  19. Utd4life says:

Cleverly and Welbeck in the starting line up..That says a lot about SAF’s confidence in the youngsters..

  20. The Fly says:

Anyone else watching MUTV right now? Paddy Crerand doesn’t look well at all, actually concerning.

  21. RedAllTheWay says:

Evening all sorry for not being around my brother and his fiancee got engaged today so of course I was at a do as they say ;)

All good all happy and here’s to more happiness to us all

MG bows to his RED family

The shirt is not built on revenge nor does it act to right any wrongs. It merely is a simple pure symbol of unqualified and unparalleled defiance.

forgot to mention that Patty Evra is God

  24. smartalex says:

    Great starting line up.

  25. shebangsthedrums says:

The Fly – Yeh I’m watching, just thought he’s looking like he’s caught the sun, maybe too much of it. Could have a bit of heat stroke?

  26. Jim says:

  31. willierednut says:

We’ve offered Sneijder a contract. Up to him now. Stop being a drama queen, Wesley. Sign, or fuck off.

  32. smartalex says:

    Did Dimi make the bench?

    Just kidding.

  33. nasirjones says:

anyone got a site for the match, having trouble gettin one…

  34. mark says:

we’ll lose this game, because we have carrick, worst player in United history. actually we’ll lose every game against barcelona because we don’t have midfielders. carrick, anderson, gibson aren’t quality players and can not handle a game like the style of Barcelona. Ferguson wake up, you kill us with carrick.

  35. CedarsDevil says:

I hope the young Barca players taking part will savor the moment, its every day you get the chance to play the mighty Manchester United

    C’Mon UNITED

  36. Redslevin says:

Is the game on espn????Is the game on espn????

  37. The truth says:

    When is the kick off?

  38. Costas says:

Carrick isn’t even starting and I never knew he was worse than Djemba Djemba, Liam Miller or William Prunier.

  39. CedarsDevil says:

    NOT every day…………..bloody hell

  40. MG says:

    Evening Cedars Costas Utd4life

Thank you all for your best wishes I promise to share them on!

    Cedars

Can’t leave you Cedars all be it we have opposing Sneijder wants ;)

    Costas

Certainly Costas once a red always a red though it shall be fun since we are marrying into an extended family of gooners and spurs! No matter the dark side shall persist in true Paul Scholes style within the future reds

I have to go thanks again my good friends and here’s to a good match

    19

  41. The Fly says:

All Sneijder has to do is say yes, which he will. And there is no way we have offered 250k a week, not a chance have we done that. I said the clubs were talking last week, Twitter is never wrong……… Now all he has to do is meet with us and sign the fucking dotted line. Yolanthe will love Manchester.

    3-0 tonight. Bold prediction, maybe.

And with Paddy Crerand it probably is the heat, but I just thought he looked a bit too unwell.

  42. King Eric says:

Mark. Carrick isn’t even playing you clown.

  43. Costas says:

    @MG

Ah, I am confident your brother’s light will outshine the darkness of that family. Goodnight mate.

  44. DKB07 says:

  49. smartalex says:

    Don’t group yourself as ‘us’

You are not a United supporter.

  50. willierednut says:

  57. Colbert says:

  58. King Eric says:

  71. leftback says:

  79. King Eric says:

  80. leftback says:

Anderson is protecting & distributing the ball well in the middle.

  81. Costas says:

Didn’t take long for one of our 3 full backs to get injured hey?

  82. Redslevin says:

1000 passes but no Messi to score!1000 passes but no Messi to score!

  83. leftback says:

  93. Balaji Sivaraman says:

How good is Welbeck? Color me excited at the prospect of him playing more games this season.

  94. Aliyu naabba says:

Pls pals what is the scores ?Pls pals what is the scores ?

  95. Red New Yorker says:

    Nani goalll

  96. AlphaRS says:

Just waiting for the Barca players to start diving around and surrounding the referee now….

  97. leftback says:

    Cleverley seems to be MIA

  98. T4M says:

    Nani!!!! :)

  99. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Hm maybe we’ll get it third time lucky today.

  100. leftback says:

  101. Utd4life says:

    Get in Ashley Young..

  102. Manchuchu says:

    Break that biscuits leg

  103. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

I’m so proud of Cleverly at the moment he’s really bossing the midfield, go on Tom

  104. shebangsthedrums says:

    Doesn’t feel like a friendly!

  105. Utd4life says:

Fabio is playing like a beast at the moment..

  106. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    Here we go.

@Dre.FU, Yeah, the nervousness from a couple of matches ago does not seem to be bothering him and he has really settled into the game. He looks really comfortable in possession and has a very good eye for a pass. Again, color me excited.

  107. AlphaRS says:

United need to keep the ball better when they win it.

  108. slim says:

that affelay fella plays too much fifa games

  109. Legolas says:

Hey! u guys r so lucky. Dimi also has a score to settle with Fergie n against Barca!! so excited! keep us updated guys! Nani de best in de world! Lol
    @Smartalex. mate u so smart!! r u for real, or a software??lol

  110. slim says:

game has got a lot of bite, tasty.dare i say we look awesome. Come on United, really enjoying this

  111. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

    @Balaji Sivaraman

I was thinking the exact same thing, and friend the only reason he was rusty in Chichago was because he hadn’t had a game to settle in, he was just kinda thrown in which isn’t good ,and our ”fans” we’re on his back already saying he’s and i quote ”over hyped & over rated” some ”fans” eh, i always knew Tom had it in him and even if we do sign Sneijder i think he will still flourish.

