Fergie: We’ve Wanted Jones For Years

Manchester United’s surprise transfer deal of the summer came when we paid £16m for Blackburn’s Phil Jones. With plenty of other clubs circling, Sir Alex Ferguson decided now was the time to buy him, even if the original plan was probably to wait another year or two.

Ferguson has revealed that United have been watching Jones since he was in Blackburn’s youth team, before Sam Allardyce gave him his first team debut.

“Big Sam said we stole him,” said Ferguson. “I was ahead of the game and recognised Phil when he played against us in Blackburn’s youth team a couple of years ago and was absolutely magnificent. I spoke to Sam the next day and he just laughed and said he was putting him in the first team.”

some players are like labradors, once they have committed their loyalty to you, they’ll follow you even to the grave, unless you cast them away. Players like neville, scholes, giggs, beckham, wes, etc. for me despite Jones obvious talent(and he’s only 19), its that loyalty that i suspect he has that i think may have been Fergie’s biggest gift to United before he retires. Unless he gets some freak injury, Jones has at least 15 years of United in him and you dont have to worry about him leaving, you just dont

  6. bayoRed says:

Fergie who are you eying for our midfeild????

  7. RedHound says:

    dont know if you guys saw this story but i’ll post it anyway;

“FOR a few lucky football fans, a visit to the Swansea seafront on Saturday proved a quite unforgettable trip.

At around 12.30pm, the Manchester United squad emerged from the Marriott Hotel for a breath of fresh air.

Rooney, Nani, Ferdinand and Giggs — world famous names all — taking a stroll along the Swansea prom on a warm and sunny November day!

Yet another reminder of Swansea City’s outstanding rise.

While the players tended to keep to themselves, Nani and Welshman Giggs in particular signed autographs, the latter chatting to fans.

Their boss Sir Alex Ferguson stayed within barracks, but did bump into one inquisitive Swansea schoolboy.

Kieran O’Shea, 8, from Brynmill, said: “I was in the Marriott and I met Sir Alex Ferguson.

“He just asked if I was OK and if I was a big Man United fan.

“I told him yes. I then asked him to sign my Match Attax stickers.”

Dad Rob O’Shea said: “We had a tip-off and went down to the Marriott at 12.30pm.

“While we were there Sir Alex Ferguson had just pulled up and was in the hotel foyer.

“He stopped and signed his autograph for my son. He was quite friendly.”

Mr O’Shea added: “Later the team went for a quick walk along the seafront.

“They were obviously chaperoned but they all seemed quite pleasant. The sun was out and the view across to Mumbles was stunning, they must have been impressed by what they saw.

“There were quite a few people about, not hundreds, and they were happy to sign autographs,” he added.

  8. RedHound says:

with that Pogba situation, i think whats happening is what i like to call “The Law of Tom Sawyer”

  9. Fred says:

“I then asked him to sign my Match Attax stickers.” Awww…

  10. RedHound says:

i know right, that kid will talk about that day for years

  11. CedarsDevil says:

Sir Alex has lost the plot…

    (Just saving Moses the trouble)

  12. rohan19 says:

phil jones. he’ll be a true great soon..
him de gea ravel clev tunni are the future… .
seems like the whole media is bigging up city.
saying the titles decided.. now i like that. contributes to our siege mentality…

  13. giggs12gerrard0 says:

Its not suprising given he is now our best player, I am changing my name to Jones1Gerrad0 in May.

  14. CedarsDevil says:

Leeds police have officially banned any type of sexual activity on Sunday nights, the statement said there were concerns that sheep were turning out very late to the fields on Mondays

  15. RedHound says:

i dont know what to call it but the mentality right now is beyond a siege mentality, its a “give them nothing but take everything from them” mentality

  16. rohan19 says:

    jones1gerrard0 is a classic

  17. Costas says:

Poor kid has been wanted for years. It’s probably why he can’t stop running. He’s trying to get away from the stalkers.

  18. rohan19 says:

@cedars :now moses wouldn’t like that

  19. King Eric says:

You can see why . This kid is a fucking right player. A beast . Will be a United star for years to come. His ability far outweighs his age. His performances have been that of a twenty five year old. I bet he never thought for one minute he would feature in just about every league game. Impossible to leave him out. A born leader. Got caught ball watching on Saturday with the Sinclair miss but will learn from that. I love the kid, I really do. As I have said before once he scores a goal he will bag a few.

To think there were some people wondering why the fuck Fergie had bought this kid in the summer.

  20. King Eric says:

Also strikes me as a player that will get few injuries. Hard as nails. Watch me have cursed him now!!

  21. giggs12gerrard0 says:

I would put him in my all time 11, If he cant get a game in defense then I would play him ahead of Ronaldo, giggs, Best, and Charlton in midfield.

w should start a petition for the Jones statue, i am emailing MUST to see what can be done.

  22. King Eric says:

Swansea’s biggest attendance on Saturday. It was also Bolton’s or someones a while back. Just shows the pull of United when they roll up in town.

  23. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Hi pal, Sir Alex is the master of proving people wrong, I have lost count on how times he’s done it over the years yet some idiots and sadly alleged United fans still doubt him …. Sickening

  24. CedarsDevil says:

    United are every team’s cup final, that’s a fact…

    Rohan – Too right!

  25. giggs12gerrard0 says:

Cedars good exmaples of getting it right are

    - Bellion
    - Paborski
    - Tiabi
    - Prunier
    - Djemba Djemba
    - Kleberson
    - Tosic

  26. redindian says:

jones does look like he would be a great player… but i just hope he would stick with us till the end… off topic, what is the latest news about cleverley?? how soon will he be back??

