Darren Fletcher, Football Genius

Nothing should be able to take the shine off reaching our second European Cup final in two years, after totally battering our hateful rivals Arsenal on their own turf, but sadly, thanks to inept refereeing, we certainly aren’t grinning as much as we might.

Darren Fletcher, who has been superb this season, and who had a fantastic night at the Emirates, has been robbed of his European Cup final place.

With Arsenal needing five goals to go through, Fletcher showed 100% commitment when Cesc Fabregas broke in to the box, winning the ball with a superb tackle. Fabregas went down and the referee, who had a great view of the challenge, awarded a penalty. Fine. I’d have preferred a 3-0 but I can take a 3-1, knowing they didn’t deserve a goal. However, to send Fletcher off was totally unforgivable.

Our thoughts are with you Fletch! Thank you for helping us get to Rome.

Darren Fletcher, football genius!

My heart goes out to him.I haven’t enjoyed the win as much as i wanted.

  2. el-insaciable says:

It was really tough watching the final minutes knowing that Fletch will not play in the final. He deserves all the recognizion in the world for his past two performances.

  3. keanesmagichat says:

gutted, fair play to the lad for not even complaining… top man.. lets win it for him… hollow feeling after that mind

  4. Any_RED_Blooded_J'can says:

    Gutted!!! I hate Frenchesca Fibreglass

  5. Wiggsman says:

Fucking sucks – and there’s no appeal!!? The greatest club game in World football and UEFA leave it so that Godforbid the referee gets a decison wrong (as unlikely as that is to happen!!) then an unfortunate player has no recourse to take part in the biggest game of his life……oh is that just like when UEFA only realised they didnt have a policy on the team winning the Champ league and not qualifying for the next year…….fucking whole organisation are a joke – THIS IS FOOTBALL!!

And i dont give a fuck if its Fifa rules and im inaccurate here- im fucking right here in principle

  6. Giles Oakley says:

Yet another duff decision by a ref. One cost United a place in the FA Cup Final, this one hurts an individual, but both make me angry. I really feel sad for Darren, who has been superb this season. He’s an honest, never-give-up team player with undervalued abilities and it is such a shame that he’ll miss out on such a big occasion. Like Costas says, my heart goes out to him.

  7. PrahaladtheUnitedFan says:

Does he get a Winner’s medal if we win it? He does, doesn’t he?

  8. Wiggsman says:

    Oh and……

    We’re off to Romeeeeee
    We’re off to Romeeeeee
We are the champions and we are off to Rome

  9. elbarillo says:

All is not lost, he can play in the 2010 final.

  10. clj7 says:

yeah absolutely gutted for him, he’s definitely been robbed. It’s like if the team said “Thanks for helping us get to Rome, we’ll take it from here mate”

I feel so sorry for him. I hope he doesn’t have to wait another 10 years like Scholes had to!

  11. Funited says:

costas: same. im happy but u know when u feel something is not right. that is what i feel in this moment

  12. ZimboRed says:

Fabregas screamed like a bitch! Over-reacting should be a bookable offense!!

  13. jamos9 says:

Gutted for the lad…played his socks off!! I hope UEFA take exception and reverse the decision. I want fair play!!

  14. Its in my blood says:

I keep asking for a chant for Fletch. Just found out that our fans DID chant for him tonight! At last! Dunno what it was though.

  15. Don Pablo says:

This is what legends are made of. DARREN, you’ve just taken your first steps to immortality! LEGEND.

