David de Gea wasn’t named in the matchday squad for Manchester United’s game against Sunderland but Jose Mourinho has revealed that the injury isn’t serious.

De Gea should be back for next weekend’s game against Chelsea while Sergio Romero, who starts against Sunderland, will play on Thursday against Anderlecht as he would have done anyway in the Europa League.

“David has a little problem,” said Mourinho. “He hasn’t travelled. Normally Sergio plays in the Europa League and that is next Thursday so that’s not ideal for him at all.”

When asked if De Gea’s injury is long term, Mourinho replied: “No. He’ll be ready for the next fixture.”
