Falcao: I’d been in talks with United for months

Radamel Falcao has revealed that he is very proud to be a Manchester United player and that he has been in talks with the club for months.

“I am very proud to be at Manchester United,” he said. “We have been in talks with the club for some months and, in the end, we were able to reach an agreement with Monaco on the last day of the transfer deadline.”

Falcao hasn’t met his team mates yet but is particularly impressed with fellow new signing, Angel di Maria.

“I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with the players but, although they are stars, they are also footballers that play for the team to achieve the common goals of the group,” he continued. “I am sure this will be the basis of our success and in any team that wants to achieve important things. Angel is a fantastic player. I love the way he plays, I really do. I am very excited to be a team-mate of his and also to be part of Manchester United.”

    its good to know that he is really keen to play for United and he has revealed the enthusiasm we expect from a top top player but the comments of Robin van Persie leaves a lot to be desired. I feel he already feels threatened by the arrival of FALCAO and he’s been of form for a while now also the captaincy snub all add to his uneasiness .

  2. NairobiRed says:

    This squad is now good enough to finish top 3, it’s just bad enough we gave the chavs a 7 point lead, it may be too late but you never know.
    For me LVG’s biggest hurdle will be to drop the captain. If he can’t and persists then I’ll have to question these big balls people keep talking about.

  3. The One says:

    Now that we have the likes of falcao, RvP and Wilson, we should have sold that mercenary rooney and kept Welbz. Welbz’s a true Mancunian whereas that scouser rooney’s loyalty is questionable. His goal scoring record isn’t that good anyway and he hasn’t made much of a contribution to the team thus far this season, even as captain; what a shame!!

  4. Tommy says:

    RVP just said that everyone will have to fight for their place, what do you expect him say “im happy to let Falcao have my place”? Of course hes gonna say hes going to fight for his place. Looking forward to QPR game now, should be very interesting with Falcao and Di Maria in the squad.

    Dwight Yorke thinks we should be able to mount a title challenge despite the slow start and with the attacking options we have, its hard to disagree with him.

  5. Tommy says:

    United’s 25-man PL squad was submitted – it contains both Vermijl and Petrucci (How is he still at the club) but no other surprises. The U21 list included the name Regan Poole – a Welsh U17 international who’s on work experience with the club from Newport County.

  6. BenjieTee says:

    From the official site, Blackett has been placed in the Under 21 section..Does that mean he’s no longer guaranteed a spot with the arrival of Rojo.If so it would be sad..He’s much much better than Evan s at the moment.

  7. Dan Young says:

    tommy – not to mention we are still yet to play all the clubs that will be competing for the title. im currently quietly confident of a title push, once i see how the players gel and if we get away from this 3-5-2 formation then i will start to shout my mouth off a bit more

  8. NairobiRed says:

    @Dan young
    How will LVG fit RVP, falcao and Rooney in a 3-5-2. Not to mention Di Maria. I think we are about to see a shift to 4-3-3

  9. samuel - united WE stand says:

    Loyalty does not exist in life let alone football, wake up!.. It’s all business. Clubs are just as ruthless as the players. Discard the players when they become less effective, leave the club you supposedly love for another. All these sentimental gabbage, it’s employee-employer scrap, loyalty is just another piece of handkerchief waved at the gullible.

  10. Tommy says:

    The reason Blackett was place in the under 21 section is because players under 21 dont have to be in the 25 man squad, they can be used at any moment, so it makes sence to enable us to have a bigger pool of players.

    @Dan Young

    Still think LVG is going to go with a 3 5 2, he wouldnt use it all summer and have every level in the club using it only to change now, it would be madness and a complete waste of pre season.