  112. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Following RoM is wayy better than a live stream

  113. The Fly says:

    sell Welbeck buy Ngog

  114. Red New Yorker says:

    @ KingOfStretfordEnd
    I definitely agree :)

  115. The Fly says:

we are the best team in the world

  116. keano99 says:

How the fuck is anderson a footballer never mind playing for us? One footed tubby fucker we payed 18 million for that

  117. FletchTHEMAN says:

LOL Paddy doesn’t know who Kobe is.

  118. smartalex says:

Nani is on fire! Showing what he would have done to Barca.

  119. oneloveoneunited says:

    haha netball player?

  120. Colbert says:

Well, that was fun. I think Barca are merely ‘good’ without Xavi and Messi.

  121. FletchTHEMAN says:

Can’t believe all the diving from Bacra, what a bunch of c*nts.
    1-0 well deserved.

  122. shebangsthedrums says:

Decent 1st half from the Reds, lets keep it up lads. As talented as they are Barca have to be the softest team in the world, even more than Arsenal.

  123. parryheid says:

Not seen any failures good work out this.

  124. manutdisadream says:

haha yeah Fletch, “is he a netball player?” cracked me up

  125. RedMan says:

Our boys are in great shape already, they are faster and stronger than barca

  126. Utd4life says:

Awesome 1st half..Ando and Clev have done alright, haven they? Nani’s playing like a man possessed but the player that has really impressed me the most is Welbeck..Keep it going Danny Lad..

  127. The team that wouldn't die says:

DISGUSTING the way Barca players roll over dead for nothing! Even in a friendly they do it. Are they training for the next CL finale?
Ok, I know they miss their two best players. But still, we are the better team!

  128. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Dre. FU, Amen to that my friend. I am part of the wee Wes clique obviously but if we aren’t able to tie a deal for him and Tom develops as he has been touted to, then I am definitely OK with that too.

What the fuck is Kobe doing here BTW? The things an NBA lockout will drive basketball players to do.

@AlphaRS, “United need to keep the ball better when they win it.” Even for a friendly, some things never change, do they? I think that has a lot more to do with how we go about our games than any real indicator of who is better. By definition, because of the amount of passes they string together to get from back to front, they are bound to have more possession than any other team in the world barring the Spanish national team. That is why I keep saying to everyone I know, “Possession is over-rated.”

  129. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Kobe, wasnt he the pilot from Airplane. Didnt he keep calling Leslie Nielsen Shirley.

  130. Legolas says:

got a gut feelin, got up from bed and unbelievably de match is on live down here on our of local stations in Ghana!!

  131. smartalex says:

legolas. I am the voice in your head that you’ve been trying to locate. Let me out!

  132. The team that wouldn't die says:

Welbeck is playing like a man. Involved when ever there’s something dangerous.
Again, Barcacunts obviously do acting lessons as a part of their educatuion. DISGUSTING!!!!!!.

  133. AlphaRS says:

All the diving is pishing me off….

  134. smartalex says:

    Surely you can’t be serious?

I am serious, and please stop calling me Shirley!

  135. Colbert says:

Giggs! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo!! He never plays well against Barca.

  136. The truth says:

Wow. How good is Nani? He is being the MESSI of this game, lol. Really impressed with his performance thus far. Rooney on the other hand is slightly off tempo. Young, although willing to defend, must deliver the ball better to the attackers. Ando has been good, lucky not to be on a yellow, but doing well to disrupt their momentum with his tackling and interceptions. De gea looks comfortable. This is the first game I see him play for United, YES I was impressed with his display in the U21s tournament I just didnt think he would looks this settled in. Every time he kicks the ball up, I dont get this fear that he will somehow mess up and concede, which is how I felt whenever Foster received the ball… :)

    2-0 to united, hopefully.

    GO ON UNITED.

  137. shebangsthedrums says:

    Hope Owen gets a goal.

  138. manutdisadream says:

owen, giggs and smalling warming up. any one know whos coming off?

  139. MrKirie says:

Barca playing keep-ball but never actually accomplishing abything is boring. Busquets is a diving cunt, even in a friendly! Love evans’ little roll-around after villas’ challenge, nice impersenation :)

Welbeck looks fresh, ando has done well and as ever, fabio doing well. Rooney looks a bit mopey though

  140. Dave Mack says:

    Anderson and Nani looking great!

  141. willierednut says:

Hope Avon defeats Marlo. Could go to the wire…

  142. The team that wouldn't die says:

We need to slaughter this ARROGANT, DIVING, ACTING, WE-KNOW-BEST-FUCKING-CUNT-TEAM! Not only today, but every time we meet them in the future.
Manchester United should not be 2nd best.

  143. smartalex says:

    Any news on Rafael?

  144. Costas says:

    Get the Berb on.

