Buttners confidence and skills

  79. TonyBee says:

who is on our bench today…..

  80. Proverb says:

    Berbatov scores vs westbrom

  81. Mahesh says:

Buttner only positive for now – otherwise very pedestrian, casual, and generally lacking any sense of penetration. Is hernandez playing at all?

  82. Mahesh says:

fucking Nani – hit the bloody ball!

  83. Proverb says:

    The bitters equalise (garcia)

  84. Red Robin says:

Viva Ronaldo.. Lol. It won’t happen guys.

  85. orez says:

Two mid table teams slagging it off. Very poor quality of football and arse are demonstrating to us how you are supposed to treat promoted nobodies.

  86. Hans says:

We need to move more quickly. We are over complicating things!!!

  87. Dela says:

Buttner interesting watch so far, but as a defender we can’t jump to conclusions yet, but I do like his enthusiasm. We’ll win this, the Dutchman will fly off the bench after an hour if we dont score by then.

  88. Hans says:

    We are living dangerously!

  89. Georgejoseph says:

Nani is poor looks disinterested. Welbeck and Chica not good enough.

  90. youCANTbuyTHISfeeling says:

How impressive has Buttner been so far??!! The one big constant weakness (Evra/position) hopefully a remedy now. nice!

  91. DEVILisRED says:

    *yawn*

  92. Joffrey Barathron says:

I just knew we was going to struggle as soon as I saw the line up. Don’t know how serious Van Persie and Kagawa injuries were but if they weren’t then why are they not starting? Nani has been quiet again and that chip attempt was bloody awful, never convinced he was going to do anything out of that situation.

  93. Georgejoseph says:

We are the new arsenal . No RVP no goals

  94. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @Georgejoseph
Wait.. What? Welbeck is the only player that looks interesting on the pitch, just because he hasn’t scored doesn’t mean he’s not good enough. Geez

  95. Proverb says:

Berba scores a second for fulham

  96. LUHG says:

    We need our “substitutes” !!!!!!!!

  97. Mahesh says:

Painfully boring! at OT…wake the fuck up!

  98. AntiScouser says:

    One word will suffice: appalling.

  99. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @Georgejoseph
Stop complaining man, seriously. Last seasons we scored more goals on the second half. Where were you? supporting leeds?

  100. Hans says:

This was very very poor for United at home!!!!! Too slow, lack of final killer ball, to many sidewasy passes.

I hope we do not regret that penalty miss!

  101. Marq says:

No energy from the middle of the park again….

  102. bbqbod says:

typical united viewing init! sort of in control of the game but never really creating many chances. really boring to watch.

  103. Norman-85 says:

I see that Fulham have unearthed a gem of a goalscorer – some guy by the name of Berbatov – maybe Fergie should have a look at him…..

  104. Marq says:

    Berbatov having a good game

  105. andromeda says:

Now its obvious welbeck-chicarito combination doesn’t and won’t work, I think its time to make some changes….Valencia, Kagawa and RVP should make the difference in the second half.

  106. Redial says:

It’s saddening. But we are playing drab football atm. I hope SAF give some of the lads a kick up the butt they more than deserve.

  107. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

It’s easy to look back isn’t it. Why don’t we focus on what we have and support them instead?

  108. Hans says:

    Berbatov scored twice!!!!!

  109. Georgejoseph says:

Welbeck is not in the same class of RvP, or Rooney or Berba . Lots of effort means nothing.

  110. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @andromeda
And sacrifice them on the long term? heck no!

  111. Proverb says:

When the bench contains more spark than the starting line up you know you’re trouble

  112. Mahesh says:

Funny looking back how Chicharito and Welbeck consistently kept Berbatov out of ever featuring for United.

  113. Colbert says:

Tame. Welbeck and Buttner our best players. Don’t know what Nani is doing. Seems like he has no confidence or drive in his play. Hernandez offering very little too. Giggs and Scholes needs more and better movement ahead of them to create something. At least we’re more solid defensively than in the first three matches. But we won’t win this without help from the bench.

  114. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Meanwhile Berbatov has smashed in two for Fulham. SMH. We have to get going quickly.

