Farewell Cristiano Ronaldo

Just days after breaking the World record transfer fee when signing Kaka, Real Madrid have broken it again with an £80million offer on Cristiano Ronaldo which has been accepted by Manchester United. This is obviously without doubt the best bit of business United have ever done, by developing a player in to the best who helps us win three titles in a row and the European Cup, then selling on for a profit of £68million. We can’t complain!

“Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid,” read a club statement. “At Cristiano’s request – who has again expressed his desire to leave – and after discussion with the player’s representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player. Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.”

Ronaldo requested to leave eh? Well, thanks for all the help in winning our trophies Ronnie. Best of luck.

I’ll leave my reaction until later.

6 years, 292 appearances, 118 goals, 1 pink flower, 1 crashed sports car and 648362 hissy fits.

Ronaldo thanks for the memories. Good luck in your personal life.

80million quid going into the glazers black hole…

Judas Gill, Fergie and the club should be ashamed of themsleves for giving into madrid, just makes us look like a smaller club to them…

  3. ledo says:

Farewell oh stroppy one, would you like a lift to the airport? Thanks for everything and thanks for getting us nearly as much money as what Newcastle United are being sold for. Si thee.

  4. Jake says:

Big news, let’s get back Manchester UNITED

  5. Coogie says:

    “Ronaldo requested to leave”

Just over two weeks ago he said he wanted to stay, fucking get rid. Club dont need this shit any longer

  6. joero says:

    @ Costas

Agreed. I’ll remember him for the 07/08 season, and 80 million as well.

    Cheers Ronaldo. Best of luck.

  7. Jig says:

Good deal if you ask me; £80 Mill. Thanks kid, good luck at Real, wait till Rooney gets hold of you in the CL next year (we’ll obviously be drawn against each other)

  8. Xyth says:

Xyth Said,June 11th, 2009 @10:06 Good riddance. £80m is a great price for someone who does not want to be here.

From the very first time he said ‘he was happy at United’, I knew the ungreateful scheming bastard was lying. I hope that he flopps there and Barca win 10 titles in a row.

It would be nice to play them next year in CL and give him the treatment he really deserves.

  9. ronnyronnyjohnsen says:

We’ve been here before, the club will move on. We’ll never die! So long Ronaldo….

  10. Jake says:

For all those that have shouted down the people that have been calling this all year; hang your heads

  11. Androo says:

Thanks for everything Ron. 6 years of wonderful football and hissy fits. But just like United lived without Cantona and Becks, so will we without Ron.

    Who’s next for number 7?

  12. Phil says:

Thanks Ronnie…. Well Chris.. I don’t think we look like a smaller club to them! 80million is a great number for a player who doesn’t want to play with us anymore…so why should we keep Ronaldo while we all know he won’t give his best!

I hope Ronaldo replacement is already in Fergie’ mind :)

  13. Neil says:

Thanks for all the good performances, Cristiano, and good luck for the rest of your career (not in Europe though!)

Hope we spend the money wisely

  14. Quad says:

Manchester United winning the chapions League in Madrid….. Fucking PRICELESS

  15. AlphaRS says:

Ronaldo was about the only real world class player we had at United.

Anyone who thinks United are a better team without him is sorely mistaken.

If United do not win the Premiership next season we all know what the reason will be!

  16. Costas says:

Coogie we were all saying that he was talking crap when he was saying that he wanted to stay. I never believed him.

    @Chris20LEGEND:

Spot on. We have become Real’s feeder club. That’s 4 players in 6 years. And i truly hope that they don’t go into the Glazer black hole because they will be getting 20 thousand attendants at every home game next season.

  17. Drabik says:

The obvious question now is who is Fergie going to replace him with? I know Ribery is an option some people like, but others have said that he ultimately wants to be elsewhere.

Is this money gonna be used for Tevez? Is Valencia going to be a replacement? Is nani gonna stay now that his best mate is gone?

  18. Rasgullah says:

Real are mugs to pay 80 million for him. Hopefully if we spend wisely we should be able to emerge stronger. Thanks for all the memories Ron.

  19. Quad says:

If we now keep Tevez as some kinda consolation price, i will be pure pissed off. That 80 mill needs to be well spent …Valencia…do one

  20. Jake says:

Alpha- I’d take our club’s dignity over the success…You apparently don’t get it, maybe you should start supporting Barca because they beat us

  21. Costas says:

Tevez is a lost cause.Fergie phoned to convince him and he had no luck.

“You can’t treat someone badly one year and then expect to make up with a phonecall”.-A Tevez represenative.

  22. Arhh what the hell?? says:

    what the fuckkk man

  23. arsene wenger says:

easy guys, hows it going, chris legend be easy on fergie, the kid wants to leave they cant force him and shouldnt beg him to stay, whether or not the glazers will give fergie the 80 mill well thats another story

  24. Drabik says:

I agree Quad. Valencia isnt 1/4 the player ronaldo is. tbh I dont know who can fill his boots?!?

  25. Quad says:

Hopefully we already have a deal in place for Ribery, if not we will end up paying some hugely inflated price.

  26. Pride Of All Europe says:

Yeh thanks to the lad for his input over the years. But his head got too big for his boots, his wage demands too high and the bloody strops – my God!

Time for SAF’s new team to be built!

I wonder if he’s carying a virus with him ;-)

  27. Jagsy says:

good riddance, 80 mill is good seen as he could have bought his contract out next summer for 12 mill.. i suppose we had to sell really

  28. Rotegzy says:

I’m not sure I will miss him.I don’t hate him and I can’t say he is my ideal player considering his attitudes. But this is not to take anything away from him,he has done his bit,he at times was literarily carried united on his shoulders and won trophies for us.Viva Ronaldo.Just imagine what we can do with 80m.And excuse me pls are we selling them a virus.

  29. Rotegzy says:

  30. Its in my blood says:

    Thanks, ta-ra.
    United>Ronaldo.

  31. OP says:

Now at least the person who wears our famous 7 shirt will not be a totally ungrateful shit bag.

I think I made my position clear last night.

Ciao – thanks for helping united but you were always a bit of a twat – thank god we won’t have to defend you to other fans any more.

Whilst we are at it we all supported you after you turned the country against Roon – what a waste, it wasn’t as if you were Beckham or Cantona – just a preening ponce who was slightly embarrasing

  32. dan_utd says:

now we can buy 3 berbatovs

  33. Good to be a GOONAH!! says:

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

    Tevez next.

Wenger should put a bid on Rooney. There’s a firesale happening in Manchester!!!!

  34. AR says:

I say good luck to him, although I am dissapointed to seem him go and not commit to the club.

He has given us 6 seasons and made his name at United. He’s a fantastic player and has helped us to success to achieve a lot of success over the past three seasons.

You can not turn down £80 Million, should help to sign a few great replacements!

  35. Red_Ruth says:

Ronaldo, turning down Madrid? Stranger things have happened ?!?! Thanks, you will be missed.

  36. joero says:

Right now, we are a worse team without Ronaldo. As Quad said, Valencia can do one. We could still lose Tevez but if we don’t I expect to major signings over the summer.

A world class winger & a world class forward.

Laughable though. Is Ronaldo really worth 24 million more than Kaka?!! Real Madrid are mugs, although on the flipside, they are now looking like a much better team…!

  37. kidmeister says:

This is disappointing, who do we replace him with?Everyone will be watching how Tosic fares at the Euro’s now!I hope to we haven’t agreed to receive this £80 million in installments! If so,that’s suicide,Real will recoup that and more through sales of shirts! There’s talk of swapping Nani for Moutinho! But still doesn’t make up for the loss of Ronny.

!Keep the red flag flying high!

  38. Scott the Red says:

Good to be a Goonah – As IF Arsenal could afford any of our players lol.

The highlight of Arsenal’s season, United selling Ronaldo :D

  39. Costas says:

Buy Ribery and give him mumber 7 i say.And please let Tevez fuck off.No twats in the team fro now on.

  40. daveob82 says:

at least we won’t have to put up with the will he won’t he crap for the whole summer….. lets just hope it isn’t paid in installments!!!!

His attitude this season showed he felt he had outgrown the team…. nobody is bigger than Man U.
If you told me a year ago he was going I would have been unhappy… now I really don’t care….. onwards and upwards!!!!

  41. Football1st says:

A little gutted to the news even tho I didnt think id be as it was expected. Hes ben a massively important player for us its going to be difficult to see Utd without him especially when hes still so young.

But £80m! Alot of money! Well done David Gill!

I hope we spent it wisely.

I think Ribery will replace Ronaldo, i dont think it was a coincidence Real cooled their interest in him yesterday while probably in discussions with Gill & Co. They probably argued that they need a replacement.

Tevez looks set to leave also so Maybe a big money bid for Benzema will happen something Lyon have kind of encouraged.

We will see what happens. Faith we have in your Sir Alex!

  42. mancaroon says:

I’d love to be bitter and rant and rave about this……..but I can’t. Firstly because of the wonderful times he has given us over the last six years (remember his debut against Bolton- brilliant). And secondly because this means our club won’t be dragged all over the press this summer. The overiding feeling is disappointment at the club and SAF……’I wouldn’t sell that lot a virus’, unless of course they offer 80 mill.

So thanks CR7, good luck with everything, but remember this….the grass is not always greener.

and on and on and on…….

So now lets not discuss him anymore, who do you fancy as a replacement. Valencia and Villa anyone?

  43. Jake says:

firesale goonah? I dont think you understand the word, £80 million world record transfer fee during a recession for a player who will demand to be the centre of attention and inevitably upset other players is not a firesale

  44. theboogeyman says:

    Spot on.

  45. Billy Meredith says:

We’ve all expected this news for some time, even when comments like “this is my home” seemed genuine, we always had that doubt. And when the news broke earlier, I was fairly numb to it to be honest. But now I’m angry. Happy with the cash, but disappointed with Ronaldo, and UTD for giving in to THEM.

He could have been a legend! Why wouldn’t he want that?

  46. Quad says:

Scot, put up some Ronaldo magic moments up mate, people might wanna say good ridance and question his passion and commitment to the club. But dont let that get in the way that he is a fucking awesome footballer.

  47. AlphaRS says:

    @Jake

Get what? It’s true isn’t it? United are a better team with him rather than without him. The guy has carried the team at times and it only makes our rivals stronger.

We have given in to Real Madrid and we look like their feeder club.
Plus Ronaldo again stated he didn’t wanna leave a few weeks ago and chances his mind again. It’s all too much!

And no I can’t support Barca because I have just renewed my season ticket at Old Trafford. Maybe next year hey?!

  48. Drabik says:

Let put a bid in for Gerrard, he likes money right? And we wants to win the league at some point in his career…

    (im joking by the way)

  49. Wakey says:

I don’t see how we can replace him. I mean who do we buy Ribery @ 70mill for a player that’s a fraction of the player. Seriously its either blow almost all the money on an overpriced player or settle for Valencia, Park, Nani and Tosic as our wingers. Those wingers seriously won’t give any defence sleepless nights.

And it announces to the world and to any world class player that we are second rate club compared to Real. We aren’t and shouldn’t be acting like that but we are. Based on the cost of coming anywhere near replacing him we should have held out for more

  50. theboogeyman says:

I have a feeling he may say no.

  51. arsene wenger says:

lol you lot are going too far, feeder club my ass,man united are doin it on their terms,no one has ever left without their valuation being met, we got 16 mill for thierry henry, fucking darren bent joined spurs for 18 mill

  52. Jake says:

we are a better club without him alpha, I’d rather finish second and not have to put up with his childish behaviour all season

  53. Sash Sylvarre says:

My initial reaction is regret, since he’s a great player. But if he wants to leave, it’d be best to let him. I’m glad we still have SAF to figure it out.

  54. terry08anelka says:

It feels strange how many people are happy about this considering he’s one of our best players. I feel relief more than anything that this circus is finally over. In the lead up to most games this season its been all about him and not the team, he is not bigger than nd never will be. When you act like a 2 year old at the best of times your not going to endear yourself to utd fans, too many times this season he’s thrown fits on the pitch and given goals away with miss placed passes. Who will we buy? 80mill thanks and good luck.

  55. Macheda is GOD says:

    Judas
Cristiano Ronaldo has been Repetetivley saying I want to go to madrid.Very well you have made your point. Now Cristiano ronaldo you are an absolute IDIOT.Barcelona(which I haven’t heard any reaction from sky news yet) are in the best form ever,it seems he has forgotten that he has lost 2-0 to barcelona and will meet another diver in the El’classico Puyol.Which I would laugh my head off if Madrid lose 6-2 again.Cristiano ronaldo has made the biggest mistake in his whole courier. He has joined madrid,Well done now did you think it trough?haha I want to play for man united too but you don’t see me crying about it!

You are a Disgrace for the manchester united squad. You have left us.We will miss you but you will not miss us.

Just imagine Real Madrid VS Manchester united in the champions league Final.Priceless if we win it.My god I hate him now.
    :( YOU FUCKING CUNT

  56. Costas says:

Apart from Ribery, no other wnger out there can help replace Ronaldo straight away. I agree with Quad. Lets’ not take it out at Ronaldo. He got what he wanted. What he always wanted.Lets take it out on those who were promising that he wouldn’t be sold.

  57. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

Give Nani the number 7, see what he does with it! (i was joking when i wrote this…but who knows it could work)

  58. Drabik says:

Alpha. We may have sold them a few players in the past few years, but they have hardly excelled at Real Madrid. Ruud, Heinze, Becks were all better players at United.