  27. WillieRedNut says:

Jones better watch out….he’s got a stalker. ;)

  28. RedHound says:

i think the view in the summer with all this sneijder talk was “holy christ another defender??” but then few knew what Phil Jones was. and yeah there’s something rocky about him, strikes me as the type to get a sprain, do a rooney and play to the end of the game

  29. rohan19 says:

@giggs12gerrard0 :great example of dodging a bullet is obi mikel…

  30. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Willie

I am sat in his tree now with my night vision at the ready

  31. King Eric says:

    Cedars – Spot on pal.

Giggs12 – Hello mate. Yeah come off it pal. He is bound to make a few mistakes, he has been here 25 years!! Not gonna get everything right is he. Anyway Poborsky looked quality at Euro 96 and Kleberson aint actually that bad to be fair. Tosic is a decent little player but seemingly lacked the balls to fight for a place.

  32. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

Fair enough buddy but when you list the things he’s done right over 25 years your list becomes irrelevant

  33. RedHound says:

there’s something am eagerly anticipating and i know for a fact am 99% correct. Man City’d start to the season has given them the kind of false confidence that you knew they’d get. And there’re not going to be up there at christmas. Am putting this down to two things, injuries, the fixtures and their squad. I dont buy into this whole crap about them fielding two teams. If Kompany is not in there, you get a game like QPR, they are like a cup of china, whereas United is like a cup of iron. We lost Vidic in the first game, Ferdinand later got injured, Smalling has also had his absences, Cleverley the heartbeat has been out like candle flame, Nani has been on and off, but admist all this its still only Five points and second in the league, which is one point more than this same time last season(moreover we’ve already gotten some big games out of the way). Add to that the fact that we’ve already won the total number of away games we won last season. Anyone who doesnt see this as an improvement is insane. Man City have gotten all their hopes raised, but its going to be awful when it comes crashing down, and then you’ll get the papers writing, “Just how does Fergie do it”
I’d bet my life on that

  34. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    KE and Cedars

Come on lads that was tongue in cheek Sir Alex Ferguson can do no worng he is is Manchetser United. I was just joking on the back of Cedars comments.

I though you two would have got my angle, that doesnt bode well for the rest of the readers haha

  35. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Rohan

Mate I consider Mikel as his greatest ever signing 8 million profit and never even managed to make it to Manchester

  36. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

I knew you were taking the piss hence my somewhat gentle reply! hahahaha

  37. giggs12gerrard0 says:

Disclaimer before I get rinsed – My comment above was taking the piss Sir Alex is and will be the greatest manager the game has ever seen, even if he did pay 8 mil for Bebe :-)

  38. WillieRedNut says:

    Giggs12cuntface0 – Don’t mind Cedars mate, he’s kooky for a reason. :P

  39. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

Good thing you’re a regular and we knew you were taking the piss otherwise you would have been rinsed! hahahaha

  40. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Read in the local paper that the Lebanese FA are planning a training camp trip of sorts in Britain, Northern Ireland to be precise, they are also trying to arrange for a friendly with NI…. This is no joke

I really hope it comes off, imagine you and I locking horns! hahaha

  41. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Cedars

Mate I am 30 years old and I have been goimg the games as a regular since I was 12, season ticket holder since 16 and in all that time there has been one man in charge.

    Legend

  42. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – You’re going down, you do know that? Lol. Being serious now, that will be interesting? We haven’t got a manager yet. Should be sorted by January. Not bloody Robbie cokehead Fowler! ;)

  43. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

Hahahaha, no need to explain yourself to me or anyone else my friend, as I said I knew you were having a laugh buddy …..

Anyone who reads your posts and doubts you is a fool

  44. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Based on current form we will whip your Northern Irish asses! LOL The trip is actually some sort of a reward by our FA for the performances of late…. For your sake I also hope its not the white line sniffing cunt

  45. Zibbie says:

    Jonesy!!!! AWESOME!!!!

  46. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Cedars

no mate merely pointing out the magnitude of Fergie as even 30+ year old have never know any different.

  47. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

You’re lucky in a way my friend, I endured relegation under the Doc, then Sexton who I always felt was clueless then the worst of the lot which is cigar smoking Big Ron (Mind I will always thank him for signing Robbo)

  48. giggs12gerrard0 says:

indeed mate to say that at my age is unreal.

  49. RedHound says:

  51. FletchTHEMAN says:

Or you might consider examining some of our fine double and triple and higher winners who come with special meaning in besting Gerrard. For example.

  53. Zibbie says:

    Nice Fletch. hehe

  54. Corea says:

Yeah, it was quite a buy! Excellent player. With Fergie’s influence and right kind of attitude he could be the best, absolutely.

@King Eric – hey mate)) RoM can’t do without the King :-P Nice to see you posting.

If I ever open a pub, might consider putting one up in the garden myself!

  56. WillieRedNut says:

  59. Corea says:

@WillieRedNut – thanks mate. Nice to see you as well. ;)
I am going through a strange patch in life but of course can’t do without keeping track of events concerning our beautiful club.
It will be a difficult season. Great inspiring start but last few games we are back to the last 3-4 years of boring boring football. The good sign is that we are still getting 3 points.
We should wait a little bit more and be patient. Losing it to Citeh must be painful for the local guys especially.

A great week to the regulars on here.

  60. Zibbie says:

Corea, good to see you back.

