Fergie: Valencia Has Been Unbelievable

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the form of Antonio Valencia since his return from injury. In the 16 starts and 20 overall appearances, he has scored 4 goals and assisted 12.

“What can I say about his form? He’s been unbelievable,” said Ferguson. “When he first came back into the fold after his long-term injury I played him at right-back one or two times with Nani in the forward position. Once he got a few games behind him his form has been tremendous. When you get players hitting their best form at this time of season, it’s a bonus.”

Tony V on the wing, roasting Ashley Cole like it ain’t no thing! :P The Beast!

  3. FletchTHEMAN says:

Can’t wait to get both Nani (the mature version) and Valencia back up to speed.
Couple of games with Valencia behind Nani was interesting but don’t think RB is a fair use of his talents.

More thinking Nani on the left and Valencia on the right, even though nani is a bit out of position. Noone can fail to remember that many of Nanis best goals have come from the left screaming into the far top corner. Good memories….

  4. Costas says:

That would be a fair assesment. Fergie denied the story today, but I wonder if at some point he does have to have ankle surgery about that plate?

    @Fletch

Had a look at Buchan’s stats mate. In those 456 games he played, we conceded 508 goals. 1.11 on average. But I don’t think that’s a knock on his ability in any way. United leaked in a lot of goals during those years. Averaging more than 1 per game was normal. All in all, he was incredibly consistent. Missed very few games in his first 5-6 years. I wish we had players like that nowdays.

    Apart from Evra of course.

  9. Dazbomber says:

We will have to sell him next season , just to make it fair . The most improved player of the season. I love it when he sees a gap and excellerats through it then leaves them for dead.

  10. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas, thanks for that mate. Buchan was a beast. Came in and helped us get back up after relegation in 74. Then crucial to FA Cup Final win v Liverpool in 77. Dark days in club history but still good memories for me.

  11. wayne says:

He’s player of the year imo no fluke Rooney catches fire when Tony V starts.Costas have you ever done a comparison Rooneys goal record when Tony V starts on the wing compared to when he doesn’t

  12. LoneStarRed says:

Tony V. is the BEST right winger in the WORLD at the moment !!! His looks of intensity during matches tells me a lot about him. He knows that he is at the height of his powers at the moment. He wants to stay there.

He is “in the zone” , a state of nexus where concentration, physical ability , adrenaline and emotional control meet. Mushin No Shin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushin. Valencia is a warrior in the purest sense. He has learned to achieve total focus and only rarely lets the emotion take him off that razor’s edge of being and consciousness. Whereas Roy Keane was impelled by emotion (usually anger) Valencia understands that emotion can be useful but is deceptive and finite. He has honed his body and mind to a zenith and we are the beneficiaries of it.

His confidence is supreme but humble. Challenge him and he will dispassionately do engage you. And after he has dispatched you he will move on to the next battle. No trash talk, no acknowledgement just focus until the job is done. And then prepare for the next game. His measured strides in walking and his body language speaks of controlling the adrenaline which courses through him. When this man finally rests , he sleeps deeply . His body spent from the twin exertions of emotional control and physical activity.

It is not at all surprising to me that the man he “replaced” Ronaldo also demonstrates the same confluence of mind, body and ability. But there are key differences. Where Ronaldo is ego driven Valencia is humble. Where Ronaldo is first in all things, Valencia puts others before him. Where Ronaldo lives for glory, Valencia lives for something greater than himself. He has looked into the pitfall of ego, adulation and celebrity and chosen to avoid it. I may be premature in saying this but
I believe we are seeing a true great whose achievements will echo in the annals of footballing history.

Anals? Yep he anal raped that Cashley good.

What surprises me most of Antonio is that he came back from an injury that ends/stunts most careers and has become better than the guy he was before it. He has also got over the psychological problems of returning because physically he recovered like Wolverine. The man is the definition of Strength and a Man’s man’s Man’s man’s Man’s man.

    He’s coming for Clichy/Kolorov !

  14. LoneStarRed says:

@Clint Your man crush on Valencia isn’t showing at all.