  115. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @Georgejoseph
Of course Welbeck is not in the same class of RVP. How old is RVP and the amount of experiences he has on his belt anyway? Now old is Welbeck?

Stop blaming our players for a second, we are frustrated with the performance so far but you forgot we had this issue even with Rooney up front last season. So stop the blaming game please

  116. ronnykeano says:

cant afford to lose points today. hope we’ll nick a goal against this ‘mighty’ opposition

  117. Adamcy says:

very slow, lethargic performance. rvp and kagawa need to brought in to up d tempo.

  118. Georgejoseph says:

At fulham they will play to berbas strengths . He will score plenty of goals for them.

  119. Costas says:

Taking a while to get going after all the rotating. I hope we click better in the 2nd half.

  120. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

Can we stop with Berba’s love seriously? he’s not our player anymore.

  121. NIgerian Red says:

Has anyone seen Carrick in this game? He seems to be anonymous. He’s younger than Scholes and Giggs so i expected him to be very active in the middle and actually boss this WIgan midfield around. As for Nani, i wonder if his heart is still here

  122. mufcmyreligion says:

    @George Joseph
R u even watching the game??? Welbeck been one of our better players first half!! If all fans were like you who’d need ABU’s??!!

  123. Red Robin says:

Chico & welbz just need a little “nice chit chat” from the boss. :) one of them will score, no worry.

  124. Redial says:

Buttner’s been good. However I’m praying he doesn’t get a second yellow. Been throwing some hard tackles, that lad.

  125. Proverb says:

If the back 4 is fixed fine by me
The goals will we are more than capable of scoring

  126. Hans says:

It is a shame that we cannot use matches like this one to rest key players and still get a result comfortably!!!

I remember one time when we used to squeeze teams in their penalty as soon as match started and kept them there until we scored. I so miss those high tempo matches!!!

Why are we playing boring games like this?

  127. mutusamy says:

our left or right back are caught out of position during counter, Carrick got the ball in the final third ran out of idea and tried to side step the defender but at slow mo speed got dispossessed, Nani couldn’t even force a save from the keeper not sure what to make of it.. at least it should be a better 2nd half

  128. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @Proverb:
    Agree!

I’d rather not take any risk on RVP and Kagawa. It’s better to make them fit for next week two games than risking them with a long term injuries.

  129. Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson says:

How anyone can be complaining about Danny is beyond me. He’s been terrific so far.

  130. Redial says:

    Come on REDS!! Get In!!!

  131. Georgejoseph says:

Let’s hope for much improved performance in the second half

  132. Mahesh says:

Arsenal seemed to have signed our former player own goal as part of the rvp deal!

  133. Proverb says:

Anyone interested Half-time: QPR 0-0 Chelsea, Man United 0-0 Wigan, Stoke 1-1 Man City, Arsenal 4-1 Southampton
    The saints scored 3 times

  134. Proverb says:

Anyone interested Half-time: QPR 0-0 Chelsea, Man United 0-0 Wigan, Stoke 1-1 Man City, Arsenal 4-1 Southampton
The saints scored 3 times mind you

  135. Vidic says:

    Scholes

  136. Vidic says:

    Scholes

  137. LUHG says:

    Thank you scholesy !!!

  138. Proverb says:

    And berbatov 2-west brom

  139. LUHG says:

good work from carrick and nani

  140. Adamcy says:

    Goal Scholes

  141. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Thank you lord for giving us Paul Scholes.

  142. Gofu says:

    Well done by Carrick

  143. WeAreUnited says:

THISIS WHAT NANI CAN DO FOR THE HATERS

  144. TonyBee says:

    Bout fucking time n’all

  145. Vidic says:

    Nani playing much BETTER

  146. Redial says:

Nani seems fired up now. GET IN NANI!!

  147. mufcmyreligion says:

    How unlucky Welbeck!

  148. Proverb says:

    Thank gosh
The blog will spoof the negativity thank u the ginger prince

  149. LUHG says:

    a 2nd goal would be welcome !!!!!

  150. Traffordlord says:

I just pulled Scholes out of my fantasy team last night…sheesh. The Ginger prince ghosting in- briliant.

