Fergie: One Or Two More Signings A Possibility

Sir Alex Ferguson has today hinted that there are more deals in the pipeline, after unveiling Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell to the media.

“We could possibly bring one or two more in,” he said. “When there’s a major international tournament on, there’s a delay in the transfer market. But now the European Championships are over, we’re trying to bring someone in. We’ve always done well in terms of getting players at the end of season, instead of waiting all summer. In Kagawa’s case, there was a fair bit of negotiating and that kept going for weeks. As for Powell, we knew Dario Gradi [Crewe Alexandra director of football] would help us do the deal quickly.”

    Fucking Hell

Nick Powell is born 23 Mar 1994…….flipping hell !

  2. Moscow says:

    A possibility? A fucking possibility?

  3. Costas says:

2 signings would be lovely. Unless we expect Carrick and Evra to play every game at the age of 31.

  4. parryheid says:

A possibility? What about likelyhood or better still Definately.

  5. WillieRedNut says:

    A facking possibility!

  6. mara says:

    Moscow hahahhah….

  7. King Eric says:

Why would he say definitely? He is always very closed on transfer matters. Anyway there is fuck all we can do about it, I just leave it to Fergie.

  8. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

So one or two more signings then… please get a midfielder sir. PLEASE.

  9. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Costas – replied on the Rio Thread.

I think we’ll sign Baines and then finally go for that “Value in the Market” purchase which never happens.

If Fletch is playing career is over then it will definitely be
Such as shame and he must be feeling horrible about the prospect of never returning.to his past health :(

We 6 central midfielders….2 veterans, 2 youngsters (Clevs and Powell) 1 Middle age and Ando.
    Miracles will be needed !

    :P

  10. denton davey says:

Costas – the suggestion that DarrenFletcherinho’s playing career is finished shouldn’t come as a surprise. Unfortunately, ulcerative colitis is a chronic problem – it flares up and goes into remission but it doesn’t “go away” with treatment. The nature of this problem is that it saps his strength so that it would have been miraculous for him to regain the prime level of fitness that he achieved a few years ago. AND for a player like Fletcherinho, energy and drive are key components of his game.

Darren’s absence from the first-team against Barcelona – in both 2009 and 2011 – were crucial factors in the subdued response by UTD to “the ultimate challenge” posed by Xavi, Messi, Iniesta and their pals. I’d like to think that when SAF suggests “one of two” new signings that he’s aware that NoFletch/NoWin.

  11. parryheid says:

    King Eric.
He wouldn’t say definately because he can kid us on indefinately. And your right unfortunately there is fuck all we can do about it

  12. Jeet says:

    Tramp: Did it burst?
    Moscow’s mum: It’s a possibility ;)

  13. Arbiter says:

Well, at least he’s not throwing names around like Mankini does, in trying to sell season tickets…we all know we’re quite close to signing Baines, its in all the papers…who else, I do not know, but hopefully, it’d be someone who can slot into the First XI or at least the subs immediately, rather than someone for the Academy or the Reserves…

  14. jack says:

imo we need 3 (dm, playmaker and a lb) and i would of liked a luxury signing like lucas but its not the end of the world.

at the end of the day Fergie knows what his doing and hopefully we get these signings done asap.

  15. WillieRedNut says:

Powell will become a midfielder. Fletcher looks like he’s going to retire. Powell won’t make much of an impression this season, so Fergie needs to sign someone now. Come on Fegie! :D

  16. parryheid says:

    And I would rather Martinez.

  17. Costas says:

    @Clint

I saw it mate. But to avoid going back and forth, I’ll respond here. :)

I hope you are right about Anderson. It’s not something he was born with imo. I happened to see the 07-08 review recently and he was in the right body shape, had great stamina during the game and didn’t get injured. Don’t know why, but it seems like he’s slowly deteriorated since then. Maybe it’s a case of not having the proper mindset. Hopefully Fergie will give him a reality check that will force him to rediscover his focus. It’s a shame to see so much potential wasted. He has the attributes on paper.

    @denton

Yeah, I believe you were the first person in here to predict the end of his career. It’s incredibly sad. I was hoping that a different position would ease the tension on him, but if he can’t even manage to return to training, I think there’s only one solution. The guy should just look to have a clean and healthy life. That’s all that matters.

I’ve always agreed with you when it comes to how important Darren is to United. I hope I am wrong, but the way Fergie is structuring our midfield, it doesn’t look like a player of Fletch’s mould will be brought in…

  18. WillieRedNut says:

    Moutinho!