  16. Costas says:

    @wayne

Hi mate. I tried to look at something a bit different. The amount of goals Rooney has scored when Valencia was on the pitch. Since Antonio joined United, Rooney has scored 78 goals in total. Out of those goals, 45 have come when Antonio was on the pitch. More than half of them. So it’s a good point that Rooney (as well as United in general) clicks better when Valencia is playing.

A good example of this was our win at AC Milan. As soon as Valecia came on, Rooney scored twice.

  17. LoneStarRed says:

    @ Clint Skiddush

  18. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Certainly seems like he was a beast. And I know that they weren’t the best times to follow United (something a huge chunk of the young generation fails to comprehend), but it was also a period of time where a club has some devoted warriors in its ranks.

  19. Mikekelly12 says:

Well said fella. I think this man is making the difference in our title run in! Is it Sunday yet?!

  20. Saad says:

18 touches and then BANG from the central defender to Larnell Cole in that game in the Dallas Cup. Gotta love our reserves. Let’s hope their careers progress to the next level smoothly and un-Macheda-like.

Freakin’ Einstein and his gravitational time dilation crap! Sunday aint getting here fast enough for me. Where’s Captain Kirk when you need him! :S

  22. samuel - united WE stand says:

When united lost the devastatingly brilliant cristiano ronaldo to madrid we were all disappointed.

Signing valencia from wigan didn’t really help bring excitement at all but he really has grown both in confidence and influence at the club. Archetypal traditional wide-man, antonio is as efficient as they come. His style may be predictable (stop, stop, stutter, increase the gear and blast past defenders with sheer brutal force like a rampaging bull that’s been taunted with a red flag) but the inevitable is still far from easy to stop. Of course his physical strength is an asset, meaning full backs won’t only need to stop speed but also stop evident power. He also works hard for the team whilst also having a little versatility to play as a full-back.

He barely smiles so defenders know he isn’t on the pitch to chat about cup-cakes and how curly the hair can be done, he’s there simply to cause havoc, get off it and then ready for his tormenting.

Lastly, his partnership with rafael could be successful if the brazilian can stay fit and continue his development as a complete defender.

I hope valencia continues his outstanding form throughout a season which is far from over even though some have made it out be.

  23. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Costas,
Those times are highly informative on my current perspective. Best off, Law off, Sir Bobby retired. Living on great memories from just a few years back. First CL trophy in the hall. Who could imagine the dark road ahead. Football is cyclical mark my words. Lots of glory fans will piss right off if we stop winning for a few years. Thats fine. Hope I am still hear for a 3rd or 4th crack at the top. My motto is stay positive, value youth, love United!

  24. parryheid says:

You seem to be neglecting the third member of the triumverate who along with Rafael and Tony V have our right side locked up tight.

  25. Mikekelly12 says:

    Fletch
Great motto to live by. I for one won’t mind one jot if the glory hunters fuck off and leave us to enjoy United through thick and thin. However, a few more trophies before then I hope!

  26. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Right, and curse spell checkers!

  27. samuel - united WE stand says:

For all the hype that have surrounded the likes of morrison and pogba, i feel that those that will get more of a smooth transfer from the reserves into the first team will be the ones who not only possess talent but the right attitudes.

Larnell cole is a quality player in the making, you Don’t get praise about your technical ability from scholes for no reason. Cole is little but as modern football shows, physical strength isn’t the main priority anymore. Larnell is technically good, has pace and intelligence, quick one touch passes to glide past opponents, creates and also blast goals in but he won’t rest on his laurels, he’ll want to take opportunities given to him to break through, he has the right attitude to do it and i hope he does along with will keane, michael keane, lingard, petrucci and many more, players with right mentality.

  29. Utd4life says:

The Beast from Ecuador. I have never seen any winger tear apart Ashley Cole(who I hate to admit is a bloody good fullback even though he is a cunt) so convincingly. Like Samuel has mentioned above, defenders not only have to deal with his pace but also his brute power. I still remember how easily he brushed aside Leighton Baines of Everton at OT last year. The guy is a force of nature. We are blessed with 3 really good wingers-Young, Nani and Valencia but of the three I would always prefer Valencia because he is so direct and offers more defensively. The guy is a lot like Scholes in many ways. He goes about his job, works his ass off on the pitch, does not complain about a damn thing, fired his agent as he plans to stay at UTD for the rest of his life. Overall, he leads a very simple lifestyle. The guy is well on his way towards becoming a UTD Legend.

