Fabio: Eriksen Is Very Good

Fabio da Silva has sung the praises of Christian Eriksen ahead of Manchester United’s game against Ajax.

Sir Alex Ferguson singled Eriksen out for praise after last week’s game against the Dutch club and even suggested we might be interested in buying him.

“Eriksen is a very good player,” he told United Review. “He can pass the ball very well and create chances, and he was always very composed. I think he’s Ajax’s best player. Ajax are a good team. They’re from Holland, so that means they’re always trying to pass the ball. Never long balls, always on the floor, they’re a good team. It’s like in the Brazilian league, where you always try to play well. Ajax almost played with three strikers, but against us I think they had to defend a little bit more.”

where exactly did he suggest anything about buying?

  3. ricky says:

hes nt all that, the guy plays in the dutch league which is peanuts compared to the other leagues. if fergie does get him dnt expect him 2 be zidane on his 1st match.

The Dutch league has produced some of the world’s best talents over the years and especially Ajax…..Its daft to suggest otherwise

  6. ricky says:

yes the dutch league has producd sum wonderful talents bt that dsnt make it good, you jst nd 2 look at how long theyve held on 2 the talents b4 they go. the psl in s africa has produced alot of gd players bt that dsnt take it up ther with the epl, la liga and k league.

Having been there last week (singing Bob Marley at a football match was one of the single greatest things that I’ve ever done) I found myself watching Eriksen a great deal when he wasn’t even on the ball. He never stops moving, always wants the ball and was Ajax’s single threat to us. When he was on the ball he always looked dangerous and in the mood to probe and penetrate (easy now) our back line. He only went off the boil at the end when he was, quite rightly, fucking knackered having been a one man show for them the whole game. Despite the Dutch league being pretty gash overall, this boy is class. It’s one of those issues that you’d love to see what he’d be like after six months of SAF coaching him and fine tuning his all round game.

In terms of have there been any decent players to come out of that league still playing now? Probably not…. Seedorf, Ibrahimovic, Robben (cunt, but good player), Sneijder, Van Der Vaart, Van Persie, Ruuuuuuud….. nah, they’re all proper pants.

I’m not saying sign the kid up but at the same time he’d compliment TC exceptionally.

  8. Sandeep1878 says:

    Ricky,

we cant expect anyone to be Zidane or Scholesy on their 1st game :)

fact is, we never know the quality, class and caliber of a player irrespective of the league they play in..

there was a player named Ronaldo who used to play in Portuguese league and no one ever heard of him until he signed for us and the rest is history :) .

  9. Sandeep1878 says:

    UNITED are too cocky

this is what that Basel player Shaqiri said,

    fuck u cunt shaqiri…

    Not arrogant, just better.

    ClaytonBlackmoresTan

Well fucking said….. And yes all those players you mentioned that did come out from the said league are indeed pants!

  11. CedarsDevil says:

The Dutch league may be poor these days, I would agree with that. But lets not forget that this small nation has a better track record at the world cup than the one who invented the game. Teams like PSV and Ajax are just like quality production factories.

  12. lordrt says:

Hope SAF decides to get him at the end of the season, he seems to be a very talented midfielder, could turn out to be better than sneijder if he’s allowed to express his full array of skills. Hope we turn the 2-0 advantage into something more, like the bitters did last night

  13. Marq says:

Yea, right, all players that come from leagues outside the top few should be crap.

Oh wait, who did we buy Stam from? Or Vidic? How about Solskjear? And where did Park come from? Hmm, how about Ruud? How about closer to home, where was Smalling 2yrs go?

My point is, we have almost never bought ready made superstars, we make them, so I don’t care which continent they come from, if Sir Alex rates them, that is good enough. Though he wont always get them right, but he gets alot more right than he gets wrong

  14. CedarsDevil says:

    Marq

What about Hernandez? He came from the Mexican league after all!

  15. Jay says:

Clayton was just about to mention those players all exception. It’s funny because in England with supposedly the best league in the world we hardly gave any English players that could equal the player that played in the Dutch league. All those player are world class pick of the bunch Ruud, loved that guy, my mum used to call him her husband lool.

  16. Jay says:

    Marq don’t for Hernandez.

  17. Saad says:

There ought to be a new term in football scouting: “United-worthy”

Definition: A player that has the basics right, has one or more noteworthy talents, is physically tough enough to take a beating, truly understands how lucky he is when he puts on that red jersey, cares more for the team than his own pocket and personal stats, hates Liverpool, loves Manchester, respects authority, not a racist, has excellent character, strong-willed.

Feel free to update that definition.

  18. KeyserSoze says:

    Ricky,

Would it have cost you to try and actually spell at least one word in your statements?

Damn, why is it non-native English speakers express (at least try) themselves in a correct manner and the natives just don’t give a fuck?

You know how apparently football (modern) has its roots stemming back from England, you ever wondered why foreign players come and take locals’ bread and butter?

    Mentality?

  19. WillieRedNut says:

    Ricky’s a wum.

