March 23rd 2008 – Villa at home

Manchester United were cruising towards their second consecutive title and had just beat Liverpool 3-0. Ronaldo was flying, scoring seven goals in his past seven games.

We had a European Cup quarter-final to play in a few days and wanted to get the points in the bag against Villa ASAP.

Giggs took a corner with just over quarter of an hour played and the ball fell to Ronaldo. It was then I realised that 07-08 really was Ronaldo’s year. Everything he touched turned to gold – that could be the only way our first of four goals that day could be explained.