  151. Zino says:

What a spell of crunching tackles!!!

  152. Proverb says:

Ha this fans who slate chicharito for missing a penalty are quiet now that we scored
    Fucking wankers

  153. Adamcy says:

i have to say Carrick and Giggs are having an off day, they should be subbed to boost d midfield.

  154. Dela says:

That spell of tackles was epic! Wouldnt see it often in other leagues, would have been 3600 degree tumbles on the ground for them.

  155. Mahesh says:

Nani must have got a real hairdryer treatment!

  156. TonyBee says:

chico taken put …no card …fucking ref blind or what…the cunt

  157. Hans says:

We are giving the ball away far more than we have too!!

  158. Proverb says:

Paul Scholes scores on his 700th appearance for Man Utd. A priceless legend
Now you understand why fergie says he’s hard to replace

  159. TonyBee says:

    2nd goal would be nice……

  160. LUHG says:

yeeees the break is done !!!!!

  161. Proverb says:

That’s his 115th goal for Man Utd!
He always appears to pull a performance out of nowhere when the team is in need. An absolute legend, the ginger prince

  162. TonyBee says:

    well fuck me ….and a 2nd goal comes….

  163. Dela says:

That lad has needed that goal so badly!! Come on Pea Shooter! smashing timing! Respect for Buttner too!

  164. mufcmyreligion says:

HAHAHAHA!! Chica shuts a few of you up!!

  165. Costas says:

Told you. We needed time to click.

  166. Hans says:

    This is fucking better!!!

  167. TonyBee says:

    a 3rd goal would be nice……..

  168. ididnotzeeit says:

I believe I predicted Scholes to score and Chicharito from Buttner…..if Welbeck puts one home I’ll be fucking scared

  169. LUHG says:

It’s good to see chicharito to score

  170. Red Robin says:

    Chico!! I have told u.. ;)

And where is all Büttner doubters now?

  171. Proverb says:

Paul Scholes scored on his 1st appearance, 100th, 200th (an OG), 300th, 400th, 500th and now 700th. Amazing.

  172. TonyBee says:

who is on our bench Costas…?

  173. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

    @GeorgeJoseph
Would like to hear that famous “welbeck and chicarito are not good enough”

  174. ididnotzeeit says:

Hahaha, good on ya kid, what a debut!!!!!

  175. Vidic says:

    Buttner

  176. Dela says:

    What a fucking goal!! Wow!

    BUTTNER BUTTNER!

  177. Gofu says:

    Fuck yes!

  178. TonyBee says:

    fuck me……and a 3rd goal comes….

  179. LUHG says:

who the fuck is this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  180. TonyBee says:

    a 4th goal would be nice……..

  181. Marq says:

    Buttner

    1 Game
    1 Assist
    1 Goal
    1 Yellow Card

Evra got a real fight on his hands now

  182. Costas says:

    So long Pat. 8)

  183. Adamcy says:

Really impressed with Buttners display on his debut, an assist and a goal

  184. Red Robin says:

Oh man, now Buttner scored! I’m in Manchester heaven.. :)

  185. Red Devil Canuck says:

    Great goal for Buttner!

  186. thedonmassawe says:

Evra be afraid! Be very afraid!

  187. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

ALEXANDER BUTTNER IS A FUCKING ANIMAL!!!!! This dude has like fifteen lungs. Never stops running. WHAT A DEBUT PEFROMANCE!!! Evra take notice. Fantastic performance from him. Good job Alex.

  188. 3RedStars says:

Nice knowing you #3. Best of luck.

  189. Proverb says:

Chicha still can’t believe he was onside.
    This buttner looks freaking good

The team is fired up now

  190. Gofu says:

Butter, the man is a work horse. Fantastic.

  191. Traffordlord says:

So its settled then Buttner is a United quality player..GET IN son!!!! Evra this is your cue to start sweating buckets, step it up there’s another contender for LB.

  192. mybloodismetal says:

    OMG..Buttner is on Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiireeeeeeeeeeee

  193. Costas says:

    @Tony

DDG, RVP, Powell, Evans, Valencia and Kagawa from what I can remember.

