Will Keane is likely to miss most of next season after tearing his cruciate ligament.
Keane has been playing with England in preparation for the U-19 European Championships. He scored twice for them last week in qualifying against Slovenia. He was subbed off with an hour played against Switzerland this week in which the 1-0 win secured their qualification.
Keane probably had a pre-season tour to look forward to this summer after a great season with the Reserves.
Instead of trying to break in to the first team next season, with a loan move or playing the odd League Cup game and whatever else may have come his way, he will spend the season recuperating before hopefully getting some games for the Reserves before next summer. Blackburn had been reportedly interested in taking him on loan.

Well there is a bit of a jinx somewhere whenever a United player turns out for England, too many to mention, but it goes way back, such as Steve Coppell getting a career -ending injury at Wembley v Hungary in 1981 ( I remember the match as it was the first time I’d gone out for a bit of pleasure with my bro after our Dad died). Course I didn’t know then that Coppell would never really recover, though God knows he tried, but it was obvious it was bad. Only good thing about that match was meeting Denis Law in the press lounge, smoking a furtive cigarette tucked behind his hand. I say ‘meeting’, in truth it was more gazing in awe at the great man as he chatted to friends. His King-of-the-Stretford-End blonde hair was still as impressive as ever. All it needed was a blur of speed and an over-head scissors kick to bury the ball behind the barman to complete the scene.
Another jinxed career at United was Neil Webb, who got injured for England after about a week in 1989, and never again regained the quality he had before. I could go on…

Ruud was already a 25 yrs old and a lot more experienced..,will is just 19 and is still developing and am afraid youngsters always have thier developments significantly hindered by such long term injuries.i sincerly hope he comes back as strong as ruud
This is tragic news but the only silver lining to this could be that this injury could be the making of him. I think of Ruud and Ole – and yes, even Hargreaves for a time. It will be a tough time for him but a good way of building character and hunger to grow when he’s back in action.
I think young players should be a little cocky and think they can do anything but it’s a fine line between doing that on a football field and being a tit off it (think of Ravel or even Pogba who had his head turned). When career threatening injuries come they force you to rethink how fickle life and football can be.
Will Keane is a good lad with a good head on his shoulders which is why I feel he will come back from this awful injury stronger as a maturing man and as a talented footballer.

Boo Bloody Hoo. So Romans pumped billions into Chelsea so that makes him a decent owner does it. This is what annoys me about so many fans of our club when it comes to the Glazers, they will demonise because they aren’t throwing billions at players as if spending billions is some kind of auturistic action. And Everytime these clubs make a loss and it needs covered by the owner he doesn’t just write a cheque and forget about it, no he does a debt for equity swap so the debt gets wiped out but then more preferential shares worth the value of the owners investment that pay out a guarenteed dividend amount each year are issued. A couple of years ago Romans preferential share value was in excess of 700mill and if he walks away at best Chelsea have to find the dividend each year which on 700mill is going to be substantial or at worst he’s going to want the shares bought back so that will by that point be over a billion needing to be found.
And without his money how do Chelsea pay the wage bill? They simply can’t .
For everything you might hate about the Glazers atleast they are running the club as a Self sustained business that could operate after they are gone rather than a play thing that could only survive afterwards if another sugar daddy is found.

David Johnson shouldn’t be taken too seriously. He is one of Ravels mates and wasn’t even that accurate with his Ravel info. They may very well still leave but let’s wait and see a more accurate source.
I mean seriously he is claiming City offered him 45k a week, Which is the same story he mentioned about Ravel and that didn’t seem t be true. I mean seriously even city aren’t going to offer two young players with no PL starts 90k between them
What we know is them along with Petrucci and any of the other youngsters who were out of contract they have been offered contracts so even if they do leave we will be due compensation. Hopefully the goto English clubs if they do turn the contracts down

