Sad for fans, CACHING for Glazers!

Probably just as well since 3 days after away to Real Madrid.

    What games today.

Congrats to Oldham, what a game HA

  2. Pratyush says:

Well as was expected United get a PL team, while Chelsea get a lower league team.

However, with the way Chelsea are playing, I don’t expect them to beat M’boro. haha.

  3. Pratyush says:

Scholesy played for Oldham, didn’t he? Good on them =)

  4. wayne says:

Pratyush rather have Reading at home than a lower league team away, those fucking games are normally a battle, look how easy Fulham was yesterday compared to all three games today. The lower the team more likely to have bruisers that have nothing to lose and just get stuck in risking injury, good as draw as it gets for Utd. Reading are done and not prem league class to start with

  5. Red River Red says:

Who cares what everyone else draws? Eventually, they’re going to have to get by us–and, trust me, that’s not gonna happen.

This cup is ours! Bring on Reading!

  6. Andromeda says:

Very good draw!and we are at home.we needed such advantage as we are entering a hectic schedule.

  7. NYDUDE says:

Shitty vs the Leeds scum is not the worst……

United at home again which is another good result for us

    C’mon UNITED…….

  8. REDibro says:

Spot on @Wayne, bottom of the table prem teams fighting relegation and less likely to put up a huge fight.

  9. DreadedRed says:

    Great draw, come on United!

  10. parryheid says:

Pressure get’s heaped on United now,Liverpool go out the cup, just leaves the title for them now.Quaking.

  11. DreadedRed says:

Oh no! Are liverpool able to focus solely on the League? We’re doomed!

  12. fergie is the boss says:

barca have scored, barca twice 2 1 osasuna, who scored? messi

You know what I find contradicting, 2 things

1 in 2008 united were called a one man team, despite the fact, united could field VDS ferdinand vidic eva scholes carrick giggs rooney tevez all in their prime

2 we hear trolls and united fans in some quaters, say, where would united be without RVP

even though Rooney and especially Hernandez have got into double figures and also could almost reach 30, we even have a stat

PPL have said, united are in trouble with RVP, which makes me laugh, where would barca be without messi’s goals? because he seems to be the only one scoring them the goals. Because their defense would not last 2 seconds in the prem, and their backups upfront, is an ageing villa.

  13. FletchTHEMAN says:

    DreadedRed.

Sit down son…. take a deep breath. I’ll only need to say this once and you’ll be feeling much better…

Liverpool will now have all of their resources focused on just one thing.

    ……..Beating relegation.

  14. parryheid says:

    Wayne.

Saw that share price was it AndersRed/Must jumped on the statement the shares were only worth $5 at issue of IPO.

  15. wayne says:

Utd are not even close to being a one man team, the whole premise is based on unity, what RVP brings is a certain Je ne sais quoi that makes them better,i posted a link last night here’s part of it

Meulensteen believes Van Persie’s strengths are now improving the emerging players in the Old Trafford ranks.

Meulensteen explained: “Robin has a phenomenal eye for free space. I don’t know another player who creates space for himself so well.

“As a coach that was one of the first challenges for me. Trying to show to the other players what kind of striker Robin is and how they have to play with him in the team.”

And the arrival of Van Persie has made United feel invincible.

The Dutchman has given Ferguson’s side a star quality that was missing when they were pipped to the title by Manchester City last season.

And, according to Meulensteen, beating City to the signature of his countryman was a huge statement of intent by Fergie.

With United five points clear at the top of the table, Meulensteen said: “Robin gives the team an invincible feeling.

“All the players have that same buzz. They think ‘we’ve got Van Persie. With him we are always going to score. We can always give him the ball and he will always do something magical with it.’

“It was time for Manchester United to have a big-name player like Robin van Persie again.

“In the last few seasons, we had squeezed everything out of our star players and last season we were just not good enough.

“As a club we had to make sure that we would not underperform again. With Robin we have a world-class player in our ranks again. He’s a really world-class act. As one of the biggest clubs in the world we really needed a player like him.”

Meulensteen believes that the rest of United’s squad recognised a kindred spirit in Van Persie when he announced his intention to move to Old Trafford to win trophies.

United’s gain has been City’s loss. The Dutchman said: “With his personality, it was easy to get a warm welcome from the rest of the squad from the first moment.

