Richard Eckersley has been linked with a loan move to QPR today which will see him get a years worth of experience in the Championship.
The right-back featured in four games for Manchester United last season, including two Premiership games against West Brom and Hull.
The 20-year-old Salford lad is seen as having potential to replace Gary Neville/Wes Brown and will be hoping to have a more success loan move than fellow full-back Danny Simpson.

Man Utd News 24/7

Good choice.he needs games as Gary nev is nearly done .Brown is 29.Rafael is our 2nd choice.so we need someone who can challenge Rafael in 2 years.i was impressed by Da Laet against Hull.looks a talent.
So far he’s looked like another danny simpson, but with even less skill.. this is a make or break move for the kid
AIG: yeah. De Laet was sublime in that match. if i remember correctly he played left back in that game?
Anon.Yes he played at left back in that game.and he is jst 21 so he can compete wid fabio for left backspot.
ive just read on bbc football that SAF may be going after ibrahimonic? WTF?? we dony need anymore strikers, we already have 6 or 7. as for eckersley, i like him, not just because his salfordian, but i think in a couple of years time, and have him beef up a bit hell be a top defender for us. how long is raphs contract?
reddevil1878,its just a rumour.inter want more than 50 million for him.who the hell will pay that much for a player who flops at the top level.it came in the daily mirror

its rubbish
QPR are my local team and I go to a few of games so I’ll be able to keep my eye on him, they need a left/right back so Eckersley’ll be perfect for them.
personally…tome…simpson is a better option for future than eckersley…i dont see the point in…putting simpson for sale…and sending eckersley on loan..i think it should be the opposite…simpson on sale..and eckersley for sale..
ritchie de laet..is hot prospect in defence….i heard he can play in the center too….i think as we already have..talented youth in RB and LB….i think its better that he gets to play as CB..
* simpson on loan….mistake in the sentence in the above comment
da laet, rafael.fabio and evans are the future.not too sure abt simpson and eckersely.da laet is very versatile.can play anywhere.we are also signing some youngster fron Empoli.so maybe SAF is looking towards the future after him
I don’t agree with the comments about Simpson being better than Eckersely.
No harm to Simpson but after watching most of the reserve games In the last few years, I think Eckersely is a much better prospect.
It is a good idea to send him to a decent championship team that actually need him, rather than a struggling premier league club.
Maybe that’s what went wrong for Danny at Blackburn.
Guys i am a bit lost. What’s the status of Simpson? Is he back at the club?
Oops, forgot my manners. Goodmorning everyone.
By the way, i really hope the Ibrahimovic rumors are rubbish.
Simpson is back..
Re: Ibrahimoic – its just paper talk, just cos its in the paper doesnt mean we are really after him, so chill people!
Was surpised he didn’t end up at Ipswich with Keano. Although when Keane was at the club, he would have been a little orange baby.
I secretly think Adam Eckersley is Scholes’ son.
Thnaks Tony Starks. I would like us to have another go at him. I hope he has become more mature.
I guess we’ll see him in pre-season – he didn’t get a chance at Blackburn so I’m not sure if he’s made any progress
That’s what i am afraid of. He looked talented when he was here. He was just lacking composure and awareness of his position at all times. That position is still a wild card. Neville, Brown and even Rafael at times had injury problems last year. So adding Simmo to the mix might not be a bad idea.
Seperated at birth Eckersely, Paul Scholes.
@ costas.Simmo does not look all dat classy.i wud rather have da laet in my side than simmo.i feel simmo may not make the cut in 2 or 3 years at OT.da laet looked brilliant
@AIG: It’s tough to say at the moment. De Laet was very good at Hull, but in fairness, all of our youngsters were. The problem is what Tony Stark said: that Simpson didn’t get match practice last year. Evans’ Sunderland tenure is what helped him come back more prepared. I do have a soft spot for him because he was one of the youngsters we saw in that Amsterdam tournament 3 years ago. Gibson and Evans look to be making it, so i would like to see him to follow their footsteps. We will see. The pre season tour will determine a lot.
Costas.ya mate u have a fair point.under big sam simmo hardly played at blackburn.evans has aldready secured his place as one for the future.as has rafael and Fabio. This is da big chance for da laet, simpson, although i feel SAF may loan someone like simmo again. They shud go to championship clubs to get more games.
Actually I think that Eckersley is more solid defensively than Rafael. Would be great if he does well and comes back better. In any case, not counting Neville, one RB will have to leave.
Usually, these loan deals are “shop window” so that the potential purchaser can get to test the merchandise. The only loan deal that’s worked out well for our team has been Jonny Evans to Sunderland; most of the rest have been either disastrous (Rossi at Newcastle ? or Simpson at Blackburn ? or Campbell at Spurs ?) or pretty much irrelevant because the loaned-player had already been judged to be not-up-for-it with UTD. In that latter category you could consider Jonathan Greening, Robbie Savage, Kieran Richardson, Sylvan Ewbanks-Blake, Danny Higginbotham, Ryan Shawcross, and a load of others – what’s interesting is that most of them are pretty decent, mid-level premiership players which tells you that when the rule is run over them at Carrington, that rule is calibrated in millimetres.
Ibrahimovitch is a terrific talent but his age AND his wages AND his temperament are all against him. He’s used to a very, very, very good life-style which M/C simply cannot offer – and that’s a fact. For him to choose to leave Milan and come to M/C would underline a terrific desire to be a winner – and that’s not who he is.
I always want the local lads to succeed at United, and if that fails then at the best of their abilities. QPR maybe the perfect fit for Eckersley at this moment in his career. I hope Danny Simpson is loaned out to a club that will actually play him. Maybe Wolves would be ideal, as they have some fairly average efenders. Or, Ipswich, the new United reserves after Sunderland
I absolutely love Simmo and Richard.
Good luck Richard and i hope he’ll have a chance with us.
