Fergie: City Must Be Desperate To Play Tevez

Earlier this week, Manchester City ambassador, Patrick Vieira, claimed that Manchester United showed “weakness” in bringing 37-year-old Paul Scholes out of retirement.

In just the few months he’s been playing, Scholes has already scored more than he did all of last season and has been an important player in every game he has featured.

Sir Alex Ferguson has today responded to Vieira’s criticism by claiming City are the desperate ones, given they have now welcomed Carlos Tevez back with open arms after falling 2nd in the table, despite him refusing to play for them for six months and Roberto Mancini claiming he would never play for City again.

“If it’s desperation bringing the best midfielder in Britain back for the last 20 years then I think we can accept that,” said Ferguson. “I think he was programmed for that. Roberto had a wee dig a couple of weeks back. We’re all going to play our hand that way. There will be plenty of ammunition for that. If you talk about desperation, they played a player the other night (Tevez) who refused to go on the pitch, the manager said he’d never play again and he takes a five-month holiday in Argentina. What is that? Could that come under the description of desperation?”

After Tevez refused to come off the bench to play for City in the Champions League game against Bayern Munich, Mancini said: “For me, if a player plays for Manchester City in the Champions League and earns a lot of money and does this, then he can never play for me again. I can’t accept this from him. For me, he’s finished. I cannot go on with him. If I decide these things then he’s finished. At Bayern Munich, do you think this would happen? Would it happen at Milan or United? I am the manager. I make the decisions and in my opinion he can’t play for me again.”

Manchester United, they are scared of us. This time it isn’t Highbury Pizza, it’s Etihad non Alcohol. We know that they are alcoholics, even the Government agree with us and it’s important to understand that the Government wants Tevez to lead the campaign against Manchester United, because Alcohol damages people and Manchester United are damaging people.

Tevez is going to lead this campaign not because of the money but because he wants to come out and stop the vicious liver disease that Manchester United have given the world. We want an uprising against alcohol, and praise be to Allah and Sheikh Mansour for giving us the courage to fight this evil.

(Patrick Viera was sponsored by Abu Dhabi tourism authority, Muslims against alcohol and Carlsberg – Manchester City PROBABLY the best team in the world, better than Manchester United.)

And to think there were people on here giving supporters on here grief for giving Viera shit at Scholesys testimonial.

Not everyone who retires is past it, Scholes packed it in because he wasn’t guaranteed 30 starts a season. Hence why people thought he shouldn’t have packed it in. Looking at his stats since his return are prrof of that.

Viera retired because he was 3 years passed his sell by date and when he packed it in, nobody gave a shit and nobody wanted him to carry on. Now he’s Director of Football at emptihad and has uncovered such gems like Savic.

    Spot the difference.

    to MG
i seriously dont see the funny side of involving Islam and religion in this issue. i’ve yet to see Man City fans raising the fact the Glazers are Jewish into any satirical/humourous take on United.

you want to poke fun at Veira’s utterances which where hilarious then great, but just keep religion out of it pls.

stick to the football, enough religious crap being spewed by those in positions of power without the average citizen getting involved in a bad attempt at being funny. besides last i checked this is a united site not the guardian’s comment is free section….

  11. Gorse Hill Red says:

What I could not believe were all the Tevez banners and flags by the pathetic City supporters declaring their love for him. Shows what a classless lot they all are. Would never happen at United never.

  12. AbuSaad says:

    @dalliaa
Agree, I’m not a frequent poster on this site yet I take time and enjoy the fact that it is part of my day, as a Muslim I found MG’s post offending and I was very surprised that he would right something like this.

  13. LoneStarRed says:

It’s not even a fair fight. Womancini and Viera vs SAF in a battle of wits. Both Citey men were unarmed, or maybe half armed. Two knockouts with one blow. ,”Would someone please get the the physios to wake these men up” . Poor fools never even saw the blow that cold cocked them.

  14. The WitchKing of Angmar says:

At long last, after I have waited long for it, the mind games has finally began. Thanks Fergie. Now make them crack up. City made the biggest mistake of their existence by starting this mind battle with Fergie, the worst person who would want to do that with. Now, I am certain that the league is ours.