  194. orez says:

Good goal from the new guy. We should have killed poor Wigan ealier, but it’s good to see that even with 4 of our Top players out we can still do it.

  195. Redial says:

    What the fuuuuuuuuuucccck!!! Buttnerrrrrrr!!!!!

  196. Vidic says:

Wonder goal from Buttner to cap an impressive debut. Left back position well and truly up for grabs!

  198. Sonneveld says:

Who would have been surprised to see a left footed Dutchman score and assist today?

  199. TonyBee says:

    thanks Costas………

  200. orez says:

Honestly happy to see RVP in and another debut.

  201. mybloodismetal says:

he comes on…he comes on..come on lads, lets make it 5

  202. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Should not have brought on RVP the game is already sealed. Should have just rested him for wednesday. Please no injuries.

  203. TonyBee says:

fucking Giggsy want some of that Grecian 2000…to stop the grey showing……..

  204. Proverb says:

This buttner is as good as he can be

    Evra beware

  205. parryheid says:

The hole down our left hand side is plugged and would you believe it by a Dutchman.Great stuff Buttner what a debut.

  206. LUHG says:

Clean sheet will be nice too !!!!

  207. Costas says:

    @Tony

I have more grey than him and I am 10 years younger.

  208. Hans says:

This is surely the beginning of the end for Evra, as great servant for the club as he has been!

    Well done Buttner!

  209. Zino says:

Tony, could have been 4, if not for rvp’s miss….

  210. Red Robin says:

One more goal will be nice :)

  211. gazzer says:

Buttner definitely belongs. Like the haircut too. Don’t fuck with him

  212. Costas says:

    Powell!

  213. Red Robin says:

I wonder where is GeorgeJoseph and Mahesh now?

  214. Dela says:

Old Trafford debuts are working wonders this year…

    RvP scored on OT debut.
    Kagawa scored on OT debut
    Buttner scored on OT debut
    Powell scored on OT debut

    Henriquez next :P

  215. Traffordlord says:

You wonder about Danny’s decision making there but take a bow son Nick Powell…Welcome to Old Trafford!

  216. Gofu says:

Wow. What a day to be a flag.

  219. LUHG says:

    What a goal powell !!!!!

  220. TonyBee says:

Nani you selfish cunt…wellbz wide open on the left….

  221. Zino says:

    And there you have it!!!

  222. Marq says:

Powell looks good. Up for a long pass and has a good shot which we all know. Has good height too

Clev & Powell the future midfield pairing

  223. Mahesh says:

    What a finish.

  224. ryan7 says:

gettin’ our GD up!! I feel like powell could offer some things we have been lacking in the CM like height, power, and GOALS! one to watch for sure.

  225. gazzer says:

I hope it’s not the beginning of the end for Evra. One of my favorite players still. To see him Lord it over Suarez after we beat them last year – priceless! He loves and fights for this club the same way Gary Neville did. I’d much rather we ease in Buttner. No need to kick anyone out the door just yet.

  226. Proverb says:

Lets score 5 like last season…

  227. JC says:

Buttner and Powell with absolute DREAM starts for their Manchester United careers long may they continue.

  228. TonyBee says:

Liking what i see in this young lad Buttner….not afraid of getting stuck in and fit as fuck…..

  229. TonyBee says:

well done Wellbz …..taking a yellow for the team….. cunt made a meal off it anyway the foot missed by a fucking mile….mind you if it had connected ,,,,, straight red….

  230. AntiScouser says:

A game of two very different halves. Wigan got their annual battering, too.

  231. orez says:

Really good debuts, from new boys, but the seasoned players were kind of average. Nobody was too bad, but Welbeck put himself into many good positions and nothing, Chicha did what he does absent from the game but scores a goal. Good result though, we needed it.

  232. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

LOL at the look on Evra’s face when Buttner scored. There’s competition now Patrice. LOL. The thing that stood out to me about him is that he is EXCEPTIONALLY FIT. He can run for days without stopping. Not afraid to get stuck in. His recovery is fantastic when he loses the ball and of course he awesome going forward.

  233. Marq says:

Good results elsewhere as well. Good weekend

  234. Costas says:

Good second half performance. Buttner and Powell giving the manager plenty to think about.