  16. Mr Santos says:

Last season when we beat Barca I was over the moon, it was a tighter 2nd leg of course and I’m still chuffed now but I’m absolutely gutted for Fletch

  17. RedatHeart says:

Feeling gutted about Fletcher atm. I mean not only is it a harsh decision on the face value itself but the ref had absolutely zero brain power to give a pen and a straight red? I could understand a pen and a yellow but a red when the game is just abt finished as a contest was too harsh.
Like in the El Classico the other day when the score was 6-2 in favor of Barca the ref just blew up at the end of 90 min w/o playing any extra time at all. I think the fact that they have the referees on the pitch w/o the video technology assistance is to maintain the human element of the game. ( sort of like in cricket when a contentious decision is given by an on-field umpire). So where was the human aspect today? Hardly anyone argued that it wasnt a red card at all. I mean i can understand that from the referees POV it looked like a foul but still to give a straight red was just STUPID.
I hope hes man enough to own up on his mistake n not include it in his match report coz thats apparently the only way that the ban can be rescinded.
If Fletcher doesnt get to play in what will be surely the biggest game of his career I for one will be absolutely livid.

  18. mustevez says:

Gutted for fletch…the last 15 mins of the match i was only thinking how unfair that is on him and his family.Hope the lads would win it for him.Top Pro…Good to see Becks cheering for us,i guess he did not give any opinion before the match as he used to train with arsenal for a while…

  19. keanesmagichat says:

what was aaron ramsey thinking waiching that? the stupid fucker

  20. toby says:

I was so pissed off, totally gutted for him, although I dont usually agree with him being in the team, this season he has been really good. Such a shame, especially since he won the ball.

START THE FLETCH FOR ROME PETITIONS NOW!

  21. Hughsie88 says:

Darren Fletcher has just become a Manchester United Legend: he put his heart, his sweat and his soul into the club for the past however many seasons – he never complained, he kept on going when fans got on his back, and he has come out of the 08/09 season as one of our best players, without doubt. He was our in form player during our poor start to the season, and the last few games, his energy, work rate, and hassling of the opposition midfield has been world class.

Tonight, Darren Fletcher is on lips and in the hearts of every Manchester United fan. I couldn’t celebrate the masterclass we put on tonight after the sending off. I was gutted for the boy. I can understand the referee’s position – if he does think it is a foul, it has to be a penalty and a red. Unfortunately, his mistake has cost one of our most honest, hard working, and arguable important players a moment in history. Well, Darren, if the record books don’t remember you for a performance in Rome 2009, rest assured that your name will now go down in Manchester United folklore as the committed, selfless servant of the club, who maybe now, will get the appreciation that this season’s performances, and his career’s determination, rightfully deserves.

Rome 2009 – Let’s do it for Fletch!

  22. redfanatic says:

gutted for him.his time will come.without question his best season with united.that dick fabregas went down like he was shot.

  23. dvdpower21 says:

Am gutted for Fletcher. He’s had to wait a few years to get his chance to play in the big games. But am I missing something here? He took an opponent down in the box who had a clear goal scoring chance – it was a foul no matter how bad we feel and Fletch got what the ref had no choice but to give him. He should have let the prick score, would have made fuck all difference and he’d have his chance in the final. Anyway, gutted for Fletcher and hope he has the chance to play in another one next year.

  24. sofi says:

gutted for fletch :( stupid ref a penalty would have been enough at worst than a straight red :@ can’t believe we won’t be able to appeal hopefully fletch will get another chance next season

  25. Its in my blood says:

@Hughsie88, well said, totally agree. Now, have you got a song for him?!?

  26. Hughsie88 says:

dvdpower, if you watch the replays, he clearly gets the ball before the man in a stunning last ditch tackle.

Tonight belongs to Fletch – gotta be a chant for him against Shitty!

  27. costas says:

I read that he was in tears after that.I don’t know if anyone has heard but as soon as he was sent off Scholes and Neville went to the back to console him. That’s what United is all about.

  28. Robert S says:

Thanks Darren! You really don’t deserve it …

  29. united4lyf says:

dat was a bullshit call. but WAT A RESULT!!

  30. Dutton1990 says:

I heard someone ask for a chant.

Now I’ve heard there was a wrong red card.
Given to a guy of grit and heart.
Never deserved, the boy will miss the final.
He’ll be in the stands cheering us on.
The fans on their feet, singing his song.
THE MANCS WILL SING HIS NAME, DARREN FLETCHER
    DARREN FLETCHER
    DARREN FLETCHER
    DARREN FLETCHER
    (continue till next song)

    Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley, btw.