  145. torontored says:

Not a bad first half – all their stuff is back<looking for the opening< which ain't there (Thanks to Welbeck/TC Ando) good covering, cutting out space real well – the twat on their left ilooks dangerous but we seem to let him be covered one on one by by Fabio so must be part of the game plan

Rooney as the out and out striker has me bemused – but does not Welbeck look good sitting deep- does not Nani look good – a few good smacks as well – Young to his credit got up after a nasty one – they will now start going down after a whiff of a tackle – hope the ref has his specs on

    COME ON YOU REDS

    UNITED 20/4/12 – 2012

  146. manutdisadream says:

    @the team that wouldn’t die

    SPOT ON!

  147. keano99 says:

Fergie has pulled the plug on the snijder deal because of his wage demands and he thinks anderson is gona be our main man? I trust fergie but iv never seen any evidence of anderson being scholes replacement

  148. Utd4life says:

Owen again?? C’mon SAF, give the Berb a chance..

  149. smartalex says:

Lets nail-gun these barcstards in the second half.

    Come on United!

  150. WHAT ??? says:

Nani Nani FUCKING Nani, not to get carried away in the slightest but when that boy is one on one with any Keeper in the world you wouldn’t bet on him missing. He’s defending strong, he’s linking play, he’s distributing the ball well. Nani is shitting on everybody out there.

WTF more do fans want from this fella??? ;) If he played for Barca everybody would want him

Rant aside, im liking what I see out there, and I couldn’t give a monkeys if Messi isn’t playing, we’re on top against a top club. All our lads look sharp. Cleverly isn’t playing like he’s new to our starting 11, Anderson is playing some great stuff in the middle, Welbeck is different class, and im really glad to see Evans holding his own. Giggs, Owen and Smalling to come on. Come on lads, this ain’t a friendly, this is a statement of intent – EVERYBODY is watching this match.

…And as for that cunt diving in the box? and the other cunt fouling Young? Cheating bastards, but I’ve got to remember its 1am or im going to wake everybody up

Now lets get the result and return to Blighty undefeated.

  151. Balaji Sivaraman says:

For some reason, there is a confidence whenever De Gea is manning the posts. It “feels” to me that Van Der Sar never left. I have no idea whether it has to do with the hype surrounding him or his huge price tag or whether he actually is “that” good. But I just feel better with him in-between those posts than without. Make of that what you will.

Also, everytime they show Busquets face in close-up, I feel like puking. Cunt is the definitive word to describe him who I think highlights everything wrong about modern-day football. I can’t help but think what Keano in his prime would’ve meant for the cunt. He probably would’ve watered his pants in the pitch.

  152. Colbert says:

The commentator on the channel i’m watching said that Cleverley struggled in the first half. Bit harsh I think. I thought he did alright.

  153. willierednut says:

He hasn’t pulled the plug yet. There’s still water in the tub.

  154. The team that wouldn't die says:

    Let’s kill this game!

  155. moscow JT says:

legolas-which channel? GTV? MULTI TV? Off to the living room!

  156. willierednut says:

    Van de gea!!

    A dutch spanish cocktail!

  157. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Well Costas, what we’ve seen in the past two matches highlights exactly how Sir Alex feels about our fullback situation. First Jones and now Smalling. Looks like Sir Alex is looking to test out all options to see how comfortable he is with them playing out wide.

@Paul Parker, You were just bursting to shout that loud, weren’t you? :D

Anyways, this could be the season Nani announces himself to the world. We already know how good he is but it is time for everyone else to take notice.

  158. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

    @Balaji Sivaraman

Totally agree with you, regarding De Gea, (although i can’t stand Busquets aswell) i said the same thing during his debut, he look very cool, like almost nothing fazes him, it’s a great quality to have for a keeper at Utd, especially knowing our track record of goalkeepers. I really think he will be a hit, and even if he has a rocky startto his Utd career the Fantastic Anders is there, i don’t even think i should be saying that because Anders has really impressed me on the tour and could deffinatly be our number 1

  159. smartalex says:

Comfortably saved by de Gea. Nice play lad!

  160. manutdisadream says:

good on david de gea to keep the ball there

  161. Costas says:

    @Balaji

He doesn’t have many other options does he? One would hope that Rafa’s injury would serve as a reminder about how easily we can run out of natural options at full back, but I doubt it. As for the 2nd half, personally I would have prefered it if Fabio stayed on the right with Evans moving to the left and Smalling partnering Vida.

  162. manutdisadream says:

brilliant smalling. real spirit to win the ball there

  163. Legolas says:

My goodness!! De Gea is unbelievably quick!! Nani is simply magnificent. Fergie will be rueing his selection for de cl finals. This new season looks promising!!

  164. manutdisadream says:

    brilliant ball from evans there

  165. marshall says:

barcas style of play = dat episode of the simpsons

  166. manutdisadream says:

    FUCKING HELL almost!

  167. RedMegleeker says:

Off line here, what is the score lads?

  168. Red New Yorker says:

Good play with Welbeck and Nani! Almost..

  169. AlphaRS says:

How are United not 2-0 up?!

  170. The team that wouldn't die says:

    Welbeck!
If Henderson is “worth” £20m. How can we rate our boy??????????????

  171. Utd4life says:

    Welbeck’s having a great game..

  172. sigmundv says:

Is it just me, or is Barca the most boring team in the world to watch?

  173. Colbert says:

Jesus. I know it’s a friendly, but come on!