Here’s an idea tho, I know Keane was on England duty but maybe instead of signing loads of players we just sack the medical and fitness staff and go out and get the best to replace them and then maybe our squad will stay fit for the entire season!! We would have walked it this year if we could have kept the team that started the season fit all year!!
I refuse to believe anything until it’s confirmed on the club’s official site. Like Mike said, there wouldn’t be rumors of us trying to get Baines if everything was fine with Fryers so it’s almost certain that Fryers will leave. It’s disappointing that two of our brightest youngsters are leaving us but the club will move on. We will attract other top young talents from around the world but if this trend (youngsters leaving our club for whatever reason without proving themselves) continues then I will slowly begin to lose faith in the youth system.
In other news, the club has finally released Kuszczak. The PIG never cut it at UTD but I hope he has a successful career elsewhere.
No one is leaving or staying yet amongst pogba, fryers and other younger players. I’ve read countless rumours about pogba being unveiled soon by juventus yet nothing but fuck all has happened. Most of them have been offered new deals and you’d hope they possess the belief and determination to make it. The likes of petrucci, larnell cole, lingard, maybe pogba (seems to be more likely to leave than stay but you never know) e.t.c should all take a look at the state of our current midfield and then be filled with ambition to break through, it’s not like we have a lot of players blocking their pathway, they just need belief and perhaps more chances from FERGIE and even if he gives them a chance, they must keep a level head and try showing what they’ve got. Hate when younger players fuck off and say ‘i need more games’, well you gotta earn it by proving it, no one gets guarantees.
JOHNSON was spot on when Ravel left. He’s a reliable source there’s no doubt about it. Gets a lot of inside info and knows a lot of the players personally like Rio, Ando etc. Goes to a lot of games as well…think he gets free tickets a lot of the time.

What does united’s medical staff have to do with keane getting a serious injury on international duty or any other player breaking down while on the pitch?. The medical people are there to give players the required treatment, tell them how long to recover e.t.c, i don’t think they have any super-power to control the body of an individual, what kind of injury they get, when they get it or if they do. It’s football and you can change as much as you like but it will happen again. The only way is to increase the squad, less the workload on players and give them rest. That’s why the winter break will come in sooner than you think.

@ Samuel – Sorry pal but the sports science, the medical team and the fitness lads work hand in hand, the fitness people are to try to prevent and the medical people are there to treat and try to avoid similar injuries happening again. If you read my post, you would have noticed that I spoke about the whole squad and if the team that started the season had stayed fit and mentioned that I knew Keane was on international duty. My point is maybe our fitness/medical and sports science staff arent all they are cracked up to be. How many players do we lose throughout a season compared to other teams?? too many!!
Ash – Don’t think so. Imho Zeki won’t even make the 1st team squad as a regular, let alone put Evra under pressure for the LB spot.
Have seen him week in week out with the reserves and there’s nothing about him. United need a bursting fullback who puts pressure on defenses and that’s something Fryers can’t or doesn’t do.
Only LB I rate is Tyler Blackett.

They are under 22 and because of that they are not ‘free’ to leave due to being offered contracts. Anyone who wants to sign them will either need to negotiate with United first or risk going to a tribunal to decide the compensation. If they goto an English club the tribunal will decide a higher fee than if they goto a Continetial club so ideally we want them to stay in England I they reject the contract.
Certainly none of them have left yet, even someone like Norwood who has indicated he won’t sign a new contract will still be at a club until he has a contract elsewhere and the compensation has been agreed so there’s still time for things to change.

The Chatter seems to be that Zeki wants 5k a week but United are offering 1.5k. His only other option seems to be Burnley so I think Zeki may be trying to call United bluff but it may backfire on him.

I agree, Fryers did have a massive improvement over the last 12 months but he is no where near a first team starter or even backup at this point. As you said Blackett seems to posses much greater potential.
Would be good if Zeki stays as perhaps he is a late bloomer and his improvement over the last year will continue but I doubt he would be a major loss
The problem with all these kids is agents, I think FIFA should bring in a rule that doesnt allow players to have an agent until tehy are 20 or 21. Get the clubs to have one in house agent that looks after all the young lads interests (doesnt make money from the kids coz his wage is paid by the club) and then it will be simply down to the player to decide if he wants to sign or not. I know its a pipe dream but at the mo you have some sorry arse agant filling the kids heads with magic and they buy it. Like Ravel, bet he was told go to West Ham and you will play every week and be a superstar, yeah that worked out well didnt it!!

@ Willie – Ive watched the lad Blackett, looks like a potentially top player, and he’s a big fucker too and likes a tackle, pretty sure he plays at centre back but not hundred percent on that. Only watched him a few times on MUTV but he has always stood out as one to watch for me. Some lad that plays up front or attacking mid as well caught my eye, cant remember his name right now but he likes a shot and seems to have a good eye for a pass as well. I want to say Sam is his first name but really can’t remember lol.

So with Owen and Berbatov gone and now Will Keane fucked for the forseeable future we are now looking pretty bare up front with only 3 strikers to choose from.It looks like Fergie will have to strongly consider buying a striker this summer and I would like to see Llorente from Bilbao arrive.It won’t happen though we’ll prob nab this youngster from Crewe along with Kagawa and thats it.

It looked bad when watching it and it is truly bad news. I have made it down to Moss Lane a few times this year and every time he has impressed me the most. I hope when he recovers he still will have a good chance to progress with us
