DDG: I’m At A Huge Club

Following a difficult first season at the club, David de Gea seems a lot more settled this season and has started to show improvements where making his presence known in the box is concerned.

De Gea recognises the pressure he’s under at United but insists he enjoys the challenge.

“I’m at a huge club and there are big demands on you,” David told United Review. “As a goalkeeper I’m well aware that any mistake can be magnified by the press and the fans. That’s always the case for goalkeepers, no matter where you play. But it’s true that here at Manchester United there’s added pressure. It’s bigger than it was for me at Atletico Madrid and also for the Spain Under-21 team. It’s a challenge that’s enjoyable and it ensures you’re always striving to operate at 100 per cent.”

I’ll hold my hands up, I was wrong about the boy. I thought he didnt stand a chance and that was when him coming to OT was just a rumour. His first few games was icing on the cake for me and I remember being smug.
Now I feel I have the prettiest girl at the ball and even though Im a bit of a stud myself Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking for a date. Jealousy, concern, paranoa.

Good of you Goat to own up. If he can indeed make up his mind that he’s not going to go anywhere else, and he doesn’t do a Ian Walker, he’s going to be the world’s best goalkeeper in time to come.

There was a rumour about the VIRUS club… But I hope he stays with us forever

As we all know, the media played a big part in keeping DDG unsettled upon his arrival and throughout the season. The back-pages scrutiny + DDG’s young age + #1 GK at #1 club pressure = mind playing tricks on you which manifest themselves on the field from time to time. It sounds like he is maturing much faster than expected, and if he even comes close to reaching Casillas’ skill, I would be very very happy. DDG has saved us so many times already… and it’s only up from here.
