I can’t say I’m surprised by the FA, but I can’t help thinking that they would be the first to insist on a minutes silence for the ‘tradegy’ that was hillsbourgh (something easily preventable). Not that I’m cynical or anything

I was dead chuffed when the term “republic of mancunia” earned common usage among sussed reds. Not only does it encapuslate the very real differences that divide us and the rest of England: the fact that Manchester is a city characterized by immigration, particular catholics from Ireland and Scotland, which in past times was a point of some contention to an English state whose chosen creed was/is protestantism, and has on many occasions been a incendiary thorn in the side of political rule from london. The United>England banner was superb but apparently was taken down by the club because one person complained. Which is a shame because we should be seen to take pride in our heritege. And that means articulating the differences between ourselves and Talk-sport listening, Sun reading, tradegy mocking, quarter final bothering, ingerland fans.

IndianPunk, English and British are not the same but hey.. I don’t care about the English team only the United players in the squad, I hope they do well away and more than anything dread them getting injuries.

Yet more proof, if ever was needed, that United stand alone in English football. Until other fans learn to respect the enormous traditions of this Blessed club, United fans shall always feel estranged from England. I, personally, like millions of others around the world, feel proud to have been a United fan all my life, and the club features as a priority in my life. England, however? Who the hell are they ………..