“Robin is not the kind of player who says, ‘Here I am’. Robin is an absolute professional. He’s a fantastic trainer and he delivers on the pitch.

“That creates a security for players. They feel nothing bad can happen to them because we have got Robin van Persie. We really missed that kind of influence last season.”

  16. Pratyush says:

    Wayne

Yeah actually Reading at home isn’t a bad draw. Hopefully Leeds can overcome the hated City. Two scum teams playing each other haha. Chelsea are going the way of ‘Pool, both teams demolished by the FSW.

I just hope SAF doesn’t play too weak a team against Reading, They gave us a good scare last time we played them.

  17. FletchTHEMAN says:

Parryheid: Cheers mate. Think the stock has been on the up last few months.

    Now at $16.89

  18. DreadedRed says:

FletchTHEMAN – thanks, I feel great now!

  19. Tope99 says:

With the way things are going the only dent there may be in the FA Cup might be City,If we get past Real Madrid during this Champions league, the only dent might be Barcelona. This season we are doing so well :)

  20. wayne says:

parry well Forbes aren’t Muppet’s mate, one of the leaders in the world for business and financial information, just can’t see them printing that on their website unless it was true.Forbes have nothing in the game just report the facts.Just goes to show how bitter and misinforming AndersRed/Must really are.The club just keeps getting stronger and stronger on any level makes there doom and gloom sustained hate campaign look even more pathetic.

  21. wayne says:

Utd aren’t a one man team but RVP has a large amount of Je ne sais quoi that makes them better, posted this link last night sums up perfectly what RVP brings

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-only-signed-robin-1557087?

  22. Costas says:

No complaints. Especially after the trip to the Bernabeu. Easy game to rotate at. City vs Leeds is just pure lol. 22 twats playing in front of 10 thousand more twats.

    Who did Liverpool draw?

  23. DreadedRed says:

Cape Verde qualify for the African Cup of Nations quarter final.

Population of 499,999 since Nani left.

  24. WeAreUnited says:

    @fletchtheman hahahhah funny.

This is a great tie, cause those that won’t play for CL or league, will have this game to play and keep them on their toes and ready for action .

    great DRAW!!!!!!!

    cmon,

  25. DreadedRed says:

Liverpool drew a blank. Next year should be their year.

  26. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

LMFAOOO. Liverpool are the gift that just keeps on giving.

  27. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

@Wayne that is FUCKING EXCELLENT news. I remember when everyone was pounding the Glazers for trying this IPO thing now the share prices are on the up. I just had the feeling that it would be successful and so it has proved. That news has brightened up my day.

  28. samuel - united WE stand says:

Good draw at home but going back to united last game at the madejski, this contest is far from a walk-over, must not underestimate a reading team that’s actually improved lately and they have that ability to create goals.

  29. Proverb says:

Yeah I kinda agree with @samuel this fixture can prove decisive on our title run in and its no walk over either, against a team which scored 3 the last time we met and even more trickier as the lads will probably still feeling the strain of a champions league clash vs madrid just 3 days earlier.
    Its a tough one!

  30. fergie is the boss says:

Wayne aren’t barca teqhnically a one man team? Has beyond messi, who has scored them the goals

  31. wayne says:

fitb probably very similar to RVP, Barca would still be a quality side without him he just puts them over the top gives them that magic ingredient.Could say the same about Ronnie although i think he’s more of a one man team than either RVP or Barca, think Real would really struggle without him.

  32. wayne says:

    or Messi

  33. DreadedRed says:

Chelsea are a one woman team, talismanic Torres keeping them in the cup

  34. Costas says:

Anyone remember the last time we faced them in the cup? They equalized the game at OT during injury time. We began the replay with a 3-0 lead inside 5 minutes and they almost drew that one too. Hopefully it will be simpler this time.

  35. dannysoya LOVES USAIN BOLT says:

Reading is clearly not a walkover. They hit us for three goals in the first half of our game over there. We have to take all games at this level seriously if we want to win. See what has happened to Liverpool for proof.

  36. wayne says:

i’m really not worried by Reading at home it’s good their still battling for relegation because by the time this tie rolls around even if Reading has any sniff of staying up last thing they’ll be interested in is the FA Cup

  37. Bill Hick's Ghost says:

Good draw! Reading are no mugs, though! Liverpool never fail to make us all laugh!