  59. Macheda is GOD says:

    No costas
He said he is staying a million times. He is a fool in the eyes of the english media for lying to them everytime. What an idiot.

  60. kshetrajna says:

there is no way Valencia is good enough to replace Ronaldo …i would like us to bid for Silva….and if Tevez leaves i would prefer Aguero to Benzema

  61. mancaroon says:

guys, ronnie wasn’t world class when we bought him, we cultivated his talent to produce a world class player, as we did with Becks, Scholes, Giggs etc. have faith that SAF has spotted something in Nani, Tosic etc that he can develop.

and on and on and on

  62. theroc says:

Maybe we will get to see Wazza in his best postion now!! He’s the main man, not Ronaldo!
Think it was time to go, interesting to see who comes in!

  63. Rasgullah says:

    @AlphaRS

80 fucking million pounds. Some feeder club!

I agree that he was an awesome player and was instrumental in our 3 titles and 1 European Cup, but it’s pointless forcing him to stay when his heart really isn’t in it. We lost a world class player but we got 80 million quid, and I trust SAF to use that wisely and maintain us as a force.

  64. Costas says:

Macheda i never tool him seriously though. He is a certifiable liar anyway.Today everyone will call Sir Anlex and Gill hypocrites. Not Ronaldo.

  65. theboogeyman says:

The deal’s not done yet, maybe he will say no.

  66. kshetrajna says:

and regarding the number 7 right now i can only think of Rooney :)

  67. arsene wenger says:

everyone i know hates christiano ronaldo now, even man united fans,i never really hated the guy,i think he should go with a pat on the back and his head held high personally

  68. kshetrajna says:

why will he say no when he himself requested to leave??

  69. haha says:

Seriously excited about the impending spending spree. Seems a given that we’ll get Valencia at this stage. Goal scoring centre mid is badly needed and a hard as nails enforcer wouldn’t go astray either. If eto’o is available for the money being reported I’d like to have him, he is a bit leggy with ball at feet at times but still a class act. 15 mil on eto’o, 16 mil on valencia that leaves about 50 million to play with. Happy days.

  70. Costas says:

Arsene Wenger you are right. Not many hard feelings against him.

  71. Chris20LEGEND says:

Its not good business, were in trouble that bayern and wigan know we can spend more on ribery or valencia… bit like when we hesistated to buy berba, we could have got him for a few mill cheaper if we had of acted 2 weeks before citeh put in a bid!

Best player is gone? Sorry now Rooney is still here…

Talkcha Roonie, Its all down hill when you leave United

  72. arsene wenger says:

costas, man united should put that deposit down that we were talkin about last night,i knew this was gonna happen

  73. Jake says:

costas- that’s bollocks, he’s a liar and has obviously lied to Ferguson and others behind the scenes during the season, it’s not their fault they’ve eventually put the morale of the team above Ronaldo. ‘Next season I am definitely staying’…He’s done a lot for us but he has made some horrible mistakes duing this and I feel a bit for all the players he has left behind who thought they were a team…Because of his vacillations it’s tantamount to treachery

  74. Drabik says:

No, Rooney is sticking with his number, he only recently changed to number 10, and he was delighted at taking the shirt made famous by Denis Law.

I think someone young with massive potential as a winger should get number 7. I thought it was a massive gamble giving Ronaldo the number 7 shirt. I dont think anyone thought he could become as good (and better) than Becks, but he did.

  75. kshetrajna says:

    @ haha
i hope we get the money to spend on transfers and it does not go to solving the debts(excuse me for being a little pessimistic) :(

  76. theboogeyman says:

    Kshetrajna:Oh,ok,I didn’t notice that.

I’m with arsene wenger on how he should leave.

  77. Costas says:

Yeah Wigan will probably want 30 million for Valencia now. And Bayern will rate Ribery as high as Ronaldo.

  78. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

Boogeyman, if that ever happened then that would inflate Ronaldo to true Legend Status instantly….chances of it happening?! Probably the same as Ando hitting 40 goals for us next season! Talking of replacement…we need a world class winger and a world class striker now

  79. kshetrajna says:

ya i guess so …just hope whoever gets the shirt carries forward the great tradition

  83. Radio Deadon says:

£80 million quid for a virus, fucking hell David Gill’s a good salesman!!

  84. Drabik says:

I agree Costas. Hasnt Ribery been talked up as ‘as good as Ronaldo and Kaka’ in recent months by his club anyway? Actually, I think someone said that he was world number 1. I dont watch the German league, so I cant really compare.

  85. Football1st says:

Glad its happened so early though! Wont have it nagging at us all summer. Just want to hear rumours of how we will spend now!

  86. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

    Arsene Wenger….Eden Hazard, yes please!

  87. kshetrajna says:

how do you guys rate Aguero?I mean he must cost us the same as Benzema who wants to go to the Mob anyway!!And surely we can afford silva now cant we?

  88. NickM says:

    @AlphaRS
Ronaldo our only world class player?
I have to disagree with you, but I cannot be bothered to list our entire squad.
I will just say one word – Rooney.

I’m sure that Fergie knows that we needed a shake up after the CLFinal disappointment.
In the first instance it has become apparent that in the most important games Fergie did not trust Ronaldo to track back on the wing leading to our leaving Tevez and Berbatov out of the team. How many goals or goal chances occured last season from Ronaldo giving the ball away and not tracking back.
Also, and this can’t have escaped other peoples attention, last season Ronaldo didn’t beat players, or even try to beat players, he laid the ball off, and expected balls to be played to him in goal scoring positions.
He may have been injured for parts of the season, but he was nowhere near the level of 07/08. He had changed the style of his game, and not for the better.

It is always sad when a player of his calibre wants to leave – but lets be honest about this – he wants the sun and we would NEVER be rid of the rumours surrounding his move to Madrid until he went. It is better to get the most money we can now and not have to hear the rumours over and over and over again.

At last we can look forward to hearing about players who want to play for us, rather than wantaways. (Well, after the Tevez saga is resolved).

I have so many other thoughts on this subject but I’m at work and shouldn’t really be writing this now.

All I can say is that I am excited about the future!
We are going to have a new look team with a different focus – Rooney will grow without Ronaldo and I would rather have Rooney as the heart of our team than Ronaldo any day of the week.

  89. doncobaino says:

shopping list: who the fuck can we buy?

  90. arsene wenger says:

    ohhh ahhh lol baby ron

  91. chep says:

so many comments in such a short time….

I didn`t expect this one. sorry to say that, but I fear we will keep Tevez, buy Valencia and rest will be spent on the loan debts. we need a quality level of Ribery and Benzema…who knows what will happen in the summer. each player we would like to buy will be overpaid now

  92. Don Pablo says:

Finally! Rooney will take centre stage and finally show the world what he is about. ROOOOONEY!!! We will never die!

  93. Drabik says:

Do you think that Fergie has been playing Ronaldo up front recently to try other people in midfield, without leaving Ronnie on the bench? Lets be honest, Park has been one of the better players this season. He doesnt get the plaudits he deserves because he isnt from a big footballing nation.

  94. Costas says:

Aguero is a good choice but i say stay away from Argentinians for the time being.

  95. kshetrajna says:

or i wonder is SAF might just look at the 96 team and give a chance to the youngsters…i am sure he must be relishing the prospect of building a whole new team

  96. Wakey says:

@mancaroon Yes he didn’t join us as a great player but do we really have time to wait for Tosic to come good (or Nani or Valencia).

Can we afford to lose the league for the next couple of seasons to Chelsea who are looking to spend money or Liverpool (if they can keep their players and keep Torres and Gerrard fit). Or for that matter have a few seasons of under performing in the CL while they come good. We saw this season that we lack two wingers hence why Rooney was playing Wide. With no Ronaldo I have a feeling we may even see Rooney playing most of the season on the left with Berba and either Tevez if we keep him or Welbeck/Macheda/New Signing up top waiting for the others to come good.

Our Debt means we have to keep winning to service it and to keep improving the squad. We don’t want to end up like the gooners do we

  97. doncobaino says:

you actually have to laugh at arsenal fans, what did they get for henry their best player ever? a mars bar and a bottle of coke?

  98. Costas says:

Arsene Wenger maybe we should bring Hazard in and nurture him. Top class wingers are a dying breed.

  99. cherry says:

Dont knw what to say. Gutted to say the least, let him fuck off. Fuck Ronaldo, Fuck Madrid…fuck Portugal..let’s fuckin ask Nani for his Childhood team now and offer him to them free…Ronaldo is a cunt, selfish..moron I fucking hate him..

  100. AlphaRS says:

Come on guys this is stupid.

Yes he was annoying and petulant and a big cry baby but he was world class.

As I said makes our rivals stronger. But there is some relief I suppose that this circus has come to an end. The reason I feel betrayed is because he said he wanted to stay and now he has gone.

All I am saying is that United need to prove a point and win everything next season. But it seems like it will be more difficult without him.

  101. Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette says:

This is a travesty, an absolute travesty. BUT WE CAN GET GIUSEPPE ROSSI BACK NOW hopefully, we need another fan favourite.

  102. kshetrajna says:

Maybe but i still get all excited imagining Aguero playing for us

  103. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

I thought that when this day came i’d be totally gutted. In truth i just feel a bit dissapointed with the club but no hard feelings against Ronaldo.

  104. haha says:

Kshetranja – too important to replace Ronnie for them to pocket the transfer fee.

Bayern always come out on top of negotiations, they seem to be very shrude. I do like Ribery but he isn’t worth 65mil or whatever they quoted his value at.

Just and idea, dunno if he would suit the club but Tim Cahill always seems to pop up with goals for Everton and I bet we could get him cheap(ish) given their financial woes. He chcuks himself about as well, not being proven in Europ might be a problem.

  105. Jake says:

Costas- Fergie isn’t the most intelligent man on the planet and he spouts off occasionally without thinking but he has obviously realised that Ronaldo is a very different kettle of fish and that his immature behaviour is unchangeble and detrimental to the club…Fergie made a mistake with his statement, Ronalo has simply lied and lied and lied…I was one of the many who called his real desires nearly all the way through and although there’s part of me that wishes we were all wong, it was always coming sooner rather than later

  106. AlphaRS says:

Actually he will be able to use the copyright he had now.

He had CR7 and what else was it? CR10? Can’t remember.

  107. wazza says:

thanks a ton Ron. we needed another 20 Million to make it 100 M deal.
hope Fergie signs some top draw replacements soon to ease the pain a bit.
we should go for Eden Hazard, the next Ron.
and where the hell is the twat Platini hiding ?

  108. unitedgirl15 says:

Who on Earth can replace him!?!

  109. Costas says:

    CR9 Alpha

  110. theboogeyman says:

    @AlphaRS:CR9,I think it was

  111. joero says:

Ha! imagine Ronaldo rejects personal terms and remains at United.

  112. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

kshetrajna : class of 2010 Lets win it with the kids again

  113. Besher says:

    I’m sick and disgusted

  114. theboogeyman says:

    Beat me to it,Costas… :)

  115. rohail says:

ROONEY to come to the fore!

  116. Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette says:

get rid of Tevez now and get Rossi, he is a class class class act

  117. kshetrajna says:

Hope so Lets see now how to spend 80 million
    Aguero-35
Silva-25(maybe cheaper because of Valencia’s financial problems)
A strong midfield enforcer(we still have 20 million for this plus the Campbell transfer fee)
Not bad which means we have not spent anything of last years profit!!!

  118. Its in my blood says:

Aguero going to the rentboys for £45m apparently!

  119. Costas says:

Jake-I was right there with you.Everytime he pledged his future to the club this year,i was saying “don’t believe him”. I am not mad at Ronaldo because my expectations from him had dropped. I didn’t care anymore. I was just wishing that Gill and Fergie coulod have been more honest with us

  120. Costas says:

    Silva is another option.

  121. daveob82 says:

Ribery will be beaten around the Premiership… he does well in German football cos there is very little physical contact…..

    AlphaRS-
He registered CR10 in Spain…. the cunt!!!

  122. Stephen says:

Good business for a player who wants to leave, at least it did not turn into a fire sale, player going on strike ect, well done Gill for the first time you have negotiated. Will my season ticket go down next season with the new windfall?

  123. theboogeyman says:

@unitedgirl15:That’s for Sir Alex to know and us to find out…

  124. Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette says:

sorry no Aguero I’d rather have ROSSI AND DAVID SILVA

  125. Melvinho7 says:

Thanks for all the memories Ronnie. Fantastic Player, haven’t got a bad word to say about him despite all the crap. We’ll move on like we always do.

Fergie, It’s time for Benzema in the number 7 Shirt and re-sign Tevez!!!

…and please dont sign Valencia !!

  126. kshetrajna says:

NOOOOOOO!!! Comeone he is too classy a player to go to Chelsea…come on United Bid for him!!!

  127. Costas says:

Silva and Benzema could be ideal transfers. And we will definitely keep some of that 80 million for other moves.

  128. Red_Ruth says:

I will be disgusted if we use more of a third of that money to buy Tevez.

  129. RedAlert360599 says:

Yes Wazza, I wonder what Platini thinks about Madrid getting so far into debt? Probably OK, they’re not English are they.
I’m sad. I feel we’ve lost something that’s irreplacable. I know it was inevitable but it still hurts.
Ribery and Benzema to replace Ronaldo and Tevez. Although that just might be swapping 2 players that don’t really want to play for us, for two players that really don’t want to play for us. :-(
Sod it, bring in the kids like 94!