  20. captaink9 says:

Ricky is a wum, I like the look of young Eriksen. Cheap to I reckon.

  21. NBI Red Onion says:

WTF – stop attacking Ricky like 3 years olds!!! – here we go again with the same shit – he is not saying that Dutch leagues produce no good players, just that it is not one of the top leagues. That’s a fact, what’s the issue, grow the hell up and no one is one here for an English class in spelling.

  22. Marq says:

    @NBI
Nobody is giving Ricky a hard time. He started by saying Eriksen is not good, based on his logic that the Dutch League is poor.

Our point is, you do not rate a player based on the league he plays in

So who’s logic is flawed here?

  23. Udhala says:

That’s Ricky’s opinion and he’s entitled to it.Personal insults should be put aside in this case scenario.

  24. Udhala says:

Anyways, looking forward to the game tonight.Hope we give Pogba a good run-in and after that,he better sign the damn contract.Enough said!!!

  25. Debred says:

Why will he be Zidane in his first game…even Zidane was not Zidane in his first game!!!
Eriksen was good…but buying him is a different matter…
Trust SAF on that… don’t think Fabio’s statement is to add to any speculation…if the club were interested in Eriksen, Fabio wont know about it anyways…

  26. WillieRedNut says:

NBI Onion – Not just that comment. He has made other strange comments as well. He came on here and said, that Cleverley broke down in training. Then he said he hated gays! He’s a fucking wum!

  27. KeyserSoze says:

    @NBI

We all have a pretty good idea this is no spelling class, however, “hw cn u get wht hes actlly sayn, mt”?!

Eriksen is far from the finished article but he does look like a United player – you know when someone has the quality (not glitter) and combines it with intelligence and work ethic on the field, there really is no other club that epitomizes all these values combined.

i never said his poor and ye the dutch league is bad, players do get rated dependin on which league they play. a blue sq player gets rated diff 2 championship players hence clubs more likely 2 buy frm west ham than yeovil [whereva they are].

    at debred

dnt expect him 2 be zidane/worldclass, meanin dnt expect too much frm him 2 be answer all our probs

    at keysersoze

This is not a grammer test. I can spell however I want, in any form I want considering that I am texting from my phone and the limited amount of time in break I have been given. Also it is faster to txt rather than to write in full.

  30. Marq says:

    @Ricky

“i never said his poor ”

“i said hes nt all that, meanin overated”

So, is he ok or over-rated?

  31. denton davey says:

captaink9 @ 12:13: ” I like the look of young Eriksen. Cheap to I reckon.”

I disagree – he won’t be “cheap”. Besides, isn’t quality more important in determining if a player is likely to be a good fit for UTD ? He’s fast, tricky, and has a great LEFT FOOT. That last quality is, I think, key since currently UTD have only one natural left-sided player – Patrice Evra. Moreover, it looks like Eriksen is a continental #10 – like WeeWesley, Goetze, and Modric – and UTD have already have that position covered with TheWayneBoy (and Davide Petrucci is coming up through the reserves which no one seems to notice !) so if Eriksen were to be a UTD player then he’d probably be deployed as a winger.

  32. WillieRedNut says:

Ricky – I’m not targetting you. You’re bringing the shit on yourself. Who would lie about Clevs breaking down in training? Was it a joke? Not funny. You did say you hated gays. Don’t lie fella. I’m sure someone can remember what thread you said that on. Wind your neck in.

  33. NBI Red Onion says:

Hi dudes – on topic – I think you really get a sense of player when they play good opposition, re Erikson, while we may not be in the CL we are still one of the best teams in the world and he did well against a top team which is an arena few shine in. Can he sustain that and take it up a level who knows but the fact he performed well against a top team at his age is a huge positive. I have to admit I was not sure what the hype was about but I found him quite impressive almost a little Scholsy with his constant buzzing around as @ CBT pointed out. One to keep an eye on for sure, but he would take someones place, which may not be a bad thing, more competition.

  34. kungfoocantona1 says:

Well i think its fair to say that the boy has talent, no doubt. would fergie be interested in signing the kid? i think what weve learned over time with fergie is that he is never 1 to jump the gun with regards to signing a player. are scouting system is a long process and rightly so but at the same time sometimes you just have to take a chance and thats also what fergie has done in the past. so what i think might happen is fergie will watch from a distance but send his other pair of eyes to watch closely and see how he developes over the next 12 months or so then decide. unless clubs start bidding then his hand will be forced just like the rooney situ.

I would prefer for united to concentrate on keeping pogba than lookin elsewere as he for me is a diamond in the making. Why is he stalling? only the boy knows that one but i would say he wants more play time than money so i hope fergie doesnt fuck this up and we lose yet another gem(although with ravel he has only himself to blame).

i think there is no better time to blood the boy. i think fergie is blooding him as we speak with cameos here and there and we will prob see more of him in the next few months.

so to that end yes eriksen would be very welcome at united but i would prefer to concentrate on pogba.
