Does Vidic’s Absence Mean He’s Leaving? No, no, no, no…

No reason was given at first for Nemanja Vidic’s absence from the group of players travelling to Kuala Lumpur for the pre-season tour today, leading to whispers that he could be leaving.

Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck will also miss out.

It is believed that an ankle injury has lead to Vidic being ruled out and his agent, Paulo Fabbri, insists our defender is not moving clubs.

“No, no no no no no,” insisted Fabbri said. “Not at all. Absolutely not at all. There is absolutely no transfer for Vidic. And, we do not expect any transfer for the time being. No he will stay for sure.”

Travelling squad: Edwin van der Sar, Tomasz Kuszczak, Ben Foster; Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, John O’Shea, Fabio da Silva; Nani, Zoran Tosic, Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Darron Gibson, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs; Michael Owen, Dimitar Berbatov, Federico Macheda, Wayne Rooney.

  2. Oooodz says:

and its the wrong Da Silva you have missing

  3. boam6 says:

Suprised Valencia dint go on tour anyone no the reason? I was thinkin maybe give him time to go on holiday dint he cut his short to sign for us? Maybe he’ll play more games when they come home just thinkin does this affect his startin place for the start of the season?

  4. Macheda is GOD says:

    no obertan?

  5. Wiuru says:

Obertan in an earlier report is carrying an ankle knock.

Glad Vida is still with us .

  6. JTrappe says:

Obertan signed with an injury, so no chance of him joining up with the squad,

Who’d have guessed it out of our 3 summer signings Michael Owen is the only one without an injury. lol

  7. Dom says:

Says on the BBC Sport website that Obertan, Owen and Valencia all boarded the plane. Maybe they are travelling with the side, just not in the squad…

  8. Dom says:

Obviously Owen IS in the squad!

  9. Ygor, Brazilian Devil says:

is hargreaves out until january? :’(
    why welbeck is out too?

  10. willierednut says:

Vida staying, like to think so, jonny evans will keep rio and vida on their toes nxt season.

  11. Costas says:

See, this is happens when you are so secretive. Nemanja was injured over a month ago! Would it have been that difficult for the club or the coaching team to offer an update? Does anyone know if Vida has even started pre season training? Now we have the tabloids beginning their idiotic rumors.

  12. Andersn8 says:

Its the better Da Silva mensiond in the squad,im glad ta c fabio inda squad think he has more potential then rafael

  13. Mitty says:

Losing Vidic would be a bigger blow than losing Tevez.

  14. Macheda is GOD says:

    Mitty
    Vidic is staying.

  15. Macheda is GOD says:

Please kiko to score a goal.
(P.s if vidic goes i would cry)

  16. willierednut says:

Why would vidic’s agent even have to come out and deny that he’s going anywere, strange.

  17. Costas says:

Vidic’s agent came out and spoke, because no one from the club had the decency to say that he has been injured for a while now and as a result the rumors started. It’s not like we had updates about why Park is not travelling. Vidic is staying.

  18. thezonly1united says:

the reason Vidic isn’t travelling is because he’s leaving the club !
he’ll be wearing Barca colours next season.

  19. MUFC the Religion says:

Owen is in the squad because he is NOT injury prone.

I was hoping for Valencia but he will still get a few games.

Vidic is going nowhere but as soon as he misses games through injury, he’s moving. ABU.

    Go fuck yourself you tit

  21. theboy says:

was at the training ground tuesday & vida was there looking very happy, so reckon he’ll be here for a while yet. he wasn’t training mind, but not hobbling either.

  22. stretford972 says:

tosic in the squad. Hope he’s ready to contribute next season. Also wonder who the full time penalty taker will be now ronaldo gone. Don’t think will be rooney. Maybe hargreaves when fit or carrick has taken a couple of nice ones in the past. I know, it’ll be berbatov!

  23. thezonly1united says:

Hey macheda is god, i don’t like it any more than you do, unfortunately the bad news came from a United legend.

  24. willierednut says:

Ando can take the pens, its the only way he will score lol.

  25. Macheda is GOD says:

yes and united legends robson said we won’t replace ronaldo
    we’ll see

  26. Macheda is GOD says:

New signings Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan all boarded the plane bound for Kuala Lumpur, where United will tackle a Malaysia XI on Saturday
    This is from the sun
According to your article scot the sun is wrong.

  27. Tufty says:

The only place making specualtion about Vidic leaving is pathetic articles such as this.
Vidic is still carrying a knock from the Croatia game, add in the fact his wife has only just had a baby and he’s not travelled.
Wellbeck is in the England squad for the under 19 tournament along with Danny Drinkwater and as a result has not travelled.
Valencia is still on extended break aft6er playing for Ecaudor, so wont travel.
Obetran has not travveled as he has a slight knock.
Rafael has not travelled as he has a slight knock.
Park will meet up with the team in the Far East as is already over there on a break.
Hargreaves is still having treatment on his knee and travels every now and then back to Colarado to see the specialist.