  174. Balaji Sivaraman says:

I think De Gea will look much better if he removes that God-forsaken stupid beard he has. He needs to hang out with Rio more often me things. ;)

@Legolas, ” Fergie will be rueing his selection for de cl finals” – Hindsight is a really wonderful thing, isn’t it? Looking back, there are ‘n’ number of things Sir Alex might’ve done differently, but none of them would’ve mattered to the end result. Management is not as easy as everyone thinks. It is like asking iven a second chance, will those geniuses at Wall Street have done something to prevent a global meltdown? Without a doubt, yes. Let’s leave it at that because it is better for everyone that way.

Welbeck is just too good to be sent out on loan again. He is going to feature prominently this season and I am going to be a happy man. I just know it.

  175. AlphaRS says:

Dirty bar steward. Should a been sent off for that!

  176. Zelh says:

how can’t this be a second yellow?

  177. Colbert says:

    @sigmundv

No, I think they are pretty boring too. Especially in a game like this when they offer no penetration, just endless short passes back and forth.

  178. Utd4life says:

Barca are bloody boring to watch..

  179. RedMan says:

    because is a friendly

  180. Costas says:

    This game needs some Berbarotica.

  181. Colbert says:

Yes, Welbeck looks good ahead of the season. I think he will make a much greater impact than Macheda.

  182. manutdisadream says:

well that was a nice shot

  183. Colbert says:

Just a friendly, but that’s bitter. We’ve been the better team but once again we’re slack in defence against Barca.

  184. willierednut says:

    Pick it out.

  185. AlphaRS says:

    FFS

  186. slim says:

the guys at the boardroom in spain must be thinking, why are we spending 40 million on Fabregas again ?

  187. Zelh says:

great goal but either fabio or vidic should close him down.

  188. Costas says:

    @Colbert

More or less. Another case where someone had time to shoot outside our box..

  189. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Zelh, Come on mate. Aren’t we asking for too much? You want to see a flashing red card, in a friendly???? :P

Nothing De Gea could’ve done about the goal. But I loved the way he has a go at his teammates for not closing in too quickly – something which was a problem in “that” night also. He is looking to immediately impose himself on the defenders and let them know who is boss, and I love it.

  190. The team that wouldn't die says:

    FUCKING HELL!!!!!!
‘I know it’s a friendly. But how anyone can be friendly with this arrogant team is beyond me
    ..

  191. Colbert says:

    @Costas

Yes, and it’s so frustrating to watch. We let them play and shoot from just outside our box. Just what they like.

    Mikey!!!!

  192. Gyan Riggs says:

    Owwweeeen! Nice!

  193. shebangsthedrums says:

    GET IN OWEN!!!!!!!!!!

  194. FletchTHEMAN says:

Give it up for Mikey Owen. GEEETTTTT IN!!!!!!!!!!

  195. manutdisadream says:

THAT SHUT THE BARCA FANS SHOUTING “olé” UP!!! good one micheal

  196. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Goal yeeeaaaahhhh you fuckers

  197. Costas says:

Cool as you like by Owen.

  198. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

    OWENNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

  199. Red New Yorker says:

I’m loving these one on one goals with the keepers!

  200. AlphaRS says:

    Get in there!

  201. shebangsthedrums says:

    Well done Cleverley also.

  202. smartalex says:

Great play again! Cleverley did very well, and Owen was always going to beat the keeper.
Michael proving he can score against Barca.

    Come on United!

  203. Zelh says:

that must be the goal owen was talking about last year :)

  204. Utd4life says:

Barca can stick that ticki tacka shot straight up their ass.. Well done Clev and Owen..

  205. keano99 says:

Stick ur ole up ur ass, get in owen

  206. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    Micky’s still got it.

    Still no Berba???? :(

  207. The team that wouldn't die says:

    YES!
Owen, you could teach that cunt Balotelli a lesson.
    Good ball from Cleverley.

  208. Fred says:

Wow, I often say that Owen is useless and finished, but that was pure class and composure personified. Maybe there’s life in the old dog yet. :)

  209. mahadev says:

what a performance by the youngsters + Nani ! Welbeck Man of the Match for me. Cleverly was excellent. as was Smalling. Impressive stuff !

  210. MrKirie says:

Why isnt berb getting a shot?

  211. willierednut says:

    Scouse bastard!

  212. WHAT ??? says:

Dumb twats in the crowd was shouting Ole when that went in!

    SHAADDUP !!!!

@ Cedars – yeah mate, soon as Welbeck sent him through I jumped up.

Cleverly has been class all game. He keeps things very tidy.

  213. shebangsthedrums says:

    Where’s the Berb Fergie?

  214. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Jesus christ how are we going to cope with deciding who to play up front. Owen? Wellbeck? Rooney? Macheda? Berbatov? Chico?

  215. manutdisadream says:

    tom is doing niiiiiceee

  216. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

See people Cleverly, remember the name great play Tom, Danny has also been fantastic today, Overall the young lads today are doing a great job, little disappointed in young, but maybe that’s my high expectation of him talking, i’m expecting fireworks every time he runs at defenders, but i’m positive he will adjust to the Utd way

    Come On United

  217. Costas says:

It’s not just Berbatov. Park and Rio didn’t play either. Barca are playing with their 2nd string, so it would only be fair if we beat them with our second string. ;)

  218. shebangsthedrums says:

Cleverley’s looking more and more confident.

