Evra: Be clear, Ronaldo did not make United

Patrice Evra, who always flies the Manchester United flag, wants to make it clear that they’re all superstars at our club, and that Ronaldo’s absence isn’t the be all and end all.

“It is important to be clear that Ronaldo did not make Manchester United,” said Evra. “Ronaldo was never the star at Manchester United. We are all stars and the boss would never let any one person believe he is the star. He was a good player for us and a very important one. But Manchester United was Manchester United before him and it is still Manchester United after him. He didn’t make our team, we are all winners. We lost two of them this summer in Carlos Tevez and Ronaldo, but we have added others like Michael Owen.”

Great comment, he loves the team and he knows the history of the greates club in the world .We are not one man show .We are UNITED!!!

  3. haruglory_911 says:

It’s so damn true, pat… United is not like other big team in Europe who become immobile after losing one or two star players…
United always stay United… I’m hoping that our young player will prove something this season…

  4. 9jmac says:

We should be far more grateful to have players like Evra at our club.

  5. manutd4eve says:

well said pat another french manutd legend following the footsteps of BLANC AND KING CANTONA. treu red devil. we want fans like cuteeee emily and players like pat.

  6. 20legend99 says:

Patrice is a United legend. Best left back in the world without a doubt. It’s players like this that make me love this club, a player of pure class that bleeds for the badge.

  7. BlackBabyJesus says:

Evra speaks the truth because he knows and loves United’s history. :)

  8. 20legend says:

Bit off-topic, but here goes: Just read in the telegraph that barcelona were in for nani this summer? Did I pass out and miss the point when Nani actually added end product to undoubted talent? Anyone else heard anything else about this? I had high hopes for Nani last season but now I have my doubts. He is the only one at United who seemed to have regressed last season. Hopefully he proves me wrong and starts to provide some decent competition on the left wing. Let’s face it, a fit and in-form Nani would have practically no competition on the left wing. The stage is set for him to shine.

  9. Sunny says:

compare Pat to Cashley… Passion vs. Mercenary. That is why we are the ones lifting the trophies… 4 in a row!

  10. hurr says:

If Nani can play consistently like when we thrashed Arsenal 4-0 then we’ll have no problem.

  11. Bossu Collindon says:

Rolando or no Rolando we are still Stan United For ever and forward ever……Good bye CR 7

  12. Gudjohnsen says:

…”we’ve added other like Michael Owen.” …….and Antonio Valencia! Don’t forget him Pat! He will be magnificent, I’m sure of it!

  13. Sam Froze says:

yeah… of coz Man Utd is not the product of any individual. it comes as a team… anyone who think they r bigger will get the boot….

  14. jcolas says:

Gotta love Evra’s comments, someone should write an Evra quote book.
p.s. New loserpool signing Aquilani out for two months (definitely their year).

  15. aig alex is god says:

really looking forward to the new season.everyday i read the tabloids united are being written off saying we wnt even finish in the top 2.as if everyone thinks fergie was going to spend all the rhe money on overpriced and over rated players like to try and replace ronaldo .actually we can play with less pressure dis season bcoz people expect us to be in a transition phase after ronnys departure.evra is spot on.ronaldo was the focal point of the team he did nt make the team.we had a great defence and unselfish players like rooney that helped us suceed.

  16. Sunny says:

In reality what we are talking about is a complete United dominance in the Premier League for the last 3 years. What is being done by our adversaries to overcome this – not enough in my view. A fourth title on the trot would be historic!

  17. sppibsihmkcrkg says:

fucking love evra and he loves us. Compare his attitude and that argie traitor and you can see united will never die.

