David Moyes has been linked with replacing Sir Alex Ferguson when he retires and has even been endorsed by our manager himself.
The Everton boss has today revealed that he went for our assistant manager’s job after Brian Kidd left, but was turned down in preference of Steve McClaren. United went on to win the Treble that year and Moyes was long forgotten.
Three years later Moyes made the move up to Premiership management with Everton and hasn’t looked back. But could he be tempted to go for the job at United when Ferguson goes? And more importantly, would we want him?
“I spoke to Sir Alex about the No. 2 job but wasn’t offered it and I’ve gone on to do what I had to do,” said Moyes. “I would have liked the chance to see the man working and be around him. Will it be a poisoned chalice at United? I don’t know, but that’s why you should be talking about the greatness of Fergie. You should be embracing the manager. Hopefully, he’ll be there for 26 or 27 years. I don’t want him to go, I just want him to share the trophies around a bit more! I can see myself staying at Everton for 10, 12, 15 years if they want me. Sometimes supporters get fed up with you and want a change, but people realise you’re better off with stability. They will tell you there was a day when Fergie was nearly gone and they tell you here there was a time when David Moyes was struggling. I bet Fergie didn’t feel that way and honestly I never did. If you’re doing the job right, you know you’ll get there.”

Lol,funny stuff!
surely he will be among one of the candidates.i would prefer Solskjaer to take over & may be Gary as his assistant.
My job is not done at Everton yet.
Would him and Rooney be able to get on though? One did sue the other so im pretty sure it’d be a tough one.
RedBoyo- Yeah good point. Other than that I would take him at United with Ole as his number 2. I really do think it could work. I actually have a lot of time for Moyes. Above all else he is a Scot and we know what kind of managers they can make.
yeah, and the progress everton have made in the last few seasons just adds to the weight behind him. KingEric – i’d love to see Ole there in the dug-out with him.
On a different note, here’s a cracking statement from Gerrard. Gerrard told the Mail on Sunday in reference to how Tony Hibbert is a true Evertonian: “Tony is to Everton what me and Jamie Carragher are to Liverpool. What a cunt.
Kings here’s “Mr Liverpool” for you:

Jake, thanx for correcting me.Didn’t know that.So Owen,Fowler,Gerrard and Carra were all Everton supporters.Does that team have any players that were fans of it growing up?
I guess, but non of them are english
people forget will rooney want to work for moyes because they both hate each other.
costas – top pic mate.
Holy! A Stunning lineup by Sir Alex!
Gerrard wasn’t a fan…his uncle, a big everton fan made him wear it that day. Apparently his dad freaked out after seeing it….
Dark day when Slur Alex leaves you lot. Even I rate that horrible cunt.
