Our managers and players were not too impressed with the performance of referee Rob Styles in tonight’s 2-1 victory over Wigan.

Nemanja Vidic spent the first half entirely unimpressed with the ref for not awarding a foul against Hugo Rodallega for what he believed to be a foul in the lead up to the goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo felt enough contact from Maynor Figueroa as he raced in the area, which sent him tumbling before he was able to get a cross in from a few yards out.

Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the players for keeping their cool in light of these “annoying” decisions.

“They were fantastic in the second half in terms of their determination, not giving in, just keep going, got a little break and, at the end of the day, we were the better team in the second half,” said Ferguson. “The first thing was to keep their discipline. The referee was annoying with some of his decisions. You can’t beat the referee, you have to keep him on your side. So keep your mouth shut and play the game, and I think we have proof there. We had to keep patient. I thought we should have had a penalty kick, but we weren’t getting anything tonight. We have done it without any help. We have done it with a fantastic second goal from Michael Carrick and a real gutsy performance.”