  235. Traffordlord says:

Safe to say Buttner is ahead of Fabio- especially with fitness, played all 90 mins at full blast and didnt bend over or blow once!

  236. Zino says:

Someone on here called city and chelsea dropping points…. Superb call!!!

  237. WeAreUnited says:

Thank you United, and what a second half, Buttner was great but so was scholes and carrick.

Now we have 2 good leftbacks.

Nani was decent in the first half and the second he was ABSOLUTE great.

Chicha made the mistake but got a goal, and then started playing well.

Giggsy was giggsy and powell made a great debut, for th goal and some passes even the game was over.

Wellbeck, well he played well, moved well, but decision making wasn’t that great, he lacked the character, Ok display, nothing bad, And Van Persie came just to show us, he is a United player now haha.

  238. Zibbie says:

Perfect time for Powell to come on for his debut !!!!!!!! SAF puts his lads in a situation to succeed!!!

  239. EricCantonaToldMeToTweet says:

I really hate when a fan starts blaming players when a game isn’t even finished. Filling up this blog with stupid accusations. When a player like Welbeck scores, he’s football next big thing, but when he doesn’t score (or hasn’t scored yet) he’s apparently not good enough for Manchester United. When the team isn’t clicked yet, this type of fan starts comparing us to the like of Arsenal who hasn’t even been in top two for years.

One word for you, grow up as a football fan. Change your username and start over.

  240. Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson says:

Buttner man of the match, no doubt about it!

  241. JC says:

Not sure what game you watched mate but Nani was at his frustratingly best again, made busting runs, beat his man for pace and/or trickery and then blasted a shot wide by a mile or launched a cross that was well off except for the 1 time. Not going to get ahead of TonyV or get a new contract playing like that my boy.

  242. WeAreUnited says:

Well don’t mind about those fans, cause in the heat of the game everyone has his time to get angry,

after all We are United and we have to playe every second like Manchester United. and we demand alot,

but I do agree with you EricCantonaToldMeToTweet

for me Welbz is United Quality, he is young, so he has to mature, but for the f sake, he plays for engalnd, he is local and he is a good player and young, so stop slating him, his time will come.

    thank yoo.

  243. Strik3rr says:

great fkn game, amazing debuts, keep it up!

  244. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Zino that was me yesterday #blowingmyowntrumpet LOL. I had a feeling they would.

  245. WeAreUnited says:

I don’t know JC, but in the second half, he created chances, got ahed of players and did everythoing well, maybe he didn’t get a goal but for me a good play from him.

I don’t wan’t to start comparing, cause of course if Valencia plays like he plays, then he will start right and nani left, so no worries. he will not take his place yet, we do need 2 good wingers, and we have them :)

    so peace .

  246. Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson says:

    @orez

Chico was hardly absent for the game, as you say. Yes, he did screw up on the penalty, but he was active and involved today.

  247. WeAreUnited says:

and they say, if you don’t shoot you don’t score, so maybe his time will also come, (Nani=)

  248. Ash says:

Great Day for united fans. Buttner deserve some praise. He looks like a great signing. If ypou guys don’t know then you shoud know that I have huge expectation with Powell. He is one for the future. When we were 3-0 up I was eager to see powell make his debut and that happen and he also scored a goal. Definitely one for the future.

Well played boys. Now let us beat Gala. Let us welcome them To real Hell. :)

  249. TheCANTONA says:

    FUCK POGBA VIVA POWELL!!!

  250. WeAreUnited says:

yeah Pogba is forgotten and I hope he watches this game, and realize how you should respect the great SAF and agree with him, he will give you the chance! and he did the same with pogba also,

pogba played some games but he didnt want to stay. so yeah.

  251. FletchTHEMAN says:

Alex Büttner and Nick Powell scoring on their debut!!!!! Get in!

Paul Scholes scoring on his 700th appearance. OMG!!!!!!
My son: “He’s pretty good isn’t he son.”
Me: “Yes son, he is at that!

    Get in United!!