  31. Marq says:

I do not understand the reason for not being able to appeal!

Side note, saw how Beckham was gleefully rubbing his hands, celebrating at the 3rd United goal? It was a good sight

  32. Billy Meredith says:

What a strange feeling I am left with. Utter jubilation for the 1st goal (nice1 park), i sat there stunned for the 2nd, the 3rd was a silky dream (i love u ron&roon). And then Flabbygas does Fletcher big time the fuck |(
No appeal in this day n age is backwards, i hope there is room 4 maneuvre.

    We’ll win it for Fletcherhino!
    Our unsung hero.

    UNITED!

  33. ROME_09 says:

Fabregas is a cock, there was no way Arsenal would have had a way back at that late stage

  34. costas says:

Yes Marq.Always nice to see that.We can’t appeal because that’s UEFA guidelines.

  35. FusilliJerry says:

Darren Fletcher, the bottom line: where once we used to get angry if he was selected, now no one questions for a moment the value of his inclusion. Yet pointless Fabregas cheating has deprived him a place in the biggest game of his career. Can only imagine dvdpower21 was listening to an Alan Green commentary or something and hasn’t seen the incident.

  36. BlackBabyJesus says:

Fabregas and the ref need shooting.

I was ecstatic until that point… now I’m sort of ambivalent even though we have reached the final. Very strange. :-I

  37. alex says:

    i fucking love u fletch

  38. Hughsie88 says:

    His name is Darren Fletcher,
He got us through to Rome,
He put one on the Gooners,
    He’s United to the Bone.
    He is our ginger general,
    He’s United born and bred.
    His name is Darren Fletcher,
    United’s Scottish Red!

To the tune of Keano’s magic hat.

Quickly put together, I’m sure there are better ones out there for Utd’s new hero.

  39. Colbert says:

Let’s just hope the ref reverses his red card decision when he compiles his match report. Common sense must prevail for a change, surely?

When will we find out about what the ref has or hasn’t included in his report?

  40. Wiggsman says:

Fabregas didnt cheat nothing, he went down coz Fketch clattered him after winning the ball – i’d want our players to do the same thing – the cocksucking thing is from behind the tackle you could see the ball go where fletch’s tackle came from – I know FAbregas is cunt but its not his fault

  41. Its in my blood says:

Hughsie88, thats excellent! What do you reckon Scott?

  42. GoonerRed says:

Fair play to united. Congratulations, you were the better team on the night.

  43. anderson8 says:

Strangely subdued feeling around tonight, seems like everyone else is feeling the same as me. We should be all grinning from ear to ear after our best Euro away result in years, but that red card has really depressed everyone. Sad that we reach two CL finals in a row and the player who has improved the most in the year between them won’t kick a ball in either. I thought once we’d made the subs we were safe,no suspensions. Let’s do it for DARREN FLETCHER FOOTBALL GENIUS.

  44. alpha_rs says:

Darren my heart goes out to ya. You shut Fabregas up tonight.

It’s obvious UEFA are gonna do nothing about it as common sense never prevails in these situations.

It’s great to see songs made up about the poor lad. Had my doubts about him back in the day but oh my Lord how this guy is a grafter. Doesn’t have amazing ability but he does his job and does it well.

  45. united4lyf says:

..but is there realy a chance for the decision to be rescinded??

  46. costas says:

I don’t have much faith that it will.If they didn’t do it for Nedved, which was also unjust, they won’t do it with Fletcher.

  47. Rocky says:

You muppets. Fletcher got the ball, but only because he had one arm pulling back Fabregas. Straight red, fair and square and he doesn’t deserve to play in Rome. I mean, for God’s sake, he could’ve let Fabregas score and it wouldn’t have made any difference.
Have to say though, as a Gooner, you were quality over both legs.

  48. Dave Mack says:

Absolutely gutted for him. As has been said it’s because he always gives 110% that he made that effort to stop a goal that wouldn’t have made any difference.

