Fergie: Le Havre Will Have To Retract Comments

Sir Alex Ferguson insists we have nothing to worry about where the stories of tapping up are concerned

“There has been a lot of jumping on the bandwagon of course but I can assure you that Manchester United have behaved absolutely correctly in all their dealings with young players and their parents,” said Ferguson. “There has never been a case, ever, that we have paid parents. It would be crazy to even contemplate that because it would be the biggest headache you could ever have, paying a parent. This was levelled by some frustrated director at the French club and he’s now going to have to retract. We do it impeccably. They were always going to bring Manchester United into it because they are the biggest club, but without any foundation, without any knowledge of the situation whatsoever. What other clubs do is subject to a lot of controversy at the moment but I’m confident at our own club.”

    According to some reports,we gave Duncan Edwards’ parents a washing machine to make sure he signed for us.

    @theboogeyman : washing machines in 1950′s ? lol

    If they did not have a washing machine, getting his kit clean would be impossible, white shorts. Refunding a justifiable business expense.

  5. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I says:

    You dont have to offer the parents a job or even a lump sum. You build in their cut of the deal into the kids wages.

    Pay the kid 5k a week and he gives Mum and Dad 2k and keeps three for himself. That is even better than a job as you get the money for staying in bed.

    Fucking hell…I wish some fucker would pay my lad (lazy bastard) 5k a week so as I can have 2k for meself…… you can only dream …..sigh ….

    Does flying a young player & parents to EURO2008 to meet a certain coach who was working as a pundit counts as ‘bribing’ the parents? It must have included hotel stays & meals and so on…Poor Gary Neville & Giggs had to be the OT guide at the time…
