Ronaldo is a show-man, an entertainer, a trickster – AND a damned-good football player. He scores goals in the face of intimidation and derision and little “protection” from referees. Best of all, he plays for UTD and is only going to get better.

It’s a great achievement and thoroughly deserved. One would like to think it would silence the critics for a while, but then deep down we have to admit we sometimes share the doubts about him – his self-regarding narcissism, his flirtation with Real, his diving (less than it was), his tendency to go missing in really big matches, and a suspicion that he’s not a team player in the same way as, say, a Giggs or a Rooney. Having said all that, and admitting he hasn’t yet won a place in my heart like George Best, Denis Law or Bobby Charlton (all of whom I saw many times) , Ronaldo has still provided some of the most intoxicating moments of my 50-plus years of supporting United. He’s still just a kid, which sometimes shows, and he undoubtedly has it in him to go on to be the one of the greatest .He has the skill, that’s for sure, and the physical courage. The Ballon is in his court, let’s hope he now goes on to even more glory with United.

even though he did manage to make our summer less pleasurable(considerably less)..am genuinly happy for the boy..

wonder how this award is gonna affect his mentality.. i cant help but feel that winning these types of awards was one of the reasons he wanted to join real in the first place..i bet he felt he was much more likely to get it if he had signed for them

now that its over n the awards have come i hope he appreciates everything the club has done for him now, we have stood by him after the world cup, against the critics, whenever anyone belittled his achievements, and whenever he was actually at fault.. he wouldnt find this kind of support at any of the other big clubs in europe, especially not from those handkerchief waving muppets at madrid
