De Gea: I want to play until I’m 40… like VDS

In the Extra Time section of Gazzetta, David de Gea has given some interesting answers to some questions about the players he most admires and what he plans for the future. The young keeper is likely to complete a deal with Manchester United after the European U-21 Championships.

“I’d love to play until I’m 40, like Van der Sar,” he said. “You need to take care of yourself an awful lot to do that. Respect.”

He also had praise for another former United goalkeeper, claiming that Peter Schmeichel was his idol growing up and, in his opinion, the best goalie ever.

I think what he meant to say was “Jim Leighton is one of the finest specimens of goalkeeping excellence i’ve ever seen, his vaseline on the eyebrow trick is something I recreate everyday, just as a fashion statement- but in my opinion; Chris Turner is the greatest goalkeeper I’ve ever seen…”

Fair play though, he’s making the right noises- na na, na na na na, De Geaaaa- Man United”

  2. red says:

I hope we get this deal done soon!

And say sack Young off and get Sanchez instead then get center mid sorted and we are laughing!

I hope Nani stays as well.

Aparently we are in the running for Sanchez now….. i hope this is true!!!!

  3. Limbu says:

Looks like he has finally made up his mind to join us.

  4. t says:

maybe nani or Sanchez could play centre mid

  5. Lazynerd says:

It was funny seeing him play against his future mates (Jones Smalling Cleverly and Wellbeck) we will see if they will get to play together regularly.

Does anyone know where all the money is coming from I know we are being smart about it and we are spending on young players who can serve us for years but surely something must have happened as we are paying big money for multiple players.

  6. RedScorpion says:

… and my favourite colour is Red, and my favourite manager is Sir Alex, and Gary Neville is the best right-back in the world …

  7. devil without a cause says:

dare i say our No. 1 goalkeeper for the next two decades is decided and also that our defense has been sorted out for the next decade and a half???????

  8. Lebenglese says:

He is just letting us know that he is still keen on the deal, and for us not to misinterpret his request for some time and space, as confusion about his future. This kid is united bound, and he is the real deal after watching that last minute save in the first half vs the under 21′s. Understandable he doesn’t want all the press and ex fans swamping him, that is the last thing you need during a tournament.

@ Red. – If we can snap up Young for around 15-16 mil, then I don’t see why we shouldn’t, he has already adapted to the premier league, is coming into his prime, is pacy, has a couple of tricks up his sleep, and can knock in a deadly cross, and willing to come off the bench to fight for his place.. in my eyes that is a bargain. Undoubtedly, Sanchez would be ideal, but unless the glazers are willing to fork up at least 30 mil, I can’t see it happening.

  9. sam bolya says:

Delight and commitment is best Dea Gee go a head and Man-u 4 a better future.

  10. theboy says:

I believe he also said, “I remember seeing old footage of Paddy Roache when I was younger. The way he used to close his eyes when coming out to collect a ball, inspired me to become a keeper”.

  11. T4M says:

    Van De Gea!

  12. Bobby says:

I would say get Sanchez, Young, Rodriquez, Snider, Jones and De Gea. Loan off Oberturn, Bebe Macheda and Deof!! Bring back Tom, Richie and Danny, offload Owen, Brown, Oshea and Gibson. Promote Tanclife, Morison and Pogba to senior team and Let Giggs retire and the team is sorted for the next couple of years. Its my opinion so you don’t have to agree but just to respect.

  13. udemsky says:

i’m loving de gea already.there is nothing wrong in having five quality wingers in nani, toni v,park, young and sanchez.some of the above players are quite versatile.however it does spell the end for someone, maybe obertan.we badly need a creative midfielder, what we have in the midfield already can win the epl but can’t conquer europe.SAF pls get us a creative midfielder and the world is ours.

  14. Unitedfanatic says:

This lad has United written all over him. Just wish this deal was tied up before the U-21 championships, unless a fee has been agreed. That way his fee can’t go up, can it? And any news on whether he has had his medical yet??

  15. red says:

Nani, Valencia, park, young and sanchez?? Are all those really needed?

If anything we need more center mids than wingers. No need for Young if we go for Sanchez, dont want Nani to go as hes better than Young!

  16. parryheid says:

Would be wise to see how he performs in an United shirt against premier teams before anythings sorted.