Lets all sing his name loud and proud on Sunday.

BTW, I have to admit, DF is yet another example of a player that Fergie sticks with cause he knows he can be relied on to dop a job for him. He’s had a great season, particularly in big / European games.

  49. keanesmagichat says:

lads if the ref admits his mistake in his report it can be rescinded they apparently are the rules.. the media should pressurise the italian to do the right thing

  50. United4eva says:

Every Man Utd fan needs to write to UEFA, sign positions, geeze even try Gordon Brown (or Joanna Lumley) and see if we can get justice for Fletch. This must not be allowed to lie.

When you see that sort of s-t happen to a guy like Fleth, a guy who’s never gonna have highlight reels on youtube but who like Ji and Sheasy always steps up in a crunch and does his bit it feels like all you ever got taught about giving it 110%, working hard and succeeding is a bag of B.S. We’ve seen Darren become the player Fergie always said he was through hardwork and application alone and to see him punished for that, punished for having the determination to keep going and make a BRILLIANT tackle at 0-3 up, thats completley f’d up.

    Justice for Fletcher!
    Justice for Fletcher!
    Justice for Fletcher!
    JUSTICE FOR FLETCHER!

  51. costas says:

Hopefully Rosetti will admit his mistake and then UEFA might do us a favor

  52. ROME_09 says:

maybe geldoff & bono could do some kind of fletch appeal concert ?

  53. keanesmagichat says:

it can be rescinded, look at the link mahesh has up above.. apparently if the ref admits his mistake in his report it can be rescinded… they are uefa rules..

Patrice Evra – “We are 11 men, they are 11 children; this is the difference. We are much more mature and have more confidence.” ahahahahahahahah

  57. Mahesh says:

I think there is a chance people – if Rosetti is upright enough, like Webb was post-Tottenham. I think the press in general accepts that the decision was ‘harsh’, Wenger said it was ‘harsh’ and was never a penno, so I think there is a good enough chance that Rosetti at least puts that in his report. UEFA at least needs to be put in the spot on this, and we will then see what happens. Its the CL final for godssake – exceptions should be made. Like I mentioned immediately after Fletch got sent off, SAF was off to the official on the touchlines have a POLITE discussion – I think the point was to drill it into him that Rosetti needs to look at it again and admit he was wrong if that was indeed the case…I think there’s enough momentum generated by SAF to actually have this in the refs report..

  58. JTrappe says:

you could see when he was walking off he was broken hearted and in total disbelief, never a red card as he did touch the ball before crunching fabregast, the lines man should of seen that as the ball changed direction before cesc went down but the ref didn’t even ask he had itchy fingers and pulled out the card. heart of a loin our fletch has, he battled up and down that pitch all night long and i thank him for his 2 MoM performances in the semi’s

  59. Woody says:

As a Gooner, I hate Man United something fierce but I do feel bad for Fletcher. He’s a good player that has really made some strides this year. For him to miss the biggest game of his life b/c of the incompetence of a moronic ref is inexcusable. Good luck to you in the Finals.

  61. PrahaladtheUnitedFan says:

Guys, I am a law student in India and have just read the regulations. I think there is a provision for appeal. The Regulations are available at http://www.uefa.com/multimediafiles/download/regulations/uefa/others/70/22/60/702260_download.pdf . The Regulations under Article 22 state that clubs have a right to protest (which is the appeal provision). Now Article 23.04 states that “A protest against a caution or expulsion from the field of play after two cautions is admissible only if the referee’s error was to mistake the identity of the player”. This seems to suggest that an appeal is not possible after a sending off BECAUSE OF A SECOND YELLOW except when there is a case of mistaken identity. This seems to be reasonable because otherwise you get into debates about whether the one or the other is a bookable offence. This rule does not apply to a direct sending off; in fact, there is nothing states directly on such a circumstance in the regulations. As Article 22 gives a general right to protest and as a sending off is not a question of fact (but a question of law applied to fact) the decision is not immune from protest. This is definitely arguable at least from a legal perspective. The only thing is it must be done within 24 hours from the match. So Scott, do you know how to contact MUFC asap and tell them to atleast consider this argument. I promise you it is arguable from a legal perspective and that’s the least we owe to Fletch. If you need more explanation regarding the argument, I would be delighted to oblige.