  130. Jake says:

Fair point, but I understand their positions more…The one thing I will say is that the bigger picture here is that La Liga has had a pretty good month against the Premiership which is to the detriment of all the clubs and United…Us, City, Liverpool and Chelsea need some big responses otherwise the power may start to shift, although that’s probably a long way off yet

  131. Jake says:

and no Benzema, I can’t be doing with any more of these Real Madrid antics

  132. arsene wenger says:

so thats 2 galacticos,2 more to go

  133. Its in my blood says:

Costas mate, if a player catergorically states he wants to go. so be it! SAF and Gill have obviously decided that we could do without yet another summer of Ronnies bollocks. For me, no blame to them at all.
We lost the final, time for yet another SAF team. We have to continually evolve, bring it on!

  134. Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette says:

resign Guiseppe Rossi for c. 16 million, david silva for c. 20 million, moutinho for nani, and two or three decent defenders: Mahmadou Sakho, Kyle Naughton and the excellent Sergio Ramos.

  135. kshetrajna says:

Talking about the La Liga…i am sure Ronaldo is going to find it easier than playing in England. Now lets see if he can really be compared to the greats(like Zidane) and lift up his team(it is easier when he has players like Kaka with him though)

  136. unitedgirl15 says:

@boogeyman- but now loads of people will be going “buy ribery buy benzema buy aguero buy silva buy villa” And its going to be soooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!

  137. Costas says:

Jake-They had to wake up at sometime. As far as the Champion’s League is concerned, the Premier League has been kicking their ass for a while now. Barcelona might have won it twice in 4 seasons, but look at how many English Big 4 teams made it to the Semis every year. But Real have to buy sensibly too. What good are Kaka and Robaldo if no one is doing the running for them?I think English clubs will respond.

  138. AlphaRS says:

Arsene Wenger who are the other 2 Galacticos?!

  139. kshetrajna says:

What i dont understand is where is all this money coming from??

  140. Quad says:

Call me greedy but does anyone think that we could have got more than 80 mill.

  141. wazza says:

@costas : 648362 hissy fits. where did you get that stats from ? lol
i hope he does a Robbie Keane, but very unlikely

  142. Costas says:

    @Its in my blood

You are right. It is all about evolution for this club. I just hope that fans are prepared to enter a transitional period. Just like we did when Beckham left. Realistically, you can’t replace these players.

  143. Drabik says:

What about Wesley Sneijder? He hasnt had the best of times at Madrid, but still is a good player. And wont cost a bomb.

  144. arsene wenger says:

alpha could be anyone, david villa, cesc, tevez, englishmen wont be on the list, 2 more galacticos for madrid

  145. cherry says:

I can’t see us getting Ribery tbh

  146. Jake says:

It doesn’t neccesarily matter about the champs. league costas, it’s if more people in China and India want to watch Real and Barca but we have a good lead on them at the moment and we have to maintain it.

  147. theboogeyman says:

@unitedgirl15:I know.Other than Benzema,I don’t mind the lot of them. But I’m not going to say anything *COUGH EDEN HAZARD COUGH* because Sir Alex will do the best thing possible for the club, even if it’s an unknown like Ronnie was when he joined the club.

Oh,and for the record,I’m just jumping on the bandwagon, because I’ve not seen him play.

  148. Drabik says:

kshetrajna , I think Perez has 1.8 billion from construction businesses

  149. haha says:

drabik – what is Sneijders natural position? I haven’t seen all that much of him tbh.

  150. kshetrajna says:

    @ costas
you are right about the time part…but i doubt that we can afford it because of our debts :( we need to keep winning to keep it under control

  151. King George the Switzer says:

He’d started to cloud Fergie’s thoughts as well don’t forget. CL Final:

“Right, I’ll put two of my £30m strikers on the bench and the other one on the wing. Who shall I play centre forward? That winger we’ve got! He seems to score a lot doesn’t he?”

Well yeah, but he takes all the penalties, all the free kicks and shoots every time he gets the ball.

Thanks for your efforts Cristiano – but all is most definitely not lost!

  152. haha says:

Madrid got all their money from the Spanish govt buying their training ground for a crazy amount of money then renting it back for something like 1euro a year. Pack of scumbags

  153. arsene wenger says:

perez is only the president though,he dont use his own money, madrid just take debt and pile it ontop of mor debt, their tickets are cheap as well,so 70thousand people and they dont even make what west ham make on gate reciepts

  154. Macheda is GOD says:

Red_Ruth Tevez is a fool like ronaldo. He knows where the silverware cabinet is.

  155. shakshamboo says:

people are saying that 80 mil is a great for us. although i have read somewhere that this will be in 3 year installments.

Its not how much we got for him. its the promises that were made by gill and saf about not selling and not selling madrid a “virus” that are going in my head right now. by selling ronaldo united’s status in the world will be undermined immensely. it will be seen as a bigger club getting some player from a smaller club by forcing it to sell. people will say that we were not forced but that is the fact. 80 mil for one player should have cheered me up. but it has not and i think every united fan will feel sad and angry although not many will acknowledge it. Also the team moral will be quite low come next season which can cost us dearly all through the next season. the reputation we have built of being the best in the world in the previous 3 years will go down the drain.

To get that moral boost for next season we now have to make 2 big name world class signings even if dont need them. for me the next will depend hugely on these transfers.

  156. Its in my blood says:

    @Costas
Agreed mate. Our whole style of play has to change once again.
If anyone in the world can make that transformation, it’s SAF.
The input of a new no.2 might be helpful.

  157. kshetrajna says:

This really is disgusting…Platini and all the other bastards cant be so Hypocritical!!!

  158. andoando says:

lets use the 80 million and sign messi hahaha, it wud be epic
sign david villa and try for ineaseta and frget ribery
i tip anderson to become the best player next year, fergie loves him and stated he will become the best player in the world so lets give him his prefered role as a winger

  159. BrisbaneRed says:

I reckon I’ll be laughing my balls off in 12 months time after Fergie has guided UTD to another EPL title.
    Laughing?
Yes laughing at all those ABUs who now think that UTD will be weaker next season.
Just lets see who the incoming players will be.
Fergie will be allowed to spend all of the Ronaldo money, plus the regular £25m he gets every year, plus any money he receives from players sold, currently standing at £6m. A pot of gold indeed.

  160. arsene wenger says:

bogeyman, dont worry about the band wagon, hazard is the man,but he has probably already signed a secret deal with someone, could even be you lot but he will stay in france for another year

  161. arsene wenger says:

platini is a memeber of the real madrid board though,or the real madrid supporters club or some shyt

  162. corea says:

    Costas, yes. fuck off Tevez!
Give Rooney the captain armband. Thank you Ronaldo for everything. I for a single second have never thought of putting your name on the back of my Manchester United kit but you helped us winning trophies and thank for this. He won’t change and i’m afraid as i hate Real i will hate you in Real’s shirt.

FUCK OFF TEVEZ! If this all is true don’t even thing of signing him.

  163. Drabik says:

    Haha!

Sneijder is a winger and an attacking midfielder. Ive seen good things from him in the past. And with Kaka and Ronaldo going to Madrid, they’re going to need to sell players. We can make any player better, so why not him?

  164. Tufty says:

The time to refelct is not now, the time to reflect is not at the end of the season, the time to reflcet is in 2 years time.
Ronaldo has been a legend of a player for Utd, achieving more than Best or Cantona.
However, at £80 million, you cant turn that down.
The key now is who we go out and buy.
Quality players who can make a difference.
We need 3 or 4 decent players.
Nani is not good enough, we need a forward and we need quality on the wings and a decent midfielder.
Tevez is also not the answer, as dosnt get enough goals.

I would definately take – Benzema and Valencia
Maybe – Ribbery, Silva or Villa.

Over the next few days we will be linked with everyone, but its an exciting time.

  165. TheRedC says:

I posted this on ‘Ronaldo’s poncey tan and flowery pink hat’ thread, started yesterday. I want to make sure I get things off my chest in a proper manner because I want closure! So I’m going to share my grief on this thread too!

Well, at last he is gone. The pain and bitterness I have from last year, when he made sure we fans could not celebrate an amazing season and a historic Champions League victory, have re-surfaced with avengance. His attitude since then has been plain for all to see, but we fans have tried to cover up for him and ‘invent’ other circumstances that could account for his pathetic body language and petulance. The way he denounced his ‘true love’ when they were humiliated by Barca gave us false hope. We thought he had finally come out and stated his allegiance to our great Club. Now we know the true nature of this child’s character, a mercenary, a Judas, a primadonna, a flowery twat in a pink hat! Don’t give me all this about his ‘boyhood team/dream’. Two months ago he had confined Real Madrid to the bin. He could see himself spending most of his career with us. This team was doing special things he wanted to be part of. Manchester was his home now – God it makes me sick to the stomach to realise how this twat has played the club, the fans, his fellow players and Sir Alex. We must make sure that he is never ever spoken of as a United legend. He said himself that he wanted that but he must never be allowed to sit alongside our true heroes. He must be removed from this club as quickly and expensively as possible with the full knowledge that the only way for him now is down!!

  166. Wazza says:

Ronaldo never tracks back when playing. I got fed up with all his acting skills. When Ruud was sold to real madrid, the same question arose, who will get us these goals? In fact Manchester United is a goal machine. No individual can be irreplaceable in the team.

As for Madrid its their problem how to make Kaka, ronaldo, raul and co(robben….) play together whom by the way do not like to defend. The galactics are going to crumble down. Mark my words

I think Sir Alex will rebuild the team around Rooney. So we will end up playing Wayne in his natural position, just behind a striker (Berbatov).
Wazza is a long term solution for us rather than ronaldo. Perhaps nani will get enough games to raise his standards. The latter has a lot of potential.

I hope that we face real in the champions league and demonstrate them who is the boss.

    Long live Manchester United.

  167. pipmc05 says:

Fu**in ass hole . . .we made that twat . . . and i personally hope he breaks his leg

  168. kshetrajna says:

After the ronaldo saga i would not want Benzema at United!!! How about a cheeky Bid of 40 miliion for Torres and see the dippers reaction :D

  169. Its in my blood says:

    @The RedC
er… yes, ok, i can go with that!

  170. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

Call him a legend or dont call him a legend. But no one can deny the fact that he has been the biggest influence on our success over the las 3 years.

  171. Costas says:

    @kshetrajna:

    lol.They wouldn’t sell us a virus!

  172. Drabik says:

I hope you’re right Wazza. It was good to see that some of the old Galacticos never won the trophies they wanted (although I was sort of glad that Becks won la liga in his last season there). I hope that Barca dominate Spain for the foreseeable future!!

  173. Hassan says:

Does this mean an excruciating summer of who we will sign/ wont sign. I cant stand that crap, going to switch off my computer for the next 65 days and tune in to the community shield hoping for a nice surprise(Rooney up front).!!!

  174. Quad says:

    pipmc05 : Grow Up

  175. theboogeyman says:

Does anyone here even consider the minor possibility of re-signing RVN from TheVirus? He can score goals, and may be able to help us through the transitional period we may or may not go through.I know he fought with Sir Alex, but still…

  176. kshetrajna says:

    @ Costas
with their financial position you never know…and it will be fun watching FSW saying”Clearly they have more money than us…Clearly we are selling him” :D

  177. cherry says:

Let both Tevez and Ronaldo fuck off. We can do without their constant moaning and disrespect for us fans and the boss. What we need to do now is to go back to drawing board and not allow this Ronaldo thing to devastate us to a point that we cant win the league next season. Atleast we now have a point to prove.

  178. Drabik says:

We dont need Ruud. If we wanted someone like him, we would go for Huntelaar. However, a winger is the priority!

  179. Costas says:

    @Boogeyman:

Unfortunately, no player that leaves the club ever comes back. Hughes was the last one. Depending on whether we play with 2 wingers or 3 DM’s and a goalscoring midfielder in from of them, that will shape out tramsfer moves.

  180. Drabik says:

I always used to buy Robin Van Persie on Football Manager. Not because I like him, but just because it always worked. Has undoubtably got talent, but i doubt it would ever happen.

  181. Drabik says:

Oh, I just had a thought. Everyone has been talking about Ribery, but what about that other Bayern Winger. Schweinsteiger?!?

    I always rated him!

  182. Costas says:

    @kshetrajna :

Clearly that would be funny as hell!

  183. Wakey says:

@Drabik Perez fortune doesn’t matter. He isn’t allowed to use any of his personal money by law. The money comes from Bank Loans, Banks who are not allowed to foreclose on any loan they give Real so its effectively free money as they will never be required to repay

  184. Costas says:

    @Drabik
I thought about it last year.I think him and Sneijder are a poor man’s Beckhams. They have a good right foot on them but not too good with their dribble.

  185. Drabik says:

Wakey. Im just going by what SkySportsNews are saying. It wouldnt surprised if he did use his money though. Who is gonna question Real Madrid? Certainly not the Spanish Government, and certainly not UEFA.

However, Sid Lowe has just said on Sky Sports that; In theory, Perez could loan money to Real Madrid, with interest payments.