  17. mesh says:

Just a question of time until he’s officially a VDS replacment.

  18. Zelh says:

red – keep cool. noboday can guarantee that we are signing sanchez. and De Gea will join United.

  19. Lloyd™ says:

    we’re not signing Sanchez,get over it…

  20. Whiteside says:

Thanks for info David Gill, sorry Lloyd.

  21. sachu says:

    @zelh
    mate
we have not been linked with goalkeepers for a while
    de gea is done deal
it will be nice to see sanchez in a united shirt i have to admit
i got no idea how fergie will manage all these wingers
    but he will

  22. Lovi_2 says:

I thik nao man utd can match Barca if thy av sanches en sneijda servces…!

  23. Zelh says:

It’s not even sure that we sign sanchez. Just speculation.

still not figured out how he would fit in.

  24. Jumping Jesus says:

Off topic here but several reports coming out stating we have won the race to sign Sanchez!!!

  25. jaylani says:

how many wingers does united want?? we will be having 4 world class wingers without any world class midfielders…. i just dont understand fergie sometimes. its the midfielders that we really need, not wingers

  26. Ash says:

Ashley young is a done deal.He will be unveil with jones and De gea on july 1.
I am very happy with our transfer target this season. We know what we want unlike other teams.
    Have Faith in SIR ALEX.

  27. clewoo says:

yeh hope nani stays also and if we have to bring mourinho to make him happy am sure ferige would step side for him in a year or 2, sanchez can be ued as a striker be an amazing new team next year if we get sanchez i really think owen we could have go rid of an gibson, brown & maybe oshea if go wont be much change as vandersar retired and scholes so be same amount bodies at utd but amazing quality now young,de gea, jones, sanchez ooo yeh bring on FIFA12!!!! aswell

  28. jaylani says:

following the battering we got from Barca, it was the midfield that was overran….why on earth i we looking for wingers or are we going to convert them as midfielders?

  29. Oldham says:

Would of been nice if he stated he wants to play until he’s 40, FOR UNITED.
Also its funny how when we were supposedly spending peanuts for complete unknowns (Smalling, Hernandez, et al), everyone was crying and pulling their hair, demanding the Glazers’ heads, claiming how they had tied SAF’s hands in the transfer market, and were ruining United (not that they are not). Now that we are throwing money around like an Arab prince at his favourite concubine’s 18th birthday, everyone’s asking where the money’s coming from. No pleasing some folk I guess.

  30. sachu says:

    @zelh
i have no idea as well mate about that
but fergie will get it right
but the race for sanchez seems to heading toward an end and somebody will get him
well we certainly are getting an active transfer summer

  31. Oldham says:

If reports are to be believed, United are in for Sin Cara!

  32. Giles Oakley says:

theboy & claytonblackmorestan, from what I hear, De Gea’s real inspiration was Barry Briggs, and they don’t come much bigger than that.

I must say, I rather agree with those asking why we’re in for so many wingers when it’s our central midfield that need sorting.

  33. Whiteside says:

We’re the champions so we’re the target but we ain’t no sitting duck cos we have the pedal to the metal and accelerating over the horizon…smell ya later muvvas.

  34. aimanunited says:

Does anybody know whether Sanchez good at set pieces esp freekicks or not?
watch his vids in youtube and he looks a very good dribbler but I’m not comparing him to CR or Messi.
will be one of the candidates to restore the greatness of United no 7, besides Nani and Young.

  35. Zelh says:

sachu – that’s what it is. Fergie has already a system in his head. He knows exactly what he’s after. maybe Sanchez is also a signing for next year like Jones but he just doesn’t want to lose out on him. who knows.

  36. redorded says:

    Morning all.
@Sachu. So many wingers! I can see Giggsy leaving soon and Nani off to sunnier shores (sadly). SAF should also consider Eden Hazard who is another Messi-like playmaker and player.

Is it just me or is everyone surprised by all this spending. Maybe the goal (pun intended) has become the beating of Barca – in which case a) watch out Premiership – put number 20 on the trophy now; and b) maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing being played off the field at Wembley?

I wonder what the odds will be for United to do a quadruple this year?

  37. sachu says:

    @redorred
    mate i expected the spending
fergie said last season that wen scholes and giggs retires we will strech ourselves inthe market
well thats wat he is doing
i dont think jones is asigning he had in mind for this summer
but he wanted to sign him and wen others became intrested fergie decided to act
    de gea young were planned
also sanchez is the guy who we are linked iwth every minute it seems

  38. hesafekkingidiot says:

“too many wingers, i dont understand fergie, need a cm” etc etc etc

sit back and watch for fucks sake, you know nothing, SAF knows plenty

luckily for the faithful it’s his job not yours

  39. wayne says:

@Lazynerd i seem to have to repeat this on every thread obviously you don’t follow utd news closely.for over a year now sir alex and gill have said there’s plenty of money in the transfer kitty quotes of 160mill.so to your answer the money for the transfer is coming from the transfer kitty.
i’ve never cut or paste my posts but i think i’m going to have to,it made me mad when people called sir alex a liar about having money to spend and it seems some still don’t believe him now he’s spending it.its always been the abus and glazier haters that said utd are broke its never come from anyone in the club and now the club are showing everyone the press and haters were full of shit.

  40. WHAT ??? says:

    Easy ROM!!!!

Hopefully we’ll know whats going on with De Gea officially in a few weeks.

    But all this Sanchez talk…..

I think its all bollocks to sell papers.

    1) the ABU PRESS LOVE to say we’re after a player so they can say we’ve been SNUBBED and we’re on the decline. Power shift in the City and all that bollocks.

    2) they love to say we’re signing players to unsettle our players or MAKE THEM LOOK unsettled. A Nani Story is a no brainer if your a Cunt Journo with no morals.

    3) They make Nani out to be flashy and arrogant and he may look like that on the pitch but I’ve got it on “good authority” in real life he’s a solid bloke. He ain’t going anywhere.

    4) Wouldn’t be surprised if Young is the midfielder we’re expecting Alex to buy. What do we want in the middle for next year? A brilliant passer of the ball short and long, a constant goal threat through the middle, and a telepathic link with the strikers. Young ticks all those boxes.

    5) Valencia has had two brilliant Seasons, he ain’t going anywhere either

    6) We had Valencia and Fletcher out for most of the Season, two HUGE players, and we had Anderson out as well and look how he finished the Season.

    7) With De Gea, Young, and Jones in, plus Cleverley / Welbeck back. We’re good to fucking GO.

    8) Any more players on top of what we have and we’re spilt ROTTEN.

    9) Anderson is gonna be like a new signing next year, his passing is out of this world and he’s only just started to look like a regular first team player. With the Legend hanging up his boots, its Anderson’s time to shine. Im more excited about seeing him get more games then bringing in someone else.

    10) Personally, with his passing, pace, 2 good feet and goals, I think Young brings enough to the table already. He’s NEVER played for in an 11 like United before. 4-4-2 him and Ando? or Fletcher?

  41. Dazbomber says:

Is any one on twitter ? A friend says it on there that we have signed him 37 mill . Possible bullshit

  42. MarkoWire says:

Very interesting about Sanchez. Some people are right on here. Sanchez, Giggs, Nani, Valencia, Park, Young (maybe). Thats a lot of wingers. Sanchez isn’t a player who sits on the bench… I wouldn’t complain if United signed him coz the guy is clearly talented, but personally most of you would agree that Wes Snijder is the perfect option for United. He has everything in his game and the guy can take free kicks something United have lacked since Ronnie left. maybe Fergie might sign both but cant see that happening due to cost.

Either way in Fergie we trust……

  43. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Ah, but playing until 40 is not the problem, is it? Most any goalkeeper who can maintain a respectable level of fitness can play until, or even after, that age. The problem is playing with the standards that Van Der Sar has demonstrated for the past two years.

In the past 5 years, Van Der Sar has been PFA Goalie of the Year in 3 of them. That is just insane for a man who should in the twilight of his career and should be playing in a team that is barely making the cut, not in a team that is fighting for all the honors and where he is an integral member of that team.

Very few people like Frieder, Van Der Sar and Schwarzer even have the mental fortitude and physical fitness to keep playing on until 40. Even fewer can do it consistently at the highest level fighting on 3 fronts.

It would be amazing if De Gea can do it, but it is not going to be easy, especially with the culture in which modern footballers live with all the partying, booze, ladies, sex etc.

  44. Norman says:

Anyone maybe think that fergie could be bringing Sanchez for the creative playmaker in the middle? He has the versatility for that, I’ve wanted him at united for years and I’m praying to god the deal gets done, plus bring on de gea!! Can’t wait for FIFA 12 now!!!!

  45. bayobuya says:

    In other news http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk//news/football/man-united-win-race-to-sign-27m-south-american-superstar/

How true is this and what does it meean for Ashley young who hasnt signed yet?

  46. WHAT ??? says:

so thats how you do the cool smiley!

    8)

Plus, Sanchez this Sanchez that, do you understand how good he would have to be, just to be better than Young? Look at Young’s statistics in England. Goals and Assists. Then look at how many different positions he can play. People are talking as if Sanchez is a better player, but Young scored nearly as many goals from midfield as Sanchez did playing up front. And he did it in OUR league. If Sanchez arrives and has the Season Nani has, he’d be amazing, if he arrives and has the Season Young has had, he’d be amazing. BIRDS IN THE HAND AND ALL THAT

  47. WHAT ??? says:

LOL @ SPORTS VIBE DOT CO DOT UK

  48. Costas says:

I agree with WHAT? about Sanchez. I’d be very surprised if the deal happened.

  49. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@WHAT ??, Ah, but Young doesn’t have a fancy European or South American name and isn’t sought out by Barcelona also. He is just Ashley Young who plays for Aston Villa. How can he be better than Alexis Sanchez who plays for Udinese and who is being chased by the European Champions?

  50. wayne says:

its fucking madness, don’t remember utd having so many deals ‘done’ without any being annonced, good thing at least nothing about any of our lads wanting out.

  51. Oldham says:

    Henderson= solid signing for Liverpoo.
Gervinho= potential superstar for the Arse.
    Jones= expensive gamble by United.
    Fucking give up!

  52. fergie is the boss says:

Your damn right de gea, that schmecheal was the best goalie ever

  53. Oldham says:

Love the way What ??? Broke down the whole Ashley Young vs Alexis Sanchez bullcrap.

  54. WHAT ??? says:

@Balaji I’ve been saying it mate, slap some orange tan on Young, slip a black curly wig down the front of his shirt, give him a gypsy gold chain and a funny accent and he’s be more exotic… no wait he’d be Scouser! Seriously, nothing against Sanchez but we’ve already done very good business bringing in Young. People said we needed an impact player in the middle that can pass and shoot. BANG.

@Costas – mate I’d be beyond suprised. I think his agent is playing silly buggers to get his price and profile up. Looks like he mainly played as Striker last Season hence his 12 goals but Nani and Young can do that from the middle while playing on either side of the pitch. I think he’ll go to City and then we’ll have to hear about United falling from grace after winning the 19th (don’t laugh)

  55. Costas says:

Rumor has it that abregas hasn’t signed with Barca yet, because we will make a 40 million offer. And Ronaldo turned down City’s offer, because we will make a 150 million pound offer. You heard it here first.

  56. ted says:

Charlie Adam’s transfer to Liverpool has hit an impasse: Blackpool are demanding £10m but Dalglish is refusing to pay a penny less than £22m

  57. Zelh says:

What – Sanchez played behind the striker. the same way young did at villa. the played on the ten but as learned wingers they drift outside and that what makes them so hard to mark.
Dunno if Ferguson is after him or not, but IF he is after him, he’ll have his reasons.

  58. CedarsDevil says:

Morning / Afternoon all true REDS

As I mentioned yesterday on another thread I have never actually seen this Sanchez fella play, I hardly ever watch the Italian league…… Just out of curiosity I would really appreciate a decent insight from someone who has watched him. I need to understand why some are almost praying that we sign him…

De Gea on the other hand I have seen a few times and he never failed to impress, I hope the deal gets done otherwise what are the remaining options?

  59. wayne says:

@Oldham don’t get what you’re on about mate, utd and sunderland have a good relationship and bruce has interest in utd players so sir alex could’ve made a deal for henderson easy obviously sir alex decided we didn’t need him, good enough for me and if jones turns out to be a bust so be it but every top club in england were chasing him, pretty sure top managers in the game know a little more than you

  60. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Who is this abregas fella? Is he any good? :-)

  61. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Cedars, I actually don’t think United have any backup lined up. So, if De Gea does a complete U-Turn which is completely improbable, then you are going to be content with seeind Anders Lindergaard in goal. :P

  62. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@wayne, I think what he’s trying to get at is that all other targets are considered to great signings by the British press whereas anybody who signs for us is supposed to an expensive gamble. Especially when the signing in question is considered to be a candidate for future England captain. It is just another way of highlighting how ABU the British press is.

  63. CedarsDevil says:

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Manchester-United-set-to-sign-27million-Alexis-Sanchez-from-under-Manchester-City-and-Barcelona-noses-article746952.html#ixzz1PI5yUMhc

Seems like total bollocks to me and completely made up…. How on earth did they know that he would ‘prefer’ United?

  64. Zelh says:

Cedars – I can remember there was an interview a year or two ago he said he would love to play in the PL cause it would suite him and that he would want to play for united.

that’s why the papers say he “prefers” united.

  65. wayne says:

ok i missed the sarcasm,if that’s the case my bad Oldham

  66. CedarsDevil says:

    Balaji

So what you are saying is if we do not get De Gea than we’re fucked? Come on be honest, I am old enough to handle the truth! :-)

    wayne

Mate, I agree with Balaji, Oldham was taking the piss out of the press

  67. wayne says:

its hard nowadays to seperate trolls pretending to be utd fans and reds being sarcastic.

  68. Costas says:

    @WHAT ???

Seems like that to me too. You get a lot of that going around. To be fair, it is quite possible that Gill is(or was) in Italy recently, but there have been many situations where our club’s name has been used to enflate transfer fees and wages. Not to mention bragging rights (you know, said player “chose City or Liverpool over United”). Like Scott said a few years back about Tevez, if a player is torn about joining City or United, he isn’t worth it.

    @Cedars

Ab-regas is someone with more abs than Fabregas. :P

  69. CedarsDevil says:

    Zelh

Fair enough buddy, but you can understand why I do not trust anything them buggers write

  70. CedarsDevil says:

    wayne@ 12:00

Well said my friend, well said

  71. WHAT ??? says:

@Oldham – if im wrong mate I’ll be the first to say so and welcome him. But we’re all guessing, and ask me Alex is a ruthless pragmatist. Someone like Kenny or Mancini would break the bank for a Sanchez and then stand there with their arms folded on the sidelines watching a lopsided team. Alex just quietly signs the best proven players in England (Smalling, Jones, Young last 12 months) and keeps it moving with a well balanced squad. Rather then sign one big-name fuck off player, he’d sign one player who brings the others into play. Carrick played a huge role in Ronaldo’s success believe it or not, by always finding him on the break after we got the ball. All now, people still under estimate what Carrick quietly does in the middle, but Alex doesn’t, and thats why he’s the Best Manager to ever do it.

  72. henrilee says:

i think fergie shud buy sanchez nd snidjier for d man utd faithful cus wit both in our team, we can beat any team in d world. Plz i appeal wit d glazer family to avail funds 4 d both signing

  73. Zelh says:

Cedars – Of course I understant that. I don’t believe it either, but I trust in Ferguson to get the right players. If he thinks we need Young and Sanchez, so be it.

  74. sachu says:

    @cedarsdevil
good morning mate hope you are well
    about sanchez
well ihave watched abt 20or more gamesof him plus the world cup with chile
i have to say he is damn good and yes could be great no doubt
he can play right left behind the striker as well but favourite is right side and thtas why i fear for nani if sanchez arrives
also sanchez tracks back very commited player indeed
and if you remember fergie said a while ago that sanchez can reach ronaldo level
well we have to trust fergie
he will be a huge hit no doubt
also i like to point out 1 game between palermo and udinese
palermo has pastore who along with sanchez are best young players in serie a
well sanchez killed palermo with 4 goals and pastore was shit as hell
no disrespect to pastore but sanchez was the boss
so if fergie signs him then he has asystem in mind and will work accordingly
message is GO AND GET SANCHEZ HELL YEAH

  75. WHAT ??? says:

@ Costas – mate, some parts of Italy are absolutely beautiful this time of year. World-Class Stunning. For all we know he’s getting some sun on his bones and switching off. If he went to Morocco instead the Media would simply look up the biggest talent in North Africa and report thats our latest “Summer Splash Swoop Souk Shocker” (You’ve always gotta fir the word SHOCKER in there somewhere)

  76. kanchelskis says:

I can’t believe it’s still 76 days til the end of the transfer window.

76 days of pointless uncertainty and speculation. ARGH

  77. sachu says:

    @cedarsdevil
mate he has said in the past that he has adream of joining us
but recently barca were the club showing most intrest and thats why he said barca move would be nice
also anyone will prefer us over shitty
barca have only 45 million and they want rossi more
    so its us or shitty

  78. CedarsDevil says:

    WHAT??? @ 12:04

    Great post Paul… spot on

    Zelh

Agreed, even if Sir Alex was after some unknown from Bora Bora then who am I to argue! Seriously though you are right if the boss wants Sanchez or any other player he will get my blind support, after all he is the best in the business

  79. CedarsDevil says:

    sachu

Thanks for the info on Sanchez and I will take your word for it that he is as good as you say he is…. If its for the benefit of our club than great, only Sir Alex will know that

yes may be.. that would be great..

i dont want to comment on Sanchez..i m not even sure whether Gill travelled to barca to make a deal..

nothing on our official website yet plus these fucking news papers..what a shitty world i m living in :)

    @ Cedarsdevil..

hello mate, hope u doing great..

Yesterday was my Birthday and i m sober now :) :P

    whatz ur view on..

    Sanchez Young, Ando/Fletch/Carrick, Nani/Valencia…

i think Sanchez is the answer for life after ever green and glorious Ryan giggs the legend..

  81. CedarsDevil says:

When we signed Hernandez last summer I said WHO? Look at how that one turned out!

    In Sir Alex we trust

  82. CedarsDevil says:

    sandeep1878

Happy birthday my friend, I am doing well thanks……

Personally I hope that next season we will finally see the true potential of Anderson, we saw glimpses last season with his driving forward runs but injuries and at times loss of form held him back, he will come good. As for Carrick and Fletch, they are both vital to our cause, Carrick was excellent during the second half of the season and poor old Fletch had to deal with some damn virus the poor bugger, he will also come good again…. Remember Sir Alex did not give them both new contracts for nothing

the ROM is berserk for ur punctuation just like the OT crowd and UTD fans after 37 seconds at OT against chelsea..:)

    hope u doing good mate..

nice posts and you are the one in ROM who wants Sanchez to be at UTD the most :) but he is quality player indeed and versatility will only add to his profile..

where is stateside aussie :) has he become offside aussie :P

  85. Kevin says:

I dont get it with some people. When Sir Alex says there is money but wants to spend it when there is value, some people question if he is saying the truth. When he spends like he is now, some ask where the money is from. Damn, you cant win them can you?
De Gea will finalise our back five for years to come. I have heard that next year there wont be any big money signings by clubs like Real and City, I am not sure I understood what the meant

  86. Jeet says:

    @Kevin: exactly my thoughts.

  87. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

    i do not call you
    bofa for no reason
i hope you are doing well
    i missed you buddy

  88. Zelh says:

Kevin – Citeh can’t splash the cash cause of the FFP. If they want to compete in CL aund EL they have to get down their wages and so on.

  89. sandeep1878 says:

i m glad that no newspaper has linked us with RIBERY so far :)

    suprise innit? :P

  90. smartalex says:

    CedarsDevil!

    I am well, thanks!
By the way, there’s no point to your post at 12:38. Also, there is no comma, or question mark.
Punctuation isn’t just about needles, you know. Nurse!

sandeep1878 – A belated Happy Birthday to you! I’m still well (see above) thanks!

  91. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

It was complete sarcasm buddy, I thought you would have read through that, following through from your post at 12:26! As for the nurse, that is for the evening my friend! :-)

  92. aimanunited says:

@sandeep, I’m more surprised that we’re not going for joe cole because I heard some cunts said that he’s England Messi.

  93. smartalex says:

CedarsDevil – I knew it was sarcasm, and followed you lead:
    - ‘point’ is another word for ‘full stop’
    - Nurses ‘puncture’ their patients with needles, hence ‘punctuation’
All got lost in translation! I had a good laugh at your rip-off at 12:38!

  94. johnbosco obiora says:

with Sniejder and Sanchez we can do it again glory glory Man united

  95. WHAT ??? says:

    @Cedars cheers mate

@Sandeep – Many Happy Returns Pal – yeah, Young in the middle might be the plan. I know some of us were expecting more but its not like he hasn’t proved himself playing there either, and you can rely on him to find Rooney and Co, to carry the ball forward, and to keep possession when theres nothing on. Him and Ando in the middle with Ando playing defensively, nicking the ball and threading it forward. Its a crazy plan but it just might work!

  96. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Cheers for that buddy, I am just getting too slow these days…. Blimey, I should have read into that!

  97. willierednut says:

Kevin – Bang on the heed! We don’t spend, we’re skint. We do spend and where the cash coming from? In all honesty, shut the fuck up!! Let Fergie and Gill get on with signing the players. THEY, not us, will decide who arrives this summer. If it is Sanchez(he ain’t a winger by the way) then so be it. If a CM isn’t signed, then Fergie will blood some of the young lads. And Cleverley will be back also. It’s looking really exciting for the future. United are shaking the foundations in the market. Maybe, we’ve caught our rivals on the hop, with the way we’re going after players? I guess, they thought we were broke. Apparently, that ain’t the case. Roll on next season, 19!

  98. Louis says:

I hope its either young or sanchez not both.

  99. willierednut says:

Sanchez young of Chile origin? 8)

  100. WHAT ??? says:

    Chile Sauce?

  101. CedarsDevil says:

Green Tabasco……..Gets air blowing out of your ears …Love it

  102. Fred says:

De Gea sounds like a top red. Will he spend the rest of his career with us? 20 years?? 8O

  103. Fred says:

    @Louis – the more, the merrier. 8)

  104. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred

Any news on the Young deal? :-)

  105. CedarsDevil says:

How do you buggers get them smiley thingy bobs? I only know one which makes me less of a dumb fuck than TonyBee, but seriously lads give us some tips

  106. denton davey says:

WillieRedNut @ 13:23: “If it is Sanchez(he ain’t a winger by the way) then so be it.”

IF it is Sanchez then that signing would certainly ask a few questions about the future position of WayneBoy. The “new Scholes” ? We’ve heard that song before – is the fat lady clearing her throat ?

A front six composed of Sanchez, Chicharito, Valencia and Nani playing as “forwards” in front of some variant of WayneBoy and one of DarrenFletcherinho/MIchael Carrick in midfield. Six backups including Dimmy, LittleMikey, Danny Welbeck (?), ThreeLungPark, SirRyanGIggs, and the inconsistent, last-chance Anderson.

What about Ashley Young ? I reckon that if Alexis Sanchez is the target then Ashley Young has been the diversion since it doesn’t seem reasonable to sign both.

  107. willierednut says:

    Chile Willy!

  108. Jeet says:

    @Denton: Hmmm…interesting re:Rooney’s position.

  109. willierednut says:

denton davey – As far as I know, the Young deal is done in principal. He’s on holiday and when he comes back, the deal will be completed. Again though, the manager knows his squad. It’s a problem, but a nice problem to have. We got caught out last season, when Tony v got injured. We won’t be caught out this time…

  110. Fred says:

@Cedars – no news at all, but no news is good news! ;) The only news I can give you is that I will be delighted when he is conformed as a United player. How’s that for ya? :D

  111. Fred says:

@Cedars – here are all the smileys and how to make them, pal. :) http://randym0ss.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/wordpress-smileys.png

  114. Fred says:

AC Milan are after a mystery player they are calling “Mr. X” http://www.football-italia.net/jun15h.html

  115. Fred says:

“Milan chief Adriano Galliani has responded to questions on Mr X, Kaka, Marco Borriello, Ganso, Stephan El Shaarawy, Thiago Silva and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Surrounded by journalists at the Lega Calcio offices in Milan this morning, Galliani talked transfers.

“If Mr X arrives then he will come at the end of August, during the last few days of the transfer window,” he stated. “And it will only be one signing.”

    The identity of Mr X, a left-sided midfielder, remains a mystery…”

  116. willierednut says:

    Fred – Malcolm? :)

  117. CedarsDevil says:

Fred – Cheers for that link, better get on it quick before TontBee beats me to it…

Willie – Show off springs to mind :-) The only one I know so far

Seriously though fellas I agree with what Willie said, having cover is crucial, we got found out when Tony V was out and made the sprint to no 19 when he got back…. Back up is vital, its a squad game after all

  118. wayne says:

just don’t see rooney as a centre midfield player, his first touch is not always the greatest and doesn’t have a great left foot,he needs to be further up field running into pockets of space, don’t fancy him as a cm at all

  119. CedarsDevil says:

    Sorry meant TonyBee

  120. willierednut says:

Cedars – Lol. You got it!

