Wayne Rooney is the kind of player you love when they’re playing for you and hate when they’re playing against us. His passion, his drive, his ability and his love for the club all add to why he is so popular amongst our fans, but equally, why he can be so unpopular amongst fans of other teams.
Sir Alex Ferguson has today argued that whilst footballers receive a lot of criticism in this day and age, nobody could argue that Rooney isn’t worth what he’s paid, given the effort he puts in to every game he plays in, whether on the training ground or at Old Trafford.
“He’s blessed with certain ingredients that only great footballers have,” said Ferguson. “It’s the determination and hunger to win every match, every time he goes on the field, every training session. He’s blessed with that and it’ll never change for him. They’re wonderful things to take into football. We sometimes wonder with the criticism about what footballers get paid but when you see that effort he puts in, he’s worth every penny he’s paid because he plays as if he means it.”

Man Utd News 24/7

spot on.he deserves whatever he gets from the club.never seen a more commited and determined player with the winning mentality.i think he was the biggest bargain along with ole and cantona.he gives more than 100% in every game and that is why he gets frustrated.people think he is short tempered and all that crap but the actual reason is he is not happy with his performance.afterall he is a United player and not used to losing games.
u can take or leave it, rooney is a rare gem with exceptional qualities every players long to posses. keep the flag flying roon.

As Ive wrote before on this
(because when you type a million comments over the years on this about how good Rooney is your gonna repeat yourself)
Bill Foulkes said in a program about Duncan Edwards that Rooney is the closest he’s ever seen to “the greatest player to ever play”
what more can i say
Certainly means a lot, coming from Bill Foulkes himself. I really hope Rooney goes on to break Sir Bobby’s record. It is a fairly realistic target if he continues at this pace for the next 7-8 years and sticks around with us for that long, which I think he will.
Id rather the players get all the money instead of it sitting in the Gimps pocket.
i swear by God’s name, last night i dreamt of SAF telling Rooney to score more than just a goal against Wolfsburg, if he is to be considered in the league of Ronaldo, Kaka and Messi.
recently the media has been going on about torres saying he’s the best striker in the world. so where does that rank rooney? torres is great but rooney in my eyes is the better than him, rooney has a lot of qualities that are rare in strikers these days.