  15. WillieRedNut says:

  16. TheLeftBank says:

The comments by SAF made my Friday. A masterful rebuttal and right back at ya Shitty!

I almost feel sorry for Viera and Mancini. Almost.

Never bring a knife to a gunfight.

  17. Utd4life says:

Loud mouth Viera should have kept his trap shut. You do not and I repeat “YOU DO NOT” play mind games with the Gaffer. For references, please ask the following managers:
    Kevin Keegan
    Rafa Benitez
    Kenny Daglish

And the list goes on. SAF has been there, done that and will keep doing it till he is in charge of Manchester United.

  18. King Eric says:

Absolutely superb response by Fergie. Stick that up your arse Viera you tunnel bottling cunt.

You watch Fergie get stick in the media for the “mind games”. Fuck off Pat.

I absolutely HATE the way the greedy fat golfer has been lauded as a hero after the other night’s cameo. Smalltime club isnt the word.

NRD – Hey up pal. Where you been? How’s tricks?

  19. Jeet says:

@AbuSaad and @dalliaa: I can understand why it’s wiser not to bring up religion or plitics on a forum like this. At the same time, I have to say that I see nothing that can be remotely construed as offensive to the Muslim community in MG’s post. And I don’t know if you are aware, but as far as I know, MG is a practicing Muslim and doesn’t touch a drop (MG – correct me if I’m wrong).

And ohh, there have been a couple of stray posts about the Glazers that brought up the Jewish angle in a derogatory manner that could be well construed as far more offensive than MG’s post. Pretty much all of RoM condemned those posts and they were probably deleted by STR.

Let’s draw a line on this here and move on. I think we all pretty much understand each other. The intent was clearly not to upset any sensibilities, MG is pretty much known as a responsible leader on this forum, so let’s not make this another 600 post storm in a tea cup.

Peaceout. After all, we are UNITED.

  20. King Eric says:

    Willie – Ha quality pal.

Gorse Hill Red – I know pal. It was laughable wasn’t it. Waving their “Tevez 32″ shirts and “welcome to manchester ” tops. Fucking idiots.

  21. Utd4life says:

“We want him (Pogba) to stay because we think he’s going to be a fantastic Manchester United player. We hope that’s the case.” Boy, if I were in Pogba’s shoes, I would have signed that contract a long time ago. Seriously, why isn’t the lad signing the fucking contract when he can clearly see that the Gaffer wants him to stay?

  22. LoneStarRed says:

    @Abusaad and Dalian
I see MG using satire to lampoon City. He is saying that things which are supposed to be sacred to City ( discipline, team unity and the authority of the manager) are for forgotten if it does not win games. In short win at all costs. The use of Carlsberg as a sponsor in his post is dead giveaway to that. Hypocrisy abounds especially if they can use it against us.There were also a few posts in another thread satirically referring to Tevez as the Christian messiah. It’s meant to show hypocrisy and how some will invoke sacred symbols to rationalize whatever they wish to justify. I perceived no attack on Islam. Your hypersensitivity though is apparent.

  23. denton davey says:

King Eric @ 13:17: “Stick that up your arse Viera you tunnel bottling cunt.”

    “you tunnel bottling cunt.”

Well said, sir; you’re still the King of ROM.

  24. Jutinho says:

    @LoneStarRed
well said mate, well said. MG didn’t say anything wrong and the hypersensitivity is out of control these days

  25. AJ says:

Both statements are true. Man U had midfield problems and scholesey solved that to a great degree. Man C has just handed the league back to Man U with some lousy performances in the last month and they need some miracle, even tevez, to take this campaign anywhere.

  26. 0161-Jon says:

Money of course the fucking classless mercenary.

  30. unitedyankee says:

SAF with a classic response. The reason it makes us all laugh is the truth behind it!! Mancini doesn’t have the balls SAF does. Would he bench his star player for being hungover at practice like SAF did? I don’t think so!! In SAF we trust!!