  91. Fred says:

Alex Del Piero is not only a great player but he is a class act on and off the pitch – and apparently a big United fan too! Here is what he wrote on his website about Sir Alex’s recent milestone:

“Alex Ferguson made his debut in Manchester United twenty five years ago, on the 6th of November 1986. Yesterday the Old Trafford, the theater of dreams, the place where Sir Alex’ dreams came true, awarded him with a standing ovation.

Being in love with football myself, I wish I were there to applaud: in these 25 years Ferguson won 39 trophies with Manchester United but not only, in all these years his name has become a byword for Manchester United. And will remain such for many years to come. I’ve been always honoured to have his team as an opponent on the pitch.

    Happy “birthday”, Sir Alex.”

    http://www.alessandrodelpiero.com/en/news/14700 8)

Here are some more comments he made about our club recently:

“I learned to appreciate [English football] early in my career because of matches against Premier League clubs and above all Manchester United,” Del Piero told France Football.

“I love the way the English enjoy football with passion and sportsmanship.

“I also love the atmosphere, the spirit, stadiums like Old Trafford and the attitude of the fans: what is more beautiful than to see the fans of both teams head to the stadium without any problems?”

    8)

    good night pal

  95. Fred says:

    Goodnight Balaji.

  96. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Fred, Amazing link mate. Great find, thanks for that!

Del Piero has for a long time been one of my faves outside of United; ever since I realized player loyalty to club is something that should be prized in modern day football. My respect for him increased by a lot when Juve were relegated and he and Buffon continued to play for them. In many ways, I have a lot of respect for Juve as a club despite the controversies surrounding them in recent years. Always a European tie I look forward to.

For him to say that shows the values that we share. Amazing player and human being and kudos to him for that.

  97. WillieRedNut says:

Sandeep – Hello mate? I got lucky on KE lol. Costas, Zibbie and Cedars are out looking for smartalex and Kings. ;) They’re somewhere in the jungle. :P

  98. Sandeep1878 says:

    Fred,

    this is Sandeep here,

touchwood of your’s and Balaji is right here roaring in ROM again :)

by the way, last post of the day..

Good night lovely Red Devils :)

  99. Fred says:

  100. CedarsDevil says:

Anyone watching Spurs v Villa? Assou Ekotto’s hair is frigging hilarious

Oh and no I was not involved in a threesome with Zibbie and Costas you buggers! hahaha

  101. Fred says:

Thanks for the tip, Cedars. I’ve just put it on. Looks like I’ve missed a goal though.

  102. CedarsDevil says:

Fred – Decent finish by Adebayor

  103. CedarsDevil says:

Spurs to pip the bitters for second spot?

  104. WillieRedNut says:

    No chance!

  105. Fred says:

Thanks for the info, Cedars. I’m sure Adebayor will give Spurs half a good season, just like he gives all of his other clubs. Spurs up to third in the league and can consolidate that position by winning their other game in hand (against Everton.)

  106. Costas says:

Del Piero is a true legend. But. He was never in Roberto Baggio’s league. 8)

  107. CedarsDevil says:

You have issues Willie, its no secret! hahaha

  108. Fred says:

Spurs don’t have Chumps League football to distract them this year, so they are definitely in with a shout at getting 3rd or 4th spot. It will be close between them, Chelsea and Arsenal.

  109. WillieRedNut says:

You have tissues, it’s no wet blanket!

  110. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

The same Baggio who missed that penalty in 94? Na, pony tail is not fit to lace the boots of Del Boy!

    :-)

  111. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred – Liverpool?

  112. Fred says:

Robbie Baggio, my word. The Divine Ponytail.

  113. Fred says:

Cedars, Liverpool love to raise their game against the big teams, but over the course of the season I think they’ll fall behind the three I mentioned. Sixth place is definitely theirs to lose though.

  114. Fred says:

Big Ade on a hat-trick now. Triffic player, Jeff!

  115. WillieRedNut says:

Bobby Baggio? He’s no Al Pacino!

  116. WillieRedNut says:

Antonia Conte was a favourite of mine. The Italian version of Keano!

  117. CedarsDevil says:

Fred – Ade may be triffic :-) but he’s no RVP! Agreed on your Pool assessment to be honest

Willie – Send them tissues over buddy, I am drooling here! hahahaha

  118. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Conte? Terrific choice buddy…. My all time favorite from Italy has to be Maldini, you simply cannot hate the guy, such a pro and a true gentleman

  119. Fred says:

Maldini, my word. What a legend. 8)

  120. CedarsDevil says:

Speaking of players from other countries I always admired Rummenigge, built like a brick wall, sort of similar to our Sparky

  121. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – Maldini was always in cruise control. Effortless! That Milan team of the 90′s were brilliant.

  122. CedarsDevil says:

Willie – Speaking of that Milan team how about Van Basten? Bugger got fucked with injuries but what a player, such a joy to watch….. Remember his goal vs Russia in the Euro 88 final? Bloody hell

  123. Fred says:

And speaking of Italian football, let’s hope Napoli can get a win tomorrow night against the Champions League minnows from Stockport. That said, a draw would not be terrible, as long as Napoli beat the pointless Villarreal in their final game, and Bayern Munich get at least a point at the Etihad Stadium.

  124. Fred says:

Stunning goal, Cedars. 8) Thanks for the clip. :)

  125. CedarsDevil says:

For those who do not know, the assist was from an ex United player, Arnold Muhren

  126. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – Remember watching it mate, then going out to try the same thing in the park. It did not go well! Flawless volley, that Van Basten goal. World class player. The Dutch had a bloody good side then? The same tournament, they took england to the cleaners. 3 1, I think.