Got to agree with the sentiment on Nani. Not his day. Nani was frustrated and frustrating to watch. Welbeck was passing off for the better shot, aka Nick Powell. Nani was chipping with the wrong foot. Hope he finds his head, but oy me. Both Nani and Evra are going to be pissed about how it went down today. Büttner did 100X better than Evra did no his first start. And that isn’t even counting the goal.

Pleased about the 2win. Chuffed about all the goals, especially for Scholes.
But I am most pleased about the clean sheet. More of this please. More of this!
That said, Wigan weren’t even close to taking their chances were they.

  252. TheCANTONA says:

BUTTNER LOOKS LIKE A BEAST! full of energy for 90 minutes wonder whats evra thinking right now??

  253. TheCANTONA says:

i must say some of matchday posters here are quite disgusting. why dont u moaners just support the club instead of slating them? and YES i look at u georgejoseph who went AWOL when we starts scoring goals….

  254. georgejoseph says:

@ cantona didnt go AWOL lost my stream and desperately trying to find it.

  255. NIgerian Red says:

@TheCANTONA, i had even forgotten we once had a brat called Pogba that thought he was the future on Utd to shipped off to a white and black stripe bench in Italy. Powell seems like he will do very well and hopefully can partner Cleverly in the middle to do all the damage required to beat the opposition.
He seems smrter than Gibson but sure packs the same fierce shot Gibson has.
I cant wait for the FA and League cups to start, then we can begin to see all the Man Utd players in action, im sure even Ando and maybe Bebe will get a chance then

  256. Proverb says:

    The blog buzzing
Great spirit that’s how it feels to be a united fan and them teams dropping points adds the spice
I’ve got to say Buttner was absolutely beasty today…hopefully his great debut can also help Evra get back to his best.

  257. FletchTHEMAN says:

Game would have been an end to end party if Giggy was given that penalty chance. As it was, Wigan got a bit of belief and United had to battle the first half. Thank the gods for Scholes. Settled and did the job for us again.

Bet it was a like walking on air for Büttner and Powell may the dream continue for both those fine lads.

The United way lads. Give youth a chance and see what happens!

  258. TheCANTONA says:

    @georgejoseph:
well u got questions from another posters to answer…

good performence but we need more focuse we can improve
buttner man of the match without doubt exellent going foward let s see his defensive abeleties
despite he missed the penalty i think chicharito did ok his all round game improved he will score important goals this season
    nani welbeck did well
thank good fletcher is back i think we are short in the middele
    where is anderson?

  261. Proverb says:

United wont score with out RvP they said… Bollocks!

I really wanted to slap this match day posters today
I wish they blog more often

  262. Ash says:

Hernandez needs run of games then see how he score goals. Hernandez has a good eye for goal. Don’t be surprised if he ends the season with 20+ goals.
As for welbeck goes boy is young and is still learning. Dopn’t compare him with other strikers. He knows how to play he just needs to score goals. No need to put pressure on him. Let him play for his club Manchester united and for his country.

  263. iced earth says:

    thank god

  264. Jrdonl says:

Great saturday..i thought kagawa wil light up utd bt atlast some value for money in terms of powell and buttner..livpl we are coming…lets see what rodgers got

  265. TheCANTONA says:

    @NIgerian Red:
HA! did u know some posters here slated Fergie when Juventus played Pogba on some meaningless friendly games? they think its all fergie’s faults. heck they must be forget if the old willy fox got a lot of experiences in nurturing young talents….

  266. Adam says:

I’m happy we walked away with a good score and of course the 3 points, and even better that Chelsea/City dropped some. Strange goals though, we’ll take it for sure, but still. Was hoping we’d produce at least one play that culminated in a great finish by one of the boys, but the keeper spill, the cross that made it in somehow, etc. Some random stuff there, we still need more fluidity.

Agree on Buttner – plenty of energy – a bit too much dribble for my linking hanging onto the ball at times way too long, but I’m guessing he was trying to impress and as far as stamina and not being afraid to go forward and take on a man he certainly did. I agree about not just dropping Evra.

Was REALLY excited to see Powell come on, and the strike was great. I was waiting all game for a good strike on goal (at least a few attempts) Wellbeck needs to take more shots on goal when he’s anywhere near. I find it frustrating to see him continue to run into 4 defenders right in front of him.. I guess it’s part poor decision making, part lack of confidence for a strike when he’s right outside the box?