    @Jeet

I think everyone just gets a little sensitive when it comes to religion, esp when it comes to Islam, with all the negative publicity its been in recent times. I agree though, I’ve been following RoM for a while now and I’ve yet to see MG post something to purposefully offend anyone.
Just think we should stick to football as these comments just create unnecessary drama and tension as there’s always those who take some things a bit too seriously. Not saying that has to be a bad thing, because religion is pretty personal, some people consider it a huge part of their lives and hence get defensive about it.

Anyway, when I first read the comments from Viera it pissed me the fuck off like I’m sure it did a lot of you. But the way SAF just handles it makes me giddy with joy. Backhanded bitch slap to mankini and the cunt viera! Well playedd! :D

The biggest mistake City, mancini and Vieira have made is to start the mind games against the Godfather..

  40. samuel - united WE stand says:

Fergie is not only a quality manager but a brilliant mind manipulator (if that’s a word? but sounds good to me anyway). Viera’s comments won’t affect him simply because you can’t use old tricks you learnt from a book against someone that wrote and published it, it will be more about him using it to spur the team on hopefully against a tricky fulham team……

  41. dalliaa says:

no where in my post did i use the word offensive, i just said the comment wasnt funny and in context of the post was irrelevant…the key word being context.

if the issue had been for example the maktooms saying no training on friday cause of friday prayer i’d have been the first to jump up and down and scream blue murder, but the post Scott put up referred to SAF’s brilliant riposte and put down of Viera’s pathetic attempt at mind games. Round one SAF.

@Jeet, i completely get your point

@Wayne, am sure you’re sick of the PC brigade, so am I, and am sick of Muslims being the punching bag over the actions of extremists; just like many fair-minded and liberal Brits and Americans for example are probably sick of the actions undertaken in their name by their governments etc etc yadda yadda. but like i said above the issue is context. PS am not a lad, am a ladette i guess you can say.

anyway, ive said my point and its now 5pm local time, my weekend has started and am heading to my favourite pub.

  42. LoneStarRed says:

@Dalliaa OK then. The ladette has spoken and we can move on to things Football.

  43. gora says:

tbh i really was shockd by vieira. I thought it was very dull those comments. It was scholes who came to the gaffr not the other way round. 2 yrs at a club and you are already an ambassador, thats being desperate. Why would saf be desperate when we aren’t under pressure to win the league since 1.we won the league last season city, i can’t remember
    2. Even if we don’t win saf will still be in charge yet fankini will be jobless if he doesnt.
    3. Every player that is scouted by another team, city will want him, thats desperation e.g d rossi, nasri, silva, barry.
    4. Fans crying-thats desperation

  44. aimanunited says:

@wayne, just think of religion issue this way.
for most loyal united fans, they love the club very much and would do anything in their power if it can bring success to the club.
some consider manchester united as a religion itself.
and when ABUs badmouthing the club or our players, we the fans would become angry and will make sure that we pay them back. We even defend our player/manager even when they’re wrong…

The same thing can be said about every religion in this world, some people might not understand the reason but for devout Muslims, even jokes are very offensive. There are lots of other things that you can make joke about so I humbly ask everybody in this blog to refrain from saying things about religion.

  45. LoneStarRed says:

@ Dalliaa Jimmy Buffet was right. It’s five o’clock somewhere. :)

  46. wayne says:

dalliaa that’s what i always hear it’s the extremists and the masses get the blame,my problem is i never see the masses doing anything about it,all i see is horrible groups like the Taliban supressing peoples rights, torturing and killing people, seems to me the ave Muslim in the middle east lives in poverty and fear and no disrespect but also very ignorant and uneducated.
I’m a pragmatist so believe in evolution and science and don’t even get why religion even exists but whatever gets someone through the night, doesn’t matter what religon has been the main cause for death, toture and war thru the ages and it seems a few controls the masses
Just had enough don’t care what people do just don’t need them interfering in my life, seems to me the Muslim religion attracts the extremists,it’s time for the billion or so to do something about it,honestly don’t see to many passive Muslims in the middle east just trouble causers

Cheers mate. Been following the Clyne stories for awhile. Follow on stories now in the DailyFail and Metro. All say we were in for him in Jan but lad decided to stay on at Palace out of loyalty and to get games. at 20 already has >100 games for the eagles and is an england U19 and U21. In Jan we apparently offered 3M but he would come for training fees (free transfer) in the summer.