  38. fergie is the boss says:

Wayne – I disagree, I think barca rely heavily on messi’s goals, I think united have more in reserve than barca. I also think their defense is one of the worst in europe, not one of their defenders coulf get into the united team, I think they would be in big trouble without messi, and their game would be very easy to stop. You put messi on the right of united against barca, I think united would win, yes they have a great midfield, but for players to fear unteds defense, even with inesta they r limited to just messi’s brilliance

  39. WeAreUnited says:

Barca woudl be in trouble without Messi, of course they would be quality, but would struggle in those games where the sheer individuality of Messi gets them out of the trouble. They would fight for the first place of course, but now as easily. Messi is the icing on the cake.

He is simply amazing, yes it does help that he plays for Barca, but Messi has made them the team they are, already over 50 if we count international games also. if one can’t see that, then Idon’t know where the world is going to. I hope one day we get Messi :D the biggest dream would be to get Messi on that red shirt.

until then, I will realise him being the best. It’s like RVP, I never knew what kinda player he was, I knew he’s amazing, but now I know he’s pure class.

If Messi would come here, yo ujust know that he would add 2-3 goals more into our game :) but that’s just living in fantasy world. a good one, btu nothing else :)

  40. FletchTHEMAN says:

Wow. Just saw Brendan Rodgers post match… slagging his youngsters for not showing enough.

Don’t know, but I find that shocking! Come on and credit the opposition or something.

But honestly, if that had been United and Ben Foster, Linde or God forbid De Gea in goal. The freaking inquisition would just be starting. The fact that 4hours later you couldn’t probably name the Liverpool Reserve keeper says it all about the ABU mentality of the press.

Still, shocked at Rodgers. Must be cracking up! ;)

  41. WeAreUnited says:

I just watched the mplay Osasuna. His vision to the game, the goals he adds, the awarness of the game, how he gets into goalscoring positions. WOW.

he’s a mix of Ronaldo the phenomenon with the scoring, Ronaldinho with his vision, Maradona with the drive going forward and Zidane with the pure class he has.

Messi is all of those, pure class also add the humbleness. CLASS.
But the comparison with Ronaldo and the way Barca are playing, makes people think that Messi isn’t that good, which is delsuional, when the lad has eaten us alive 4 times, eaten alot of english teams, italians and germans, portuguese, you name it.

He has nothing to prove to me. I wish all good for him

  42. Proverb says:

    Commentator in Real Madrid vs
    Getafe: “Ronaldo just got
    tomorrow’s main big headline
    after this tremendous hattrick.”
    Commentator in Barca vs
    Osasuna: “Messi just stole the
    spotlight from Ronaldo with his
    4th goal of the match.
    Tomorrow’s headline is surely
going to be a ‘Messi vs Ronaldo’! ”
    Rivalry continues. . .!

We must figure out a way of stopping Ronnie folks before its too late, this guy gonna tear us a new one.

  43. montanared says:

    @dreaded red
    High comedy thank you.
couldn’t ask more from a day on which united didn’t even play.
I think scholesy grew up an Oldham fan but was he ever on their books?
Leeds v City, what is the accumulative IQ gonna be at that ground, any guesses?

  44. wayne says:

fitb normally at top clubs someone steps up Utd have proven this over and over again,Messi never gets injured so as far as i know Barca have never gone many games without him.Don’t forget a player like David Villa isn’t get much of a look in and no one can argue he’s quality.

  45. chicaole says:

Good draw, have some decent games to come to prep for Madrid. Southampton and Fulham means we can rest some of ou players for a week. Everton at home will be the perfect game to test ourselves before Madrid. Come on u Reds!

  46. wayne says:

Fletch is also shows just how much gap there is in interest between the 2 teams anything Utd is just much bigger news Liverpool have become a also ran that nobody gives a fuck about

  47. Proverb says:

Oh, and about messi hitting 4
No words from me, there’s no word to describe him, he’s pure class. 7 scoring chances and he hits 4 into the back of the net
Sanchez at the other hand missed two great opportunities, not sure if its 35m well spent or just another overpriced player. Ronnie deserves a mention aswell, two great players and while I’m I’m it ronnie is the one making this la liga more exciting than the other way round, the focus on the both of them now as always not the team leading on top of it. Two football legends nothing more nor less

  48. Tope99 says:

Without messi Barcelona will just have another good finisher to play that role,Messi is just their end product. The whole team do a lot (it shows possession wise).without Messi Barcelona will still be at least where they are right now to me.On the other hand Real Madrid are the one-man team, all they really do is pass to Ronaldo and he kills it.When he was injured they looked like *Fulham*.