  23. sppibsihmkcrkg says:

aig alex, think you can add ferdi to that list. He’s got a lot of roots set in manchester now and think he knows he won’t have it any better anywhere else. Only possibility is year or so at west ham for old times sake. Don’t know why but always had feeling rooney might move on at some point. Maybe it’s just my pessimism but don’t think he’ll be happy without tryin new league, thankfully don’t think he’ll have another club in england though. Utd 2-0 today

richie dunne wants to leave city for villa because of the arrival of tevez
dunne said this team aint big enough for the both of us,
its not an ego thing its just the bench isnt long enough to fit all the subs and them 2 fat bastards

  25. jessetto says:

@ghtt lol….anderson first goal today 50 yard run beats 6 players then dinks it over the keeper then gets booked for his celebration…

  26. Costas says:

Morning guys. Our success in the last 3 years can be attributed to a lot of good things happening all at once. Ronaldo coming into his own, Evra becoming the best full back in the world, Rio and Vida geling together, Rooney maturing, Carrick arriving and a few others. So it was never just about Ronaldo. Had that been the case, we wouldn’t have lost in Milan in 07 would we?

  27. Costas says:

GHTT not to mention that Tevez keeps eating all of his food from the buffet.

  28. aig alex is god says:

sppibsihmkcrkg.i did nt include rio bcoz he has now achieved the same godly status as giggsy scholesy and neville from my point of view.the maturity he has shown in last 4 years is phenomenal.he has gained a lot of respect in that period.

What an absolute legend. Honestly, it’s players like this that set United apart from the rest of the herd. They believe in their squad and they respect the badge and its history.

Off Topic: but ‘A Kick In The Grass’ is predicting us to finish 3rd and to go out in the group stages of the Ch.League plus tipping Chelsea to win the league and going to the semis in Europe, dippers to finish 2nd and QF in Europe.
    Ch. League: Barça
    FA Cup: Liverpoöl
    League Cup: Man City.
Is it really a UTD blog.?
i mean really Man f*ckin City to win a trophy.

On Topic, i have loved this guy ever since i came to know that the first thing Pat did after coming to Manchester was, he asked Gary where the Church was so that he can Thank God for making him part of the biggest club in the world.
    Gotta just love Evra.

off the topic gotta joke yesterday that made me laugh so i will share it with ya all.
A scouse maths teacher ask’s little becky what comes after 69??
she replyed “a wet wipe and some mouth wash miss”

  37. King Eric says:

andsolskjærhaswonit – That James Rydell on a kick in the grass is a prick. He is the most negative “fan” I have heard. Did you see what he put? That we are “much weaker” without the Judas and Ronnie and that fans are pissed off that we haven’t spent and we don’t have the faith that Sir Alex shares?

  38. trevor says:

    Lads,

Having Ronaldo in your team does not make it certain you are going to win trophies!

It took a while for Fergie to get the tactics right!

They way ronaldo plays and His lack of defensive cover leaves the Team Unbalanced at times. Hence Fergie playing the ronaldo formation & Tactics!

One thing that pleases me being a United fan is comparing our Squad to Our Rival Squads and there is no other that has our strength in depth.

Our Youth / Reserves knocking ont he door are something else as well. I recon if you took all our youth players under the age of say 23 Without Rooney! and put them in the prem i recon they would be in contention for eurpoe!

Fergie once before was critised after selling Kanchelskis – Hughes & Ince. We all jumped on the band wagon and insisted he needed to sign replacements. The only difference then is that we didnt see much of the youth he was bringing in. No need to say what Nev. Butt, Scholes & Becks did!

I know one thing! The future is certainly bright thats for sure!….

  39. Costas says:

    @King Eric

I have visited that guy’s site quite often. I have never said one bad thing about him here, because i don’t like badmouthing United fans. But the guy is a Tevez fan, plain and simple. I am all for United fans questioning SAF every once in a while, but he has taken it too far. Especially regarding Tevez. Above anything else, he should know that UNited have a habit of proving doubters wrong. Will we do it again? I don’t know. At least be cautious about it.

  40. Costas says:

Besides, i didn’t see the other top 4 sides get stronger did i? Arsenal have lost players, Liverpool the same and Chelsea’s squad is one year older. For me the chances are 33% percent a piece for United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

  41. wazza (Bezi) says:

@AIG :in India, match is at 7:30 on Sony Pix today.

i would and still am curious why Ron would be the last man standing in the queue when players come out onto the pitch. nobody is going to replace him i think, lol

  42. Costas says:

Hey wazza! Long time no see.