  219. sigmundv says:

A question for the English people here: what is the meaning of saying “get in!!!” every time someone scores a goal? I’m not English myself, so I’m curious to know.

  220. pvtejones says:

Jeez if Liverpool have a team of midfielders. What does that say about about uniteds strike force! Hell Rooney might just have to play midfield!

  221. Legolas says:

Owen!Owen! Cleverley is soooo clever…no Berba, disappointed

  222. AlphaRS says:

How was that not a freekick?!

  223. Costas says:

At least Owen scored the one that mattered. ;)

  224. Gyan Riggs says:

How was that not a goal?

  225. shebangsthedrums says:

    Can’t believe that Michael!

  226. manutdisadream says:

WHAT A MISS??!?!!?! owen with a miss like that???? oh my god, well, that nothing you see everyday

  227. AlphaRS says:

How the fcuk did Owen put that over?!

  228. Balaji Sivaraman says:

I don’t know why but I just have this immense respect for Pep Guardiola. A number of managers all over the world could learn from the way he handles himself both on and off the field. The man is just class through and through.

Fred just got more leverage to call Owen useless and finished.

I can’t wait for the trophy presentation, BTW. Oh wait…. Something’s not right here…

  229. Colbert says:

Haha, I would have bet my mother on Owen scoring there.

I have liked our mostly aggressive approach tonight. That’s the way to beat these jokers.

  230. RedScottX says:

    @ Sigmundz,
    it means “Game on”..

  231. The team that wouldn't die says:

Just loving it! The ARROGANT CUNTS are desperate to score.
Guardiola looks disturbed. His last season.
    Owen. Should have been 3-1!

  232. marshall says:

wtf? my gran could av scored that

  233. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

The term Get In comes from Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers. Where Nathaniel Winkle chased Joe the Fat Boy around a vat of lard. When the heat of their bodies melted the fat with their exersions it started to flow through the seals of the vessel holding it. Ben Allen the medical student a bit flustered from a crafty wank in the hay shed came in and saw Joe fallen and sliding in the fat on the floor. Nathaniel winkle who was named because of his large John Thomas was then urged on by Ben Allen to “Get in there”. Nathaniel Winkle then duely obliged and slipped Joe one as Ben Allen watched on and squeezed out another load from his pud.
Im not sure the rest of the story as I only read page 1 but it does seem it comes from some blatent homosexual practice of Victorian Britain.
    Hope that helped

  234. King Eric says:

Never cheered so much in a pre season friendly. Fuck off Barca you fucking arrogant cunts. Well done all the lads. Gets us over a very mental barrier.

  235. Costas says:

    Revenge!

  236. Legolas says:

Johnny Evans has been imperious at de back..reminds me of Pique. Smalling looks like Ronaldo with all those *silks*.

  237. manutdisadream says:

great tour for united, bring on the CS and the season, the future looks brigth

  238. AlphaRS says:

That is a psycological victory. We can beat Barcelona. Even if it is a friendly. Well done United.

  239. Costas says:

Fuck wee Wes. The answer to the Barca protocol is Tom Cleverley. ;)

  240. Balaji Sivaraman says:

And, the final game of pre-season is over. Just one more week to go lads before we get to taste revenge on those cunting cunts down the road.

Keep it Reds, lads! Gotta get a couple of hours of sleep in before getting up and being off to work. God, I hate the Middle-East. :(

  241. smartalex says:

We deserved the win! Manchester United has already cut Barcelona back.
We are on our way to another wonderful season!

    Well done United!

  242. keano99 says:

Arrogant cunts looks like their manager was moaning to fergie at the end. Get in red army

  243. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Whens the next friendly or is it straight onto the charity Shield, community cup, scope chalice or whatever they call it nowadays. Been paying so much attention to the US tour I dont know whats next.

  244. slim says:

gotta say i liked what i saw from everyone on the pitch today. Friendly or not, its as if they’ve maybe figured “something out ” and not just in the midfield. the forwards look really tasty and Young look like he’s going to do some damage. Nothing to be said about Nani, except, keep doing what you’re doing son. Its looking alright the squad. It’ll be lovely if the youth boys could get a sniff here and there too

  245. oneloveoneunited says:

Seriously guys, I would love it if we signed wee Wes but it would be even better if we didn’t and Cleverley emerged to the top level.

It goes without saying that it would mean so much more for an academy player to step up.

  246. Dre.FU= Forever United says:

5 wins out of 5, Couldn’t ask for anything more (apart from the title and the champions league this year that is ha)

Nani, Cleverely, Welbeck, Evans, Fabio Great today definatly is going to be one of the most exciting league seasons for Utd fans, their going to see the future of United unfold infront of them.

  249. Utd4life says:

Screw Sneijder if he doesn’t come..Give Cleverly more game time and we have got the 2nd Scholesy..