  49. medumtum says:

Aye Messi is a once in a lifetime player. But lets give credit where its due, Barca are a magnificent side and xavi and iniesta are amongst the most consistently brilliant midfielders in history. Its that they function within a system that allows them to play to their strengths that makes them outstanding. And its all down to La Masia and the philosophy that the club is built around. lets not forget unlike madrid that cherry pick from the world over Messi is part of barcelona and barcelona is part of Messi. He and the rest of that incredible squad are built from the ground up there. The way they play their defense doesn’t have to be the best in the world. Would they do so well if they were playing against the physical premier league sides, or indeed against better quality opposition day in day out? We’ll never know. Personally prefer United but can’t fault the Catalans for their continued success. Heck the rest of Spain is riding on that talent and theres no Messi to help there. Wish them success just as long as it doesn’t cost United.

  50. NBI Red Onion says:

@ fitb, even without Messi Barca have most of the world cup and European Cup winner stars. He makes a big difference for sure, but even without him they would be one of the best teams in Europe, though not by such a gap. I have to say I do thin he is better than Ronny, just that extra bit of magic, but until we see him play for another lesser club team it is hard to tell how much of this is due to his support in Xavi, Inesta & Co.

  51. NBI Red Onion says:

As SAF has said, the only time we were a one man team was for a while when Cantona carried us.

Reading at home, a good draw, we avoided the top teams and its a home game. Definitely rigged there is very low odds we could get PL teams n=on the trot like this.

  52. mara says:

@Fitb 20:54 i agree. I remember that Messi was injuried 1 month, and Barca struggled very much. Without him they would be one of the top EU teams…nothing more than that. Like Tope99 said he is their end product. If you score 90 goals in one season than you cant say that they don t rely on one man.
@medumtum i also agree. They have La Massia where they learn those kinds when they are very young how to play Barcelona s style. So when they start to play in the 1st team…only thing that is different is a players they play, but sistem is the same. And that is their advantage. Real was good while they had lot of players from their own school, before galacticos. They were familiar with sistem…those guy now, no matter how good they are, they are not clicking like Barca. I dont unxerstand why Real buying players all around the world, when they produce such a quality players from thier own academy. I think that Soldadois from their academy.

  53. mara says:

And i think that Messi is better than Ronaldo…Like NBI said, extra bit of magic…

  54. Dela says:

Would take a relegation candidate in a cup tie in February any day, they are more interested in premier league survival than putting up a fight for a cup, see what Qpr did the other day? Made 9 changes because Harry couldn’t give a fuck about the FA cup, he needs to keep Qpr up, simple as that. Btw the fact that Harry rested so many players ahead of the city game shows he is looking to fight them for something, I guess he needs all he can get, can’t write off any game now.

  55. fergie is the boss says:

Nbi – but with that defense they have, which I find was exploited by chelsea, I don’t find a combo of valdes alves puyol mascharno is good enough against the top sides, yes true, but they found it hard 2 break sides down

  56. aberbacadabra says:

@nbi redonion, the proof is there that it doesn’t quite work out well for him when he plays for the national team just imajine having the likes of di maria, aguero, tevez just to mention but a few yet there’s nothing to show for it. it mindboggling.

  57. jigpig says:

Any older guys on here will remember the pitched battle (actually on and off the pitch!) between Luton and Millwall back in the good old days of 1985 should be interesting…

  58. wayne says:

The fact David Villa can’t get a game should tell everyone how good they are,I’m a delusional Utd fan and obviously not having Messi would affect them but still would be one of the best teams in Europe.Messi is centre of attraction and deserves to be just like RVP in a very short space of time he’s Utd’s best player both clubs are quality without either but both bring magic very few players have.

  59. fergie is the boss says:

wayne – still not convinced with that back-line of their’s, or their keeper, yes they would be one of the best, but they do get away with it

  60. WeAreUnited says:

@Proverb very well written on Messi.
Tha twas a great example, Messi ahd 7 chances and scored 4, Sanchez had 2 and missed them. So it’s up to the nerves off steel, and Messi has it.