  28. "For me Owen is better than Beckham." says:

I think Park is already in Asia (poor dogs). Maybe manutd.com just forgot Valencia. Sky said he has travelled.
Rafael: still with an ankle injury. Or, there aren’t two Da Silva’s. (Pictures are photoshopped.)
    Obertan is injured. Hargreaves too.
Welbeck is with the U19 team since Monday preparing for the European U19 Champinship in Ukraine. (and Amos, Drinkwater, James)
The Serbinator is in Carrington. Driver upgrading. New orders: search and destroy. Time: 20 sep 2009, location: Old Trafford, target: the argy lying cunt

  29. andsolskjaerhaswonit... says:

Yeah, Amos n Matty James are also with the England side along with the 2 Danny’

  30. javac says:

Vida is in demand, United however will not sell. Obvious. Ronaldo had to go for both player and club. Tevez, we didn’t want at his valuation. Vida? I would have Rio and Vida captain and vice-captain next season; likely to happen unless Fergie has his eyes on playing Giggsy every other game. The only truth is that the papers are desperate to sell papers. Vida will play for utd next season. (even against Torres and Etoo :)

  31. 11reds says:

Vidic’s absence mean nothing! However, what do you say about this latest action of Tevez: http://11reds.com/players-speak/tevez-maradona-ordered-me-to-leave-united-and-sign-for-manchester-united/470/

  32. MUFC the Religion says:

Vidic isn’t in demand because he wants to stay. His wife wants him to go but Vida wants to stay. Fair play to him.

  33. Adam says:

I wouldn’t be that bothered if Vidic went, I think his influence is slightly over-rated. Of course, he’s a fantastic player and I want him to stay – but he isn’t irreplaceable.

  34. Saad says:

@ Adam- Who do you have in mind to replace him?? I dont know anyone who can

  35. BlackBabyJesus says:

Vidic’s wife doesn’t want him to go… those quotes were completely made up.

  36. Gudjohnsen says:

Yup those stories about his wife wanting to leave were bullshit.

But were there stories about Fergie raising his salary true? Then he must have signed a new contract to do so…or am I mistaken? Doesn’t his current contract run out 2012? I would love it if we’d give him a longer contract, if anyone in the squad deserves a big pay check then that’s Vidic! He would take a bullet just to keep a clean sheet…

  37. Pam says:

He’s got a bloody buy out clause, hasn’t he, and bloody City are in for him and he WILL go. I am not renewing my season ticket.

  38. KingBG says:

These stories about the wife who defines Vida’s career based on the weather reports are such a bulshit, indeed! If I was in Vida’s or his wife’s shoes I’d feel offended for considering me such a fool!

  39. Pam says:

“take a bullet just to keep a clean sheet…”

    Except against Liverpool

  40. fuzzy says:

‘we do not expect any transfer for the “time being”…..’ but we can expect one in the future ? :D

  41. Red.Shanks says:

im gonna watch rooney play in kuala lumpur…wahhh dream come true…

  42. stretford972 says:

valencia didn’t travel coz he had to re-apply for his work permit after his move. Therefore he has to spend a certain amount of time (couple of months) before he can leave the e.u. He ain’t got a knock

  43. Gudjohnsen says:

Just heard we made a new signing, a 21 year old from Molde in Norway. His name is Mame Biram Diouf, plays as a striker and comes from Senegal.

17/07/2009 08:30, Report by Nick Coppack in Kuala LumpurDuo to join Reds in MunichSir Alex has told United fans they’ll get their first glimpse of recent arrival Antonio Valencia when the Ecuadorian flies out to Munich to join up with his new team-mates for the Audi Cup.

The former Wigan winger didn’t fly to Malaysia with the rest of the United squad because he’s slightly behind in his pre-season preparations.

“Valencia didn’t get his work permit. He had to go back to Ecuador to get a visa to come back into the country,” Sir Alex explained.

“It’s one of these convoluted systems. It’s frustrating but we have to accept it. He didn’t get back to England until Monday and his fitness levels aren’t ready yet. He’ll join us in Munich.”

Nemanja Vidic will also join the squad in Germany. The Serbian was injured playing for his country and isn’t yet fit enough to take part in football training.

“He’s been doing some good physical running over the last few days but not enough to take part in games.”

As for Gabriel Obertan, the Reds’ recent recruit from Bordeaux, Sir Alex revealed the Frenchman won’t pull on a United shirt until at least October.

“Obertan has an injury that will keep him out for three months or maybe more. We were aware of that at the medical but we’re quite happy with the situation.”

vida and valencia will meet up with the squad in munich for the audi cup so we’ll get are first glimpse of valencia (hatrick maybe)

  46. Suprah says:

United have agreed to sell MANUCHO to Real Valladoid. He’ll be getting a 5 year contract subject to a medical and agreement of personal terms. I wonder how much we got for him.

  47. ozzmufc says:

Vidic is linking up with the rest of the squad in munich for the audi cup, he currently has an slight ankle injury