  19. Costas says:

    Huddlestone!

  20. Passe says:

Just don’t put all our eggs in the Fletcher coming back basket… We already did that with Hargo. It would be madness not to buy one CM. Scholes, Giggs, Anderson, Cleverley are all question marks as far as their fitness and injuries are concerned. A CM and a left back, it really couldn’t be much clearer.

  21. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Costas -
I think he has received a reality check mate, who wouldn’t after 3 years of slacking
About his weight, possibly because we signed him as a kid (18) he was still skinny because of a lack of muscular growth (like welbeck) but because his body has matured over 5 years and gained more muscle +(fat)…the fat lard could not keep up with changing his diet to maintain a decent muscle to fat ratio.

:P Dunno what the fuck I’m talking about ;)

  22. wayne says:

A lot of negativity on all the new threads don’t know how anyone can determine Utd aren’t in the market for a midfielder by Sir Alex’s comments or that Powell will be thrown in at the deep end
AVB given up on Modric said he can leave Spurs for the right price,I just don’t rate him anywhere close to 40mill,I’m pretty sure Sir Alex will be working on someone but from a personal point of view don’t really give a fuck if Utd sign anyone or not

  23. keano99 says:

Looks like were getting baines and that’s it! Really pissed off not getting a central midfielder its just been on sky sports news modric to real is 99% done he’s exactly what we need but we shouldn’t be suprised the days of paying over 20 mil for a player are gone we wouldn’t have got kagawa if he wasn’t on the last year of his contract. And it dose’nt get much better hearing about fletch really gutted he was missed last season and will be missed in the future. Top red and alllways will be no what.

  24. Saleh Tahir says:

Moutinho will be perfect singning 4 man u.pls sir go an bring him

  25. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Looking at the Centre midfield of other teams;

    City: Toure,Barry,De Jong,Milner,Nasri
    Arsenal: Song,Wilshere,Arteta,Ramsey,Rosicky,Diaby,Frimpong
    Spurs: Parker,Huddlestone,Modric,Sandro,Rose,Livermore
    Liverpool: Lucas,Gerrard,Adam,Henderson,Aquilani,Shelvey,Spearing

The ideal number to have is 6 or 7.

    We have:
    Carrick,Scholes,Giggs,Clevs,Ando,Powell…….Fletch

 Sign someone, we look weird compared to the others teams….its as if we we don’t care looking at names in the middle

  26. wayne says:

Keano99 most of your comment is complete and utter nonsense, why even write this shit Utd have made moves for players 30 mill+ every season, even this year had the Hazard bid accepted.Chirst twats like you who just write shit with nothing based on facts drives me fucking nuts

  27. Jeet says:

    Strootman!

  28. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Lets sign Clint Dempsey and put him in the “holding midfielder” role.

    8)

We’ll sign Baines…a midfielder would be generous of Feegy….it would prove the old man has finally mellowed

I got a feeling Berba will stay and he and Kiko will go toe to toe for something for the bit part role !

  29. zigoo says:

we will get a CM with baines

we have too…our cm options are very poor in comparison to other big teams, heck even to tottenham..

carrick is the only fit starter..scholes,giggs too old am afraid no matter how great they are, ando too injury prone to be relied on,cleverly too,and will be missing for the first part due to olympics, which leaves powell and fletch, fletch wont make it,and powell is young u cant throw him in at such a young age..

    WE MUST BUY A CM

    preferably moutinho :D :D

  30. Manc Harvin says:

If Darren Fletcher’s career really is over, he should look back with pride at what he’s achieved at United. His list of winner’s medals is:-

1 World Club Cup, 1 Champions League, 4 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cups & 4 Community Shields.

Who else, outside of Old Trafford, can match that impressive list? No Rentboy, Arsewipe, or Scouser comes close.

  31. Indian Devil says:

Hopefully we will have 2 new signings, a left-back and a Midfielder.

  32. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Not yet

    Manc Harvin

  33. Jeet says:

@Manc Harvin: Thanks for putting things in perspective.

You say “No Rentboy, Arsewipe, or Scouser comes close”.

THAT is not a “possibility”, its fucking DEFINITE, and long may it last.

  34. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Moutinho will pick Spurs

    - They have a better younger manager that can speak english.
    - They have a new training ground.
    - They will sell modric to free up higher wages and a secured 1st team place.
    - They are ambitious.
    - They have Bale !
-They are the Real Madrid of England.
    -They play sexy football.
    - They have 4th place.

