Pictures released of Michael Owen training at Carrington showed our new player having a laugh with his team-mates, clearly very happy to have made the move away from Newcastle.
Sir Alex Ferguson has today claimed that Owen is enjoying himself at United and there should be no concerns about his goalscoring.
“I’ve been really pleased with the way he has trained,” said Ferguson. “He has worked hard -but the main thing is he coming into work with a smile on his face. He is really enjoying himself.”
There have been concerns over Owen’s fitness problems as well as a drop in form since joining Newcastle, however the manager isn’t worried.
“There is no doubt he could really get his goalscoring form back on track with us,” he added. “But really he has never lost it. Although he had a few injury problems at Newcastle, he kept up the excellent goals-per-game ratio he has had throughout his career.”

Michael Owen has represented United before in a tournament in the north east long before he became a rat muncher, the lad was just ill advised at the start of his career, he’ll enjoy it at OT i’m sure.
I used to like him as a player,even he was at Liverpool.Maybe it was because the year he was the Ballon D’Or winner in the year in which I started watching football.
Many have addressed his fitness problems and we will just have to wait and see how he gets on but am i the only one that thinks that a lot could be down to how Newcastle train? I mean how many of their players have had long periods out due to sustaining some sort of injury.

People have reffered to United as Man U for years.
It seems that “Top Reds” now jump on people for using the term, yet it was a name used by all United fans even in the late 80′s and early 90′s.

Micky Owen has already said that he isn’t injury prone. If another player lands on your foot, your probably going to break the metatarsal, if your English that is. If your knee pops out when your running, that is just plain unfortunate, a freak injury. If another player stamps on your ankle, it’s likely that your ankle is going to at least crack. It’s not like he’s always had a dodgy groin or hamstring ala Torres. Add to that the Geordies training facilities must be shit, I think Owen is a genius signing.
Whether he’s starting against the lower teams or coming off the bench against top teams, he will take the chances that we haven’t been able to since the mighty Ruud.

Actually I think Man Utd can afford to miss out on Aguero. How much does Kun actually improve us? In spite of spending large stretches of that period injured has Rooney not scored more goals than Kun over the past three years? Hasn’t Berbatov? Unless we’re in dire need and our reserves stuffing Hull on the last day of 08/09 shows even in 1st gear we can beat most of the Premier League why spend £60m?

you say that aguero is clever and provide assists…then listen to this….berba is in top3 of assists chart last season…i have not seen much of aguero..so i wont comment on him…but rather i would suggest to look at a few pieces of brilliance which will show you that we are in for a treat in the coming few years frm berba..
- the assist to ronaldo against westham…that was a sublime skill…thats what you wont see that often…and its not just a trick…but resulted in a goal!
- spurs 5-2 game!…not just one there are few …brilliant touches…and awesome control of ball…one of which resulted in goal.
- chelsea 3rd goal…it looks simple…i bet its pretty difficult to do for some one like owen in his prime…at the pace the ball was coming..
these are just a few…..many more are coming…watch out…BERBAGOD!

I’m sorry but virtually any striker can be prolific in Spain. Freddy Kanoute was average at West Ham and Spurs and is dangerous in Spain while Forlan has been a revelation. In Spain compared to the Premier League you get ages of time on the ball, nobody pressures you and when they do all you need to do is fall on the floor and 9 times outta 10 you’ll get a free kick.
Ronaldo will LOVE it in Spain. I wouldn’t be surprised if he scored 40 goals next season. He is faster and stronger than virtually any defender in La Liga and they leave such ridiculous gaps at the back that he will have a field day.
When people put these stats about how people do in Spain in front of me I have to say I don’t really give them much credence. Real Madrid scored more times in La Liga than United did in the Premier League last year and everyone agrees Madrid were abject last season. For me, that only goes to show how poor the defences in La Liga are.
Aguero is not worth £60 million. He’s a good player and he will develop to become better but worth more than Kaka? You’re having a laugh mate. Berbatov has proven he can score in the Premier League, the fact he didnt much last year is down to the fact that since 2007/08 began our entire team was made to accomodate the preferences of the artist formely known as Ronaldo or as he is now called CR9. With proper wingers putting in the crosses Berbatov has proved he will get 20 goals a season he’s not a gamble he’s a proven Premier League goalscoring guarantee. Like Owen, you give him the service he’ll score, and now CR9 has gone and the strikers in our team will once again be at the centre of our offence dont kid yourself he’ll be banging them in.
Aguero is a good player dont get me wrong but he doesnt add anything to our side that we cannot already get from the strikers we have.

The guy is CLASS! No doubt. And yeah, with him and Owen/Eto’o (?) upfront, with rooney in the whole, we have a fearsome combo! Plus the guy barely has any injuries (touchwood). he’s a solid bulgar. plus he is only 28 (not 29 till jan 2010) we shouldn’t be selling a 31 mil player after just one season anyway, we aren’t Cheksea/Madrid.

the guy is CLASS too. I saw the Barca-Athletico 7 goal thriller, and this guy owned, O.W.N.E.D. Puyol and co. that night. for anyone having fears about his chances of success in the EPL, rest assured, he makes up for his short height with amazing strength and speed. Plus the guy is damn athletic, almost an anti-Berba, he’s almost always jumping about, reminds me of the Duracel bunny at times. If we get him for 45 mil it would be amazing. but not for 60. and definitely not at the cost of Berba.

Aguero’s great, he COULD be a future worldbeater. But to say that Berbatov is crap is frankly ludicrous. Exactly why is Berbatov crap? 14 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances (not starts) in his first season at United. He missed a full pre-season. His move was a tediously 2 year long saga which obviously can affect a player mentally. He was adapting to a quite different style of play and was unable to get the chance to play for a run of games with a single strike partner. Considering the circumstances, Berbatov had a bloody good season.
Whether Aguero can be a good signing for us really depends on a lot of factors. The team’s formation, playing style, the league and the culture of the country are just a few of them. It can’t be said for sure if Aguero would fit in well with us but lets not make him being an Argie a factor, ok? How is it in any way relevant? Unless I completely misunderstood you, that is a totally racist thing to say.

Precisely my point mate. For the first ten minutes we domiminated Barca and they only got a foothold once they scored and, for some reason, our whole team let their heads drop. From the moment we went behind the confidence drained away faster than I’ve ever seen it from a Man Utd side. It only came back for that period right after they scored their second and Giggsy decided to go on a forward run and almost immediately got a goal back.

To menance Puyol is not something to be proud of. Once again I emphasise the standard of defending in Spain is comparatively poor. Like most people I have Sky Sports and when I’m in on a Sunday evening I’ll watch the games and nothing I have seen makes me change my mind. I’m not saying Aguero isnt a good player but just cos he scores lots of goals in La Liga doesn’t mean he’s brilliant. The times I’ve seen him for Argentina and in Europe have proved he is a good player to me, but a £60m player? You only spend that kind of money if you’re getting a vast improvement on what you already have e.g. Kaka>>>Madrid midfield. Aguero>>>Berbatov? No chance.

Aguero and Berba are different players and they bring different qualities, so its unfair to compare or say one is better than the other..

are the likes of berbatov and tevez who are just not up to scratch. you can say this and that but berbatov is not much better than tevez. they do not improve the front line greatly.
now the likes of messi ronaldo kaka aguero rooney they are the cream of europe that make teams better. they take teams to another level.
