Evra: United will always be in my heart

After a weeks of speculation, Patrice Evra’s move to Juventus has finally been confirmed.

Evra has bid United a fond farewell.

After a great deal of thought I have decided the time is right for me to leave Manchester United. It is the biggest decision of my career as this club is, and will always remain, in my heart.

Joining and playing for Manchester United has been a privilege, a dream come true and my time here has been so memorable. Through the good times and the bad times we have all stuck together and remained loyal. I have always said you don’t just join Manchester United, you join the family and long may that tradition continue.

This club is steeped in history and I feel privileged to have become a part of that. Over the past nine years I have met and worked with some incredible people, many of whom will remain friends for life. I would like to thank everyone at the club – team-mates, coaches and in particular all the staff who made every single day in Carrington or at Old Trafford a special day.

An immense thank you to Sir Alex Ferguson for making it all possible, for giving me the privilege to be a captain, to be inspired by the legend of Manchester United and to understand that nobody is bigger than the club.

My biggest thanks go to the fans. We have had some fantastic times together, we lifted all of those trophies together and that night in Moscow will live with us all forever. Every single time I stepped out in that shirt I knew I was playing for the badge and for a very special club.

My passion for this club will live on and I know you guys will go on to enjoy more success in the coming seasons.

Evra is absolutely a legend at the club in my eyes. He truly got what this club is about, he cared enough to learn about our history and helped us forge a new part of it. We’ll be forever grateful. Best of luck at Juventus, Paddy.

  2. Imran says:

all the best to him, Italian league will suit both him and vida. Juve will probably get the best outta him, he’s got excellent attitude and loves to play, i hope we give the younger lbs a chance and hope They can fill the second choice spot. The spine is not looking Good at the moment. signings of hummels or vidal will change it. De gea – hummels – vidal – van persie now that will be awesome compared to de gea-evans-fletcher- rvp

  3. Mark Reid says:

Tough year goodbye to Rio Vidic and Paddy legends.
On wards and up wards .

Patrice a true legend loved the club and always battled hard, his form has been off last few seasons but he’ll be hugely missed in the dressing room, huge character

  6. Gary Mitrovic says:

Sad to see Patrice leave. He’s been a great servant to the club and just a shade behind Denis Irwin for being the best left back in United’s history. His enthusiasm and loyalty could never be questioned, and he had bags of ability to boot. I wish him the best in the future. A very likeable player and person in a day and age when there seems to be so few.

Sad to see pat go, a true United legend who got the club, out of the 3 to leave this summer at the back i think ill miss pat the most, hes not just a great footballer but hes the nices of men who talks repectfully about United in every way possible and I know when he retires he will e a regular at OT, may even become an ambassador, or MUTV pundit, I believe he will move back to Manchester when he retires because he loves everything about the club and Manchester, top top pro who rarely missed a game in 8 and a half years and all for just a £5million fee, makes you sick seeing Luiz move for £50million but Pat moves for £5million lol, he even signed a contract so United could get a fee for him. He will be missed theirs no doubt about that, but he will still be a success Juve will continue to win in Italy and pat will continue to pick up some more medals

  8. Tommy says:

    @Gary

United will never have a LB as good as dennis, the irishman had like 1 bad game in his entire United career even SAF said hes the only player certain of a place in his greatest 11, Love Dennis, Love Pat, im in a loving mood lol

  9. samuel - united WE stand says:

patrice combined talent and great personality. certainly a legend and wish him the best at his new club

  10. Chris says:

Gutted that Paddy has left, he totally ‘got’ what United are about and gave everything for the shirt.

I just hope that losing all that experience from the defence along with Vida and Rio doesn’t come back and bite us on the arse.