  127. CedarsDevil says:

Fred – Pleasure, Van Basten was so good that I would put him in the same category along side the likes of Best, Maradona, Pele and Cruyff

  128. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

It was 3-1 Van Basten hat-rick! Best moment of that tournament for me was when Holland beat the Germans in the semi 2-1 No guessing who got the winner!

  129. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

TonyBee – You mentioned me Ex, pal do not do a JT on me, I hit that every morning, she carries my bastard child….Cor Blimey Geezer mate, I think I picked up Malaria from her in return. Anyways if she had voice box transplant, I’d stalk that bitch.

I hear Diana Ross is playing at Left back tonight for Spurs, Heskey is a lucky lad if he can tear her new one.

    Adebayor, Adebayorrrr,
    your Dad washes elephants,
    and your Mums a whore.

(Spurs fans sang this last season, then condenmed arsenal fans this season for racism #hypocrites)

  130. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – Norman Whiteside said, that Arnold Muhren could open a tin of peas with his left foot lol.

  131. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

I was lucky enough to see Muhren live and he was class…. speaking of Dutch football I believe they had their golden years in the 70′s, when Ajax won three European cups on the trot… some argue that their national side in 74 was the best they ever produced with the likes of Cruyff and co but for me the team of 78 were something else….. Still though, 2 finals and 2 defeats!

  132. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus does not believe the Premier League is as strong as the domestic competitions in Spain, Germany and Italy.

“In Spain, Germany and Italy there is a big technical and tactical input in every match,” said Jesus ahead of Benfica’s clash with Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

“The English league is a good league but compared with Spain, Germany and Italy it is not so good.”

Jesus does claim MANCHESTER UNITED are a class apart given their outstanding form in Europe over the last four years, during which time they have played in three finals.

    “They are different,” he said.
That is the reason why they have won so much.
Manchester United have different ideas and a different history. They show that on the pitch.
They are much stronger technically this season.
They keep the ball quite well and in almost every match they have 60% possession compared with the other team.”

  133. CedarsDevil says:

By the way Big Norm is someone I always loved in a United shirt, fucking nut case he was but he was OURS!

  134. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – He was a hard nut mate. Played at the world cup, when he was only 17! Northern Ireland could do with another Whiteside lol.

  135. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Was the youngest player to do so at the time if I am not mistaken? Just younger than Pele I think

  136. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – Not sure mate? I thought someone broke his record? We need Costat on this! Lol.

  137. FletchTHEMAN says:

@Clint, That would be the team with Carrick, Vida, Rio shoring up the defense I feel.

  138. CedarsDevil says:

His record may have been broken but I remember it was a record at the time…..

By the way, you guys may laugh at me but I would not mind Stillyan Petrov at United, hard as nails, decent passer of the ball too

  139. Fred says:

    Norman’s record still stands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup_records

Youngest ever player in World Cup qualifying game – Souleymane Maman for Togo, a 13 year old kid!

Apparently he signed for us in 2003 but was sent on loan to Antwerp, then returned to us on trial this year. :? I missed that whole thing.

“Mamam returned to Manchester United on trial in August 2011, and played in a friendly for the club’s reserve team against Morecambe on 1 August; he was substituted in the 53rd minute by Jesse Lingard, who scored the team’s second goal in a 2–0 win. He then scored after 11 minutes of the reserves’ next game against Llanelli at Parc y Scarlets on 8 August, but was substituted in the 58th minute.”

His amazing record is disputed as well:

“Official FIFA records appear to indicate that Mamam was born on the 30 June 1987. However, various websites, including the official website of Royal Antwerp, cite 20 June 1985 as Mamam’s birthdate, which would mean he was in fact almost 16 when he played his first match for Togo.”

Oh, and he’s an attacking midfielder apparently. Could be just what we need…

  140. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred – You beauty

  141. slim says:

    CedarsDevil

    You’re right. I’m laughing

  142. WillieRedNut says:

Big Norms record still stands. ;)

  143. slim says:

    Fred

Souleymane who ? I’ve got to check that one out, never heard of him.

    Clint-iamyourpapii

Jesus is right, at least i agree with him, Not sure however if that makes other leagues better than the Premier League

  144. CedarsDevil says:

Fuck me, my memory is still in check….. Brilliant stuff by Cedars!

  145. WillieRedNut says:

Cedars – Petrov? I’m waiting for the punchline? :D

  146. FletchTHEMAN says:

Spurs 2-0 v Villa FT, Villa just rolling over. Tough to watch.
    Spurs with 70% possession1

GaryNeville just purring over Modric. Hmm, just don’t see it myself. Gets dominated by anyone playing 4 in the middle. Good player make no mistake, but not my cuppa.
Bale is good as well but just gets owned buy really good fulbacks who get in on him.
But Spurs are doing well. With Friedel might just have some spine. They are 3rd place with game in hand. Don’t see them staying there but playing well at the moment. Good for spurs.

  147. CedarsDevil says:

No punch line fellas, I think he is a terrific player!

  148. WillieRedNut says:

    Still waiting…..