    The defence rests

    Oh okay

Viera was saying things right that have been put into his mouth – it’s been scripted as the gaffer says.

Well for those that don’t know me read Jeet and LoneStarRed again

Under my writing credentials I write because I can find the hypocrisy in everything – a lot of people are offended by this but they shouldn’t be – no one person/group has a right to justify what is known as common and sense.

The remark was as innocent as what I did to Tevez saving Christianity on a couple of blogs back.

I am not afraid of sensitivities – I too am a Muslim but one that does not practice everything word for word, because and this is the irony bit, as a writer I know words can be written in ways to promote ones agenda. I am not going further – I know people take religious text by word and by heart – suffice to say I respect people who do that – I am just saying i don’t.

Today Muslims are being killed in Syria by a Muslim as the Muslim family gladly watches on – forget the Western world because when your own are looking away then everyone else will just follow suit.

You want to know what defamation and hypocrisy of a religion is – don’t start with a writer, start with those that are killing people – I merely use my words for a laugh and for that cannot apologise because ultimately this world should know that I am here and I find things much more serious in context than at times what I say – and yes this is a United blog and again me trumping my card no one does it better than me ;)

If ultimately I want to tie it all in then there are many who follow this club from all walks of life, the greater good is the need to know that we come here for a reason no matter who and what you are – everything else is irrelevant – it is to me anyway – and religion is just another political tool born out of necessity and want to control and put fear into people.

If you believe in God, great – but if what you believe creates a world where all you are doing is to find ways to proclaim your right over everyone else then that is just a tragedy isn’t it?

I am who I am – privileged to have encountered Manchester United the way I did – some might say this is a religion, I don’t.

This is more than a religion, this is a family, this is a love affair. Here in this love affair, you have to stay the course for better or for worse.

  78. King Eric says:

Some of the bitters on that Mail link though reckon Fergie is doing a Keegan. You could not make it up.

Cuntin plastic no fans no class no dignity no fucking hopers! Go stick put your trophy cabinet keys in your fucking FA cup and stick it up Vieras arse, you won’t be needing them for a bit! And if you ever do need them get the lanky streak of piss to meet Keano, they’ll soon fucking reappear!!! Whose gonna be city’s next legendary ambassador….Pizzaro….??!!! Two bob fucking joke outfit! Class, you want class, you want dignity? You want pride and respect….have a butchers over at Old Trafford you fuck ends, that’ll give you some clues. You can throw as much oil mony at the bitter cunts as you like but you can’t escape the old adage …. You can’t polish a turd!

Get it out Mike let it all out…

    And breathe…

  109. red_bicycle says:

Interestingly, Viera statement is similar to some of the postings here by United fans suggesting that scholes return , ravel morison & pogba departure is the sign of United diminishing power.

    Are u vieras in disguise?

  110. MichaelPapoui says:

Thought for today… I Red that Ryan Giggs can still fly as high as the pigs in a City’s Blue Sky.

  111. Siddharth Kanjilal says:

Some one mentioned about the Maktoum family. I would like to mention and clarify that the Maktoum family rule the emirate of Dubai, whereas City’s owners are the rulers of Abu Dhabi. The Maktoum family had previously shown interest in Liverpool football club. Emirates as you know is also owned by Dubai and sponsors several teams – Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG, Hamburg, Arsenal.

  112. Humanoid says:

I’m a Muslim and I found MG’s post hilarious. People need to develop a sense of humor.

  113. Manchuchu says:

Peace guys. Let’s just chill out.

Time to bust out the beer, bacon and pork chops.

    Yummmmmmm.

And if Viera can be their ambassador, we should make Henrik Larsen ours

  114. MichaelPapoui says:

Thought for the day… Is the Rio Grande Ferdinand or a little Pea from the Mexican Sea?

  115. Humanoid says:

“Time to bust out the beer, bacon and pork chops.”

I’ll bust out the bhang, kebab and curry then ;)
