United have lost on their past two visits to Upton Park, which was a result we really could have done without today, bearing in mind Liverpool’s flukey win against Portsmouth yesterday.
A great goal from Ryan Giggs meant we didn’t have to hear about Liverpool’s resurgence though, with all attention on us returning to the top of the table and going a thirteenth game without conceding.
Ferguson has stressed the importance of our experience in getting through games like today. It was a perfect ball from Paul Scholes that lead to the great run and good finish from Giggs today, showing these old pros still have plenty to give this club in this season’s title race.
“We felt today, knowing that West Ham is always a difficult ground for us, that we should have the most experience we can,” Ferguson said. “Ryan and Paul Scholes have been here so many times and they know exactly what is needed here. Michael Carrick, Carlos Tevez and Rio Ferdinand are former players here and that also helps actually to handle the atmosphere. It was a fantastic atmosphere and they really get behind their team, and we’ve beaten a very good team today.”

Man Utd News 24/7

was trying to catch a nap an hour before this game but ended up a good long sleep…checking the result is the 1st thing…i’m glad we back where we belong…let’s stay till May
Certainly not a vintage United performance but the fact we won away at Upton Park without conceding again speaks volumes. This was never going to be an easy game but at least we got the 3 points. There are no words left to describe Giggsy but all it takes is one moment of magic. Legend. Enough said. What made the goal sweeter was the ball to giggs from another Legend, Paul Scholes. It is this reason that SAF starts with these two especially in a game like today.
We just didn’t click today but the result is what matters. Ron should have had a penalty. Did you hear the home fans “You shadda doid in the tunnel”? Fuckin horrible disgusting cockney cunts.
Thought it was funny after we scored the fact that Andy “bitter” Gray literally did not speak for about ten minutes. He was fuckin gutted! Ha! Ha!. About a minute before the goal he said summat like ” I can hardly think of an effort on target that Green has had to save”. You spoke too soon ya twat!
By the time the dippers next play we could be 8 points clear. United all the way.
I think it was a solid performance. The defensive foundation is even more solid than Chelsea’s at Mourinho’s first season. If you took away Terry or Carvalho they would suffer. This United side has got 13 clean sheets with 9 different back fours. And it’s not just the defense. When it mattered even Berbatov tracked back. With that being said,i really want us more deadly up front. We have got the record ok?Let’s stop worrying about the defense. It’s very easy to get complacent with this defensive record, not chase a second goal and get equalised by some kind of freak goal.United should only defend heavily after they have got a 2 goal cushion. For example,in our next two home games with Fulham and Blackburn i don’t wants us to grind out 1-0 results.2,3 or 4-0 are always welcome. And since we didn’t have a thread about yestarday’s events, let me say some things.Liverpool beat the worst Portsmouth side i have seen in the Premiership.Calamity James conviniently remembered his bad self in this game as well.Liverpool beat a side with Basinas in it!I am his compatriot and i can tell you that was no big feat. It’s just so frustrating when you see people like Distin and James perform wonders against United but then turn in so attrocious perfromances against Liverpool or Chelsea. Finally,Ryan Giggs forever a LEGEND!
good game today, both teams seemed pretty well matched, both defences are class and it took the genius of giggs to get the only goal. proud to say i feel west ham are no pushovers anymore and on another day, with an extra bit of class in the team and maybe it could have gone the other way. never like losing, but i do like united and happy to get the scousers off the top. united for the title west ham for europe, COYI
Costa s : Re: Dippers, Yeah I know and lanky Crouch had a hand in it aswel with awful back pass. Over on Red and White Kop blog they are convinced that the FA and Sky? have a conspiracy that is to help United win the league. What the fuck? Redcafe have picked up on it to some amusement.
Conspiracy?Who are they kidding?I will not go into the obvious(the Evra ban,the Rio ban,the Manu-Pool match in March only 72 hours after our game with Inter),i will say that United are the only club who have never had a red card decision overturned and had their players punished because of video evidence(Rooney for touching Ben Haim on the cheek in 2005 and Scholes for swinging at a Boro player in 2004).Yet when Fabregas swings at Terry last year he is off the hook. When Gerrard should be sent off against Chelsea,he is off the hook.Sky let them play 2 games before today in order to pile the pressure on.They didn’t have a problem with that did they? Now it’s our turn.We play Fulham and Blackburn at home before they kick a ball again.Let’s see how they react after they go 8 points behind.MAybe we should worry about Aston Villa more.At least they have a manager who focuses on his team and not attacking on other managers.