  62. costas says:

One thing is for sure.United MUST NOT let this happen without a fight.

  63. Saha ha ha says:

dvdpower21 were you at the game, have you not had a chance to see the replay yet? Flecth plaid the ball. It was a great challange. It’s the only downer on a great night. Fingers crossed, Fletch will have more chances to play in a CL especially if he gives his all for the team like he did last night and all season

  64. Mahesh says:

Prahalad – Trust me United will be on this as we speak – SAFs got the ball rolling with the ref’s report, because with the ref officially accepting an error we have something with which to petition UEFA. If the ref’s report doesn’t happen, it will be upto United to decide whether its worth contesting the decision legally given the limited time available to resolve such an issue, and the possible collateral damage to club-UEFA relations. But I’m sure that’s what SAF would have taken up first thing after the sending off…

  65. Mahesh says:

It is fairly clear to me however, costas, from SAFs reaction that he is not going to push this unduly – he’s not going to bully the ref, or try and bully UEFA into resolving this issue. He’ll try and get the ref to admit to the error in the ref’s report and then take whatever UEFA decided to do as follow up.

  66. costas says:

    Someone shoot this clown.Seriouly:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1177749/Graham-Poll-Forget-final-emotion-ref-Rosetti-spot-red.html?ITO=1490

Says the man who gave 3 yellow cards to the same player in one game.

  67. costas says:

I know Mahesh and it is the sensible thing to do.But i feel that United as a board should pressure UEFA about it.As someone said,if they would allow Liverpool to play in the Ch.League even if they finished 5th, then they should do something here as well.

  68. themarkedman72 says:

no ones to blame its a terrible thing…hopefully the ref can man up and admit his mistake.

  69. Hughsie88 says:

Silly comment from Graham Poll – a slide tackle would apply in that instance, or any 50-50.
At least he’s not Jeff Winter..

  70. mancirishred says:

Gutted about Fletch, kinda takes the wind out of a great win away from home. He’s played with his heart on his sleeve all season and he deserves his place as much as anyone. Nevermind…

    Follow, follow, follow…

  71. Mahesh says:

I think Costas with Liverpool they had the benefit of time. With us, we don’t – the CL final is a few weeks away. So we can take this up, but its going to be a question of whether its worth it for the club. We probably still won’t have Fletch for the final, so unless UEFA choose to rescind it based on the ref’s report immediately then so be it. Beyond that we might end up with a symbolic victory but I don’t think that would matter much to the club or Darren Fletcher.

As for the Poll’s analysis – He might be right on the penalty decision itself, he might be right on the letter of the law on the red – but he disregards the fact that referees are given certain amount of discretionary power in these case (eg: Howard Webb and Gomes). So common sense ought to have prevailed there – give the lad a yellow. I do think however that Rosetti made a mistake on the foul, and also decided to cover his back because if he hadn’t sent fletcher off and his analysis of the ‘foul’ had been correct, the Arse might have complained that he denied them the chance to play around 15 mins against ten men and hypothetically made the man advantage count. So I think the ref’s picked what he thought was the lesser to two evils. Its a bad mistake on the decision, and then he’s just picked the best way (to him) to cover his back…

  72. redmojo says:

His face walking off said 1,000 words. Totally blown for him and this win is such a downer. Isn’t that an oxymoron? I mean if ANYONE deserved to play in Rome this season it is Darren Fletcher. The guy has totally brought 100% energy to the games.

Love the song hughsie88! Definitely a winner!

  73. BlackBabyJesus says:

Since when do refs change their stance in match reports?

Webb only admitted his mistake to the press after several days.

  74. Hughsie88 says:

Let’s get it spread, and singing it against Citeh at the weekend – Pass it on to Pete Boyle!!