  30. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

  31. King Eric says:

    Love Valencia. Simple as.

Samuel. I agree pal. Its players like Cole and Lingard that will blindside everyone. Welbeck or Cleverley called them Iniesta and Xavi like. Great little players who have been playing together for years and years.

  32. LoneStarRed says:

    @Utd4life 20:50

So true. The man is an unassuming, humble and dedicated force of nature. Imagine how managers who have to prepare for United worry about him. Blackburn put TWO people on him. And both Doublemint twins were thoroughly chewed up and spit out.

What I would say is his strength of character, self control and humility are to be admired. Physically he could have adapted to other sports. His focus lightening speed and power are truly astounding at times. Thankfully he chose football and thank fuck he plays for us . Must be scary facing him at times . I hope he tears one out of city. Scholes on MUTV
“There was a time when we were thinking about City, when we were two or three points behind them, and we were hoping they’d be beaten. But now we have this five-point lead we can afford to just concentrate on ourselves. If we do that we’ll hopefully be okay.”

“A couple of months ago, we would have snatched someone’s hand off at the thought of being top,” “What we’ve done is put ourselves in a decent position to go on and hopefully win the league but at the moment we’re still quite far away from that.

“There are still 21 points to play for and we’re going up against a very good team in City, there’s no doubt about that.”

I still don’t understand how we got demolished by Bilbao, they was streets ahead of us.
In fact, how did we become technically poor overnight?

We was in the CL final last year and now Europa Knock out victims :???:

We’ve only lost Edwin, O’Shea and Scholes temporarily. Was their presence that influential in Europe, perhaps but Scholes barely played last year, O’Shea looked dispensable as usual at the time and Edwin was the best keeper in the world.

So what the fuck has changed? It can’t be being complacent and being over-confident. We went from beating a good Schalke, a decent Chelsea, Marseille and others and did our best to contain Barcelona but was deservedly beat by a greater team 3-1.
We went into Bilbao on red hot form and still got ambushed by kids. Same with the “must win ” Basle game.

This season, even the must wins, we was pumped up for was miserable fails. I think its down to the players. Last year Carrick and Giggs+Park was a killer trio, this year its clueless and not strong enough. The Rooney-Chico duo is 1-dimensional and Wayne spends to much time trying to pick the perfect pass while Chico wanders into the darkness alone.

Evra and Young are too open out-wide, Welbeck can oddly be a loose cannon when he nothings go right. The defence only recently sorted itself out. Rafael, Jones have struggled and shined and lack the consistancy because of age and have to sort out positional play. Clevs progress has been stop-start and the rotation system in Europe has killed any chances of familiarity in systems.

So the players are defo to blame, when are they not ! SAF needs to bring some stability to next season’s campaign in Europe to rebuild some European pride. Perhaps a solid XI and a more wary approach at Home, where we build from the defence and play and when we are Away we do what we are currently doing, which is playing with confidence and experience.

One things for sure, when we return to Europe, we do it with an almighty Bang, remind everyone.. our time once again has come to challenge the Elite like we did in 2007 by reaching the Semi’s………….Or We could bring back Carlos Queiroz ;)

I am only talking about Europe, we’re perfict in the league.

I’m more bothered by the fact that Citeh won’t be going away now. They have effectively become Chel$ki Mk.II. It irks me a lot that they will be challenging for silverware with us year in, year out, but I guess the one good thing is that when we beat them, whether it be to a piece of silverware, or just a game, then it makes it that much more sweeter – like it used to be with Loserpool!

We have the opposite in our ownership  We give, they take, We win, They Take, We lose….they’ll sell for profit….potentially 400% profit on what they “spent of their own money”. Thats some might fine business, oh well its better than a Sugar Daddy 8)

This season has been the turning point in Valencia’s Career. He has always been Better than many but this season he has proved he is one of the best wingers if not the best in the world of football. A great lad who just concentrate on his football. He is a Typical United player.
    God bless ya TonyV

By the way where the Fuck has Nani gone. Is he injured? Have I Missed Something?