    ;)

  149. slim says:

    FletchTHEMAN

Reckon Gary knows a top footballer when he sees one and i tend to agree with him, He is a class player. Every player gets “owned” from time to time. The good thing about him is when he isnt being “owned” he put other big players to shame with his quick thinking and clever inventive ways on the ball. They(spurs) are indeed playing well, marked improvement from last season if you ask me but early days still, see how they get along

  150. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Modric is a class act

  151. CedarsDevil says:

Would fit in in the dippers midfield perfectly! hahahahahahaha

    there you go

  152. slim says:

    WillieRedNut

Lol, no punchline, just funny as is. Cedars right though he’s a tidy player but not much to rave about in my opinion, shame he’s 30+ if he were a young player there’d be loads of room to improve

  153. CedarsDevil says:

Modric is pure shit, in the words of King Eric ‘Mincing goofy snood wearing cunt’ Pure class

  154. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Jesus is back ! He’ll save us tomorrow, im going for a 2-1 win, difficult game its gonna be tough.
This is why I never try and moan about Carrick, the guy has been crucial to our sucess and brought stability to our midfield for years.

Remember the Hargo vs Carrick battle for top spot, well they both started  alongside Scholes we had the best midfield that year. Carrick is perfect for the role we ask of him. He may have lost his killer shot (yes that sliced placed shot he used to do) & reigned in his foward movement but thats to bring balance and discipline to our team.

Remember Carrick vs Chelsea Match 1,2 & 3 ) CLASSY FUCKER, had lampard chasing shadows and essien made to look like a bull without balls & horns.

Like SAF said, we get through Christmas with the help of Jesus,Santi & Liverpool ;) We’ll be in a great position to claim 20th.
Shitty’s toughest games are all in the hardest month, pool will fall away as usual,Chelsea are a joke,Spurs are triffic, they’ll push us all the way and Arsenal….well …..

  155. WillieRedNut says:

Before people start blowing spurs….i heard the villians were rank.

  156. FletchTHEMAN says:

Slim, Agree about your G Nev comment. Knows about players. The primary reason I am back to watching Monday Night Footie is down to Gary. His analysis is really spot on at times. That lad is as smart as a tack. But he does go out of his way to praise these days, part of why he has the job probably.

    Cheers mate.

  157. FletchTHEMAN says:

Willie, They were mate. Just stood around watching from what I could see of the second half. Bit pathetic to be honest. Given was the best player by a margin.

  158. CedarsDevil says:

    Cheers mate!

    I am such a cunt

  159. slim says:

    FletchTHEMAN

yeah, probably has to tow the line a bit but you can be sure he won’t go on about a player if he can’t really back it up or doesn’t mean it. I doubt you’ll hear him singing Andy Carroll’s name to the high heavens even if he score a hat-trick, But if you’re handling your business hard as it may be for him especially if its a player from pool or cittay he’ll give the necessary props. Something a lot of pundits and fans find very difficult to do

  160. CedarsDevil says:

    slim

    bonne soirée mon amour

  161. WillieRedNut says:

FletchTHEMAN – He played 6 defenders lol. Sounds like big Eck was scared shitless of Spurs pace.

  162. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

@cedars we dont often disagree mate but modric would walk into our midfield

  163. FletchTHEMAN says:

Clints comments got me thinking of what’s wrong with Chelsea. A favorite topic mind.

Think we should start thinking our best piece of transfer business was the 12M? we got for John Obi Mikel.
Kid has really lost a step this season.

  164. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

With SAF around its impossible to predict a starting line up, I’ve only got two right in the last 2 years.

Im going for a 2-1 win.
    With;

    De Gea
    Fabio Rio Evans Evra
    Valencia Carrick Fletch Young
    Rooney Welbeck

    Bench: Linda,Jones,Rafael, Nani, Giggs,Chico,Berba

  165. WillieRedNut says:

We sold Mikel to Chelsea for 12 million. Bought Carrick for 18.5 million? Not bad business, that. ;)

  166. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    @willie

He did Hutton was playing right wing, herd who is RB playing CM, then of course the agile heskey up top

  167. CedarsDevil says:

    Giggs12Gerrard0

You may have a point buddy, but at some level I am not convinced with him…. I know I go over the top with my comments, he is a decent player but in my opinion not who we need

  168. FletchTHEMAN says:

Fergie doing the Benfica Prematch presser:
Praising Nani saying he is growing into his game and growing into being a united player.

Re Benfica: recognizing the history between Benfica and United. Great rivalry to be respected.

PS, REF is Cüneyt Çakır from Turkey ( an insurance agent from Istanbul ) Has about only about 12 elite games but seems a strong ref. Oversaw the 1-1 of a Rubin Kuzan v Barca in 2010 CL

  169. WillieRedNut says:

Giggs12 – Ultra negative lol. We’ve got Villa in a few weeks time. I’m sure they’ll do their usual cup final performance against us.

  170. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Never rated Obi wan Mikel – looked ok in his debut year but looks out of his depth for Chelsea. Reckon he would have been average for us aswell. You never know SAF could have turned him into something great but whatever …… can’t be bothered 8)

I wonder why we don;t have many african players in our team. Is it because of the African Cup of Nations :???: Based on past buys, we don’t have much luck.

Manucho Goncalves was a funny one.
Mammy Biram Diouf is a reserve legend
Evra is senegalise but plays for France.
    Erica Demba Demba ……
    Fortune was good?
Nani is from Cape Verde…sounds scary doesn’t it ? but he plays for Portugoose

  171. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

You are so hilarious, always love your posts buddy

  172. slim says:

Cedars – oh dear, should have paid more attention during french lessons. :-) anyway same to you too, i reckon if it sounds nice it must be nice

  173. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    @willie

I know mate I’m going villa park its one of my favourite away grounds. I miss our semi final trips there I fucking hate Wembley.

  174. CedarsDevil says:

    slim

Just showing off, google translate helps hahahaha second language in my country so I have to stay on my toes!….