If Graham Poll is right about the letter of the law (and I just read something from Jeff Winter about the Gomes tackle that he claims WAS a penalty because he takes the man and the ball therefore reckless) then it seems Rosetti won’t need to admit he made a mistake. Hopefully he sees past the black and white of the law and admits otherwise, but it might be doubtful.

    Fletch just earned cult status!

  75. costas says:

Yes Mahesh. You are the voice of reason in times like this.We will see.Hopefully Rosetti does a Howard Webb and takes back his decision.Graham Poll is wrong in my book because the way he is talking,it’s like every player in Fletcher’s position is either forced to let the striker shoot or get sent off.We went through so much trouble to protect Rooney and Evra only for this to happen.I heard Scholesy went to the dressong rooms immediately to cosole him.Gary Neville did as well. They have both missed a Eurpean Cup Final. But Fletcher will miss two.

  76. Mahesh says:

Yep Costas – it is really sad – last year was still okay, Fletch wasn’t this integral to the team but as SAF said this year it was very likely that he would have started for us…I think Fletch realized that as well…which is why this is particularly painful for all of us…

  77. Gman says:

hes been immense this season,.. im just gonna say it, he has filled one of keanos shoes.. and hes still improving

  78. costas says:

King Eric must be gutted. Off topic. There is this rumor going around today that Vidic might want to leave for Barca because his wife doesn’t like life in Emgland.I hope that’s not true.

  79. debaser says:

    totally gutted for him
can’t say much that hasnt already been said here
I’m just one more person that appreciates all the hard work Fletch has put in this season.

  80. Devilton says:

Massive, massive loss if the red card isn’t overturned. We really do need him in the middle against either Barca or chelski and it’s a position that can’t be filled by anyone else.

Cunt ref needs to put his hand up and admit he made a mistake – that’s the only way we will see Fletch play in the finals.

  81. cantona7 says:

Fletcher you are already in my memory amongst the United legends.

  82. jcolas says:

People complained about howard webb not sending off Gomez, but you would think we deserved the same smart refing in this case.

  83. dazjoe says:

Fletch gets red carded for an awesome tackle, Adebayor gets booked for stamping down Carricks shin/on his foot? Tevez gets booked for a fair 50/50 tackle, Adebayor gets nothing for punching the ball in the box? Yet every ABU numpty cunt will still cry about the decisions we get when we do, i.e. the Spurs match.
Do it for Fletch lads, lets hope it’s Chelsea so we can see the self proclaimed hardest man in the world Terry crying like a fag who’s just heard Will and Grace has been cancelled, and arrogant twats Lumpard and Drogba seeing their last chance to win it leave them

  84. TheRedBaron says:

We have to appeal against this card! For the love of God this is a CL final!! I’m sure Fergie will hound UEFA till they rescind it, and then some!!

  85. lorons says:

absolutely gutted for fletcher. He definitely deserves a place in the final!!

  86. Dave Mack says:

No player, least of all one as honest and hard grafting as Fletch should be robbed of a chance to perform on the biggest club stage by a flawed system. How can UEFA justify not having an appeal process following the CL semi-finals. (I swear I’d say that if it was any player on any team under any circumstances.) What’s the chances of Plattini just admitting it’s wrong?

  87. denton davey says:

Keanesmagicalhat: “what was aaron ramsey thinking waiching that?”

Good question. I think the stupid fucker is wondering if he might have made a career-threatening mistake.

  88. denton davey says:

The Fletcherinho decision was just one in a long, long, long list of refereeing blunders. How long would a video replay take – 30 seconds or one minute ? It’s just absurd that these matters are dealt with so idiosyncratically as if we are still living in the Edwardian age. One just has to accept referee’s errors as “part of the game” and pretend that they even out in the long run – of course, in the short term UTD were denied a place in the FACup final, in the short term UTD had a perfectly good penalty shout turned into a booking for Ronaldo in the CarlingCupFinal and so. What did Churchill say about being dead in the long run ?