  186. kshetrajna says:

How about a look at Tuncay guys???!!(Forgive me for throwing so many names!!But i am soooo excited by the thought of us being able to afford any player we want)

  187. unitedgirl15 says:

United should do a swap deal.
Okay Madrid you can have Ronaldo.. if we have Kaka

  188. Drabik says:

I’m throwing names around too kshetrajna. I just cant see anyone that can fully replace him :(

  189. Drabik says:

Unitedgirl, even Real Madrid arent that stupid. lol

  190. kshetrajna says:

yeah i know but i am sure with so much money e can get 2 or 3 players who are better than a single Ronaldo

  191. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

If Fergie wants to spend 100 mill this season, i fucking hope to god that the board lets him. I also hope that this decission was made with Fergies full backing… if not it signal the end

  192. gazmask says:

I have to say i will miss him for his pure footballing ability and knack of sometimes single handedly winning games for us but not for his wayward attitude and all the hype he brought with him.
Theres no doubt in my mind he always gave his all for united on the pitch and he gave us some great memories but his heart was in madrid so it was going to happen some day.
Getting 80mil for one player no matter who he is is a huge amount and can now go towards replacing ronaldo’s goals hopefully.

c’mon fergie get the feelers out on david villa or samuel e’to aswell as a playmaking central midfielder.

Thankyou ronnie and good luck living out your dream…
ive a feeling it might not be all you thought it would be

  193. corea says:

And finally it’s time for the sick proposals.
People, stop for a second. We are not a whorehouse, we are ManUnited.

  194. Costas says:

I think we can use the money to bulk the squad in places that it need it.For example, another defender wouldn’t be so bad.Neither would a holding midfielder.Don’t worry baout finding he next Ronaldo.Just get a defender,a DM and a winger. If Tevez leaves, get a striker too.

  195. Suprah says:

    United Will Prevail.

  196. shakshamboo says:

i know why SAF said that he will not sell madrid a “virus”, i think at that time he didnt realize the fact that

    REAL MADRID IS THE VIRUS

  197. kshetrajna says:

Interestingly now that i know Ronaldo is leaving..I feel better about losing Tevez too :) we can rebuild the whole team and be set start fresh for the 19th title next year

  198. kidmeister says:

Real negotiated their own TV rights for somewhere near £1billion that’s how they afford these transfer fee’s.Where’s Blatter or Platini now??

  199. Costas says:

If only Hargo was fit!I would have liked him to play as a right midfielder until Nani or Valencia stepped up.

  200. Macheda is GOD says:

    kshetrajna
    Tuncay is too old
    MACHEDA IS THE FUTURE.

  201. kshetrajna says:

one thing for sure…With Chelsea also looking to spend big this season we need to buy players and we need atleast one Big signing…to lift the morale of the team

  202. Costas says:

    @kidmeister

Latest reports say that Blatte and Platini haven’t heard the news. Their heads are still up Perez’s ass.

At least the “slave” is now free.

  203. kshetrajna says:

Tuncay is 27 or 28 i think …thats not old

  204. shakshamboo says:

    I have a suggestion.

how about from now on we start calling real madrid “The Virus”
    :-)

  205. Costas says:

I wonder how King Eric will take the news. Apparently the Nike thing didn’t get in the way.

  206. haha says:

kshetrajna – I do like Tuncay but he isn’t the sort of player we need.

  207. King Eric says:

Farewell Ronnie and Thanks. A new time has arrived for United now. Lets get rid of ANYONE that does not want to play for United. Fascist cunts. We will come back stronger, we always do.

  208. Frank says:

All those making vexatious comments against CR7 should be considerate. 80m is a great deal of business and the lad has done a lot for United. He is Portuguese not English that only can not make him glued on English soil than Spain or Italy which sound their preferences. Good luck CR7

  209. Gudjohnsen says:

We should get Huntelaar in exchange for Ronaldo, that would probably deduct 15 mills from the 80 mills. So I say, 65mills for Ronaldo and Huntelaar in exchange. Then Tevez can piss off to City and we can buy a replacement for Ronaldo. I like Ribery and Silva the most, I’m not sure if Valencia can fill Ronaldo’s shoes. I also reckon we need a defensive midfielder like Daniel De Rossi.

  210. King Eric says:

Costas – Yeah I am surprised about the Nike /Adidas sponsorship. Thought that would be a huge stumbling block but apparantly not. Bit numb to be honest.

  211. haha says:

costas – I agree we need players for those positions but we also need some sort of goal scoring threat from midfiled. Carrick, Fletch, Hargo and the rest will just about break 5 goals a season each. Any chance of poaching Fabregas from the Gooners? After all they are a business rather than a football club, the Silvestre deal means they owe us one :)

  212. haha says:

I didn’t mean Fabregas as a goal scoring threat btw

  213. King Eric says:

I reckon there will be a player or two in the deal as well.

  214. Costas says:

Speak of the devil.Good morning King Eric. This was one time that my negative instincts were correct.80 million + our current transfer kitty = 100 million apparently. If we spend it wisely,we could enter the next season as stromg.I hear that Ronaldo has carried the club in the last 3 years.Wrong.What about Vida,Carrick,Rio,VDS,Brown,Fletcher and most importantly Wayne Rooney?

  215. Its in my blood says:

    @Ohhh Ahhh
Good point, no one seems to know if this has been done with SAF’s backing.
As you said, if not, it’s the end!

  216. kshetrajna says:

So we need a sriker to replace Tevez?
hmm….we can get Villa or Etto or Huntellar or Aguero
    we need a winger ?
we can get Silva or Ribery…

the midfield is where i am not sure we have too many options…i really cant think of any players who can play the Roy Keane role
Come on Ando step it up

  217. unitedgirl15 says:

I wish they were that stupid :(

  218. Wazza says:

I will not say adios to Ronaldo as I have the feeling that we will end up playing Real in the champions league.

We will receive the judas with the appropriate reception.

The red red devils are back on track to more glory era

We are a real team. Not Real Madrid which got only strikers.

    lol

  219. King Eric says:

Absolutely Costas and now Wayne can step up to the plate and show the world. My only concern is that the money will go straight to the Glazers.

  220. Ben says:

There is one thing I’m confused about. I would never doubt Feguson’s decision, after all, he knows more about football than anyone else in the world, but I hope that Valencia is the wing replacement for Ronaldo. I don’t think Valencia is good enough at all for United, let alone replace the world’s best player.

I hope Ribery is in line for that empty wing slot, but Bayern are refusing to sell, so where do we go?

Although, the £80m should secure Tevez and maybe another player or two to fill out some gaps.

As for Ronaldo, I’m grateful for what he’s done for us, but I truly believe that he will not be as individually successful at Madrid with players like Kaka and Robben. Even United have players like Rooney and Tevez, they work for the team and Ronaldo had the limelight. Bad move for him, good move for both teams.

  221. corea says:

Please, don’t spoil this blog with stupid comments.

  222. Paul the red says:

I dont tink Madrid will be in debt after this…. the King of spain always bails them out…
i think Kaka will make Ronaldo look like a one trick pony out there.. but i must admit that as hard as it is to see him leave, he wanted this move (alot) and 80 million is a good bit of business… i may be totally in dream land here but i would offer barca a massive amount for Inniesta and see what happens…. he would make a big difference

  223. wazza says:

fuck tuncay. we need top draw replacements and surely no way Tevez. let him fuck off to Shitty.
@Costas : King Eric might be on duty. waiting to hear from King Eric, Giles and Suhayl who will have a proper go at Ron i guess.
i am expecting this article to smash the record for comments on RoM.

  224. Costas says:

King Eric,in the past they have said that money generated by the football team go to the football team.I hope they are right or this could be a long season. Not too crazy about getting Real’s sloppy secods though.

  225. Wakey says:

Seriously guys HOW is Fergie going to build a team around Rooney. For Starters we don’t have a striker who will stay up top and allow Rooney to play where he wants and would be best suited.

And then with no Ronaldo we are weak on the wings and we were forced to play Rooney on the wing this season. I think we may see him forced to play on the wing. Lets look at the options

Park – Great Work rate and good for when you need a more defensive winger
Nani – Great potential, hopefully will come good but its touch and go
Tosic – Not expecting much from him this season
Giggs – Too old to play on the wing regularly
Valencia? – Good player but I’m not convinced hes United quality yet

The only other options would be
    Rooney
Welbeck – Played on wing in a few games. Not convinced with him there though
    Fabio – Might Work
Evra – Played as a winger before

Personally I have to say from all those options and with our striker options It seems to me the only option will be to use Rooney on the wing more than he was this season. Ofc additional signings ontop of Valencia (Which must be a done deal now, He apparently wants to goto us and I suspect Real will pull their bid now) might change that. We did bid of David Silva last season so maybe we will snap him up and an out and out striker which would allow Rooney to play in the hole

  226. Drabik says:

What about joaquin? Or am I just spurting rubbish now?

  227. TheRedC says:

@Ohhh_Ahhh, don’t make me laugh! The biggest influence on this team has been Sir Alex, no one else. The ‘twat with the pink flowery hat’ has played in a great young team the last three years. He has played with excellent players in defence, who have covered his arse, and alongside a Wayne Rooney and Tevez who have done his donkey work. He carried on where Ruud left off. It is obvious that if we can find a half decent goal scorer with a bit of strength and energy, then this team would make him look ‘Real’ good, if you get my drift. I agree with some of the guys on this thread; the one that got away was Torres. If we had not dithered so long over that one, Sir Alex would have got rid of Flowery last year. Torres would have lit OT up, with Wayne the perfect partner. By the way, just in case no one read Scott’s thread on Ronaldo’s tan yesterday, it’s where I got the flowery pink hat info from – the bloody ponce (Ronaldo that is Scot).

  228. haha says:

I love big news days on ROM. Any distraction from work is appreciated.

  229. Siraj Saidi says:

So long comrade!! At some point we all knew you wanted to fight on the enemy’s side but to fetch such hefty amount of money is worth a consolation. Persue your dreams comrade. You have left a bitter taste in our mouths but like UNITED, club is bigger than a player. Thanks for the marvelous work you did over the years. The good point in all this is that united comes through such situations stronger. How i wish we meet the Galacticos along the way in Europe, I guess CR7′s former teammates have a word or two to whisper to him!!

  230. Costas says:

Wazza,King Eric is here.Where is Suhayl by the way?Haven’t seen heard of him since Rome.

By the way, what’s the record for most comments in a topic?

  231. haha says:

what is the record number of posts on this site? anyone? sounds like a stat for costas

  232. RedAlert260599 says:

It could be that Fergie has seen the vision of football’s future in the CL Final.
The way Barca play could be the way forward.
They defend high up the pitch. As soon as they lose the ball the attackers chase and tackle to get it back. They give the opposition no time on the ball. If it gets past the attackers, the midfield jump in immediately. This means all the players need to be total footballers, athletes, willing to work hard for the team. When they get the ball they need to be able to pass it, quickly and accurately.
Can you ever see Ronaldo tracking back right through a game?
Madrid may have bought a great player, but at 24 he could already be a football dinosaur. A new breed of player is arriving. Messi, Inesta, Rooney.
    Trust in SAF.

  233. KJ says:

He was a great player. I will miss him alot, but I wont cry over him.

Now down to business, who can replace him? It depends. Do we need a winger? do we want a goal-scorer?

If we just want a winger, anyone can fill in: Nani, Valencia, Ribery maybe, David Silva?

But if we want a goalscorer that gets us 30 a season, David Villa ofcourse

  234. Costas says:

haha, i can’t help with that. I am curious myself.Thanls for the faith though. I remember seeing 400+ posts when we lost to the dippers.

  235. King Eric says:

For those slagging Valencia did anyone see the Ecuador v Argentina game. He was quality second half.

  236. corea says:

Jake is right. I wouldn’t swap dignity for all of this.
It doesn’t matter if we end up 2nd in the Premiership next season. I wouldn’t mind if the money will help us reduce thу debts.
We are okay now. 11th of June and we can regroup and yes, fuck off all the players who don’t want to be here.
Base on Evans, Brown, Rio, Vida, Fletch, Oshea, Carrick, Hargo, Rooney, Berba, Campbell, Wellbeck. Base on players who want to be here.

No Villa, no Silva, no Etoo, no Ribery (Bayern are out of their minds), no Tevez (i don’t want to hear about him)..
Sign Valencia for 15 mln. Iа Ronaldo is worth 80 he is worth that money. He is fast, he is strong, he is tough and he played in the Premiership for 2 years now.

Please, we are not a whorehouse.

  237. BigDippa says:

An awful lot of toss written here.

Ronnie gave us alot, we gave him more.

We groomed him and he became the best in the world, down to his hard work and our platform/coaching/players/support/management etc.

He was a pain in the ass from day one, but he grown into a bigger pain.

So time to part ways, good luck to him, lets not bitch though hey!

Not many replacements out there, but the same was apparent when Cantona, Becks, Keane, Robbo left. United are bigger than any playe, Fergie is far more important than any one player. Ronaldo will live to regret this decision alogn with Kaka, Real have no defence and will at first succseed before failing like the previos Galacticos.

Onto Tevez, i wouldnt sign him. Great bloke, but not prepared to sit on the bench…he does not always warrant a start, no truly great team would guarantee that.

  238. joero says:

Also seeing reports of Sporting Lisbon trying to re-sign Nani either as an extended loan or as a cash + player deal with Joao Moutinho moving to United.

So…if all is believed to be true..

    OUT:
    Ronaldo 80M
    Tevez 25M
    Nani 4M+Player
    Campbell 6M

    IN:
    Moutinho
Robben – 14M, Madrid need to sell, Fergie is a fan. Undoubtably a quality winger
    Valencia – 16M
    Benzema – 40M possibly more.