  35. Robbo says:

    Clint

If we are calling Giggs a midfielder it is pretty dire! Maybe a pinch hit here and there with the right partners would suffice.

    You also forgot Kagawa.

  36. 911_DEVIL says:

Our squad is very exciting this players I’m gonna mention here gonna be the guys who gonna make the bitters want to overhaul their expensive squad:
    Rooney
    AV7
    Nani
    Chicharito
    Kagawa
    Tom cleverley
And danny boy, watch out for this guys, they gonna terrorise opposition players. others are only reaching their pick
Imo the gaffer is doing everything just right, you can’t expect one to satisfy all 300m of united fans, as long as they do what’s right for the club, its enough for me…
I’ll not join the moaning brigade

If I’m not mistaken, I think we have 5 central midfieders in the first team
    Carrick
    Scholes
    Powell
    Tom cleverley
    Anderson
    Fletcher
    Its 6 actually.
    and all are fit
    So I don’t expect a new midfielder

  37. 911_DEVIL says:

    Except fletcher

  38. Costas says:

    @Clint

Nah, I think you made some sense about Ando’s weight lol. Fergie probably told him to bulk up and he thought McDonalds was the answer. I think he managed to lose some of that weight 2 years ago, but that was only because Bebe ate his food.

As for our midfield options, you summed them up quite well. They are 7 if you count Fletch, but when you take into account age, inexperience and injuries, our actual choices are 1: Carrick.

  39. WillieRedNut says:

Baines isn’t signing for United. Everton will ask for too much. I’d prefer a center mid anyway.

  40. CedarsDevil says:

Damn StR has been on fire! ha ha

    Wayne

You just need to ignore the negative cunts mate, as hard as I try I some times lose it, but lets face it the fuckers are out there

  41. Stinkfly says:

Well, my opinion, for what it is worth, is that we need:

    - Left Back
    - Right Back (Smalling and Jones are NOT right backs SAF!)
    - Ball Winning Midfielder

We maybe also need a striker if Berbatov goes, as Kiko is not good enough for MUFC if I am brutally honest, that is unless as SAF has hinted, Kagawa will play further forward and we use him “in the hole” in a tweat of formation to give an extra body in midfield in big games.

  42. Gentle says:

The MAYBE there is making me feel that there will not be any more signing. “Giggs & scholes wil give us good 20-25 matches, Ando and cleverly will get better while carrick will steady ship & hopefully fletcher will be like a new signing so we don’t have any value in the market that is better than what we have” Fergie’s speech in 3weeks time.

  43. Jeet says:

@Wayne: You say, “why even write this shit Utd have made moves for players 30 mill+ every season, even this year had the Hazard bid accepted.”

You could well be right (in fact I believe you are). What gets my goat though, and as much as the doomandgloomers, is that the moment hazard joined chelsea, many turned around and said “ohh, we never bid for him – he just used our name to raise his profile”. 2 days earlier, and 2 days later, the same chaps would have say “we have the money, we just bid 30 mil for hazard”.

Doesn’t stand to reason and good old “revisionism” as Denton would say.

  44. 911_DEVIL says:

    Giggs a midfielder :D !!!
    Ha, not again
I saw enough misplaced passes last season
He should choose 1 thing which would benefit him and the club.
Retire to go coach the youngsters
    Or just retire….
I think the youga isn’t doing much help here
He should think for the club not become greedy
We appreciate the work he putted in for the club
    He’s our legend

If think if you can’t help the team as much as you did in your prime you should hang the boots. No?

  45. CedarsDevil says:

Does anyone have a link to the press conference?

  46. WillieRedNut says:

  48. WillieRedNut says:

    Haha!

  49. 911_DEVIL says:

    What??? :D
Who’s the real slim shady here

  50. Jeet says:

Yeah, Giggsy’s staying on because he’s greedy…fuck me, just when I thought I had heard it all?

Fuck off to the woodwork, he’s Sir Giggsy, he shags who he wants, he stays on as long as wants. Comprende?

And I know he had a poor season, but what about the goal against Norwich? And what about his midfield perfomance the season before? Chelsea CL anyone?