Nani – oh boy.. definately not his day. Was hoping for him especially to get 2/3 attempts on goal when he cuts inside, but it wasn’t his day at all today.

  267. oz says:

arsenal 6 southampton 1 .rvp lol.as for welbeck should be called whalebeck as he he dives like one.

  268. Zibbie says:

Ash me as well Big Powell fan and he meets the 5/6 British rule. And he is good enough talent for any top club!! BIG SIGNING!

  269. Marq says:

Welbeck did well actually. The only thing that sticks out is that there were 2 or 3 occasions he could have released the ball earlier, but he choose to dribble into a crowd. But that’s the common trait of young upstarts, so he will have to learn.

  270. TheCANTONA says:

LOOK AN ARSE FAN!!! BEEN LONG HERE SINCE THE LAST….

  271. denton davey says:

Ash @ 17:09: “Buttner deserve some praise. He looks like a great signing.”

After he was signed, the comments made by so-called “experts” was that it was a surprise since he was rated as the 4th/5th-best left back in the Eredivisie – those other guys must be FanFuckingTastic, eh ?

  272. TheCANTONA says:

  274. Marq says:

    @Denton

That comment was made by a scout who used to work for United. He got ditched. And looking at Buttner’s performance today, no wonder United ditched that scout

  275. TheCANTONA says:

    @Zibbie:
when was the last time an arsenal fan trolling on this blog? i forgot, must be a long time ago. funny eh, they won 6-1 and suddenly think they’re best team in the league…

  276. Ash says:

Arsenal fans are Jumping with joy but As usual they will fall down hard. Some people never learn.

  277. Red Robin says:

Great display from Nicky & Bütt. :)

Anyway I just notice from the commentary that its bootner not butt as in butt.. I freakin love this guy! :D

  278. denton davey says:

Adam @ 17:41: “as for welbeck should be called whalebeck as he he dives like one.”

According to the rules of the game, it was a penalty – Al Habsi might have pulled his arms out of the way but there’s no question that his legs scythed DannyTheLad. No dive.

On the other hand, I’m no fan of the ‘strict’ application of the rule whereby an attacking team is awarded a penalty even though the scythed-player is running away from a shooting situation. Clearly, in this instance, DannyTheLad was not in a scoring position but he was inside the box.

What I’d like to see is some sort of direct free kick from the spot where the foul occurred – these situations don’t get awarded enough but when they do there is tremendous excitement, which is much more exciting than a straightforward spot-kick. Of course, that will never happen but the fact remains that the penalty-award is far too draconian for what is often “incidental” or even “meaningless” contact.

  279. TheCANTONA says:

still waiting for “(Quick) Reactions” thread from STR. COME ON Scott buddy u got plenty to write about!!

  280. Ash says:

Fabio Got subbed of early in the game against Chelsea. It seems his injury is never over. He needs some run of games at QPR if he has to play regular here.

  281. denton davey says:

Adam @ 17:41: “Nani – oh boy.. definately not his day. Was hoping for him especially to get 2/3 attempts on goal when he cuts inside, but it wasn’t his day at all today.”

Yeah, his shots-on-goal weren’t up-to-much but that little lifted pass he sent to DannyTheLad in the first half – which Welbeck volleyed just wide – was a real touch-of-class.

I’ve always thought – and written about it here – that there are great similarities with SirRyanGiggs and Nani; not in terms of style but in terms of “consistency”. With both of these guys you get both incredible highs and incredible lows which is, I think, evidence that they’re both willing to think outside the box and try high-risk/high reward activities. You get both the rough AND the smooth with them.

  282. georgejoseph says:

    sunderland 1 nil haha

  285. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Its quite refreshing to come onto ROM after the game. To see how people change comments so instantly, over two halves of a game.

    Oh well.

There’s one thing in my head booming in my head after this game- Buttner. I’m sorry Pat,I love you, but you have some serious competition here. A great debut for Buttner, especially in terms of attack. Fantastic stuff there. Very nicely surprised, i guess its cos i hadn’t heard about him earlier, and had not much expectations.