  43. Micky says:

    @wazza

Ronaldo didn’t always come out last did he?

I know Andy Cole did it out of superstition, but never knew Ronaldo did. In fact, I’m sure I’ve seen him come out in the middle of the line up numerous times.

  44. rooney_thebestest says:

Ronaldo’s gone….its scary….but then again so it was when Cantona,Beckham,Ruud et all left….life goes on….but only because of a certain glaswegian who still towers above anyone else at the Theatre of Dreams…because when he decides to call it a day , thats when we should be really really scared….Because he is the one who is irreplaceable…Sir Alex Ferguson….we live forever in your debt.

  45. Bazza says:

Guys, how many hours left till the big game?

    United made Ronaldo

Got my Evra shirt last week. Love the guy. What a player.

  55. King Eric says:

Micky – No I think he is right mate, Ronnie always came out last. Just like Rio always does a little jump and brings his knees to his chest when he runs out!

Costas – Year fair point about “Kick in the grass”.

  56. King Eric says:

gotta hate – Have tried numerous times recently to sign up but some reason won’t let me. Keeps bringing “invalid” username and shit. you are up to 200 now!

Off to see how Keano gets on, with his first game in charge.

  57. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

Exactly King Eric, i used to read that blog regularly but that fella Rydell has just ruined it, just so much negativity in every post of his. and moreover he picked City for 5th.

@ wazza: i think Nani will come out last,if choosen, he always try to emulate Ronaldo. :P

Tiny Tears said he is fed up of Manchester United winning everything. Priceless.

  58. Megleeker says:

Anyway, off topic slightly, the new music for the background on Sky Sports News is really starting to chap my ass.

Its just not supposed to be that “dramatic”. Ive often said that as much as Sky has contributed and enhanced football over the years they have also tampered and ruined it in many ways too eg. Sky Sports New presenter Jim White’s hysterical whitterings when the most insignificant footballer from the Championship decided to fart in a local Tesco. Jesus.

    Yep.

Wazza………….Ince was superstitious with putting his shirt on just when he came onto the pitch by the way.

  59. King Eric says:

Megleeker – Jim White? Ain’t he that Manchester journalist, the United fan?

  60. kidmeister says:

Since Hargo is looking likely to miss almost all of this season! Why don’t we bring Smudger back now he’s playing that midfield role for Newcastle! If we need someone who can knock an opposing midfield off their step, then Smudger is ideal!!He loved it here and he’d give 100% to the cause again, and I think we was all sad to see him leave in the first place!!

  61. King Eric says:

kidmeister – Who says Hargo will miss the season? Not the NOTW. That is the only outlet running the story and have no sources or quotes.

Smith back to United? No chance, love the lad though.

  62. Megleeker says:

    King Eric,

No mate, he’s Scottish, incredibly so. Nothing against the Scots ofcourse, but this guy must take 3 or 4 wraps of speed before he goes on air and he gets fucking worse as the transfer deadline nears.

    Yep.

  63. kidmeister says:

He wouldn’t cost too much,he’d be on a decent wage at Newcastle they can’t afford, they’d be desperate to shave his salary off their wage list.

  64. aig alex is god says:

wazza.thanks for that mate.first match of the season that i wil be catching live on tv.hope we do well. ghtt.i aldready subscribed 3 days back but i have told sme of my united friends abt ROM and ur videos.they too wil subscribe.they cant believe she knws so many chants being just 3 years old.

  66. Gudjohnsen says:

  67. aig alex is god says:

  71. wakey says:

Surprised that Valencia isn’t starting. Park obviously gives a great workrate but would have preferred to see Nani and Valencia than Nani and Park

  72. Costas says:

I think SAF is still trying to figure out who he will start against Brum. Nani or Valencia.

  73. Costas says:

    Don’t expect lots of goals.

  74. Xythx says:

Today we played against 12 men @ Wembley.

Despite that we should have won it. We are still the team to beat!

  75. GreenRed says:
