De Gea: Fergie Is More Than A Manager

David de Gea has hailed the influence of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, claiming that he isn’t just a manager, but a father figure for the players.

“Sir Alex is more than a manager,” said De Gea. “He controls everything in the team. He’s a father for all those who come to the club. For that he is the best. A footballer has to get used to good and bad words. At times things are said that don’t make a lot of sense and it is part of the job to know how to live with that. The best thing is to know who you are always.”

i hear he will snub barca to stay at united

  2. Stephen says:

he also said he wants to return to Madrid, “his city”, in the future.

  3. Andromeda says:

He got the right mentality, hopefully he is not too much homesick to think about a future comeback to Madrid.I am a fond of this kid and I am sure Fergie will not let him go.

  4. TheCANTONA says:

Back to madrid surely he means about atletico not real, afterall he’s atletico boy through and through…

  5. FletchTHEMAN says:

Back to Madrid ….. Surely when he is 40+ years old ;)

  6. WeAreUnited says:

I think afte 5-6 year, this lad is destined to go to Barca, and the situation will boil when he goes to play for Spain regularly, cause he will be in contact with Barca players and they wil l”seduce” him. I don’t think MAdrid are the one where this lad will go, if he leaves us, cause he’s a Atletico.

I will enjoy these forthcoming years, cause he is destined to go there.
    BUT

If he truly loves our team, then he will stay for 10 years more, but I doubt it, that’s why I will enjoy these moments, after all, 5 more years or even more are a lot to give :)

    IN DAVID WE TRUST

  7. roboo7 says:

    swap his for messi ;)

  8. FletchTHEMAN says:

We are United…. He just said he is a Madrid lad and wouldn’t go to Barca.

If you look at it, very few senior players really get successfully integrated into Barcelona. At least over the last few years. Not sure why someone would want to go there, and then be an outsider. They hate people from Madrid as well. You have to be in the culture to understand why.
I take De Gea at his word. And why shouldn’t we.

  9. FletchTHEMAN says:

Breaking: Michael Keane has been called up to the U21 squad. He’s on loan at Leicester City and is a cracking tallent. So is his brother to be fair but Will has been injured all season. Should be back for the preseason though.

  10. wayne says:

Well next year it’ll be his 3rd on a 5yr deal and with the amount of money Utd spent on him I’m sure the club will be looking to extend so we should find out next season. The length of extension if any will also be interesting

  11. TheCANTONA says:

Great news about keane (not the old bitter fool ones), been excellent for leicester this season surely deserves a spell at united or some PL teams next season.

  12. mig78 says:

Great news FletchTHEMAN! Huge fan of M.Keanne. Put the name on score-sheet a couple of times at Leicester.

  13. WeAreUnited says:

    @fletch

firstly great news on Michael Keane whom I rate more than Wootton, that’s a player to remembere, M.Keane!!!

secondly, what DeGea said, “At Barca, Valdes is still the keeper and Madrid is my city, one day I’d like to return.”

He did not say he would not go there, just that Valdes plays there, and we know the story surroudning Valdes, that he’s leaving, but that doesn’t mean DDG is leaving, of course not.

I expect DDG to stay with us, for at least 5-7 more years and then leave.
Besides I knwo the history of Madrid and the catalans and I take the word of David,
but for the me t’s worse going from Atletico to Real or
    from Real to Barca
than going a cycle of Atletico -> ManUtd -> Barca. Just saying.

Anyway, let’s enjoy these seasons! So glad I always had faith on the lad, he’s for me in top 10 keepers at the age of 22. CMON!

  14. FletchTHEMAN says:

Cantona and mig78 Cheers lads. I think this is Michaels 1st U21 call up so this is big news. Hope he sees many more.

Interesting to think about his time next year. Especially if we bring in Garay, I feel getting 1st team opportunities will be few and far between. Michael will be off on loan again. Where do you think. Harder for defenders to break in as they are such an important element.

  15. King Eric says:

Keane will make it at United IMO. A old head on young shoulders and has been top drawer at Leicester, even weighing in with goals. Cannot wait for Will’s return.

  16. theradlegion says:

David DeGea I have no idea what you are talking about.

  17. theradlegion says:

    WeAreUnited:
Clearly you don’t understand the history. DeGea was born and raised as a Madrista. He will never move to Barcelona but he will move to Real Madrid. A local like him who understands the history and rivalry between the two clubs won’t switch side.

  18. WeAreUnited says:

    @theradlagion

Look at Alonso at Madrid a basque playing for Madrid is also rivalry, but the lad is there. If you move from Atletico to Real is also bad if not worse, so I can’t see him moving to Madrid. But only God knows, when money and business is flourishing, rivalry these days is dying.

Moving to Barca will be forgiven from Atletico supporters, but not the move to Real Madrid. That’s how I see it. Atletico and Barca haven’t the same rivalry like Real and Barca or Real – Atletico, even though both are Madrid teams from the same city. The rivalry between the Galacticos and the Noisy neighbours.
This is where and how I make my assumption. Anyway, this is how I see it, maybe it’s how you see it, but for me he was raised as a Atletico Madrista and not Real. peace.

    peace.

  19. WeAreUnited says:

    I have to refraze this

Atletico and Barca haven’t the same rivalry like Real and Barca or Real – Atletico, even though both are Madrid teams from the same city.
The rivalry between the Galacticos and the Noisy neighbours is a big one for a Atletico lad. and that’s why I can’t see him move to Real Madrid.

  20. shows says:

i think he will be with us in the next 10 years…at least i hope so.i love that kid

  21. D GING€R PRINC€ says:

Give d lad a life contract.IN DAVID WE TRUST!

  22. TheCANTONA says:

Imho its too early for keane to claim a spot at United 1st team next season, maybe a loan spell at lower PL clubs like Sunderland, Soton will do him nicely, Help him to acclimate the premiership atmosphere week in week out.
Regarding Garay i (really) hope it’s just bullshit story like nicolas gaitans last summer. Why do we have to spend 20 mil euros for a defender & Madrid’s reject is beyond me?
