Evra: After I Laughed At England, Team-Makes Are Joking About France

Patrice Evra has confessed that he is on the receiving end of some piss taking after he rinsed his English United team-mates for failing to qualify for Euro 2008.

With Darren Fletcher’s Scotland missing out on the World Cup, Evra has revealed how Fletch tells him they will be spending the summer together, after France fail to beat Ireland in the qualifier.

“These last few days at United have been difficult,” said Evra. “John O’Shea has promised me it will be hell at Croke Park. I have had the mickey taken out of me a lot. It’s normal, as when England failed to make Euro 2008 I asked my English team-mates if they wanted a remote control to switch between games on TV. Now it’s started once more. Darren Fletcher, who plays for Scotland, tells me we’ll spend the summer together. The joking has to stop now. We have to qualify. It has become an obsession. I have never given such priority to the national team as I have done over the last few months.”

  3. grein says:

Evra is the man, love his attitude.

  4. Red Army says:

    Legend.

Fletch is a proper joker as well. I met him once in Trafford centre and he loves a joke. Fletch ain’t got a problem with stopping to talk to fans.

Back on Pat, want Ireland to go through just because I struggle to find anything good about French people, Patty and Ober being the exceptions;) for fuck sake they eat snails.

It’s obvious that United players have a lot of banter. Team spirit is sky high.

  5. rednz says:

Being an Irishman it’s a no brainer who I want to qualify. But because FIFA decided to seed the play-offs, I’d like to see all the unseeded teams go through! But the BIG qualifier is here in Wellington where the mighty New Zealand All-Whites take on the even mightier Bahrain to qualify. Oh, the glamour of the big games! Love you Pat but I’d like you to be keeping Fletch company next year!

  6. Manchester United Indonesia says:

Fletch make a joke after a game have finished. Same as Ferdinand.

  7. TheEvilDog says:

Evra is a fucking hero, can’t stop loving that fella!

would love to go for a pint with some united players, bet they a right laugh, anderson suppose to be funny as fuck to, remember he put a mouse in g nevs pocket. i want france to go through only coz of evra’s love, plus be good for him and obertan to go to wc wiv 4 medals already :)

  9. NotoriousRedDevil says:

As promising as Obertan has been I doubt he’ll make the French squad. You have Ribery and Nasri who are ahead of him in the pecking order. Still want France to go through so on the World stage Evra can show up cashley tweedy.

  10. rooninho says:

i used to hate the french team as they seemed like a bunch of arsenal cunts running around the pitch. and what kind of country could leave king cantona out of its national team for all those years?

but my love of evra alone (i guess obertan and paul pogbra too, now) has changed my tune.

would rather have both ireland and france both go instead of italy getting in, but that won’t happen, will it? sorry, kiko!

  11. vidic will get ya15 says:

with some good performances he could make the squad. fuckin hate cashley, complete cunt, tonio whiped him up the right, hope we get ecuador in our group might get a top, evra > cashley, valencia > cashley, samsung d500 > cashley

  12. vidic will get ya15 says:

red army 2 words mate the 1st is eric

  13. Mark the Devil says:

Nah, i hate the frogs – with a few exceptions – hope Ireland stuff them, thats for my dads sake. United > internationals.

  14. deacvision7 says:

Seriously? How am I, an American, the first to comment on the last line?

“I have never given such priority to the national team as I have done over the last few months.”

So since he is being wound up by United players he will now give more to the French NT?
This can obviously only mean one thing…

    United > France

  15. red rossa says:

john o shea will run evra ragged on saturday :)
ireland 7-1 france, put money on it lads, gibson and o shea with a hat-trick each ;)

  16. aig alex is god says:

Wont be easy for the French. The irish are a decent side and wont be walkovers.plus the french do not look as formidable as they once were with Henry ageing and Benzema misfiring. There is a massive chance of an upset win for the Irish

  17. Corea says:

Of course i will support Ireland.

  18. Corea says:

Speaking to a Portuguese newspaper, Nani said: “People expect more from me and it is not easy. I could be doing better, scoring more. But just think, I had a huge game today, but the next one, I’m not even sure that I will play. Such a situation breaks the confidence.”

he is searching for excuses. bad for the boy.

  19. Macedonia_United says:

I think he is playing with his future at OT if the pappers are not twisting his words, but saying things about the greates manager of all time like this:

He’s tough. If things are all right, then they are all right. But when he thinks something is wrong, everything is screwed.

“He can go from complimenting you to just plain trashing you in a matter of minutes. Has it happened to me? Hell, yes! He’ll say ‘Nani, how could you miss this or this’?”

He added: “He shouts at players in front of everyone. No one escapes, everybody is the same. Giggs and Neville suffer most, because they have more experience. It is ‘F**k’ here and ‘F**k’ there.”

I think our boy is fucked up…

  20. kungFuKick says:

    Bye Bye nani!
6 weeks left for his football to do the talking!
I believe that Sir Alex did not handle the lad very well in his second season, but for nani to talk about mis-management… he is going too far.

  21. cantona7 says:

lol i still am not sure, the authenticity of Nani’s comment. I am suspecting another media stunt. But if even Gary and Giggs are getting “F*ck” here and there, than it only means one thing – SAF is a genius. Feel pity for Nani though..

Back to Evra, hahaha you deserve that. What goes around comes around. I hope Ireland goes through

  22. Muggaz says:

looks like Nani has seen that he will be usurped by Obertan in the not too distant future, and his questioning of the manager is a come and get me plea of sorts…

I’m dissapointed in the lad, because he obviously have bags of potential, and he is most definitely at the right place to fulfil that potential, but like so many other would be champions, looks like he might want to take the easy way out…

then again, we can’t really trust the rags, so we’ll see what happens.

  23. TheEvilDog says:

Btw im new here guys, just wanna say hi, followed this blog for a while now but havnt botherd posting! :)

  24. Sayyid says:

Give Nani plus £17m to Valencia for Silva

If we could get Villa as well then that would be great business.

    Squad for next season???

    In: Villa, Silva, CSKA GK
    Out: Nani, VDS, Scholes, Gibson

  25. HARGREAVES' CURLY HAIR says:

    @TheEvilDog
welcome mate to the best football blog in England!
guys i think that france will have too much for ireland although their downfall would be that they play as individuals and not for each other as a team. Evra is a legend! not sure who will spend time with fletcherinho next summer personally i’d say evra although it won’t be easy. france have lots of quality and it will be interesting to see. i think that if ireland win at croke park and don’t concede they have a big chance. guys sorry i don’t know how you feel about this but i personally don’t like international breaks it causes needless injuries. i think it’s meaningless when wazza has to play a meaningless international game this weekend against brazil. remember the last time he went on international duty he got injured and this took the sting out of his form.
i can’t wait until hargo returns. Hargo i love your curly hair!:-)

  26. aig alex is god says:

    @TheEvilDog

    Welcome to ROM.

This Nani thing really is starting to make Nani look silly.Nani has been given enough chances and has failed miserably with his poor crossing and rubbish shooting. If he feels he isnt getting enough chances it is because he is not good enough. It would have been better if he would have shut his big mouth rather than talking trash in the summer that he can replace ronny.he isnt 1% of what ronny is or was at his age.Obertan has a much better chance of trying to be a regular.hope nani is shown the door in january. He should train harder and practice like ronny did rather than talking shit in these interviews blaming SAF for ruining his career.

  27. diavolorosso says:

Nani ? Great control, good dribbling, good shot … can’t pass, can’t cross … such a pity : He’s a winger and until further notice priority for wingers is putting the ball in the middle, right time right place.

Giggsy’s been showing him how to do it. Cristiano, Patrice, Gary Neville and even John O’Shay too. Now after only a few minutes on the pitch even Obertan’s already showing him the way.

    Will he ever learn ?

  28. islandred says:

United should ban players from talking about the club or team selection when on international duty.

They should be questioned only on their international team – if they break the rules, two week fine.

Sick and tired of hearing players lie about being mis-quoted.

  29. Hurdy Gurdy Man says:

I think nani may just be the most stupid man on this planet!!!

  30. Williamkulha says:

If you don’t look up to cross the ball you should be getting screamed at by the manager. Hope Ireland go through but with paddy bounding down the left it’ll be a tough one.

  31. bobkoh says:

Love that Evra! And I hear Patrick Vieira whom Evra is having problems with in the French squad is not selected by Domench & is throwing a tantrum!
    Great United players>>>>>>>>>ex-Arsenal players!

  32. terry08anelka says:

Evra stopped drinking sprite because the cans are green

  33. wazza (Bezi) says:

Evra will drink Pepsi instead, lol

  34. red rossa says:

    @sayyid

what? gibson out? why would fergie get rid of one of his most promising cm’s? muppet

  35. King Eric says:

red rossa – Yeah I though that mate. Scholes as well? Not in my opinion, he still has a role to play in certain games. Wasn’t it him who got our winner out in Turkey.

  36. Fze123 says:

lol, he said he’d stop drinking sprite as the cans are green and remind him of ireland’s kit.

  37. Ulster Red says:

cmon patrice and france!!!!!!!!!! france to win both legs comfortably

  38. bchilds says:

I was one that was laughing at Englands failure to reach Euro 2008 and I shall laugh if France don’t make it either, sorry Pat, I love you and everything, but not a fan of the French!

  39. irwinisalegend says:

Eire abú! Come on Ireland, make Croker roar tonight and send the French packing!! John O’Shea is a legend! He was in a nightclub in Waterford once when a local hurler Eoin Kelly, was taunting him all night for not being a local hero like him. Kelly said to O’Shea, ‘Only one of us can play in an All-Ireland match’. O’Shea’s response was, ‘Only one of us can do this’ and burnt a 50 euro note in front of him!!!! Ulster Red, you should get behind your country tonight and stop being an angry bitter northy!!

  40. Ulster Red says:

    irwinisalegend
1-0 mate, no world cup for either of us..unlucky…we had a french flag in the stand aswell singing the french anthem…

  41. irwinisalegend says:

So did we, we can have the craic with the opposition, all friendly down here mate.

  42. whitefieldred says:

Love ya Pat, but I’m afraid my allegiances lie with Ireland all the way. Come on Sheasy, last minute winner again like at Anfield.

  43. Ulster Red says:

well ur players wernt to friendly!!!!!!

  44. Ulster Red says:

p.s all your fans in france running about in celtic gear!! classy!!

  45. irwinisalegend says:

Better than beatin up Polish fans!!! Hanging up death threats about your own players!! Now thats classy!! And of course the players werent friendly, its a competitive match, that was a ridiculous thing to say!! By the way when are northern ireland gonna stop using anothers teams anthem before games, its getting beyond a joke!!