    Good night my fellow reds

  175. King Eric says:

Cedars. No mate. Modric isn’t a mincing cunt. That is that greedy cunt Nasri. Modric had a decent game tonight but Villa were fucking shocking. Worst Villa side in years. Still not convinced by Luka. Tidy little player but lest we forget he wanted to be a fucking rentboy and not leave London. No room for players like that at United imo. Let him stay in the smoke. Spurs wouldt take forty million for him so pointless even thinking of him coming to United. Someone summed him up a week or so back. He would be another Spurs player who would divide opinion at United. I tend to agree. Fuck those greedy bastards I wanna see Ravel and Tunni and Tom running the show in the next couple of years. Even Jonesy in there. A midfield two of tom and Tunni would be top class. Tom the guile, Ryan the hardcase. Sorry lads but I have no time for these greedy fucks.

    Cedars. Petrov. Seriously?

Del Piero was top drawer and caused us many problems in the nineties. Always liked the old grey lady Juve.

  176. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Thanks Cedars, I enjoy the posts written by your alter-ego = MachedarsDevil ;)

  177. FletchTHEMAN says:

KE completely agree. Modric is a tight little player, but not in the same league as world best and likely to be found wanting v CL sides. Never done much v us. Anyone looks good when the opposition is standing off ya 15 yards and watching. Villa were dross.

Can’t stand transfer window time. Everyone on here plying their flavor of the month.
Goetz won’t come, he wants the virus. Next!

WhereAreTheyNow: Whatever happened to TheFly? Guess the WeeWes debacle turned into fly paper

  178. King Eric says:

Suffice to say credit to Spurs who play some good football.

Big of Mancini to say comparisons to Barcelona are premature. What the fuck is this bollocks? How the fuck can they compare these cunts who have won one fa cup despite spending three or four hundred million to Barca who have won la liga last three or four years and two european cups. Its a fucking piss take. They beat United in a freak game and suddenly they are a bigger club than United. Its a fucking insult. Come back when you have won nineteen leagues and three European Cups. The media fucking love them. First on motd with silly fucking Liam gallagher montages. All over the fucking radio. United will have caught these cunts come christmas.

  179. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Don’t write off Le Flee – Fletch
Im 100% sure, we’ll get Sneijder for £38m this Jan. ;)
    The Sneijderman Chronicles shall continue

I just hope we Cabaye someone by next summer, just to freshen up the midfield and add some creativity or bite to our midfield. At the moment I don;t think there is a player that exists that can battle in a midfield 2 and roam the pitch pinging balls to our speedy stars. I don’t see us changing to a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 to accomdate a player or to follow suit of other teams, for us its tradition to be 4-4-2- or 4-4-1-1. The CL is another case ( you have to be flexible).

Scholes is getting closer to my personal greatest player of all time for United as each week passes.
I miss watching the Ginger prince so much. I love the little fella, was a hero to me.

    My Top 5:
    Charlton
    Scholes
    Giggs
    Robbo
    Cantona

Hard to leave out Best,Law Vida, keano,Sparky,Ole etc

  180. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Clint.
One of my bourbons is 140. Do we have to half everything in life ;)

    100% eh

  181. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    King Eric –
The cunts would love it if United could be toppled.
Look back to the past decades they (the media) love the fall of the greats, so they can stick the knife in and send us packing into history books and myths.
Manchester United has been the most dominant force in 2 decades now, the manager still rules the league and we continue to win trophies despite being underdogs and written off every year since 1970.
They loved it when Sir Matt left and now cannot wait for the collapse of United because we have been a thorn in their side for so long. SAF still punishes them pussies like bitches and they can’t stand it. Their flies & Zippers will explode open the day SAF retires. The Greatest is the most envied.

Every year it has been “we are on the cusp of a dynasty collapsing”. They wanted Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool to do it, they failed miserably. Now for City. Bring it Orrrnn !

    We Will Never Die !

  182. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    I add Blackburn,Leeds,Newcastle. *

Fletch – Personally I prefer the Bourbon Biscuits.
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/Cup_of_tea_and_bourbon_biscuit.jpg
Gets me through 9-5 days

  183. dannysoya says:

BAHAHAHAHAHA @sandeep Your post about transfers is one of the best and funniest posts on her in a while. Tom cleverley already on madrid’s radar up till 2015? LMFAAOOOOOO!!!! news agencies are funny as shit, LOLLL.

  184. NBI Red Onion says:

Jones in my bones. Reminds me a bit of becks somehow. Congrats to Becks for MLS Cup, about time he had another youth league trophy, let me also say he played extremely well for Galaxy in MF, I wish we had him at United his passing has only gotten better he could be our quarter back and our forwards would die for his passes his distribution is still world class and he reads the game incredibly well. Good wingers and Becks pin point passes in the middle just what we need. He could not play every game, but is younger than Giggs and has a few years left. He is now contract free.

FERGIE SIGN HIS UP, FERGIE FERGIE SIGN HIM UP!!!

