Everton Captain: I’m Gutted To See Ronaldo Leave United

Former Manchester United player, Phil Neville, has claimed that he was ‘gutted’ when Cristiano Ronaldo agreed a deal with Real Madrid. The former Manchester United winger, who today insisted he owed everything to United, ‘entertained’ fans in this country, although Phil reckons we still have the best league even though he’s done.

“From an English football point of view I was gutted to see Cristiano Ronaldo leave,” said Neville. “I think he brought a lot to the Premier League, everyone enjoyed playing against him, he is the best player in the world and he entertains people. We want the best players to be playing in the Premier League because we feel we play the best football and we have the best product over here. Real Madrid are spending money but I still believe the Premier League is the best, the most exciting, the most honest, the most entertaining and we can be proud of that.”

    You won’t hear this from many players in England. Most of them are happy to see the back of Ronaldo. But the bigger picture is that the Premier League is poorer without Ronaldo.

  2. Doherty says:

    Well said Phil.
    Nice one, just got the new united jersey a week early.

  5. ROJO RED ROT ROUGE says:

    Neville Neville brought the Nevilles up well and the Neville family name will always be a name we remember. So I raise a glass to you Neville Neville for the Neville Boys.
    It is true we and everyone else will notice the fact Cristiano is no longer there. “On and on it seems to go, but you dont know what you ve got til its gone…….” Never a truer word has been sung.

  6. Gudjohnsen says:

    What a great name, Neville Neville, lol!

    But anyways, I kinda miss P.Neville. He was a good squad player and a true United player.

  7. spanish plumber says:

    True reds thr Neville brothers and Gary Neville is the best cos he hates scoucers, ” you could make a song out of that” lol. Ronaldo is saying all the right things. keeping the OT door wide open, could be a bargain if it all goes to shit in spain, and he hates the snow believe me far more snow in Madrid than manchester during the winter.

    nice one Phil.

  8. Dereck says:

    Ronaldo is great, but I really don’t think that he’s the best. No no no.

  9. Xyth says:

    Once a red, always a red, unless you are called Tevez.

  11. devilz88 says:

    Ya i gotta to agree with phil.Some was please to see him left,but the truth is(doesn’t care whether ur a united fan or football fan or anti ronaldo fan) he will definately be missed by everyone in terms of entertaining.the crucial goals,the screamer goals,the wonderfull and sublime goals..The premier league has truly lost 1 of its entertainers and for this i do wish him the best at Madrid.
    VIVA RONALDO

  12. redseven says:

  14. SULLY says:

    “But the bigger picture is that the Premier League is poorer without Ronaldo” Now thats bang on Costas. Could’nt have put it better myself mate. Premier League as a whole will be deprived of them Cruyff-turns, stepovers, and tricks of Ronnie. I’m almost in tears. Them Madrid cunts will do fuck-all for you Ronnie lad. Respect Ronnie.

  15. TonyBee says:

    Probably the reason he will be sad to see him go cos he likes kicking fuck out of Ronnie and getting his name in the papers ……

  16. Trevor says:

    Phil Neville has never hid the fact he supports United, Just goes to show the charactor of the man when you see him play against us for everton.

    I can remember one of the last games he played in he floored ronaldo! He was a little late, I dont see Phil Nevile as a dirty player at all but he certainly is commited! Although the verbal bashing he got from the united players soon ensued but! He just got on with it!

  17. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    well duh so was every other united fan
    philip neville born and bred
    he hates city

  18. 9jmac says:

    Phils a good example of the appreciation you should show to past clubs.

  19. wdkf says:

    its the start of the decline of the premiership at least as the top league in the world.

  20. King Eric says:

    Trevor – Yeah I remember that tackle, I didn’t think it was a foul either. He was already on the floor from a previous tackle and Phil just came steaming in as he was getting up again. Has developed into a decent midfielder Nev.

  21. ancha says:

    respect Nev!

  22. ancha says:

    @king eric

    i guess he is better than a decent midfielder…

    leading a team that is going to move pool out of top four….that would be perfect for me and wonder how would phil celebrate to that…

  23. Fze123 says:

    @wdkf

    just because we lost one player, the premier league won’t sink/lost it’s best-in-the-world title. even if that happened, who cares. even phil says so himself. ^^
    we’ll see at the end of next season who’s won trophies and how many english teams are through to the last stages of the CL.

  25. Trevor says:

    @King Eric

    Yeah although i did think Phil Nev was always a real good midfielder. His problem is simular to what Kleberson, Dejemba and Butt Faced. What chances do you have of playing regular football when your competing with Roy Keane and Paul Scholes. By far in their day one of the best central midfield pairings i have ever seen.

    No one in their right mind would have droped either. Any player needs a good 10 game straight run in the team to show what they can do!

    Its like last season when Gary Nev came back early, In my eyes Fergie wanted to give him as many games as possible so he would qualify for a medal. What happened a back lash from the fans and most saying he was passed it. Done for! Anyone who has to rocks for a brain knows that if your out injured for a good number of months it takes a while to get match fit again, and in addition to this you are more prone to picking up little niggleing injuries as your mussles arnt the same!

    I am looking forward to Gary Nev next year, He is Mr United through and through. He runs things behin the scenes, and is what i want as a true club captain!….. Granted i know he hasnt got too many years left but, i just want to see him whipping in them crosses as Mr Dependable again!

  26. Trevor says:

    @wdkf

    Decline in the Premiership………. The biggest problem the Premiership face is the country it is in!. Before some of you lot jump on my back wait a minute!!……. What i am meaning is Weather…..

    I dont know about you, but if i was a world class footballer if the team i supported as a Kid was ie as it is Manchester United id want to play for them without question. There would be no other team, But if i supported Sconthorpe United or Acrington Stanley i dont think i would go very far playing for them every week well certinly not into an england squad!

    What are my options…. erm id look at the top 4 or 6 clubs in the world.. Manchester United, Chelsea, Millan, Barcelona, Real. Possibly Juventus (not great the past few years due to their troubles)

    If i had options to go to either of these id then concider the lifestyle, the weather, stadium … blah blah blah..

    So In my eyes the Premiership will not be in demise. We have dominated the Champions League for the past 5 seasons. Long may it continue

  27. Trevor says:

    Lads,

    I feel a lot better now…. I have to have my red rant at least once a day!!!

    Too Much Red White Black in my blood!!!

  28. AIG Alex is GOD says:

    @wdkf

    have u forgotten dat the pre still has guys like rooney and rio.jst bcoz best players in world play in la liga does not mean it is the best.anways United stilla are the best supported and followed club in the world.Atleast here in India there are many manutd fanatics like me

  29. vishnu1729 says:

    of course united the most watched team in asia..we can market that easily as real do in europe….but we are not trying…but if manu tries they can surely bid 130 m for messi!!!!!!.so despite all the madrid comedies preleague continues be the best……..spanish liga has only 2 or 3 world class teams…seria a just 3…but look at BPL..it has almost 4 0r 5 world class teams.we must not forget abt city because they are spending huge like madrid..

  30. Trevor says:

    @vishnu1729

    United has Miled the Asian Market for Years!

    how much more do you expect to get out of it?

    Yes we can afford 130 mil for messi, but he wouldnt come!

  31. Trevor says:

    Opps.. Ment Milked!