Glad to see Chicho on the score sheet. And our big time Ginger Prince legend! And goodness me, Powell. 2 Debut goals today-my life can’t get better at the moment. Just a tiny weeny sense of pain that RVP didn’t score. Heh. Okay i’m just being an idiot.

And the two money trees drew. Dear Berba scored a double. 1 point away from the top. No injuries. Very very satisfying week.

  286. Vidic says:

    @ King of Stretford
I’m feeling that pain too

  287. Colbert says:

Great second half. Büttner was good throughout. I thought it was a bit strange that Fergie praised him, but that he also said he was rash. Maybe he said it to keep him grounded after such a spectacular debut.

Worried about Nani though. He got better in the second half, but he’s back to the Nani with poor decision making skills. His body language seems off too.

  288. United Till I Die says:

Delighted with the result. 3 wins and a loss isn’t exactly proof of a crisis is it? Ending the game unscathed was almost as important as not dropping any points. Losing Cleverley at Bolton before the Liverpool game last season springs to mind.

Alec picked the smartest 11 to beat Wigan without incident and they were lucky to still be level at half time. Hernandez had a good match and deserved his goal and assist, and Powell looks like he could reach the dizzying heights of Fellani. Buttner also looks like yet another bargain buy, so all our new signings have looked promising so far. Step up Henrique!

  289. United Till I Die says:

Speaking of Buttner, its a bit premature writing off Evra init? All our RB’s are injury prone (inc RedNev the pundit) but how many other LB’s have we had in the last 6 years? Sod all, because Paddy is a fucking machine and he’s been first or second best in the world since way back then. Its not easy finding steady talent to replace him at a huge Club like ours and even then, he’s 31 not 36 so its daft to write him off. He could return to form and still walk into any top side at LB or LW, including United.

As for the EPL’s most hated Brazilian, we’ve got Turks, Scousers, Geordies and Spuds coming up before this month ends so don’t be too surprised if you see him on the team sheet for those games. So far he’s played 90 minutes in 4 games of football and put in a good performance against Fulham – thats really not bad for a lad coming back from long term injury. The main thing will be keeping him fit for most of the season and I wouldn’t be surprised if thats what we’re doing. I expect the same kid glove treatment for Kagawa and Cleverley, and they’ve both only played 1 game and 30 minutes more than Anderson.

Hardly a fucking gulf is it?

  290. United Till I Die says:

One other thing all games are not created equal fellas! I was genuinely relieved to see Scholes, GIggs and Carrick start as a CM Trio today because thats what the game called for. But against the big boys playing Carrick with Ando, Cleverley and Kagawa will be the way to go imo. They might not be my first choice against a side like Wigan, but against Chelsea, City or Arsenal they have the skill and engine to keep up for 90 minutes, and Scholes and Giggs can still influence big games off the bench. Whether we win the League this season depends on our manager selecting the correct players, and he rarely gets that wrong.

Rotating players is the future for big Clubs anyway. Fair enough a lot of United supporters might not like the constant upheaval and drama it brings but at least it gives the journo’s something new to pontificate about!

    Laters RoM.

  291. Adam says:

    @Colbert says:
“Great second half. Büttner was good throughout. I thought it was a bit strange that Fergie praised him, but that he also said he was rash”

    - I think it was a fair assesment imo. and not odd. He’s got the drive, the stamina, but definately raw.
tbh, I was a little nervous with him around the penalty area, as he seems so explosive and unpredictable at times. He is yet to show us what he can do against tough oppositition charging at him defensively, so let’s not be too quick on dismissing Evra.

  292. mara says:

Buttner was great but i wouldn t judge him as GREAT, after one game..
I want to see us against top 5 from last year.even we all know that we win or lose championship against small teams…
but…i would love to see Pobga stayed with us…but it is what it is…we have Powell and wish him and Buttner all the best…

  293. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

We’re not done with Paddy Evra yet…plenty more in the tank, until his attacking abilities diminish…he has his place at United.

Bootner is a great prospect but it’s his first season, he’s far away at the moment from being a suitable like for like replacement.

Powell didn’t do much but the shot was great and everyone ooh’d …great way to spark your name up .