  185. Sandeep1878 says:

Good morning Lovely Red Devils around the world,

    Happy bday Chris Smalling,

    he is now 22 :)

  186. Sandeep1878 says:

    Papii,

    hello pal,

Regarding your prediction 2-1 for tonyt’s game,

i dont think we will concede mate,

i m going with a 3-0 win to us, its time we scored more than 2 goals..

with Carrick back, RIO, Vida regaining their fitness, confidence and grit, i highly doubt conceding against Benifica, but this is football and Basel hit us with 3 at OT :)

i want a clean sheet and i m sure we will get it :)

  187. da silva's mutisya says:

3-1 win .hop ando starts.i want him to doctor da midfield.
    my squad will be

    linda
    fab
    vidic
    evans
    evra

    young
    ando
    fletcher
    valencia

    rooney
    welbeck

    subs
    de gea,fryers,jones,carrick,pogba,chico

  188. Jeet says:

Vidic is suspended, Evra most likely out with illness and Ando out injured. Don’t know if Young is ready to start. So,
    Linda
    Jones Rio Evans Fabio
    Nani Carrick Fletch Park
    Rooney Welbeck

  189. Jeet says:

    seems like a virus or a trojan…

  190. Jeet says:

    Hello, hello, hello…..
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
    Is there anyone home?

  191. kanchelskis says:

    Hi Jeet,

I’m here! But looks like that’s it at the moment.

There is no pain, you are receding.
    A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon…

What’s that link that Champ19n posted? When I saw it wanted me to d/l something, I shut it off. You think it’s a virus? Who is this Champ19n bloke anyway? *suspicious*

  192. Jeet says:

    aaahh…Signs of Life :)
yeah, mate – i tried opening it and it seemed to run some script off a zipped file….highly suspicious!

  193. Jeet says:

And to think its a European night today at OT….I was expecting this place to be buzzing. Sorry lads, but that’s right disappointing.

  194. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    Sandeep, Hey there

3-0 would be perfect but Benfica are always a tough team to play against. Pablo Aimar,Oscar Cardozo, Javi Garcia they got some really good players, we might have Evra missing, plus Vida is suspended, Giggs might not play 90 mins. We have injuries and I can see this being a tough one.

Fucking Basil fc, that was a bad game for everyone.

  195. kanchelskis says:

    @Jeet

Probably some no-mark bitter or dipper trying to send a virus round Utd fans. What a gimp.

It’s a lost cause trying to second-guess Fergie’s line-ups these days, but what do you reckon we’ll see tonight? I think:

    DDG

    Jones
    Ferdinand
    Evans
Evra (I know he’s sick but he was on the weekend too and was fine)

    Young
    Fletcher
    Carrick
    Nani

    Rooney
    Hernandez

  196. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Morning buddy, I was only taking the piss by suggesting Petrov my friend….

Jeet – Feeling lonely are you? haha

    Morning all

  197. CedarsDevil says:

Tonight is a must win to guarantee qualification but it does not guarantee top spot is Basel also win their game…. We would need to avoid defeat at Basel to ensure top spot which is vital in my opinion

  198. Jeet says:

@kanchelskis: Fergie will play Evra unless the latter is so sick that he can’t get up from bed. Lots of injury concerns. That frigging never-was red card for Vidic complicates matters no end. Don’t know if Young is ready to play 90 min TBH, but if so, he’s a cert. Me sceptical about Fletch these days – the lad never fails to put in a shift, but it’s clear as day that he is nowhere close to his best. I’ve got a feeling that Park will start – either in the middle, or on the left. It’s probably his type of game too – need some reliability and ankle biting out there. I predict a nervous 1-0.

  199. kanchelskis says:

    CedarsDevil

I can only think of one slight advantage to going through in second, and that is … wait for it … the possibiltiy of facing Barca.

I know that sounds bonkers, but hear me out.

I believe we stand a far better chance of beating them over two legs than we do in a final. They’d still be favourites, but at least we’d be able to have the tactical clarity of a home leg and away leg – doing our best to contain at the Nou Camp, and playing more on the counter at OT. In the two finals against them, we’ve lacked a unity of purpose – it’s the typical tactics-out-the-window thing that you get in finals. At least with the home/away structure it would be more obvious how to approach the game. Hell, it worked last time we played them over 2 legs (albeit they’re a slightly better team now), and Arsenal and Madrid both came close last year over 2 legs (both hampered by unfair red cards).

Plus, if we were to get them (and beat them) in the last 16, it would be a huge confidence boost for the rest of the competition.

Bring on second place! Bring on Barca!

  200. Jeet says:

@cedars: Yes, my friend…nothing much to do at work (I’ve given up!) and I always get very excited AND nervous about CL games. The place was quiet as fuck…thank god for kanchelkis!

  201. CedarsDevil says:

    kanchelskis

Not bonkers at all buddy! Only way to get second in to win tonight and lose at Basel, but Basel have to also win tonight. As for Barca we actually have a very good record against in two legged ties so I agree with your point. Personally though I could not give a toss whether or not we do play them or not, I want us to do well in the CL of course I do but for me the priority will always be the league

  202. Jeet says:

@kanchelkis: frankly, I would be out of the Cl in the 2nd round, rather than lose in the final. No point in all those midweek matches and injuries. So, I see the perverse sense of your point. And you are right, 2 leg against Barca might be a better proposition. Away at Nou Camp, just pack the MF with jones, fletch and park. Damn…makes me feel nostalgic for a Scholesy screamer just thinking of such an eventuality! :(
But in all honesty, mate, I’ll take top of the group any day :)

  203. Sandeep1878 says:

    Hello papii,

my bad, i had forgotten Vida’s red card :(

anyway i hope we play a tight game, defensively we should play as an unit,

as u pointed out, yup benfica too have good players,

but i just hope we play high tempo, coz when that happens, the opposition doesnt matter to us..

Hope young starts along with Smalling..

    @ kanchelskis,

    hello pal,

The same thought was going in my head,

not that we are afraid of final game, but it would be great if we get barca over two legs..

    that would be tricky..

and i hope we beat them and get that mental edge, which seemed to be lil low in the last 2 UCL finals..