Fucking fickle bastards, show some gratitude….you know who’s greedy? You lot, that’s who – who think its a fucking catastrophy if we dont win the treble every year…

  51. zhukov43 says:

I’m not getting excited at the signing of Kagawa or Powell, not what we need where is the midfielder we crave, Fergie will sign Baines too he is rubbish, the signings are getting weaker are they not, out of Europe by Xmas again I think, and the debt is an issue the Glazers have admitted that, but don’t ask Fergie his opinion eh, the IPO won’t happen mark my words, with an ageing spine to the team and unproven talent to replace them whilst we slide into legend, Fergie will be heard to cry “there’s no value in the market” our transfer policy is a joke, maybe ten more years before we reach a Champions League final again, and the league can’t be won with the tosh in the middle of the park…. the way the club is run and the lies told to us fans angers me….

  52. Jeet says:

…I mean what next, Scholesy coming back for his last United meal ticket?

  53. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Well its gone from 2-3 signings to 1 possibly 2. Wouldn’t read too much into it. Fergie doesn’t give too much away regarding transfers. It’s frustrating but can’t blame him either.

We’ll get Baines as soon as Everton have found themselves someone to bring in and like others have said that will probably it.

Thought Powell was a forward? If Gradi, Fergie and Powell himself see him as a centre midfielder then great. Worked for Scholesy all those years ago and we’re due a bit of luck in a conversion job for one of our players. Big step up from League 2 to PL, no finesse in that division in midfield which is probably why he played further forward.

With Park’s exit I think we need 3 players, 2 midfielders and a full back. In the midfield department Modric is the realistic option with him wanting to leave but Modric is to light weight for me. People unjustly give Carrick shit but I have never seen Modric hustle to win the ball back which I know isn’t part of his game but he will need to do it from time to time during a game at United.

Still plenty of time to pull a rabbit out the hat.

  54. 911_DEVIL says:

The one vs benfica in CL is a class goal aswel but petrucci is ready
Instead of playing him, the kid’s time as come to slot in, and giggy isn’t helping the proceedings
    We need energy

  55. WillieRedNut says:

How could you not be excited at Kagawa’s signing? Bizarre….

  56. Jeet says:

That’s not what you said …dont change your words.

  57. Cyril Sneer says:

We don’t sign anyone, people complain.
We don’t sign the player *you* want, people complain.
We pay too much in *your* opinion, people complain.
A player you’ve barely heard of leaves, people complain.
A player *you* don’t like stays, people complain.
Fergie doesn’t run every decision past *you*, people complain.
The team doesn’t play a formation *you* want, people complain.

Manchester United, greatest supporters in the world.

*You* don’t know better than Fergie. Let the man do his job and support *your* team.

  58. wayne says:

@Cedars I know mate but when out and out lies are written can’t let them go by
@Jeet it was public knowledge that three bids had been accepted,Hazard choose Chelsea because of wages, same as last year with WS,Inter and Utd had come to an agreement but it was the 250k wages that was a problem, the club also bid over 30mill for Benzema so what keano99 has written is just lies, what’s the point of that

  59. Jeet says:

Willie – by definition, if a player signs for us, he’s not good, don’t you know?

  60. CedarsDevil says:

Yeah I am not excited about signing Kagawa, I am fucking over the fucking moon…….For fucks sake

  61. Imran says:

and here i was thinking that that the doom and gloom people had forgotten about united and were busy preparing caves in mountains fearing the end of the world in 2012

  62. CedarsDevil says:

    Wayne

Let it rip pal, as I told you I hardly ever hold back

  63. Jeet says:

@Wayne: exactly, what I dont like is people changing their interpretation of “facts” to suit their beliefs….one way or the other…

  64. Imran says:

And kagawa was the best player in the german league thats a level (at least) above the french league

  65. WillieRedNut says:

Jeet – They crave stellar names! `Marquee` ;)

  66. Busby babes says:

2 more signings and both in the centre midfield area andersons made refrence to the fact his favoured postion is left back lol

  67. 911_DEVIL says:

    Cyrill spot on there mate..
You know what, aren’t joining the moaning brigade
Our team only require a defensive mid
Modric can wish of coming to manchester
We have tom who in a years time will be miles ahead him
We have ando who is class, injuries to brazilians at that age is not disastrous to my view
But they end up good nonetheless…
The lad is on smile everytime I see him, and that’s enough to me
He brings much more than his talent to the club
    The guy

  68. WillieRedNut says:

  72. mancdub says:

We would all like a couple more signings but even if we sign no one were still 2 top quality players better of than last year with Vidic and Kagawa. Evans can cover left back.