I agree with everyone that without Messi, they would be a top team, obviously, but Messi makes them the best team. Btw, Messi is playing now great with Argentina also, he ate Brazil by himself, and that game is a lways a rival game, no matter what’s the name of the game.

“another lesser club team”, I don’t get this, why the greates player on the world, woudl go to a lesser team, do you think that Reading would by him?
Or do you mean with a lesser team, ManUtd? Ronaldo was here, and went to Madrid and is tearing them apart. So do the math, Messi is scorign 15goals more than Ronaldo in LaLiga, so he would tear everybody in EPL.

Look Ronaldo is my favourite player and it has alot to do with that he was United bound, but I admit that the lad gets help in Madrid also, just go watch his goals he has scored already for Madrid. Not saying he’s not the reason they are one of the best teams around, cause without ROnaldo magic, they have been struggling. BUT.

Lucky us we have youtube. Go Ronaldo all goals Real Madrid and then Messi all goals Barcelona, and tell me who does it more by himself.

    I’ll help you:
    Messi -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85j6pWEbhE0 253 goals until 2012
    Ronaldo -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuiUKDeW-qM

    you be the judge.

  61. WeAreUnited says:

    sorry for the TYPOS

  62. WeAreUnited says:

no matter who we draw against, so long it’s a home draw i’ll take it.
@weeeeldrinkadrinkadrink,that was a gud one. have seen the same video with different caption, but this one was the best.

That had me cracking my ribs.

  67. Pratyush says:

To say that Ronaldo scores more goals in Spain makes him a better player since he went to Madrid is not really sensible.

The Premier League is a harder league to score in because:

    1) More physicality. Players are allowed to get away with a more physical approach to the game in rougher tackles. Not that this is a bad thing. I actually prefer it to the constant stop-start nature of the game over in Spain.

    2) Defensive quality is spread more evenly in the PL. Teams here actually know how to defend tactically and otherwise. There is no world-class defender in the Spanish league. Pique is thoroughly overrated since he has nearly nothing to do in a team which defends by keeping possession. In the PL, OTH, you have a defensive mentality among the lower teams, commonly called parking the bus.

You also have more competition, since there are 4-5 good teams competing for the top spots every season.

Simply because Ronnie scores more there doesn’t make him a better player at Madrid. His FKs and long shots have both deteriorated in the time he has been there, and he allows the Spanish media and fans to get to him.

So to say Messi would tear into every team here in the EPL is not true. Teams could mark him out of a game rather easily, by putting 3-4 defenders on him.

Also I’m not sure how comfortable he would be playing a league which doesn’t emphasize on the passing game like Barca does.

  68. Sushi says:

Fuck off with Barcelona and Madrid. What a joke of
A fucking league 70% of TV revenue goes to barca an Madrid split the remaining 30% if even that amongst 18 other teams. No wonder their country is broke as shit with a model like that. Borrow
A shite load of money curtosey of subsidized full governmental guarantee.
The score lines in la liga whenever those 2 plays is idiotic might as well be a fucking basketball match

  69. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

agree with Wayne – sooner have a premiership team than home than a dogfight against lower league opposition.

  70. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

@proverb – alexis is overpriced but what he’s really found out like many others is that he’s not good enough to play with those around him and that hangs around his neck like a weight. Many players struggle to make the change to Barça’a system and he’s just another.

  71. Gorse Hill Red says:

Yet another Premier League club. i would love to look at the stats with United and the draws we get. The whole point of the FA Cup is small teams in the lower divisions can have a pop the big teams but this always seems to pass United by. Would have loved Leeds but the Bitters have got that one.

  72. Red4ever says:

    Saying about madrid game ,,

If we I said if we can stop that lad ronnie we will be tearing them some holes to put their stinky faces in ,,,,

We just need the guys in top form ,,wazza,,nani,,tony v ,,rvp,,and anderson we can beat them for sure ,,
Glory glory man utd and the reds go marching on on on !!!!!

  73. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

@Gorse Hill……… too right, we always seem to get tougher opposition in the cup. I remember in 1990 we were drawn away in all rounds – Forest of course and I seem to remember Sheffield Utd aswell but can’t recall the rest. In fairness Reading at home should be something similar to Fulham if we play our cards right.