  89. wazza says:

just couldn’t sleep last night.was gutted for Fletch.hope that ref sees the video replay & admits it in his report.doubt it will happen with the cunt Platini at the helm

  90. blindkat says:

I know it is off topic but i would like to send my best wishes to SAF’s fam in that car crash. You know he had to be worried sick for his grandkids if not the ex wife chick. I know I wouldn’t have gone to work, then again millions of people don’t give 2 shits whether I install their cabinets or not. I hope I don’t get yelled at for being off topic

hey guys. having this bullshit happen to fletch, i was wondering if someone could fill me, and everyone else who is wondering, on what is the situation with Owen Hargreaves? i nearly forgot about him this season until i was just looking at the team midfielders… here in detroit, usa, we dont get much news on the footy/soccer front. someone please let the “out-of-the-loop” people out there know whats up. by the way, i just got done watching the demolition of the arsenal. had to tivo the game (which started at 230pm our time) so the wife wouldnt bitch about my husbandly jobs not being done, but as she works midnights it was much more enjoyable to watch the match in peace as she is at work saving lives as a nurse… i think i woke up the neighborhood when parky scored the first and nearly shat my pants when ronaldo fired the second in… at least i know my 3 dogs jumped up and had looks on their faces like there was a earthquake happening. very happy, but sad about fletch. used to hate his mistake-making ass before this season. he has really proven he belongs. rest assured i will be painting detroit red! come on united!

WoW! Another reason for video replay. I don’t get what sort of human element they want in the game…there’s 11 men on each side! Is it the “to err is human part” people want? I would like to see what players get what they deserve on the pitch…all the hard work that goes into it…not just a ref to call what he might have seen and get things horribly wrong. The replay clearly shows the truth 3 seconds later for the whole world watching at home to see. Not only do UEFA not seem to care about what actually happened on the pitch but they don’t want to hear about it afterwards as they don’t allow appeals for…a blown call resulting in a red card, a penalty, a goal, and a player unable to play in the Champions League final. What is wrong with this picture.?!?!??…!

  96. jamiemufc1974 says:

  101. Macheda is GOD says:

Fletcher will get revenge Giving arsenal a beating at OT in the prem!

  102. corea says:

why slam Fabregas ? decent player and person.

  103. corea says:

but yes. i made up my mind. Darren name will be on my next ManU shirt this summer.
it’s a beautiful magical story. SAF believed in Darren’s star and we have another legend in our disposal.

  104. five says:

I am going to get Fletch’s name on my shirt in the summer for sure, My eyes were welling up when he got sent off and shades of Keane at Juventus came into my mind.

He’s not Roy Keane but there are qualities he has(and according to Rio’s book when Fletch was breaking into the first team it was Keane that looked after him)which are similar to Roy. Yesterday when Song clattered into Ronaldo Fletch came in from the other side of the field and got into Song’s face

We spoke in this a few months back about how Ronaldo’s form has dipped because he didnt have a tough guy like Brown or Keane to look after him but I think he had finally found one in Fletcher and I am gutted he wont play the final

    LETS DO IT FOR FLETCH!

  105. saad says:

    Gross INJUSTICE

  106. dre says:

i couldnt celebrate last night’s win after the final whistle. was just totally gutted for fletch.

  107. Fletch is the man says:

I don`t understand why United and Barca don`t make either joint or simultaneous appeals around the 2 unjust red cards. Both Fletcher and Abidal have been rob by poor decisions. UEFA always want to be seen to be doing the correct thing and a joint appeal would give them a way of reversing these to the joint benefit of each side thereby allowing them to maintain their wish to be viewed as the keepers of fair play. A joint venture gives UEFA a way out of this mess with no loss of face, which matters to them a whole lot more than what is right and proper. Anyone know if United have given any thought to this. I think it might just work.

  108. DEE 4 LIFE says:

Very unlucky, hopefully common sense prevails but im not holding my breath.

Darren you may need to take this on the chin and come out a better player for it.