  250. The team that wouldn't die says:

    De Gae – 7.5 What a talent
    Fabio – 7 easy game
    Vidic – 7 No problems
    Evans – 7,5 Back again!
    Evra – good game 6,5
Smalling – 7 can play full back as well
Anderson – 7 strong and lively
Cleverley – 7,5 You are a Manchester United player
Giggs 6,5 – Soon 38 and we know he will do the business
Nani – 7,5 He can do better, a world beater

    Obertan – 6 ok
Rooney – 6,5 have a rest for the Community Shield
    Welbeck – 8 MOM
Diouf – 5,5 not much time, not much to say

  251. Costas says:

Not the first time we came back from the US with a 100% record. Lets hope this season is miles better than 03-04 was for us.

  252. Balaji Sivaraman says:

  260. BajanBoy says:

    BRING ON THE NOISY NEIGHBOURS!!!

  261. Fred says:

    3rd August apparently 8)

  262. Legolas says:

It seems our young defenders are technically advanced than most of our other players… Obertan seriously is not that smart; had all the time to deliver a solid pass not a bouncing, bubbly one to Owen.
.Dimi would have scored that with an acrobatic volleyh

  263. torontored says:

Happy days are here again – the 5% just went to 3%. Ando/Nani/Giggs (when needed) TC

Keeper to me still a concern.

Great team effort – but fuck me the local over 60 centre forward would have buried Owen’s fluff (maybe/maybe not – he he has been known to hit the corner flag – I know)

No buys now – total team response – a few bits of tweaking but THE REDS WILL GO MARCHING ON

    UNITED 20/4/12

  264. Drog says:

Ando played poorly, for me at least. Seemed too tired too often. Cleverly’s just bursting with energy and a brilliant ball to Owen. Give this lad a lot more playing time and let him fulfill his potential. Nani and Welbeck top class, too!

  265. REDHOUND says:

The most important thing is that most of this was out young team, never thought i’d say this but welbeck and cleverly do have a bright future at Manchester United, Evans was almost faultless. De Gea was amazing , quick reflexes, seemed to have trouble with aerial missiles though. Overall the game was a major psychological breakthrough for the kids and the entire team. Nice to see Guardiola being classy as always at the end of the game.

  266. StatesideAussie says:

Well done to the young lads. Smalling, Cleverly, Rafael, Fabio, Evans, Anderson, Jones (did I leave anyone out?) … all were outstanding. Nani was great. I don’t think anyone had a poor game. Obertan’s ball across to Owen (that miss) was poor. De Gea was caught a bit flat-footed on their goal. But those are nit-picks.

Yep, a meaningless preseason game — but hey, it will give our guys confidence. We’ve just seen a good part of the next-gen Manchester United squad — and I have to say, that future looks good. Very good indeed. Cheers lads, gotta run!

  267. sigmundv says:

LOL Goat! Great story. Thank you! :D

I think we played well tonight. Cleverley and Welbeck are great prospects. The players also look very fit for the start of the season. Can’t wait! Let’s first demolish Shitty on Sunday!

  268. smartalex says:

We’ve hammered the american teams in the middle of their season, no mean accomplishment. Now we can add a good victory in a committed friendly against Barcelona.

Our pre-Season this year indicates that we can win early points this year in the Premiership.
    Instead of our usual lag.

A good thing with the tough early schedule we have drawn.

  269. Giggsy's Lawyer says:

I wanted some Berba time. Not Biram time. I hope his exclusion means that Fergie is going to give him 90 mins against the bitters.

  270. Utd4life says:

Regarding De Gea, I thought he looked very calm and composed tonight.. The lad has got great reflexes and his distribution, though not VDS-esque, will certainly get better..Lindegaard isn’t bad either..Have we ever had such competition for the GK spot at Utd??

  271. King Eric says:

Denton. Still think Tom is over rated?

Balaji. I can’t stick Guardiola mate so disagree on that one. He is a smug arrogant suave cunt who breeds that arrogance in his players.

  272. Ruudboy says:

@ least I have something to shut up all this arsene wenger tutored thugs and those emergency chelski fans in my area. Friendly or no friendly we’ve beaten Barca. Disappointed wit Berba absence btw, but Cleverley was pure class.

  273. willierednut says:

Good win, but only a friendly.

Barcelona looked like, they were in auto pilot.

Hitting the dirt, but what do you expect?

De gea looks a class act. Fuck all, he could do about the goal.

I don’t pay attention to friendly games.

Can’t wait for the bitters at Wembley. We owe them one.

    Where’s Mark? Well done lads!!

  278. You Just Gotta Love This Team says:

I saw this Barca team tear Bayern apart the other night. This was a good victory.

  279. WHAT ??? says:

Well fuck me that was satisfying. God I’ve missed top level football.

Cleverly and Welbeck kept it tight and carved Barca right open. Owen and Nani’s finishes were top class past a top Keeper. Funny enough, if Messi scored either goal we’d never hear the end of it. Two brilliant goals. Truthfully, Barca always threatened, and they’ve got the talent to hit the top right corner, but they didn’t create many chances over 90 mins. Most of their possession was passing backwards and sideways (OLE!) and thats because they couldn’t pass through our defence and “troubled” midfield. Our average age was fuck all out there.

Nani was best player on the pitch hands down, but I’d still have to give MOTM to young Cleverly, he kept it tidy and solid and used his head. Evans, Smalling and Jones all handled themselves really well. Anderson had a solid first half as well. What more to say? Good performances all round.

    ……Right……

thats enough excitement for one night ;) Laters lads.