  74. FletchTHEMAN says:

Good day reds. With 3 days till the end of the transfer window, I’m considering hopping on board a dilapidated skiff for a slow tour of the outer Hebrides. Be bone chilling, but probably easier on the nerves.

  75. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Looks like it’s started:

Adam Marshall (manutd.com) is reporting that Real Madrid have asked to move Barcellona game (Mar 3) forward 24 hrs, with a view to the Man United game 2 days later on Mar 5. Original story is from Marca but I couldn’t find it on quick inspection.

I thought this would happen. It is a good sign that Real want to put out strongest teams for both matches.

  76. FletchTHEMAN says:

Wow, I guess we really are all that!

Mail suggests that on current form, RvP, Rooney, Hernandez & Welbeck are on pace to match goals of 1998-99 treble winners Yorke, Cole, Solskjaer and Sheringham

    http://tinyurl.com/arnynnx
Manchester United’s front four have fared better at this stage of the season than Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble winners had at the same point in the campaign.

    1998-99
    Yorke 18 (12 PL, 5 CL, 1 FAC)

  77. King Eric says:

fitb – I would love to see fucking Messi drug tested. The little cunt plays every min of every game. Never gets injured. Even stays on pitch when 4 nil up. People there get fucking cancer and tumours and are playing 6 weeks later. Same Spanish team that did the Armstrong doping I tell you!!

  78. King Eric says:

jigpig – I certainly do remember that battle pal. Seats being thrown and shit! Mental night.

  79. King Eric says:

    Sushi – Ha quality post.

  80. wayne says:

King Eric that doctor was linked to Barca thru the 2004/05 season but the club have always denied it.The doctor got a lifetime ban same as Armstrong,Messi gets angry if he’s left on the bench or subbed

  81. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

I’ve often wondered myself abput the amount Messi plays. Rarely rested. I can only imagine
he takes incredible care of his diet, rest and everything else.

  82. Sparkz says:

@Fletch – Interesting stat, I had no idea Teddy had such a low amount of goals by this point in that 99 season!

Although I’d actually say we’ve been playing with 3 forwards this campaign, as Welbeck’s been used mostly out wide (I think Kagawa has played up front a lot more, so best to put him in as our 4th striker)

  83. dazbomber says:

Ronadldo has injured his ankle may it missing against us

  84. parryheid says:

Yahoo hope he’s out for a month.

  85. wayne says:

Ronaldo’s substitution was ‘precautionary’ could even play Weds

  86. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sparz…. If you can believe it, Sheringham was actually a relative non entity for most of the 98-99 season, Injured for some, not particularly effective in all the early parts of that season.

If you were there, you might have been exaspirated, as I was, when Fergie brought him on late in the FACup final and then again in the CL final.

He had only scored 3 goals up to that point …. and ended with only 5 goals all season.

    May 22. 1999 United v Newcastle United (opening/winning goal) i in 2:0 win FA Cup (goal #4)
May 26, 1999 United v Bayern Munich (equalizer) in 2-1 win Champions League (goal #5)

The last 2 goals, literally. paid his wages for the year. And the rest, as they say, is history.

  87. Sparkz says:

Yeah I do recall he didn’t make many starts, or score many goals (did put in some very good performances at times though – FA Cup semi with Arsenal comes to mind, as well as some important assists). 5 is a staggering figure though! And to think it was Solskjaer who almost left in early 99!

Was still one of my favourite players of that era though, and not just for the 2 goals at the end of the season lol.

  88. Costas says:

Teddy didn’t score a lot in 98-99 or 99-00. Didn’t start many games either. But man, was he ready whenever called upon. Fergie basically started rotating with those 4 strikers in 00-01. Until that season, Yorke and Cole were the regular partnership.

  89. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sushi. Cheers for that rant. I feel exactly the same. But times might be changing for the pretty boys at Real and Barca. Not the players, but get this.

Paraphrased from something I read a couple months back (please feel free to correct me or find a reference)
    - New laws in spain will put a super tax on high salaries and penalties on evasion (consequence of the country being skint)

    - The high money players won’t be affected in the short term, because most have contracts that guarantee the a fixed income, club having to bolster until everything is paid.

    - Long term, these excessive contracts will put enormous pressure on teams wage structures, and ultimately will have to be reviewed. With any luck, clubs like Barca and Real who have enjoyed virtual tax free status are going to be brought in line.

