Both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill have confirmed that Manchester United are not currently in talks for a central midfielder, although the chief exec claimed that there were three players we were looking at whose deals could be completed once we return from America.

Fergie’s bff, Bob Cass at The Daily Mail, has a quote from the manager which confirms that we have approached the player.

“If he wants to come he must accept our contract offer. If not, we have other options in mind. We’re done talking.”

Sneijder was in Dublin today with Inter Milan and some fans there claim that as he was getting on the bus he put his thumb up when asked was he joining United.

Update
Following the victory over Barcelona, Ferguson referred to the comments supposedly made by him as “nonsense”. This could well be because they are nonsense. Or it could be because the whole thing has been set up by the manager or that, most likely, Cass confused an off the record remark with something he could write about.
