Fergie: Barca Leave Me Drooling… But We’ll Probably Play Chelsea

Manchester United booked their place in the European Cup final last night and by this evening will know who we will face.

Personally, I’d rather Barcelona in the final instead of doing Moscow The Rematch: This Time It’s Personal, but I have to agree with the manager and expect we will face Chelsea.

“Barcelona have fantastic players and I watched them on Saturday night,” said Ferguson. “I was absolutely drooling watching them. It was a magnificent performance. But they have centre-back problems at the moment and at Chelsea that may cost them. I think Chelsea will possibly get through.”

True i have noticed Barcelona are horrible in the air whilst watching the el’clasico.

Agree, I would prefer Barca too. But the thought of beating Chelsea in the final AGAIN is so appealing. Except, this time we can actually finish it off in the first half, like we should have last year. It should have been 2 or 3 nil by the break, and we have been praised for a brilliant performance, instead of a lucky shootout win.

We’ve got a team that can beat both of them. Having said I would prefer Barca, they would probably have won the league a few weeks before the final, and so could rest players in the final few games. Chelsea ‘could’ still be trying to catch up with liverpool (and possibly us, if they’re deluded) and have the FA cup final, which is gonna be massive for them. Two years without a trophy for a team that has spent so much will be damaging. So in that respect, Chelsea would probably be the better option. The Champions league final is 3 days before the FA cup final. If we are able to beat Chelsea in the final, running them ragged in doing so, I believe Everton will win the FA cup. Brilliant!

Even with Puyol Barca are pretty horrible at the back. I always heard gr8 stuff abt him for the last couple of seasons, but having seen him personally throughout this season, can’t help but feel Vidic, Rio, Terry are all ahead of him as centre backs

    barca are better than chelsea

but united are better set up to play barca

    but united> the other 2

cause we’re gonna win 2 in a row

Its a rock, paper, scissors situation with Barcelona. They’re brilliant passers but their defending is awful and whilst there is nobody in the Spanish league who can take advantage of that because the defending is so poor (check how much the bottom four have scored in La Liga!) Chelsea, on that small Stamford Bridge pitch, might. I personally hope for a Barca victory because I’m pretty sure we can sucker them in and exploit their defensive frailties with quick counter attacks from the legs of Rooney and Ronaldo. Yet I think it’ll be very hard for them if Chelski manage to start getting high balls into box or, worse, set pieces. Both the goals they conceded against Real were free headers against a team with Drogba, Ballack, Terry etc. you do fear that’ll be their undoing.

Guys apparently the news about Fergie’s grandson are true.My prayers are with the boy. Can’t imagine how Fergie must be feeling.

I love a true European final, that is Barca vs ManUtd and in Italy as well.
Chelsea is dull, physical and a ‘long ball to Drogba’ team. I hate the sight of players like Mikel, Ballack & tiny tears. Chelsea will think to have revenge on their mind & such thots does not a great final make. Make it Barca vs ManUtd and a classic 3-2 come-from-behind win for ManUtd!

Agree. Plus, just for the Fans, Utd vs Barca would be such a great treat! We have had three great European Cup finals in our history, but beating Barca (if we do so) in a CL Final would have to take the cake!

the chavs have definitely an advantage with a smaller pitch tonight, but they can’t park the bus again.it will take some stopping Iniesta & co.
suhayl where are you mate ?

  13. Marq says:

United vs Barca sounds much much more appealing and fantasy football than United vs Chelsea