  90. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Ah… here is the link

Spanish government plans to introduce a whopping 56 per cent tax band for top earners.
The new rate of income tax would hit foreign football stars hard, leading them to look elsewhere for their next megabucks deal, directing them to the richest league in the world.
La Liga had been living a charmed life under the old ‘Beckham Law’, introduced just before the former Manchester United midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2003.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2084066/Spains-56-cent-tax-football-earners.html

“Beckham” Law is it ? [hangs head] At least a couple quality sons of United are helping pull all the gold out of that morally corrupt lot! HA

  91. Alex says:

Hey guys. What’s your opinion on Victor Wanyama? Is he better than Bender, Strootman or Gundogan?

  92. Sushi says:

Lol beckham law? Didn’t know about that one thanks for that Fletch. Unfortunately that’s how u know UEFA ffp policy is a joke otherwise united would be the worlds leading club on revenues only reason Madrid and barca are ahead again curtosey of a massively skewed TV deal. If
Anything UEFA should impose the same tv breakdowns in all leagues. Only way U have true financial fair play is if u look at breakdowns of revenues so shit team like
City who manages to leap frog like 8 spots on Forbes list
Can’t pull shit like that. Owner capital injections wether they be direct or laundered through 5 shell corps shouldn’t be allowed that way city go back to mediocrity quickly as they were before.

  93. lordrt says:

Overconfidence can be costly… even if it is only reading, but cup football is usually full of surprises (just ask the fat spanish waiter or the scousers)

Talks about Beckham, well just read that he’s going to train with arsenal until he gets a club :?:

  94. BayoRed says:

Just read that club is now worth more than 3.3 billon according to Forbes magazine. Can someone explain what it means to the club. Have we reduced debt? Coz it seams our listing is bearing fruit. Is it the reason why we are starting to spend more freely. Coz I have noticed that we are winning key battles in transfer targets.

Think Scholesy needs a raise. ;)

  97. FletchTHEMAN says:

Sushi. Actually look no further than Manchester United, who repeatedly moved for separate TV contracts….. and this predates the Glazers, so don’t blame them for the idea.

You have to credit the FA for this in my view. Reasonably equitable distribution of TV income is slowly bringing up the quality of the leagues. EPL contract actually spares a few shillings for the lower leagues and has buffer payments for relegated clubs to help them transition to lower income. Loads more relegated clubs would do a Leeds/Portsmouth if not for these distributions.

One of the things to admire about the FA Cup is the ability to funnel funds to lower league teams, many of which are in diabolical financial straights.

    Scholes Car Stollen:

The idiot was probably after Balotelli’s car, but then a city fan pissed all over it yesterday 8O

Scholes drives a chevy for christ’s sake! Nice enough, but not a Bentley!

Yet another nailed on three away points tonight for City.Proving to be unbeatable.

  100. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

What kind of fucking scum would steal Scholseys car? The lowest of the fucking low that’s who.
The type of fucking scum that trawl the streets on frosty mornings to steal people’s cars.
Lowlife fucking bastards. It’s a sick fucking crime made all the sicker by the fact it was prepatrated
against the Ginger prince. I hope they drive off a fucking cliff.

  101. utdweekly17 says:

This is our year, I have a good feeling.

  102. DreadedRed says:

Maybe they’re pimping his ride? He’d probably prefer that they just kept it. He already pimped the car when he got it, putting in an FM/AM tuner and a green solar strip on the windshield.

  103. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Parryheid. Except v us!

Bobby CCO : Some one suggested that it’s a form of raving. That youngsters specifically target swank areas and boost cars for a bit of fun….

Bet Scholesy knew exactly what he was doing. Just wants his Audi back. Bit of a step down with the new car sponsors innit! ;)

  105. DreadedRed says:

Sir Alex says: “We’re not taking anything for granted. We’ve got Southampton on Wednesday, then we go to Fulham and then it’s Everton at home. These are big games, massive games. Teams will drop points. Not just us but Manchester City will drop points, absolutely, it’s a certainty. Chelsea and Arsenal will drop points. We’ll probably drop two or three ourselves but the important thing is accepting the challenge that every game is just as difficult as the rest.”

  106. parryheid says:

    Fletch the MAN.

Lets not queer my hex on them.

  107. mara says:

FIFA rules can t help to clubs…some sheik can order to some company to sign a sponsor deal with club…and what you can do? How you can stop them?