  73. james21 says:

After supporting Utd since I can remember (Depends how much I drink usually can’t remember what I did yesterday) I have been very lucky to see all SAF 25 + years. He has rarely ever spoken to the press about his transfer targets. So after 25 years why would he start saying we are definitely going to sign such and such player. This is the answer I’d expect SAF to tell the press. The less the papers and TV reporters know the better, Mankini is watching for any slip up so he can sign said player for shitty.

  74. Zibbie says:

    All I want for Christmas is my 2 MFer’s, my 2 MFer’s… hehe O we signed 2 MFer’s already.

Denton had educated me on what Fletch had a year ago. Well said Dave. Even if he try’s to come back, it will be like last year, Fletcher never getting up to speed, no bite, stuck in 3rd gear. tears of a clown….. my 2nd favorite player. I have done medical underwriting in the past, unless a new magic drug his career has been over for the last 2 years in all that was him….. anyone who saw SAF talk today he always has a place with the club, for life.

  78. ashwinred says:

I think Sir Alex is one the best managers in the history of football. But its high time we question his ambition for the club. It is healthy if supporters can ask these questions and get some answers.

Look at the facts from 2008. We had a weak midfield, outplayed by Barca twice, last season we were’nt any good against continental teams and Man City(fact). What are the steps we have made to solve these issues? Before 2005 we had solved them by getting the best talent available but why can’t we do this now? In my opinion Rooney was hell bent right in questioning the ambition of the club. Look at the nett spending of the club from 2005 . Its less than most teams in PL and championship clubs like Hull City.
Do y0u people think signing Nick Powell would solve these issues?

There are a lot of issues with the club’s ownership and management. It is hightime people start questioning him. Look at the question’s people like AVB , Mouriniho & Dalglish had to face from press. Just because u are Sir Alex you should not be spared. Last year the transfer excuse was young players like Pogba and Morrison. I am waiting to see his excuse for this year’s transfer.

We need atleast 4 quality signings before we can say we have an ambition of winning every trophy/tournament we are competing for.

  79. King Eric says:

God there are some fucking cunts on here as per usual. Questioning Fergie and Giggsy. Its a fucking piss take. Thats why you like me are on here typing away while Fergie is running United. Makes me sick.

  80. King Eric says:

Question Fergies’ ambition for the club? Is that a joke? Yes I am sure he just wants mid table mediocrity.

  81. Dev says:

    @Ashwinred

    What the fuck?

You’re comparing United with Hull? Less nett spend than Hull, and yet what the fuck has all that money done to Hull? Where are they now?

Are fucking retarded or what? I was going to write a nice long rebuttal, then I realised it’ll just be a waste of my fucking time.

Why don’t you support Barca or Real, since they win everything all the time and piss money like there’s no tomorrow? Or better yet, Shitty, since they enjoy pissing away money at mediocre players and fuck everything up for every one else.

  82. WillieRedNut says:

King Eric – I blame Fergie mate. He’s been so good, that some fans think we should be buying top players every season and winning the league every year. Damn you Fegie!

  83. ashwinred says:

    @Dev

I am just plainly comparing with Hull to point out the lack of ambition we have had in the past years. If I wanted to support Barca or Real I won’t be wasting my time here. This is the only club I have supported from the time I have been born( 23 years) and it will remain the same.

If questioning the lack of ambition in solving the problems we have got in our squad make me a retard i cannot say anything about it. I don’t want united to be like ManCity and buy a title but I don’t want United to become like Arsenal either.

We have not done anything to recover from the 2008 CL loss yet. Please give me any facts that say that United have improved from that time. I cannot see any from the displays against Bilbao and City. Hargreaves and Fletch were supposed to be anchormen and ball winners have we replaced them until now? Hargreaves was finished 2 seasons back and 4 txfer windows have passed.

  84. Sn says:

    @ashwinred

We won the CL final in 2008. We lost it in 2009. Get ur facts straight n stop complaining !!

  87. PRITCH THE RED says:

@All u lot having a go at fergie HE HAS GOT NO MONEY why do you all think those yank bastards are trying to raise cash.I admit these two signings are not going to make city or chelsea shit themselves the only way this is going to change is with new owners. the only thing fergie do is tell us the truth the yank scum cant touchhim because the fans will be after them . we no gill is a fucking liar .We should vote with our feet if it goes pear shape this season.