  280. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Oh what the fuck. A friendly to Marseille. Have English fans ever had such a thing in Marseille. Its a fekkin shit hole full of idiots who blame America and England for everything theyve done wrong in the past and then like to take it out on us when we visit. Whos cocking idea is this then.

  281. mikekelly12 says:

I thought De Gea was supposed to be shit coming for crosses!!!!!

  282. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Oh and by what I wrote I mean what THEY have done wrong, not the US or Britain as they are faultless in everything.

  283. smartalex says:

Barcelona seemed very pleased when they equalised.

  284. BajanBoy says:

    WHAT!? FUCKING WHAT!?

  285. willierednut says:

Just heard, the Barksdale crew got Omar’s bitch?

  286. smartalex says:

I think that Marseilles are paying a million euro for the privilege.

There was an offer reported a couple of weeks back.

  287. Twenty20 says:

The young guns and Nani were blazing!!!! What a great boost! I know it’s a friendly but you can see that it meant more to both teams, no one wanted to lose, Barca was tackling hard and had a few trademark dives in there, so I think there was a serious undertone and this is a huge bost, we made them look like an over passing Arsenal. Basically we beat them at their own game and exposed them at the back.

Wellbeck and Cleverly were great. I can’t see past Wellbeck as second choice after Rooney for the second striker spot right now, his pace, passing, tackling, vision, energy were great. I would put Berbatov and Machaeda behind him on todays performance. Diouf and Owen are lead strikers and they would be behind Chicarito and Rooney for that spot.

So lots of competition! SAF is going to have a hard time keeping everyone happy but on today’s performance, my preference is for youth to come through, they deserve it, Wesley can keep his tan in Milan, and if they show the talent they should be prefered to older and new potential buys as they are the future.

I can also see Giggs future replacements in Young and Obertan, though Young looked a bit tired today and Nani outshone him completely. I think Nani won a lot of fans in the US tonight.

  288. smartalex says:

“You wanna get with Omar you need to stand out on one of ‘em corners with a big-ass package You’ll be talkin to that nigga soon enough”

  292. Marq says:

    One “revenge” done with

One to come, against the noisy neighbours…

  293. denton davey says:

Slim @ 2:06: ” i liked what i saw from everyone on the pitch today. Friendly or not, its as if they’ve maybe figured “something out ” and not just in the midfield. ”

Right. The team-defence was just excellent – Barca were crowded/smothered in that area behind the “D” and in front of the midfield-circle. They had the freedom of the flanks but that’s not their game and their crossing wasn’t much good and they had no targets to aim at.

I thought that this was going to be a big test for Anderson, Tom Cleverley, and Danny Welbeck. It was and they all did well although it was apparent that Cleverley was very nervous in the opening half so it was a great piece of management from SAF to let him play the whole match – he grew in confidence as the game wore on. I thought Anderson was fantastic in his defensive-pivot role. Danny Welbeck was excellent as both the front- and the withdrawn-striker. He went to Sunderland as a boy but he’s come back as a man. The other player whose performance was eye-catching was Chris Smalling, when he was playing right back – he’s a real manster: big, strong, fast.

Overall, it was a most enjoyable evening even though we are still going to have to hear that Xavi, Messi, Alves were missing so it “really didn’t prove anything”. Their back-ups play the same style of tippy-tappy and, for the most part, the two banks of four held their positions and didn’t get anxious which meant that almost all of Barcelona’s possession was pretty meaningless. TheLads’ success tonight – and in 2008 – is great to keep in the memory bank. Barcelona can be beaten – InterMilan did it the year before last, RM did it in the Copa Del Rey, and, of course, the ABU’s will conveniently ignore the fact that UTD’s record is now two wins, two losses and one draw in the last five matches.

  294. denton davey says:

King Eric @ 2:21: “Denton. Still think Tom is over rated?”

He got better as the game wore on – if he’d been substituted at 45 minutes then you might not have asked that question. BUT he was given the time to take his chance and he did well in the second half. I’m not convinced but I do have to eat some humble pie. Is that good enough for you ?

  295. Giggsy's Lawyer says:

Gotta say, as much as the praise is all good and well, Anderson’s passing and decision making was atrocious at times. He does put himself about a bit and cause problems for the opposition, but when you compare his distribution to our opposition, he just looked like he wanted to get rid of it almost instantly. Obviously not a fair comparison, but when you look at Iniesta, he just looks so composed on the ball, like he has all the time in the world – very Scholes like in that respect.

I thought Cleverly grew into the game as it went on. I think as he gets more games in the United shirt, his confidence will rise and this game tonight will have done him a world of good.

  296. Balaji Sivaraman says:

denton @ 4:05, “He got better as the game wore on – if he’d been substituted at 45 minutes then you might not have asked that question.”

This is exactly what I tried to tell everyone (not you) after the Chicago game. He was very nervous in that game. In the last pre-season, he was a pretty decent performer because there was no huge tag attached to his game. This time, however, everybody is “expecting” him to step up and take the mantle from Scholes till we sign a new mid-fielder (maybe we won’t). That weight on his shoulder probably made him more nervous than he usually will be and I think his brain stopped working in that game. Which is why I didn’t understand the reason he was subbed there. However, here he got a chance to let those nerves settle and gain control of his body, and you could see the difference it did to him as a player. I am gaining confidence in him/our mid-field without a new signing everyday. Though I am not yet ready to join the dark side yet.