Another fantastic result, and Van Der Sar can break the record in the next game, which should be a routine win
costas i just want to say that DavidJames was very good in that match and i have no idea what you are basing the judgement on that he was crap. Yeah he gave away a backpass freekick, but it was crouches poor pass that forced him to come out for it, he had to pounce on the ball or kuyt would have probably scored, and if you watch it again you can see that he trys to use his chest but it hits the top half of his arm.
he pulled some top saves and showed great anticipation, it was his defence that let them down. not James
I was cursing fergi for putting giggs on the right in the first half, he clearly wasn’t comfortable there… then giggsy scores with his right foot! class
Was it just me or did anyine else notice that Tevez wasn’t his usual self to-day…..didnt seem to be trying quite as hard as he usually does. I noticed it more last season when s we got beat at Upton park. I think he is a waste of space when we play him against west ham away.
RadioactiveMan “costas i just want to say that David James was very good in that match” I disagree, his attempt to stop Kuyts shot near post with his shoulder was pathetic.
even with 6 defenders starting the match, liverpool still concede 2 goals..what a rubbish team!
thats the end of liverpool been top id say
oh and how underrated is carrick
Thanks for the well-wishes COYI, and the same for the Hammers. I must admit, I was very impressed with the effort and work ethic instilled in your side, you lot had five or six Park Ji Sungs running themselves to death to break up our play. And I think that Jack Collison is a very good player, very composed on the ball and has what looks like an innate ability to play out of tight spots.
And I agree with King Eric, I was furious with Pompey’s effort after saturday and am now hoping they get relegated as a consequence. I agree he doesn’t deserve all the blame cuz I think it was Distin who had an air kick leading up to it, but that was school boy stuff from Calamity on the second goal. And I would like to think that the majority of keepers in the Championship could have easily saved the winner. Granted, La Nina got some good power on her header, but it was right f’ing at Calamity. It almost hit him in the face ffs!!
So, for that effort they deserve to get sent down.
Almost like Helmet Head Cech and his horrible positioning on La Nina’s header at anfield last week. They’re luck will run out…
We beat a very organised confident team yesterday and it’s no coincidence that Steve Clarke joining has had a positive effect on West Ham and a negative one on Chelski.
What a bloody great performace from all the boys, as has been mentioned already, not a vintage United performance but we have three points from what can be a very difficulty game for us. As I sai a few weeks ago lets go for the world record.
glory glory
All you get from the dippers is made up stats and conspiracy theories, and how lucky we are, refs on our side (i’m boring myself now!).
Here are some interesting stats from today’s Telegraph regarding the dippers.
Goals scored in last 15 minutes:
Dippers….15
Everton….13
Arsenal…..12
Villa………12
Man City….11
United…….10
Goals scored 90th minute or later:
Dippers……6
Arsenal……6
Villa……….4
Everton…..4
United…….4
Mind you saying that, this is probably a conspiracy theory from the Daily Telegraph!
i dont see what much else DavidJames could have done to stop kuyts goal. The defence should have cleared it a year ago and it should have never come to that situation, it was a smashed shot from about 2 metres away, i highly doubt anyone would have been able to save it easily
RadioactiveMan: Hear what you are saying but a top keeper should never get beat near post. Schoolboy error.
Also as someone has said and I said this 2 weeks ago on another blog that Steve Clarkes arrival at West Ham and Rentboys decline is no coincidence.
ha ha ha ………….. typical manure fans – we win at pompey and its a flukey win, manure scrape a 1 – 0 at the irons and its “not a vintage performance by united” – they should use you lot for the barclayard adverts ………… your arrogance really is priceless ………. oh and by the way – divaldo looked a happy chap again.
while i’m here “ranting” because that what you lot call a mild mannered factual discussion these days …………… you keep on moaning about us scousers going on about winning the league – its about time you took a good luck at yourselves with your “are you watching merseyside” tribute song (number 3 i think in your limited medley of other clubs songs) ………………. for the record …………… most of us over here are taking it one game at a time. i’ll think you’ll find yourselves looking in the “we’ve wrapped up the premiership mirror” which is why you are the new cheklski fans ………… no one likes you and your glory hunting fanbase.
YNWA (will you be that predictable)
scouse twat..why dont you fuck off you dole dossing sock throwing murdering fuck.
Your’re the apprentice to our alan sugar. We ve won the prem 10 times…unlike you twats…unlike you twats we dont maim and kill or damage other grounds..or throw shit on the pitch….or rely on last ditch flukes, deflections, smash grabs, daylight robberies, and playing v 10 men 6 times this season alone.
We ve got the best attack….best defence…best manager ever…most decorated british player ever….the best player in the world etc etc etc etc. Whilst you have a thug who handed in 2 transfer requests…a guy who looks like that monster out of the goonies and a manager whose ranting at each and everything like a mad fuck. Must be the drip and the hospital visits he’s been having.
You’re the dips who were getting carried away only a month ago and look wha happened. And if it wasnt for your first 2 months 7 games fluke results youd be 8th. We’re more worried about everton than you.
Now fuck off back to your estate and iron that shellsuit with the stolen iron.