  46. Ash says:

    Clint-Iamyourpapii

I feel we have played a wrong Combination in europe this season more often than not. We blew away 2 goal lead against Basle at home which started our downfall in Champions League. We were very complacent in europe and I seriously hope SAF has better plan for next season. And Honestly it has been a blessing in disguise for us by getting knocked out on both the european competition, We have performed very well in the League.

I feel Next season Sir ALex will be targetting Champions ;League. I know we can beat Barca if we Buy one quality Midfielder.

    Morning reds,

    28 hours to Kick off..

    FletchTHEMAN,

in where to put yopur money thread,

i have given you a link that gives a good reading on Buchan..

    Costas,

you are right pal, 70s, 80s we leaked more goals..

so that stat need not necessarily mean Buchan was weak…

but to start so many games just tells you the fitness of the legend..

    Good day reds…

  55. Sandeep1878 says:

Good to see the kids reach the Dallas cup final..

we will be facing Brazilian team Coritiba..

Hope the red machine will overcome the samba boys..

by the way, that Laarnel cole goal against Tigers,

    fucking classy team goal..awesome..

if we want to change our game to more passing, brisk moves and ball posession, it has to start from the kids and it looks right on the money, not just this goal, but i m happy with how the kids are progressing..

and i hope the kids beat Chelsea away to face Rovers in the final…

  56. Sandeep1878 says:

    Costas,

I think the surgery will take place,

I have gone through the recent interview of Ecuadorian head coach and he thinks its necessary…

i dont know the complications of playing with a chip or metal in your leg and i also i dont know if surgery can have good impact the already existing metal or chip..

    FlethTHEMAN,

Playing the Beast at RB would be a waste, especially when he is in the best form of his life..at least for us..

if we play all 3 wingers, then i m sure Nani or Young will play upfront…

but i think Nani wont start the tomorrow game and for the midweek game against Wigan, i think Sir Alex will go with experience in midfield..May be Giggsy…

I think Nani might start the game against Villa and prior to that he might make sub appearances…

Because right now, we cant take out either Valencia or Young, both of them are in top top form..

  57. King Eric says:

Sandeep. Hello mate. Hope you are well. A fine example of the lads clicking and tearing teams apart was in the 4 1 win at Everton a couple of weeks back which featured David Weir and Barclay for Everton. Our young lads tore them apart. I am surprised Tom Thorpe hasn’t featured more for the reserves this season as he was instumental in our youth cup win.captaining the side.

  58. King Eric says:

Sandeep. It will be a tough ask next week at the bridge for our lads. Most of the rentboys are in their second year and are a decent powerful outfit. Wouldn’t write us off however.

God its like the early to mid nineties all over again with sides playing this aft then again Monday night. It would make my season to see Chelsea finish sixth which looks quite possible. The geordies have momentum and the Chavs have a big schedule to fit in. Fucking sixth with the murderers eighth. Fluke season for Newcastle though. Can’t see them doing it next year as we know what a shithouse Ashley is and their will be some offers for a lot of their players this summer. Kudos to the Geordie`s scouts though who have done some right business. Saying that I don’t think Ba has netted since he played us! Cisse looks a player though.

  59. Sandeep1878 says:

    King Eric,

    I m doing good pal,

    hope the same with,

a big hello to wee Tom from ROM ;)

Yeah we tore apart the toffees..

Heard and read lot about this Thorpe lad, hoping to see more of him, tunni, petrucci, cole and keanos etc..

    about this game against Chavs,

    yup its gonna be tough,

last time we had lost there 3-2 after chelsea lead by 2-0, but humped them 4-0 at home with a will keane hatrick and won 6-3 on aggregate..

The thing is we can score for fun, but this time around they have a 1 goal advantage, can be over turned and yeah as u put it, i wont write off the lads,

tight defense or solid attack will take us through..

catch u later pal, gotta a date with my Girl ;)

    good day ROM

  60. Costas says:

Demba Ba has scored 1 in 9 for Newcastle since scoring against us.