  297. King Eric says:

Giggsys lawyer. Yeah mate but let’s not forget Iniesta has five years on Anderson. Anderson is growing by the game. His passing was off BUT he did a fantastic job of getting in their faces and put himself about.

Denton. Yeah fair play. Have to agree with most of your first post in particular Danny. Wow. He is like you rightly say a man now. A fantastic talent to boot. Doesn’t waste the ball and his touch is superb. Let’s hope now Fergie has their number. A huge physchological win.

As I said they are quite ordinary and remind me of Arsenal without Xavi and Messi with their overplaying. This side however made very light work of Munich the other night.

  298. Giggsy's Lawyer says:

Yeah I just worry he isn’t maturing fast enough to become world class. We’ve had him and Nani since the start of the 2007/2008 season, yet Nani DOES look world class. I see glimpses of brilliance from him every now and then, like when he gets hold of the ball and surges from midfield, but not often enough. At least he has learnt how to shoot, somewhat. I dunno… the jury is still out on him as for me. I hope he can fulfill his potential.

Agree with you about the Arsenal comparison, King Eric. Other than their goal, which was a bloody good strike to be fair, they really just passed it about between themselves without causing us too much trouble. It would have been a different game is Xavi and Messi had played though.

  299. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Giggsy’s Lawyer, But then again Nani hasn’t been trouble by injuries as much as Anderson has and hasn’t had someone like Scholesy ahead of him. This is going to probably be his first full season with us where he gets to run the show. It is exactly shaping up to be like Nani’s career path with us after Ronaldo left. As long as Ronnie was here, Nani was overshadowed. But when Ron left, Nani stepped it up big time to become the force that he is today. With Scholes gone, I expect Anderson to step up big time. Of course, he still seems a bit stout and his petulance is too similar to Nani and Ronaldo at times, but these are minor nitpicks that can be easily overcome. So, this could just be Anderson’s year.

  300. h williams says:

    nani goal was brilliant

I think that physchologicaly this win is great, although there was no Messi. We have great young players potential. Cleverly was great. As we talk about attack…for me there is 4 clear choices…Rooney, Chico, Danny and Owen. Owen is world class and i would give him a chance at any time. Danny show great potential and i would give him same time on the field like Javier last year.
And Nani….he is more than great, and what i see amazing is, that in every game, no matter how great he is, i see so much reserve in his performance. I think he has posibility to do more than we can imagine.
with Senijder and this team, we can win Barca….remember what i said…

BUT…remenber also that guy Thiago…he will be good….

I hope you are right Balaji

Just want to thank all contributors , i couldnt get to watch the match for a host of reasons . Ive felt a mixture of pride and confidence as i read this through . Lets hope its both the shape and intent of things to come . Right bring on the Citeh !!

Anyone who cannot see that Nani is the best player in the squad is blind. So talented it’s ridiculous. Valencia is not half the player that he is and it’s a disgrace Fergie started Antonio over him in the final.

Giggsy may be in my top 5 players of all time and scored my favourite goal of all time but he is just absolutely terrible and needs to retire, does he even complete 3 passes in a row anymore? He defo needs to call it a day because there is no room for sentiment in this team.

KR @ 15:53: “he (SirRyanGiggs) is just absolutely terrible and needs to retire, does he even complete 3 passes in a row anymore? He defo needs to call it a day because there is no room for sentiment in this team.”

You’re being harsh. And, forgetful – the pre-SirRyan often had spells when he looked out=of=it but his absolute class came to the fore again and again.

Wasn’t it 2001-2004 that he was being booed by some of the denizens of the Stretford End ?

SirRyan arose and was fucking brilliant for large stretches of the past few years.

Yeah, he wasn’t up-to-much last night but if there’s one player who “deserves” patience then it’s SirRyanGiggs. Possibly the best player to ever to wear the red shirt; and if not “the best” then he’s still in with a shout.

Hurry up and get to united sneijder, anybody who knows anything about united should know that we need him big time.

  307. willierednut says:

Good grief KR! You attack a legend for no obvious reason. Fergie will decide, when Giggsy’s times up. Not fucking you!

  308. King Eric says:

Denton. Again pal I agree completely with your last post. Spot on.

Willie. Well said mate. Piss take. Just remind me who only back in April provided all assists for our Champions league win over the rentboys?

  309. hugh williams says:

weaker Barcelona side but a good side

  310. Giggsy's Lawyer says:

I think some fans on here only think in terms of the last 90 minutes completed. Ok, Giggs wasn’t amazing in our ‘friendly’ against Barcelona, but he didn’t need to be. The main reason behind these friendlies is to get match fitness in pre-season. I would be willing to bet you any amount of money that Giggs plays a significant role in some shape or form this coming season. He always does.

  311. Sn says:

This whole tour was also some kind of a tournament right? I read somewhere that the teams involved were Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Milan, City, etc.. but i forgot the name of the competition. Does anyone here know ?

  312. Always Be Closing says:

@RedScottX – you surely are a weird imposter then. Get in doesn’t mean game on at all.

  313. Sn says:
