De Gea: I’m At A Huge Club

David de Gea, who made several costly mistakes last season as he made the adjustment from Spain, is well aware that there is a lot more pressure on him at United than anywhere he’s been before.

“I’m at a huge club now and there are big demands on you,” he said. “As a goalkeeper, I’m well aware that any mistake can be magnified by the fans. But it’s true that here at Manchester United there’s added pressure. It’s bigger right now than it was for me at Atletico Madrid and also for Spain Under-21s.”

I thought MUFC fans might be interested in this bumper quiz:

    Great prizes too!

Of course you are at a huge club my son. In world football only Barca & Real are in the same league in terms of support. The Italian teams have lost their shine since the match fixing scandal

David is right, there is more pressure at United. Take the weekend. You never hear about any of the other keepers mistakes. But every game we are reminded by the idiot of the day about some “questions” in DeGea’s abilities.

For my money, DeGea is one of the top keepers in the league right now. For me, the so called pressure is more to do with the ABU press than from real fans. In my view, most fans would be happy to let the lad mature into the English game. It’s not like van der Saar or Schmickes never made mistakes either.
But it is really imposible to be completely fair to the lad when you have the national press overreacting to every goal like it was a shot to his character or some fundamental failure in his abilities. Even this week we are linked in the papers to at least 2 keepers. Yesterday there was a piece linking us with Sunderlands Simon Mignolet. Just to some arsenal loving journo trying to keep the pressure up, that’s all it is.

The seeming fluidity at the back doesn’t help either. For me, DeGea was replaced by Linde for 3 games because he had his wisdom teeth out. Fair enough and end of. Now he’s back and let’s hope we don’t give the pundits any more fuel than we have to.

Linde should play the FA Cup tie, but I am hoping De Gea gets a run of games and everyone can blame the defense or the midfield if, gods forbid, the opposition actually sneak a goal or two.

Hope he is our keeper for a very long time.

There’s pressure on every Utd player just goes with the territory with Utd it’s news with most other clubs it isn’t.Some players can’t hack it others become better for it think DDG is in the latter,he’s pretty unorthodox so i think that just adds to some of the media having a go

still remembered the time when he was about to sign for us, so I went on Youtube and watched his performances for Atletico and I thought, “fuck me, he’s quality!”.

  6. Proverb says:

Shinji Kagawa has recovered from a knee injury and
    will probably play against Swansea.

That’s what I’m talking about baby!

  7. Redninja says:

I wander if all those that keep talking about his mistakes sees the saves he use to make too, please give him a brake and see how he progres.

  8. wayne says:

Way off topic but listening to talksport,Gooners most deluded bunch of cunts ever.Gooner phones in all about its not Le Arse’s way to spend millions on players bring players up from scratch
That is the biggest bunch of nonsesnse ever how many players in Le Arse first team came through the ranks, even the youngsters in the team were bought from other clubs.Wenger has spent millions just not on very good players
I’m so tired of these self rightoues cunts their wage bill is a 145 mill and nearly every player in their first team squad have been bought

  9. Rednemz says:

He’s incredibly good but media won’t highlight that…we don’t care what you say, we know you want to sell

  10. samuel - united WE stand says:

Has huge potential and capabilities to rank amongst the world class keepers with time and patience. He’s not there yet but gradually, he is working towards it. In my opinion, he should be the undisputed number one. The rotation needs to stop. It seems lindegaard is getting games due to his “I’m not here to pick my nose ” quote, i think de gea is the better keeper, the Dane is a second choice at best.

Oh lord, the banner ads have arrived to our humble little blog. Congrats, STR!

    Though I can’t say I like the look :(

  12. Ash says:

Arsenal have also spent good amount of money on players. It is just that most of them have been mediocre
Arsenal have bought following players in last few seasons
    Arteta
    Gervinho
    Mertesacker
    Podolski
    Santos
    Giroud
    Cazorla
    Chamberlain
    Jenkinson
    Chamakh
    Park chu young
    Miyachi

Now these players have joined goons in last 2 seasons. Hell even we have not bought so many players.
In all these players only cazorla looks good. Rest are just hit and miss and some are pathetic buys.
Its not like they have bought these players for free. They have spent millions.
How could say they don’t spend. CRY BABIES

  13. Ash says:

Speaking about de gea. We have got real player in our hands. He has turned just 22 so stop comparing him with VDS,Great Dane or buffon or any other great keeper. He will learn his trade by playing regularly.
Look at rafael. He has become our first choice rb by playing regularly. He has improved immensely. Same kind of opportunities should be given to the likes of de gea,Smalling,Cleverly,Welbeck, jones etc. All the names mentiones are talented players. It is just that we need to be patient.

  14. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

    Yes you are DDG :)

And also. What a splendid pundit G. Nev has become. Earning applauds even from the ABUs. Love him.

  15. tom c says:

good thing you aren’t at a massive club David!

  16. AlphaRS says:

DDG has the potential to become one of the worldd best goal keepers. This we know.
Wait until Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking and we will see what happens.

  17. Ash says:

If real or Barca does make a move for our de gea then I hope this time we demand more money. I felt we made a poor business in ronaldo’s transfer. I know 80 million is a hell lot of money but still I feel we could have asked for more or atleast bought Sneijder or van der vaart + 80 millions.
I don’t think de gea will be going anywhere.

  18. AlphaRS says:

    @Ash
I mentioned the £80 million plus Sneijder and Van Der Vaart but was told on here they were shite. Which at the time would have added some competition in the midfield of water carriers at the time.

  19. BSF OHA says:

DDG is among the top three GK in the Epl. Topclass