Other striker alternatives; Dzeko, Villa, Rossi

    Thoughts?

  239. Drabik says:

I wouldnt like Robben… He is already renowned as a diver in England. We dont need another player with that reputation.

However, we do need another player for the opposition fans to hate… Who are they gonna boo now?!?!?

  240. Wakey says:

@Paul the red They are around €560 million in debt officially as it is. Unofficially they are said to owe €900 trillion in loans that still exist but as far as the accounts go are considered written off as the banks won’t chase them. They will be even further in debt after this but it really doesn’t matter to them

  241. AlphaRS says:

    @Corea

You might be thiking again if it is Liverpool who win the Premiership next season.

  242. Costas says:

We did 483 during the Champion’s League final. It seems like disappointments bring us closer!

  243. trevor says:

I will miss him but i dont want a player at a club who didnt want to play for them!

One player doesnt make a club! 80 Mil is a lot of money to re invest in players! Add to that the 20 – 30 mil in the kitty for this summer we have 100 mil!

If honest i would take robben as part of the 80 mil deal on the cheap! I also would go for ribbery! – That would be our left and right wings sorted!!!

    Plus money remaining for Benzima!!!!

Dont forget that they have had 1 year to plan this! This was agreed last year as a comprimise. Fergie will have people in place or an idea on where he is going!

  244. davep says:

80Mill sounds like good business, but without Ronaldo we’d have won fuck all over the last two seasons. How much is winning the league and champions league worth?
This deal was in all likelihood done last year and Real were apparently haggling about the agreed price over the last few days. I don’t blame Ronaldo, why couldn’t Utd say no this year as they did last year? I fear Utd are becoming the club that the Glazier bashers have predicted and have no regard for Fans or Football, just cash. The club don’t give a fuck about fans anymore and the Glaziers don’t give a fuck about football
It will be interesting to see what they do with the money and I don’t think that they will spend it wisely, perhaps they’ll add more seats to the stadium. That’s another thing, there was speculation that the Glaziers would eventually sell Old Trafford and take a lease option on it, that’s next, the greedy cunts!
With regard to Fergie’s plan B, I hope that it’s not just Valencia, Ribery is overrated and Benzema also has a desire to play in Spain. We’ll end up with another crew of lightweights that are not Utd class players.

  245. Paul the red says:

would love to see rossi back

  246. kshetrajna says:

    @ costas..
this is really not a disappointment …not at 80 million pounds :D

  247. RedAlert260599 says:

    Joero,
you ARE havin a larf aren’t you? Robben? Not a fkn chance son!
He’s the prick that said “United are finished” when he joined the Rentboys.
He’ll never play for us, never!
And, in your out column you’ve got “Tevez 25m”. United don’t own him. That’s not our money.

  248. Drabik says:

Messi has won all he can at Barca… Maybe he should try a new challenge (this is a tongue in cheek comment)

  249. wazza says:

@Costas : Scott might be finding it difficult to get the right answer. not sure he keeps a record of this stats. but i am expecting it to break the record whatever was there before.
    @Scott : what’s the highest ?

  250. gazmask says:

anyone fancy a cheeky bid for tim cahill?
i think he’d thrive in a utd shirt

  251. Jessie says:

    good riddance.

am i the only one who likes valencia? he’s a hard man, good crosser, a tackler: what a winger is supposed to be. i think he would do well with the amazing strikers we have.

and people on here wondering if fergie gave the go-ahead for this deal are insane: OF COURSE HE DID. you think they would sell without fergie’s permission? come on

  252. trevor says:

I think rooney is now going to shine! I think he has been overshaddowed by ronaldo the past couple of years and in a sense was relying on ronaldo!

I think now rooney will realise that he is the shining light of our club with a player who has sublime tallent and just needs the confidence to realise how good he is! This will bring consistancy to his game and also live up to peoples expectations!

Rooney also needs to sacrafice his Work effort for the team and save some energy for the right areas of the pitch!

I dont know if i would still go for tevez fair enough he gives us great effort and work rate but a low return on goals! I feel we need a goal getter someone getting at least 20 a season.

I also am interested in seeing how berbatov does next year! It will be make or break although he needs confidence also and next season he will be more relaxed! (if he could get that!) and will be making better decisions!

  253. kshetrajna says:

100 million!!!Whoa we can buy Newcastle for so much money and transfer their entire squad to us for free!!! :D

  254. Its in my blood says:

Still no news from United regarding if todays events have had SAF’s blessing.
I know it seems inconceivable that it hasn’t, but we need to hear it.

  255. haha says:

Good find re the posts Costas.
Been thinking of the future signings, lots of names from Madrid being mentioned. I can’t see us buying anyone from Madrid or at least don’t see them being first choice targets as it would of made sense to include them in the Ronaldo deal rather than go back at a later date. We would of had more control on the players value if they came in a cash plus swap. One for the future could be James McCarthy from Hamilton, we could stick him out on loan in the championship. Everytime I see him play he looks outstanding. Here is my list of targets Valencia, Eto’o, Cahill, J McCarthy, Silva, Sahko, and that Russian keeper whose name I can’t spell.

  256. trevor says:

Peopel say 80 mil is great and good business but lets face it. Ronaldo is irreplaceable to be honest! Messi would be the only other contender there is no other at ronaldo’s level!

Anyhow it doesnt mean we cant move on! No player is bigger than a team!

  257. corea says:

    @ AlphaRS

i don’t care. all i care is our team, mate. don’t you agree with me ?
where all of this new people came from ? the time when they can invent all this stupid ideas came and here we are.
i haven’t seen half of this people here on the regular basis.

  258. ae80 says:

hopefully the money will be spend wisely to buy new quality first team players..anyway, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES RONALDO!!

  259. haha says:

gazmask – I’ve been saying Cahill all morning. Hope we move for him

  260. Wakey says:

    @RedAlert260599

I think the £25mill for Tevez on his list is the £25 mill that will have been budgeted to be used to buy him and that might now be able to be used on someone else.

I wouldn’t want Robben either BTW. I’m not a great fan of players like him, he has great pace and is direct but he is like Walcot. If you plan for this direct style and nullify it theres no plan B. Wingers need more in their pocket imho which is what I believe made Giggs the player he is and what makes the likes of Ronaldo such a great player. They have a unpredictability about them

  261. Costas says:

Cahill?Good choice for a goalscoring midfielder i say.

  262. joero says:

    @RedAlert260599

Yes, i’m aware we don’t own Tevez, but it represents the 25million we would save by not signing him.

As for Robben, yes, controversial. But fergie tried to bring him to United before he went to Chelsea. I’d much prefer to see David Silva, but physically, i’m not sure if he is up to standard for the EPL.

  263. AlphaRS says:

    @Corea

I agree with what you are saying that the integrity of the club was being questioned and NOBODY is bigger than Manchester United. It is a bad career move but if he wants to leave then let him.

    In Fergie we TRUST.

I think this thread will set a new record actually!
I haven’t seen alot of these people on here on a regular basis but it don’t matter. Scott must be loving it!

  264. Macheda is GOD says:

    wanker

  265. corea says:

Yes, if Scott is happy (i lnow he is happy because this is his or one of his sourses for living) we are all happy!

  266. wazza says:

we need to get Ashley Young, Aguero and a couple of other quality ones.

  267. Costas says:

Ashley Young.Good call wazza. It’s amazing how many names one can forget to mention.

  268. Macheda is GOD says:

@joero on my fifa09 news bulletins it said cahill ain’t going

Ronaldo knows he was loved at OT.
he is sellfish and gets his emotions first.
Ronaldo scored all those goals in 07/08 to get madrids attention.

  269. Macheda is GOD says:

    wazza
you heard that on sky :3

  270. bchilds says:

Good bit of business in my POV, £80million is a huge sum of money. It will be a pleasure once again to watch United next season and, for a while, without being embarrassed about one of our players through ANOTHER hissy fit.

  271. Melvinho7 says:

Robben? No chance !!! That idiot came to Carrington but then decided to be Chel$ki’s rentboy !!! Got no time for him.

    Out :

    Nani
    Ronnie
    Campbell
    Tevez

    In :

    Benzema
    Silva
    Villa
    Toulalan

Personally I would love Fergie to bid 100million for Messi !! But we can only dream

  272. Stephen says:

No more Argies please, we need to dip our rods into different ponds, players that know the club and the premiership and our rain.

  273. corea says:

    Defence :
RB – Brown, Oshea, Rafael, Simpson
CB – Rio, Evans, Vida, Cathcart, C. Evans, Brown, Oshea, Dodo ?
    LB – Evra, Fabio, Oshea

Why the hell we need defenders ? Why sell Simmy ?

We need a winger, why not Valencia ? Wigan have to sell because in a year’s time he will go for cheap. Real are out of the race. He is strong, pretty fast, tough. He is not a cheater. He is a proven player in the premiership.

Atackers – Rooney, Berba, Wellbeck, Campbell, Macheda.

Do it like in 06. Sigh 1-2 players and we’ll move on.
    Valencia and striker/midfielder.

  274. joero says:

    @ wazza

    Aguero is a cracking shout.

All of a sudden, i’m really excited about potential players we could sign. I’m sure now we will be seeing 3 maybe 4 players arriving.

  275. corea says:

    @ Costas

we are not Real Madrid. If Ashlee Young wants to swap clubs then YES.

  276. wazza says:

@Macheda is GOD : in Fifa09 any player transfers for loads of cash even Messi.
we don’t have Sky Sports in India, lol

  277. corea says:

    Aguerro ? Bullshit!
He is close to Maradona and Tevez already told everything he wanted to know about the bad people we have at the club starting with Fergie!
I can’t believe Fergie phoned him. But he is honest and that’s important.
    Fuck off Tevez!

  278. RedHarry4Life says:

Fucking gutted. At this moment United are not a better team without CR7 in it. CR7 will make those cunts 100s of millions over the next 5 years in shirts sales etc just like Beckham, making the 80 million seems well spent. Before we sold them Becks they were always in their rightful place in world football – behind United looking up. They got becks for money reasons and earned more than we did. Why we couldn’t keepo hium sweet and earn those 100s millions ourselves?

When Madrid don’t win things next year and their wonderfiul fans start booing/barracking Ronnie. Then we will see how he enjoys his dream. Players like Evra, Vidic, Da Salivas, Anderson, ?Berbatov etc Players we maybe looking at to bring in will be saying to themselves why go there they are a far poorer team now, less chance of winning CL EPL etc

Who do we get to replace CR7? Valencia is not that great, hes at best good. Will he be a top 10 world player – I don’t think so. Who will be scoring the goals next year? Tevez will be gone as well, hes got to be a real pain in the ass. Scored 4 league goals played more games than Rooney – but is disrespected – bullshit. Wonderful work rate but realivity shite in front of goal.

  279. joero says:

I Hope we don’t go for Ribery. We will blow almost the entire 80million if we do.

    Heres another alternative:

    IN:
    Benzema
    Santa Cruz
    Valencia
    David Silva

  280. kshetrajna says:

Aguero would be my prime target if we are looking for strikers…Though Villa wouldnt be bad either

  281. roon=heart says:

if ronaldo got a bit of luck he would have scored 2 in the first 10 minutes of the champions league final, and all utd fans would have called him God. He is a class act but does not want to stay at Man U, and it is good for world football to set up two Spanish powerhouses. plus 80 mil!! lets not lose perspective on how much that is, twice the amount of Zidane in 2001.

Buy players with heart and balls, and ship out the mercenaries.

in; Tevez, A young, g johnson
    out; Ronaldo, Nani, Berbatov

fergie knows whats on, kiko on the wing and rooney for ballon d’or 2010

  282. Macheda is GOD says:

ashley young always fucks me up in freekicks O.O in 09.

  283. John says:

Any world class player we go for the price is going to be way over the top, we are looking at over 40 million, I wouldn mind a few of the barca boys but that wont happen

  284. gazmask says:

£80 mil hopefully to be spent on players
    heres my shopping list….
    starting at the back

    rb..GLEN JOHNSON 7-8 MIL
    cm..TIM CAHILL 10-15 MIL
    rw.. FRANK RIBERY 40-45 MIL

cm.. JOAO MOUTINHO SWAP LOAN FOR NANI.

    TEAM FOR NEXT SEASON

    VDS/FOSTER
    R.DA SILVA/JOHNSON. RIO/EVANS. VIDIC. EVRA/F DA SILVA.
    HARGREAVES/ANDERSON. CARRICK/MOUTINHO.
    NANI/CAHILL RIBERY
    BERBATOV/ROONEY VILLA

    thoughts?

  285. E nuff Said says:

Goodbye Cristiano. Who can deny him wanting to swap a dreary provincial City for the Stylish Capital of Spain.

Like a dying fire it flares for a last time before going out. The same as Man Us fortunes.

Man U when push comes to shove are a selling club with gigantic debts.

    The futures looking good!!!!

  286. Wakey says:

I like Ashley Young but there is no way we can buy him.

    1) He is English so add some money onto his value
    2) He is at an English Club so add more money on
    3) He is at a club that has shown they will play hard ball so add on more millions
    4) We are United so United Tax gets added so more millions
    5) Everyone knows we have £80mill now so further millions

When Ramos wanted to take him to Real in December they were talking about 27mill what on earth would it cost to actually get him

  287. haha says:

Just read Real Madrid will be training in Ireland over the summer. Anybody with some time on their hands should go and give Heinze the Judas an ear full of abuse.

  288. haha says:

Gazmask – you forgot about wes brown. But ya I’d be delighted with those signings except I don’t think Ribery is worth the value Bayern have given him.

  289. kshetrajna says:

Ribery is going to be hard to sign…Bayern are going to want atleast 50 million and that is way too much on any player

  290. joero says:

    @ Wakey

Your right about Ashley Cole, he will cost us in the region of 35 million I reckon.

    @ gazmask

Glen Johnson – We don’t need any more right backs, the 7-8million (& then some) could be spent elsewhere.

Cahill – Fair enough, he has a proven record in EPL & around 10M seems on the money.

Ribery – We will have to may over 65Million, stupidly overpriced.

Villa – Yep 30-40m is about right, quality striker & we all know Valencia need to sell.

  291. Wakey says:

@gazmask Some of those figures seem really low

Johnson is being linked with a 17mill move to Chelsea or Liverpool (although Liverpool are probally out of the running now). Remember hes English so inflated prices

Bids for over £60mill have supposedly been turned down already from Real and supposedly us and Bayern say he isn’t going anyway so no way will we get him for £40mill

Cahill for 15mill, he is pretty integral to Evertons teams and seems pretty loyal so add some millions onto that

Villas valuation may be realistic but thats about it

And lets be honest here alot of the player we might go for are also wanted by Money Bag clubs like Real, Chelsea and City which pushes the fees up further

  292. corea says:

Oh cmon! We sell Ronaldo for 80 mln and now we are the monsters and can terrorize every fucking small team in the country ?

    VDS/Foster

    Brown/Rafael Rio/Evans Vida/Oshea Fabio/Evra

    Valencia/Nani Hargo Carrick Park

    Rooney/Wellbeck Berba/Macheda

If we sell Campbell we need one striker.

Don’t sign Ribery sign Iuri Jirkov from CSKA Moscow. A Chelsea target.
20 mln and he is ours.

  293. Drabik says:

joero, i assume you didnt mean ashley cole.

    I want schweinsteiger :P

  294. John says:

    haha
“Just read Real Madrid will be training in Ireland over the summer”

Where did you read that ….

  295. gazmask says:

    @haha
I did actually forget wes im ashamed to say. he’s been out for that long but him and hargreaves(fingers crossed) will be like two new signings. no nonsense footballers.
prime objective is to sign somebody not to replace ronaldo but to replace his goals. in my opinion there isnt anyone that i know of that could replace ronaldo but there are plaenty of players that could potentially score the amount of goals he did so although its a bit daunting at the minute i think once we sit back and look at the money we got for him and then bring in a villa/benzema type striker things wont be so bad.

  296. anderson8 says:

I hope the deal to bring in his replacement is close to being completed. The last thing we need now is to spend all summer chasing someone and signing them after the season starts. Get him sold and get our business done asap so our new signings get a full pre season with us. Ashley young or David Silva would be my target ahead of Valencia.

I appreciate what Ronaldo has done for us on the pitch but he was never someone I’d call a favourite of mine. Let the Madrid circus begin again!

  297. joero says:

    @ Drabik

Hahaha. Yes, i mean Ashley YOUNG.

I think i would die if we signed Ashley Cole.

  298. Its in my blood says:

Still no word on whether SAF gave this sale his blessing. We need to know!
In fact, comments by Paddy Crerand suggest he may not have agreed! Bombshell if thats the case.

  299. haha says:

anderson8 – Silva would be more of a gamble than Valencia at least we know Valencia can handle the physical nature of the league. I’d love to get Villa but I can see him being the next Madrid signing. Benzema is more realistic but I don’t really want him.

  300. Radio Deadon says:

    Let’s get Benzema.
Benzema and Rooney up front – that’ll scare the fuck out of any defence.

Whoever we get it’s probably done and dusted and just waiting for Ronnie to actually sign for Madrid before we announce it. If it isn’t done and dusted then whoever we go for the price will be doubled now everyone knows we’re picking up £80 million for Ronny.

Good luck to Ron but he’ll eventually reget going to those donkeys. They need 10 new players (Casillas the goalie is class) not just Kaka and Ron plus one other. Barca will win La Liga again next year and the Real fans will get pissed off with the new Galacticos.

  301. roon=heart says:

ha ha hope ronaldo enjoys the irish summer! gutted ,he thought he got away from the rain!spend 60 in ribery, closest we’ll get to anyone like messi.remeber this is not pro evo and we’ve got to get players that are world class.
Barca made us look mugs as they were technically and tactically better on the ball. if we’re the biggest club in the world, why not break the world transfer record ourselves, £100 mil for messi would only actually cost the glazers 20.
WE havw to compete or it will be a spanish champions league final for the next 5 years

  302. kshetrajna says:

exactly if SAF has not agreed then i fear the worst :(

  303. trevor says:

One of the main reasons fergie buys british or players that have played in the premier league is that they want to be here!

Fergie Spent17 mil on Carrick – He will be willing to be at united until mid 30′s if he is good enough!

Liverpool have mascarano – Who wants to go to barca!

Thats the trouble with some forgeien players they have other clubs that are closer to their hearts! Ronaldo is from Portugal right next to Spain who has grown up following and dreaming of Real! So obviously he wants to go there at some point in his carrer!

Valencia for me is a good option and so is robben – Both tried and tested in the premiership and both effective! I think valencia will shine more as he now will be with a team that can permit him to use more his attacking skills!

  304. RedHarry4Life says:

Good Business by United – shite.

Now any player we go in for will have a extra £10 million added to their true price. With Kaka and CR7 transfers this summer any player that was going for £20 £25 million will now be going to be valued at £40 -£45. That £80 million ain’t going to go far. Maybe 1 or 2 new recognised players. Everton would be asking for £25 million for Cahill which is way too much and hes now injury prone and not worth that amount

The £80 million won’t be up front, those cunts pay Europen transfer fees over the duration of the signed players contract, so if CR7 signs a 6 year contract then it will be paid over 6 years. Anyone remember the Jaap Stam fiasco with Nazio?

  305. haha says:

trevor – I was saying earlier that I doubt any Madrid players will be coming our way. If they had been surely they would of included them in the Ronaldo deal.

  306. trevor says:

My main worryis that we are doing this the wrong way round.

I would rather have said to real, Yes you have a deal but only if it is kept secret until 15th July 2009

In that time i would have went guns blazing to sign ribbery / benzema / Valencia + maybe have robben as a sweatener for free!

Now what is going to happen is that instead of paying 40 mil on ribbery he now will cost 60

Instead of paying 30 for benzima we now pay 40

    Thats all our kitty gone!
Just makes it harder for us now not paying over the odds!

  307. gazmask says:

    @wakey
i definatly wouldnt pay over 40-45mil for ribery, anything over that is rediculous.
glen johnson i suppose could go for a bout 12-15 when you add on the fact he’s english
cahill i reckon could be persuaded to come to us although i know what you’re saying about be loyal but any footballer with big ambition will want to better themselves.. rooney loyal evertonian to man utd.
villa i think would be the one i want most. we let torres slip through the net to the dark side and he would have without question been amazing at O.T.
moutinho is a player with great technical ability and united have been watching him for a while so that also would be a good addition to our midfield

  308. trevor says:

haha – Yeah good point. But i see robben as a step up fron nani – Nani can improve but with giggs getting another year older i dont think we can rely on him next season as much as last!

  309. trevor says:

    gazmask@ glen johnson!

Id snap at that! He looked quality last year!

  310. haha says:

SkyNews are having a live Ronaldo web chat if anyone wants to get involved

  311. Zalee says:

Why are Manchester Utd fan sad about losing C.Ronaldo? He always say he want to go.Manchester Utd never put him up for sale & always defend him in matter of worse. When the time Manchester Utd sold Beckham to Real Madrid, all the fan wondering who will be wearing the number 7 shirt & then came C.Ronaldo. Are you a fan of C.Ronaldo or Manchester Utd? If you love him so much why don’t you go to Madrid with him. And for those, who doesn’t support Manchester Utd, you better shut your bloody mouth & start worrying about your own club. The question is now, who will be the next No.7? AL7 maybe.

  312. Stephen says:

Trev, We can rely in Robben, what to stay fit?

  313. haha says:

Just read that Cahill is 29. Doesn’t really fit the age bracket for a Fergie purchase. I’d still like to have him.

  314. trevor says:

Stephen Fair Point althoguh im thinking on players who are going to perform on the pitch. I dont know how robbens fitness was last season but he didnt miss to much while at chelsky!

  315. King George the Switzer says:

Look at how Rooney plays for England. If he ever starts a game on the left again after this, I will bin my season ticket.

  316. Melvinho7 says:

    @ Trevor

I would pay 40 million for Benzema :) He is that good !!!

  317. roon=heart says:

cahill has balls but is not world class, barca had 3 players in the fifa top 10. calibre cost money, targets are not to win the league they are to be the best team in world. too much banked on anderson and Nani, but SAF always has a plan, look forward to the next few weeks

  318. Cal90 says:

been a great player but would rather take the £80mil now than have a player who thinks he is bigger than Manchester United. Now to seal Ribery and Tevez!

  319. trevor says:

    @Melvinho7

The point i am getting at is whatever we would have paid prior to this transfer taking place add 10-15 mil onto!

I like Benzima is quality id pay 40 mil for him. Id rather have him to tevez! For me tevez is far to simular to rooney! And not as effective as benzema rooney / benzema tevez.

  320. KJ says:

I dont want to burst anyone’s Villa-Bubble, but Madrid have agreed a fee with him for 32M

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2009/06/09/1314427/real-madrid-agree-fee-with-valencia-for-david-villa-report

  321. Stephen says:

Trev, Robben missed loads of games at Chelsea due to injury?!

  322. trevor says:

Cahill – At 29 no way in hell fergie would go for him!

Uniteds transfer policy is to spend big on Young Players with tallent!

You get time served and a sell on if it doesnt work out!

Look at uniteds top transfers! – Ferdinand, Rooney, We are going to get 10 years plus out of each! Good value for money if you ask me!

  323. trevor says:

    @ Stephen,

    Didnt remember that.

  324. Chris20LEGEND says:

How come theres nothing coming from the real madrid camp about this? there website has nothing on it and sky who are more than convinced hes gone havnt talked to one person linked to real madrid? gas aint it, all this talk about them signing him and when they do theres not a peep out of them!

  325. Wakey says:

    @gazmask

I agree on Ribery. I wouldn’t pay more than £40-45mill but if a club wants to play hard ball and doesn’t have to sell you aren’t going to get a Bargin

Pompey aren’t going to accept 12-15mill if Chelsea are going to pay 17mill

The things with Cahill he has had the chance to move before to arguable better clubs for more money and choose to extend his Everton Contract instead. He seems to have a bond with Moyes and I think Everton would play hard ball on the fee so it would come down to how much Everton need the money and how much they want to try and break into the top4. I do think if Valencia is going to cost over 17mill then Everton would ask for atleast 20mill for Cahill (Although they owe us for all the good deals we have done them on our players)

  326. trevor says:

Well lads my work break is over!! I will now have to try and concentrate on work and resist phoneing fergie to ask what his plans are!!! hahaha

Will pick up on this thread laters!! Im sure its going to set a post record!

  327. trevor says:

@Chris20LEGEND – Maybe they are sworn to secrecy as part of the deal goign through!!……. Would sound right to me!

  328. joero says:

    @ KJ

Goals source is Marca, so I wouldn’t necessarily believe it as accurate. If I was Valencia, I would be welcoming bids from other european clubs. The last place they would want Villa to end up is in Spain playing for a Rival.

By the way, how confusing is it having Valencia the team & Valencia the player as well as Villa & Aston Villa!

  329. Wakey says:

    @King George the Switzer

Remember though there is three major points to Rooneys England performances

    1) Awful opponents
    2) England have some tall traditional English centre forwards to allow Rooney to play where he wants to. We don’t really have a player like that.
    3) It helps to look good when you play in a team where most of the other players look a shadow of themselves when they pull on the Shirt. Gerrard and Lampard for Example go from looking world class for their club to looking Mid Prem players most of the time when they put on the England shirt.

  330. Altonian says:

Finally the day I’ve been waiting for has come, so happy we’ve decided to do it now and make a massive profit. He’s contributed a lot in the last 3 years but to sum it up his attitude is shit, both on and off the pitch.

It really wouldn’t suprise me if Kaka outshines Ronaldo at Madrid, after all it’s proven that Kaka can perform against top teams. Ronaldo has been very hit and miss in the past, a perfect example being the Champions League final.

Fairly certain we’ll end up buying 2, 3 or maybe even 4 players, spending a majority of the Ronaldo fee. I really hope we let Tevez go; spending £25m on a backup player is not good business. Ideally, I’d love to see either Benzema or Aguero as his replacement.

Central midfield could be a problem, I think Carrick does a great job and in the future Anderson will I just don’t think he’s quite ready. We need a top attacking midfielder, a Lampard, an Inniesta, someone who can drive forward with the ball and get 10+ goals a season. I think Carrick has the potential but currently he’s too defensive. In relation to this I think Hardgreaves will be great asset to the team once he’s fit again (and providing he can remain injury free). The idea of getting rid of Nani in exchange for Moutinho sounds pretty good to me, it wouldn’t surprise me if it did but I don’t think it will. I think he’ll be given one more season to prove himself, with Ronaldo gone this will be the perfect opportunity for him to show his worth, if he doesn’t he’ll be sold.

