Manchester United have been linked to several midfielders this summer, including Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier. The former would appear to be a favourite, given what an important player he was for Jose Mourinho when he last won the Premier League title with Chelsea in 2015.

However, Monaco’s Fabinho has emerged as a transfer target, with the player claiming that Mourinho is an “excellent manager”.

In an interview with ESPN, Fabinho has claimed that if Mourinho made contact, he would be very tempted to join Manchester United.

If Mourinho invites me [to join United], it would be very tempting, but, first of all, I would have to talk with my agent and with Monaco to make the things right. But Manchester United is a great team, and I would think about it, for sure.

I speak every day with my agent, and he always says to me that when an official proposal comes, he will inform me. Today I have nothing, I’ll be back to Monaco, start the preseason with Monaco. I have contract with Monaco until 2021.
