Fergie And Agent Agree: Vidic Staying Put

Silvano Martina – agent

“There is nothing true in these reports. Me and Nemanja are becoming tired of such rumours. He still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and he’s not for sale.”

Sir Alex Ferguson

“Of course we want him to stay. He is a great player. One of the best centre-backs in the world. Our players are the subject of speculation from time to time. You just have to deal with it.”

  1. Altonian says:

Was the same not said about Ronaldo last year?

  2. Red phil says:

How many times have these rumours come up?

If he wants to go then let him go, we will find another centre half. We don’t want people that don’t want to be here, like ronaldo, gabby hienze and beckham, he can fuck off too.

  3. Fred says:

    VIVA LA VIDA!!!

  4. Fred says:

    I always knew he’d stay.

  5. manu4life says:

he has to stay and stay for long time. we should not be a selling club.

  6. Drew Vader says:

Stop fucking about Vida and get back in the squad!

  7. n0bber says:

If that quote from his agent is true, you can pretty much put your mortgage on it that he’s on his way…Its just a way of pumping up the price and interest in his client.

  8. United Fan says:

Everything Vidic has ever said leads me to believe he will not leave United anytime soon. Come on you reds!

  9. Costas says:

I am tired of talking. And as Altonian said, we heard similar stuff last season. I will believe he will stay when I see him in our pre season tour. Not sooner.

  10. reddevil16 says:

vida is the one whom our opponents find intimidating….. he shld stay…. we shldnt be left with a team under construction when Sir Alex leaves….

  11. King Eric says:

Costas – Agreed mate. It may be me being paranoid but everytime Fergie is asked about Vida regarding injuries and possible return he looks really awkward and shifty. Summat amiss somewhere.

  12. King Eric says:

Sorry meant to add. If we actually saw him at a game or two sat with the lads it may put my mind at rest. Ain’t seen owt of him for weeks now.

  13. Edge says:

    Ha Fred.

Can’t believe no one thought of that as soon as the song was released.

  14. Edge says:

    Great point King Eric.

Hargo has been in the stands everygame for months and months. Rio is always there. Even Nani was always with the lads.

  15. Costas says:

    @King Eric

The only time we saw him recently was along with the rest of the squad celebrating Rooney’s player of the month award. He seemed pretty happy.

  16. A person from Manchester says:

I bet god no’s hes future

  17. Costas says:

    Official Line up:

    VDS-Rafael,Rio,Evans,Evra-Nani,Carrick,Scholes,Fletcher,Park-Rooney

    Beckham starts.

  18. Fze123 says:

Well, when I do get to see him either in the stands, bench or on the pitch I will pretend to believe that he won’t be going anywhere in the summer.

  19. King Eric says:

Costas – Oh really. I didn’t see that. (regards your post about celebrating for Rooney). Regards the team it is what most expected. Happy with that.

  20. Costas says:

    @King Eric.

Me too. Only surprise is the Rafael one. Maybe Fergie wants Brown fresh for Everton.

What a day for Rafael though! Up against Ronaldinho.

  21. Fred says:

Fergie’s comments are hardly conclusive “we WANT Vidic to stay.” If there was no danger of him going Fergie would have scoffed at the questions and said “he’s going nowhere, it’s all bollocks.”

I’m fine with him leaving in the summer but I at least expect him to give 100% dedication to United until then. I’m still not sure he’ll actually play for us again.

  22. Its in my blood says:

I want to say hurrah! Can’t though. Not cos i don’t want him to stay, it’s just an overwhelming gut feeling that all is not well on this one.
True, you can’t do much more than get your manager and agent to say all is well, but how many votes of confidence have we seen right before a manager is sacked? It’s like the kiss of death!
SAF’s body language and choice of words tell me more than these “official
    statements”.
    Well, we’ll see.
    First, lets deal with AC!
    C’MON!

  23. Paul Parker says:

I hope he is focused. Rather lose him and find a replacement then keep him once his head is turned. Ideally, this has all been a figment of my imagination.

  24. Corea says:

Of course it’s not enough. Let’s continue to disrespect the player.

  25. redinrwanda says:

If SAF says he wants Vida to stay, it seems out of his hands now. It’s Vida has to decide whether he stays or quit.

  26. thedevil85 says:

straight swap for benzema if his lass has already turned his head to madrid gud result tonite like, fukin cum on united lets beat barcelona in final, and 4 in a row to go with it,big game at goodison, rooney hatrick? please!

  27. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Every year one of our top players is always linked with a move away from the club. More often than not the player is a fan favourite. This is purely done to unsettle the fans which can then (in the journos mind) unsettle the team. Vidic ain’t going nowhere all this nonsense about him leaving is coming from red tops and every day people buy into it. If he’s training and says he’s not ready. Isn’t that not a good thing. The way we’ve been losing defenders for the last 2 years I’d hate to see him play then re-injure himself again. We need our top players fit for March through to the end of the season. If we can get away with it why not? Same principle on Berbatov, I’d rather he not play now and be available for the run in. He should be having an operation but if he plays 8-9 out of a possible 19, I’ll be happy with that. Injuries at this time of the season could cost us dear it has in the past. 2002 is a great example of that.

  28. manchuchu says:

Calf strain for Milan my balls. Vidick wants Madrid head. Pretty obvious

  29. brett1985 says:

No offense to anyone but I was wondering why Vidic looks like a Nazi in the picture. It is probably a british army hat isn’t it. But then I noticed his raised arm.

  30. Fred says:

It’s a Russian police officer’s hat which he somehow obtained during the celebrations in Moscow.

Also, I don’t believe the “thumbs up” is a Nazi salute. Not that I am aware of, anyway!

  31. trevor says:

    Lads,

A lot has been made of Vidic pulling out. My opinion is that from a personal point of view vidic has played when he wasnt fully fit or match fit and has been slated for his performance.

He has maybe been a little selfish and said look, im not match fit enough for this match as he didnt want to be made a fool of. Which you can understand to a degree.

I do think Vidic does want away from the club, and i dont think we will get to hear the true story.

one thing for sure is that we cant beleive too much we read in the papers, or take Fergies or his agents story for granted. They are saying the right things and saying what we all need to hear irrespective of what actualy is going to happen!

No offence to vidic but with the emergance of Evans i would take 20 million for vidic as long as it was put towards our transfer funds for another player in a more needy area!

  32. trevor says:

    Question for you all.

out of 100 what would you rate vidic and evans as players!

    For me

I would rate vidic at about 97 and Evans at 95

  33. King Eric says:

brett1985 – I was thinking exactly the same thing mate.

  34. King Eric says:

Trevor – Hello mate. Twenty million? No chance. Lescott went for more than that.

  35. trevor says:

    @King Eric

Id like to think we would get more than 20 million however we wont be selling him to city!
I cant see us getting 30 mil for him, maybe im wrong i dont know!

  36. brett1985 says:

Fred, yea its not a Nazi salute at all but someone could photoshop it pretty easy!