Lastly, a Ronaldo replacement, Valencia sounds good to me providing we buy a top notch winger for the left. Ribery would be ideal providing we don’t have to pay an extortionate amount.

At first this will appear to make us weaker, but eventually it’ll be regarded as another excellent decision by SAF.

  331. Smudger says:

He came in as an 18 year old kid in 2003 and only a few people had heard about him. He had the task of replacing the super star David Beckham. He was given the most prestigious No -7 shirt worn by former United legends like George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham. He set Old Trafford on fire when he came on as a substitute against Bolton with his trickery. Many United haters ridiculed him as just a ‘Show- Boater’, a one trick pony they said. He scored his first big game goal against Milwall in the 2004 FA Cup final. He also silenced the Gooners in February 2005 when he scored 2 goals at Highbury and United beat Arsenal 2-4!
The title went to Highbury in 2004 and Stamford Bridge in the year 2005 and 2006. United sold their top scorer Ruud Van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid. They said United are over and Ronaldo an over rated player. Then came the Rooney – Ronaldo feud in the 2006 world cup. Everyone except the United fans jeered Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s answer? Scoring 23 goals in all competitions. United won their first title in 3 years.
Enter 2007-08 he took the world by storm by scoring 42 goals in 49 appearances. He leaped above John Terry and co in Moscow and helped United win the UEFA Champions league. United again won the English league. He finally got the recognition he deserved and was crowned the best player in the world.
In the year 2008-09 people said United have peaked and won’t win anything. United won the English league for the third time in a row, The Carling Cup and the FIFA World Club Championships. They said Ronaldo had a bad season; well he scored 26 goals in all competitions. News has just come in that United have just accepted an 80 million pound bid for Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Thank you for all the goals and pleasure that came along Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro! It was a pleasure having you at the Biggest Club in the world for 6 years.

PS: Manchester United have released and sold some big players like Mark Hughes, Paul Ince, David Beckham, Jaap Stam, Roy Keane in the past. What were the recuperations? United went on win many titles and trophies. I am also glad that glory hunters that started supporting United because of Ronaldo would no longer support us. Go support Chelsea, Go support Madrid you morons!
To all the United haters out there these are a few lines from the King of Old Trafford Eric Cantona
“United is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
They have been winning, are winning and will continue to win things generation after generation. They will always win whoever they have playing for them.” – King Eric

    GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED!!

    - Sameer Hande

  332. haruglory_911 says:

thanks for your controversies, goals and trophies and money you give us. Now for 80 mil pound. Get a two 30 mil player and one 20 mil player… Get Villa for striker and maybe we can include Sneijder and Robben in Ronnie’s deal. That way we can save some money for another transfer…

  333. Costas says:

I am sorry, but any Real Madrid player feels like sloppy seconds.Besides Sneijder is a poor man’s Beckham and Rooben is injury prone. United have not lost the Premiership by selling Ronaldo. They will lose it if they don’t use the 80mil properly.

  334. Duncan says:

Firstly, thank you so much for all the goals and entertainment Ronaldo, for this you will be well remembered.

Secondly, good luck but my guess is it’s down hill here for you now. COngratulations on realising your dream, not many people can do that.

  335. Marq says:

Somehow… I actually feel more disappointed that Real got Kaka rather this piece of news, goes to show how much I think about this. Relieve is the word I believe. Now, it is Rooney’s time to take centre stage, bring on Real next season!

  336. ROJO RED ROT ROUGE says:

    Valencia – 12 million
    Benzema – 30 million
    Gattuso – 14 million
    Tevez – 25 million

    Sorted !

  337. gingerprince says:

God Where was I ?When was this deal completed? Although Not Surprised Was bound to happen after all.

  338. trevor says:

    @ Smudger

You are saying we have sold players of this caliber before – Mark Hughes, Paul Ince, David Beckham, Jaap Stam, Roy Keane

    you must be joking!!!

Mark Hughes – Close to the end of his carrer- Not the same as loosing ronaldo!
Roy Keane – One Season before his retirment!
David Beckham – Past his peak!
Ince – Not the same player or league / we had cover in reserves
Jaap Stam- A mistake! But not the same as ronaldo going

Lets face it! Ronaldo is the best player on the planet on his day! But one player does not make a team! With the right replacements we might improve as a team!

  339. TK99 says:

Absolutely gutted to see him leave…..looks like i’m the only one who believe that,in order to win C.L you need to have players like Ronaldo, kaka and messi..very dissapointed and cant put it into words..
    Good bye Ronaldo.

  340. trevor says:

    @ ROJO RED ROT ROUGE

    Valencia – 12 million
    Benzema – 30 million
    Gattuso – 14 million
    Tevez – 25 million

    Sorted !

How you going to fit Benzema, Rooney, Berbatov & Tevez into a starting 11!
How you going to convince Tevez to stay after signing Benzema – Top 2 of that lot would be Benzema & Rooney with Berbatov / Tevez on the bench!

Our of that 4 who would be able to play on the wing? Erm rooney..Whom i dont want on the wing! He needs to fulfil his potential and play up front!

Also note that them prices were before we had sold ronaldo and the whole world knew we had 100mil transfer kitty!
With the ecception of tevez add about 10 mil a player onto your values and that would be closer!

Why we have not signed replacements prior to it being announced is beyond me!

  341. jespermoses says:

To be honest I expected this to happen so its not a surprise.Whilst i’m gutted at the affect it may have on the team i’m not that gutted about the actual person (cristiano Ronaldo CR7) leaving.

His attitude has been pretty bad since last year and I don’t think United really had much choice in selling him.He was probably crying in SAFs ear evry day about going to Madrid and he Fergie probably had had enough.

As regards to him being a legend at United I think he has to go down as that because of the sheer impact he had on the team over the past 3 years or so.
He has improved so much under SAF and I think he will realise when he finishes his carear that he was the most influential person in his carear.

I’m not sure who to bring in but ribery and Benzema would be a decent starting point.

I’m just waiting for the ABU backlash saying ‘we’re finished as a team’ can’t wait to prove them wrong again.

  342. Costas says:

@Trevor: If we had done that, then Real would have taken note of our desperation to sell Ronaldo and wouldn’t have offered so much money. Exactly what we are doing with Wigan for Valencia. We know that they are desperate to sell and we are offering less. It’s a double edged sword.

  343. haha says:

Trevor – Gattuso is nowhere near good enough for United anymore and at 31 he is well in decline. If we offered 14mil Milan would bite our hand off!

  344. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

Great move for United, it makes business and footballing sense (as long as its all reinvested in the squad).
Lets regroup, rebuild, and move on.

  345. haha says:

Can anybody calculate our net spend after the sale of Ronaldo? It’d be a nice one to rub in the scousers face.

  346. afromanc says:

“If a soldier leaves his regiment to join the enemy, he becomes the enemy.”

Thank you for you amazing contributions to this clubs history ronnie, but this is war…

  347. Al says:

    Farewell Ronnie!

You gave us some great quotes along the way – “When you’re surrounded by flowers, you breathe better”

    http://www.heavensports.com/football/ronaldo/

  348. eric belfast says:

    BEST BECKHAM NOW RONALDO…
why do great players not get it united is the biggest club in the world

take alook at CANTONA retired at the top
and is now a legend… fuck ronaldo NO player is better than the club

  349. RedCanuck says:

Rooney and Berba and both going to have monster years. Rooney for Fifa player of the year. And Anderson scores 20…

  350. trevor says:

    @Costas

I think the deal was already pre set from last summer! Hence why real shut up about it and ronaldo didnt mention any more that he wanted to go!

  351. wazza says:

we don’t need the ageing players at United like the Gattuso’s and Cahill’s.
and we don’t need the selfish prick Tevez. we need to act swiftly to get the replacements otherwise they are all gone to Real and Chelsea.

  352. haha says:

Wazza – I agree, I thought Cahill was younger when I was calling for him. I’d still like him in the side but not for the money it’ll take. Villa wont come to England, not if Real or Barca go looking for him. I’d love if we made a move for Taison from Inter in Brazil, he’s the real deal.

  353. Ozzy says:

remember this name.. ‘Adem Ljajic’!!! his the ideal replacement.

  354. corea says:

It’s a shame that now we could have had an already made replacement in Nani, an already made replacement for Scholesy in Ando.
I don’t know but if SAF knew everything about the Ronaldo issue he must have thought about the way of dealing with all these. If he didn’t play Nani and opted to stick with Ronaldo to win trophies that means Nani is not on his agenda ?
Many questions but we’ll buy and that’s for sure.

  355. Nemanja says:

United have obviously got the replacements ready. One is Valencia (fantastic signing) and the odds of us getting Ribery are very short so it could be him. I hope so.

  356. AlphaRS says:

    @gazmask

    Unlikely! Hehehe.

  357. corea says:

Summer 2007. Nani 16 mln, Ando 16 mln, Hargo 17 mln, Tevez 9 mln on loan for 2 years.

    Oh my God! :(
Nani nowhere near Ronaldo, Ando we’ll see but could we rely on him ?
    Hargo injuries and injuries.
    Tevez a twat.

But it brought us a double anyway.

  358. AlphaRS says:

    @Corea

The United midfield has lacked creativity for a long time.

Ando needs to play on the left where he played at Gremio and Porto.
Nani on the right or Valencia. United lack that bit of flair in midfield.

  359. James says:

if we buy well, i think we will be ok next season. and when i say ok i mean winning the league and challenging for the champions league again. However, now the whole of europe knows we have £80 million to spend, they will demand more money. Ribery won’t leave for less than £40million and probably won’t want to play in england anyway. And all the players in Spain who are potential targets; Villa, Eto’o, Silva etc might prefer to stay in Spain. I just hope we don’t do what we did in 2003, not replacing the quality with quality. We need to bring in a winger or two.

  360. Little Miss says:

Bye Slave… you are Slave no more!

  361. AlphaRS says:

I actually think Ronaldo has been carrying this team for quite a while….

  362. trevor says:

    @AlphaRS

I do however think ronaldo has been holding back rooneys potential as rooney was reliant on him. Now Rooney will become better!

Not to sure if reliant is the correct word maybe overshadowed! But i guess you know what i mean!

  363. gazmask says:

looking forward to being linked with all sorts of different players over the summer now.. should be interesting. with cahills name being thrown around how about arteta?
creative midfielder with a trick and a good free kick. granted he isnt as good as ronaldo but then who is? messi thats it but he wont be sold

  364. AlphaRS says:

    @Trevor

I don’t think Rooney has quite lived up to what we expected of his potential yet. And I guess you are right that Rooney has been playing out of position. Perhaps if SAF puts him behind a front man – which at the moment we do not have – then he will come good. I was actually hoping for Benzema.

I just thought this team had the potential to win so much over the next 5 years and now Ronaldo is about to leave suddenly things don’t seem too promising. He was really the only World Class player we had in the team.
Right now we have become weaker as a team and our rivals have become stronger.

  365. King George the Switzer says:

AlphaRS: Who the fck are you and what are you on about? Are you even a United fan?

  366. King George the Switzer says:

“the only world class player”??? You are an idiot.

  367. Manchester united forever says:

Finally the day has come that ronaldo leaves. It had to happen anyway. The point is we should not drool over this story for long and Should move on. We need some quality signings this summer. Most probably a striker, midfielder and a winger. As for striker i’d like to go for villa provided he does not go madrid or Aguero.my Midfielder would either be giovinco from juve or de rossi . Winger would be either silva or valencia. Also i’d like to have arteta in my side provided we play 4-3-1-2.

  368. AlphaRS says:

    @King George the Switzer

I’m a Manchester United season ticket holder. Who are you?!

And name calling is quite childish so….

If Manchester United have proper World Class players in the team then name them.

  369. Radio Deadon says:

Roanldo Tevez and Nani going…. I think we’ll buy like for like positionally. Two wingers and a forward. Valencia from Wigan seems a cert so its one other winger and a forward. We need goals next season as this was our lowest ever totalBenzema would be my preference as the forward with Huntelaar as second choice. That leaves a left sided player to fill in for Nani going. This wont happen but…. I’d stick Patrice Evra in the left midlfield position and play the other da silva twin at left back. Fuck spending 45-50 million on Ribery. Fergie has stated a few times this season that we have a very large squad so this way we reduce the numbers, save some money and give another one of the kids a run in the team. As I said though it’s not going to happen….

    VDS/Foster
    De silva/O’shea/Neville
    Rio/Evans
    Vidic
    De silva/O’shea
    Valencia
    Anderson
    Carrick
    Evra
    Rooney
    Berbatov/Benzema

    Giggs/Scholes/Hargreaves/Wes Brown/Macheda/Possebon/Welbeck

  370. Stephen says:

Rio, Vida, Evra and Rooney are world class.

  371. Eli Shares says:

    Goodbye Ronaldo
    Goodbye Ronaldo
    He Went to Real Madrid
    And see United WIN
    Goodbye Ronaldo

80 millions? I think he is worth more than that. 100 Mils?

  372. Balaji says:

It all seems a bit weird now. Going through a mixed bag of emotions since the news about the transfer came out. Sadness, Anger, Doubt, Numbness and Relief.
But in the end, Good luck to Ronnie. He served his purpose very well during these 6 years and of course the 80 mil makes it a little bit easier to forget.

The only questions Fergie and Co need to answer is ‘Why couldn’t they have been more forthright in their views with the supporters?’ and ‘Why oh Why are the replacements not in place when everyone knew this was going to happen?’

Well, we should be knowing the answers pretty soon!

  373. haruglory_911 says:

So now our main goalscorer is gone but we do have Rooney(if he back to his main position) and Berba(if he regain his form) . Therefore, we need somebody to supply a ball to this finishers. To get a player from Spain is unlikely because most of them prefer Real or Barca. Getting Ribery would be easier if bayern didn’t qualified for CL but still he’s the best candidate to wear United no 7. We do have money but we can waste it anymore because Anderson, Nani, Tosic and hargo each of them cost us 17 mil or more. So we need to give them a chance. Player like Nani and Ando need to be more hardworking like ronnie. When Ronnie 1st came here, he’s so damn skinny but he improves each year and always come out with new ability like scoring goals, freekicks and getting faster and faster. I think what Nani and Ando also need is a support from somebody like quieroz. He’s the man who can improve a prospect and influence SAF decision but he sucks as a manager though. So sign him back when portugal sack him (will happen in near time).

  374. haruglory_911 says:

hope United will meet Real in UCL next season. See if Ronnie can put one against us.

  375. joero says:

    @ AlphaRS

I think you have a point. It would not be unreasonable to say our performances have been below par this season because Ronaldo has been below par.

However, Ronaldo was not the only ‘World Class’ player. In there respective positions, Rio, Vidic, Evra & Rooney are World Class.

We are lacking in midfield. Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson, Hargreaves, Park etc are all very good players but not world class. In that sense, yes Ronaldo probably does make up for what could be decieved as a lack of creativeness. In the same way, Ronaldo makes up for our very obvious lack of a prolific, clinical, goalscorer.

  376. mickey mac says:

he was the only player united had that looked like he belonged on the same grass as the barca boys, if you think you can go forward with park j sungo fletcher, anderson, and the rest ,kid yourselves remember jemba jemba,,,,,,,hes a car park attendent now and always should have been, very very backward step ,only consistantly, class act you had. gigs is over ,rooney not good enough, berbi in and out ,tev ok at times. medioca at best. fergi couldnt do much about this, remember when united did somert he didnt like last time he went and bought that fucking keeper from italy.watch this space

  377. john ferry says:

I hope this means that in Sir Alex Ferguson’s mind ronaldo (we should re-name him “the name that will not be spoken”) is worse than a “virus.” I think Rooney is developing into a world class player.

  378. King George the Switzer says:

Alpha: It’s an emotional day and I apologise for my choice of words but I can not -CAN NOT- agree with you that we had ONE world class player. And I doubt anyone else on this forum would either. You can’t win the best and most competitive league championship in the world three times in a row having one wolrd class players and the rest being passengers. Stephen has named a number of our world class players and there’s a case to argue a few more might get on that list.

And for the record, I sit in the West Lower – I would be happy to discuss the current weaknesses in our squad with you over a plastic bottle of fizzy, over-priced cat’s pss (aka budweiser) when August comes around again

  379. King George the Switzer says:

On the condition that we cease with the negativity

  380. Football1st says:

I got a feeling Utd will make a massive bid £45m for Ribery. Thats why Madrid cooled their interest yesterday while in talks with Utd, Coincidence? Think Not. Dont think Bayen would turn down an offer that huge if its put on the table.

Also with all that cash available to SAF he will no doubt bid £35m plus for Benzema as hes been after him for a while and Aulas has said he is untransferable. It took them a while to part with Essien, Alulas was saying the same thing then in order to get the most money possible for him.

United’s official statement read “Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.”

Isnt that when Tevez’s deal runs out? Another coincidence? Maybe Tevez may stay after all? Who Knows?

  381. RedHarry4Life says:

Just been digestingt this news and thinking about it.

Now that we have a budget of say £100 (the 80 fromn CR7 and the 20 million we probab;y had this summer) How about this two transfers in?

They are both quality player proven in the EPL and they would really p;iss off all those other gloating fuckers.

£40 million for Cesepit from Arsenal

£60 million for Torres from the Heysel heros

  382. fze123 says:

A look back on his comments surrounding the rumours in the past few months…If he really was the one requesting his move again, then he is a total hypocrite.

  383. Jonny says:

Real will move for Fabregas next. And they could well get him.

  384. blindkat says:

Yeah he is probably right rooney and rio and player of the year nemanja and berba and player of the year giggsy and van der sar and wes and evra and … i hope sarcasm comes thru in writing. At the end of the day ronnie wanted to leave, he made it obvious he made his mom happy good for him but i still think we wil win more titles than he will with the sickness.

  385. SteRDLK says:

Thanks for the massive contribution, Cristiano, and all the best at Madrid. We’ve lost players in the past, we will lose players in the future.

    WE ARE UNITED. BELIEVE!

  386. Acho says:

Ronaldo has done a great job. Too bad he has to leave Man U, but let him go and show his skills somewhere else maybe he can help them win, Real has been going down.

We shall miss him in Man U but, Man U is gooad at forming great players, its still the BEST Team.

Farewell Ronaldo, I wish you all the best!

    Go Man U!

  387. Costas says:

Cherry i hope this is a joke.Take someone who flat out rejected us to become a rent boy?And with his injury record?HELL NO!I prefer Ashley Young.

  388. jcolas says:

Good news: SAF never gets much wrong, + 131 million dollars
Bad news: You might not when much of anything ronnie!
Well I guess that’s bad news for him, not us.

  389. jcolas says:

    win*

  390. Kings says:

Good to be a GOONAH!! – Thanks for your shit input you clown. At least he can leave in knowledge that he made absolute mincemeat out of Arsenal in their own backyard in a game where they foolishly thought they would win. Enjoy another season of winning fuck all you silly cunt.

  391. AlphaRS says:

@Joero and @King George the Switzer

Everybody has their point of view which ofcourse is fair enough.

The point I was trying to make is United have just weakended a team that have almost made it in Europe again this season and inadvertantly strengthened the position of our rivals. £80 million or not is that going to be enough for the trophies we may possibly miss out on next season? And is there any player in the worl dthat could replace him? I know that we can find somebody and build him up like we did Ronnie but we were almost there with this team. We could have potentially dominated Europe for 5 years with a few more signings but we have taken a step backwards.

I agree he was annoying and childish and petulant but he is one of the best players in the world. Which is probably why SAF put up with him so long. What annoyed me is the manner in which he left.

On the subject of world class players. Perhaps I was being harsh but I mean at the top top top level do we have World Class Players like say Barcelona. Who have Henry, Eto’o, Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta. Now Ronaldo was right up there. But for me Rooney hasn’t really become what the hype expected. Don’t get me wrong I have a United shirt with Rooney on the back because he is hard working and never says die. I love it. But has he lived up to expectations of being the absolute best?

Yes Rio Ferdinand and perhaps Evra can be considered World Class but who else? The midfield hasn’t really got enough goals in it and hasn’t had for a few years.

King George the Switzer I sit in the East Stand lower so it would be difficult to get to you in the game for a chat unless I ran across the pitch! Hehehe.

I am not being negative I am just trying to be a realist. United are now a weaker team. If we added Benzema and kept Ronnie we would have certainly been there or there abouts next season.

There are of course good points to the move. We don’t have to spend another Summer having to put up with the unsufferable will he won’t he business!

  392. AlphaRS says:

Looks like Platini has started already….

  393. Mahesh says:

    Arise NANI!

Maybe wishful thinking, but what the hell – what a story that would be, if Nani took this opportunity by the scruff of the neck…

By the way, our famous Number 7 shirt is once more up for grabs!!!

Am I glad I didn’t buy a Ronaldo shirt the season before last!

  394. United Ticket Agency says:

gutted he is leaving, although he was sulky at time we will find it hard to replace his goals and pace. Still Manchester United will march on, and hopefully Benzema will come in as some way to replace him.

  395. cherry says:

Costas, I agree on Robben but hold a different view on Young. I dont think young is the type of player we need right now. Much as I dont think it would happen, I would like us to sign one or two of the following players; Ribery, Silva, Benzema or Villa. We need a big player to calm us down

  396. Costas says:

We are a weaker team. And until Nani and Valencia fulfill half of Ronaldo’s potential, maybe we are better off switching to 4-3-1-2 using our strength:central midfielders. We just migth need a goalscoring MF.But for a while, our wing days might be over.

  397. Mahesh says:

You know what lads – he has been a great for the club while he was here…But something in me tells me that while I would be happy if he stayed, this might be a really really good thing…We’ve been superb both in England and Europe for the last 2 seasons – which petered out by the end of this season.

We seriously needed some freshness in the squad – and this deal allows for us to bring in 3-4 serious serious quality players…Its not that bad a price to pay for someone who would have eventually left anyways – and who was causing bad blood amongst fans and everyone else concerned with the club every now and then.

  398. Costas says:

Cherry you are right. The only possible replacements for Ronaldo are Ribery and Silva.Young is still a mystery, but i prefer him over Robben. As i sais above, if we don’t get Ribery maybe we should change our system.

  399. Mahesh says:

Costas – I am not sure if we will end up a ‘weaker team’ – time will tell. But yes we have certainly lost one BIG BIG player. How we replace him is an issue. Having said that, I don’t think our strength is central midfield honestly. I was actually thinking of it as a weak area for us. We have quality in there, but I am not sure we have world class quality, and definitely not world class depth.

  400. Costas says:

    @Mahesh:

You are right. After 3 years we did need something fresh. But looking at it from a different standpoint,United are losing 2 matchwinners this summer:Ronaldo and Tevez. We might bring in 2 very good players, but they won’t become matchwinners for us overnight. Not to mention that it will take them a while to figure out our style of play. This is not like 06 when we lost Ruud.We won’t build from the inside now,but from players coming in and that might take longer.I hope fans are prepared for a potential transitional period.

  401. Costas says:

I think we have a bigger depth at CM, that we have with wingers at the moment. On one side we have Fletch,Carrick,Hargo and Ando and on the other side we have Park and Nani.Scholes and Giggs can’t be depended too much on.

  402. clapadoodle says:

Manchester United winning the chapions League in Madrid….. Fucking PRICELESS
    ————————————————————————————————–
You no what would make that even more priceless?? If we beat Real Madrid in the final at the bernabeu to win the champions league lol!!!!!!

  403. AlphaRS says:

    @Costas

We have like 16 midfielders at OT. I don’t think any are world class.

  404. TonyBee says:

Ask Real for another tenner and fuck Nani off as well

  405. AlphaRS says:

    @TonyBee

Give Nani a sustained run in the team on the wing for one season and let’s judge him then. Give the guy a chance.

My fear is selling the guy for like £5 million and him becoming a great player at another club cos he didn’t get a chance at United. That would be bad bad business.

  406. Costas says:

Alpha for a 4-3-1-2,you don’t need wold class midfielders to play at midfield. You will need a world class midfielder to play behind the 2 strikers.

  407. AlphaRS says:

Costas sorry pal. Read your comment half way through.

  408. Costas says:

It’s ok Alpha.I thought of another name for right winger.Aaron Lennon anyone?Do we want him?

  409. Mahesh says:

Keep Nani – play him next season, let him prove himself. To be fair to him he hasn’t gotten the chance. The position he plays requires sustained appearances to see good performances – in most cases! I would still give him a go. He has got the raw talent in him and pace to burn, maybe Ronaldo leaving takes the pressure off him somewhat. Suddenly he doesn’t have someone on the pitch all the time against whom he will be assessed. You just never know.

Costas, I agree about the transitional period. Its going to depend on who we can buy – and its going to be touch to find someone to replace Ronaldo. Tevez, I think he is replaceable honestly especially for the kind of money we’re expected to pay for him. But we need to be prepared for a transitional period as you say.

Midfield – If Hargo was a sure shot, I would agree with you that we have a decent midfield – but I don’t think he’s going to feature too much next season, if ever! In which case, suddenly the midfield looks pretty shabby to me. I do think however the at SAF really needs to start exploiting Ando’s attacking/passing talent. He looks a bit short on confidence to me, and the best way to get him going would be to get him to play the attacking role. I hope to see that in the pre-season.

  410. corea says:

    @ Costas

Aaron Lennon came to my mind in the morning, mate.
Yes, i would have liked him here. Go for him definitely!
The problem that didn’t let us go for him is heading for Real.

  411. GodsloveUnitedsGlory says:

he plays on the left, he playssss on the riiiiiiight, that boy rooney makes ronaldo look shite!!!!!!!!! Victory in madrid will be fuckin priceless!

  412. Gay United Fans Org says:

He was such a nice boy! Those tanned thighs! ….Shame.

How about putting in a bid for Drogba he’s much more of
an upstanding fellow… more strapping too.!!!

  413. Ohhh_Ahhh says:

@ Gay United Fans Org…..2 word for you Yoann Gourcuff

  414. bashir says:

i hate C.Ronaldo for leaving United hate hate hate

  415. laxis says:

Ronaldo has been very instrumental in our victories but it’s much much a better choice letting him go than keeping him and having to deal with all his childish rantings. And we got £80 million too. I’ve seen many saying we need winger and striker, you’re right but we definitely need atleast two world class central midfielders, think about our CL final defeat.

  416. cantona7 says:

Goodbye and thank you for all the good memories you were part of here, Ronaldo.

Sorry that i cannot say “Good Luck” to you.

    Thank you.

  417. Dani says:

Good luck, Ronaldo. But I’m pissed we let him go.

Now, Let’s just buy Benzema, Fabregas and Valencia. We do need a hell of a winger, and I can’t see no one to be even close to Ronnie.