  121. CedarsDevil says:

Willie – I did indeed, you see unlike TonyBee I still have some brain left! lol

    BTW, Fixtures out this Friday.

  141. musca says:

sanchez here, sanchez there, whats so good about this lad anyway rather than his speed and dribbling skills. i’d prefer young, he can cross well and take free kicks. wont mind seeing nani go.

  142. willierednut says:

    Balaji –

  143. Passe says:

    “Wont mind seeing nani go”
    Care to elaborate?
He has cut down on the diving, was our most creative player if we look at the whole season and carried the team when Rooney decided it was time for some contract negotiations à la Paul Stretford.

  144. denton davey says:

musca @ 16:27: “whats so good about this lad anyway rather than his speed and dribbling skills. i’d prefer young, he can cross well and take free kicks. wont mind seeing nani go.”

Are you being serious ? on all three counts ? ? ?

    smartalex

Duly noted buddy…. Do as you please my friend…

  198. josha990 says:

David De Gea is potentially a superb keeper – but – Manutd shouldn’t go for him. He will spend some time at Manutd and then try to return to Barcelona / Real Madrid (that’s a given, unless you are Arteta who has shown remarkable dedication to Everton)

Why shud we convert him to one of the best only to lose him say when he turns 28-29 (close to peaking).

No way I’d say Mark Stekelenberg is a superb keeper and he loves United – he will stick around for long and has successfully replaced VDS for the Oranje.

  199. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

I suppose we should give the guy a break, he does seem genuine, annoying yet genuine

  200. willierednut says:

Cedars – I was at the fairground mate. Seen a sad show and had to hold back the tears.

  201. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

Also why the Hell has SAF let Abdoulaye Diagne Faye Slip through the net again. This guy is phenommanonomanomal & Has improved his former teams immensly. Just look at how well Bolton, Newcastle & Stoke are doing Now !

What Fucking What Fergie WTF ! Don’t flop again like you did with Morten Gamst Pederson :(

  204. Zibbie says:

SAF and Gill had their home work done, and it seems like business to be done soon and have their choices in for the lintier preseason to meld as well as they can with the team.

  205. CedarsDevil says:

Papii – Piss off and stop making me burst a lung laughing !

Willie – I know what you mean, reading that ‘something got me started’

  207. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

  208. willierednut says:

  214. ishaqwise gombe.nigeria says:

i wil urge sir fergie, to stop talkn abt winger…plz cox we’re facing lake of cntr midfldrs nt wingrz….

  215. mattos says:

i have to admit after reading his interviews it doesn’t seem like he really wants to come to old trafford.

  216. Lebenglese says:

Cmon guys give the kid a break. He has alot on his plate at the moment, and its enough having all the pressure on him to do well in the U’21′s, on top of that, he has to stand up to his price tag, as well as trying to keep cool about the whole situation. De Gea is our boy, and he will grow to love the club with a large deal of passion. He has already stated twice that he wants to fill Van der Sar’s boots, and how he is his idol, alongside Schmeichel. Come July 1′st, or the end of the tourny, he will officially be a United boy.

And about the whole “Choosing to support Barca over United” Fiasco, someone posted a reply to it on the other thread in Transfers which is extremely logical. If a young england keeper was about to move to a spanish team, and the English were playing the Spanish the in CL Final, it is only logical for him to support his own roots and nationality. Dont go slagging him off just because he was supporting Barca, his home country, and currently best team in the world.

Get Sneijder in the bag, alongside Defour/Banega for the future and we got it sorted.

    Nuff said.

  217. smartalex says:

Well said on de Gea at 12:46 Lebenglese!

Further, to those that express concern that de Gea might one day leave United, I say, so what!
If we are to limit our ‘imports’ to those that will probably never leave, we would only be able to get players over 30 years old, no matter their nationality. While it is true that people yearn for home, and that countries with strong teams are more likely to draw back their ‘exports’, if we are to apply that logic we should only import from weak footballing nations. Ridiculous and naive.