If I had to look at my crystal ball, I’d say that Cisse will struggle scoring next season because Newcastle will buy a third 27 year old Senegalese striker in the summer and he’ll be the only one scoring.

No value in the market hey? ;)

    @Sandeep

Hi mate. Cheers for the Valenca info. I thought he was past that problem. Don’t know what he has to do now. Take the plate out or replace it with another one. Whatever the case, I hope it’s something he can do in the summer and it won’t affect his pre season training in any way. The guy’s reaching his peak now and it would be a shame if he had any kind of setback.

“I still think that,” he said. “The fans are a little bit more close to the club here than at City. I have nothing against City and I had a great time there but when I played for City, the stadium wasn’t always full, whereas here, you never see that. Here, the stadium is full even when we play friendlies, so you can see that there is more passion for the club here than there is there”.

Costas. Hello mate. Ha is that all. Flash in the pan pal. Its ok doing it at Newcastle. Would Cisse be good for United? Maybe but I doubt it. Look at the buffon Carrol. Ha. Decent for them. A liability at the dippers. Good player none the less.

Sandeep. Enjoy your date my friend. Nice one. Yes thanks Tom is sound. At his Nannas tonight so going out for a meal then a smoke which I aint had in weeks. Oh we can do the Chavs pal but last years side was special. Tunni, Morrison, Pogba, Lingard, Cole, Thorpe, Brown and Johnston in net. A real quality side. Mind you this one aint shabby. Some damn good players in Blackett, Barmby, van velzen, rudge and that little black dude whose name escapes me. Would love to retain the cup. Looking forward to hopefully Sunderland turning Beetroot cunts mob over.

And Phil Jones and Nani! With that in mind I’ve taken jones and Nani out but left the two blue cunts in! I’ll take cisse out before he plays city so as to lift my curse!!
Way off topic – anyone got any cures for a trapped nerve? Been in agony for a week and the Physio has made it worse and the doc was fucking clueless!

What’s always worked for me is a good warm oil rub, deep tissue stuff just before you go to bed and make sure you keep the area nice and warm all night

Dead right he was, we don’t score many headers from corners like we used to either.

We might not have been the best team in those days but we still played the United way.
    Attack, attack, attack attack attack!

Too bloody right, although we were not challenging for titles we could give any team a game and we certainly were never dull to watch unlike the scousers who were winning leagues but boring as fuck to watch. I honestly can never remember a time when I left OT thinking ‘that was boring’ !

I will give it a go! Cheers pal. It fucking kills. Got to go to a fancy dress party tonight dressed as he-man with my sword arm giving me grief. By the powers of Greyskull my arse!!

Hi mate. Hope you are well. Yeah these players are probably making an impact there because it’s a smaller stage compared to United (or Liverpool where Carroll was found out). But you never know for sure. Andy Cole also seemed like someone that wouldn’t be able to do it on the big stage but he proved people wrong. Newcastle do have a good scouting network though. That’s for sure.

Cure for a trapped nerve is to grow a fucking set and man up.

Great thinking leaving the bitters in your dream team for the lack of goals. Ive had a similar season with form players losing form when i pick them.

I take full responsibility for welbecks current form, Ive dropped him for the QPR game, so put a fiver on a danny hatrick!

  84. MichaelPapoui says:

What about their loan signing? Even if Macheda could play doubt he’d get picked, can’t get a game for QPR, don’t think Hughes rates him?

Yes, that’s the other thing that makes us stand apart from all others, the amount and variety of songs we have. I still love the Willie Morgan one!

check this dumbass of a article out, he was such a coward he did not even allow have comments http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/sport/football/sport-talk-worst-ever-united-sum-up-prem-fa-cup-farce-and-clasico-faux-pas-1-3707498

This as not been a great united side, but 3 or 4 signings to round the midfield off, replace berbatov, and add another defender and we will be flying

Just read it, what an idiot Clucas is, he says ” Manchester City are by far the best team in England”; how come they are not top of the table?

Also didn’t this ” by far the best team in England ” get beaten easily at the council house by United and a poor Liverpool side in both domestic cups.

Simple fact is, whoever is top of the table is the best team.