  204. CedarsDevil says:

Bloody hell, that last post of mine was full of typos! Stupid idiot

  205. Jeet says:

@Sandeep: Smalling not sufficiently recovered for today…boss says he will be available for Newcastle

  206. Jeet says:

Go on, blame it on the nurse…

  207. CedarsDevil says:

I wish I could, she’s does not come round anymore…….. sniff

  208. King Eric says:

    Morning

Cedars – Thank goodness for that mate about Petrov!!!

  209. King Eric says:

Benfica unbeaten in 20 games. Tough prospect tonight and I cannot fucking go just incase our lass goes into labour. Missing tonight, Newcastle and Wolves games. Next home game will be fucking boxing day. Interested to see how Gaitan performs seeing as though Martin Fergie has been watching him by all accounts.

  210. King Eric says:

Sandeep – Hello mate. Thanks for your kind words last night. Loved your transfer round up yesterday. Quality.

  211. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    Good Afternoon ROM!

@Cedars, When was the last time you had a typo-free post.

@kanchelskis, Interesting thought-process. Nearly everyone on here after the CL final agreed that United stood to have a better chance over a two-legged affair and that is true. I would want top of the group anyway.

Tough and typical European game today. I fully expect 3 points anyways but it isn’t going to be easy by any means. Normally, I would say OT will turn up because Old Trafford on European nights has always been special, but that hasn’t looked like happening for the past few months.

  212. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

I wish your Mrs all the best my friend, I hope all goes well and do share with us the moment you first hold your new born…..Had any diaper changing training yet? For me it just came instinctively, I remember holding the wee thing over the basin and giving her a wash then a change of diapers when she was just 4 days old, never practiced or any thing, I just got stuck in!

  213. CedarsDevil says:

I think OT will rock tonight, its Tuesday, its cold so hopefully there will be hardly any tourists at the East Stand…

Balaji – Well spotted hahahaha! Now piss off you bugger! :-)

  214. Sandeep1878 says:

    Jeet,

hello mate, hope he will play against magpies then..

    King Eric,

    welcome buddy, any time :)

    Hope you are good,

cacth u all in coupla hours,,

    good times

  215. Jeet says:

@KE: Wish you all the best, man. I know you said something like mid-December, but babies have a habit of popping up early. Take care, and stock up on some sleep – you’ll need it!
@Cedars: Naah, no need for practice on babycare – came instinctively to me as well. But I will tell you this…not even watching a lifetime of United heartstoppers could have prepared me for the tension when they wheeled my wife into the OR. Most tense one hr of my life. Luckily a mate came along and rolled one for the nerves – helped some :) My wife loved the whole procedure – says the anesthesia gave her a pleasant high :)

  216. CedarsDevil says:

Balaji – Just sent you an email my friend……

  217. jim says:

    @Kanchelskis
Brilliant point, we have just lost 4 of the 62 CL games played at Old Trafford. Quite incredible having played so many tough opponents in the CL.

  218. CedarsDevil says:

    Jeet

I will share with you the tension I went through those years ago my friend….My ex wife in a different country, baby not due for two weeks, I planned my flight and then I got a call from her saying she has to deliver today due to some complications! Nothing packed from my end, I was out of the house with only shorts and a T shirt on, drove straight to the airport like a mad man, had to endure the pain of waiting 4 hours for a flight, smoked about 2 packs and was on edge like fuck during the flight…. Just made it in time to see her coming out of the ops room…..Most tension filled day of my life!

  219. Jeet says:

@Cedars: I dodged a bullet there…I had a business trip to China planned 2 weeks before scheduled delivery, and when we told the doc about it he absolutely put his foot down on it, much like Fergie admonshing a reserves player :) And what do you know, junior popped up just when I would have been travelling!
But seriously, that one event in a man’s life has got to be the most tense, but also the most joyous….

  220. CedarsDevil says:

RoM Not just a United blog, but also a place to share experiences! hahahaha

    Love it

Jeet – It is indeed my good friend

  221. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    @Cedars, Replied my friend. :)

Look at all you guys, makes me feel young. :P

  222. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Cedars

are you in the East Stand mate? I am in East Stand so if your are anywhere near section 239 you will no doubt have seen or heard me :-)

  223. CedarsDevil says:

To be honest RoM for me is the best online community, I do not do facebook, twitter etc. This is the only place I post on, I do not even go on the forums…. Just recently I have placed a few comments on Cyril’s AOF as its hilarious…

No where else I would rather be than among United fans.

  224. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

I am currently about 2000 miles away from the East Stand haha! When I was a regular during the 70′s and 80′s it was always the Stretty for me…. Since then I try to fly back every 2 years or so for a game and only get tickets at the East Stand. Hoping to make a trip in March, health permitting of course

  225. Jeet says:

@Balaji: you don’t know – my wife has a 35 yr old colleague with a teenage daughter! And dont you worry – your time is gonna come!
@Cedars: detest FB and twatter…only RoM for me too

  226. CedarsDevil says:

RoM – Also a place for match making! hahahaha

Balaji – Sent back a response buddy

  227. RedManWalking says:

King Eric – Congratulations! Haven’t been on here to read the posts for some time now. Happy to see you back. Software development takes a lot of your time. I haven’t slept in weeks now.

Cedars – Hello mate! How are you?

    And Hello to everyone else…

By the way, any chance Morrison will play against Benefica?

  228. Jeet says:

Signing off for now…laters, lads! May Busby be with us. Glory, Glory!

  229. CedarsDevil says:

    RMW

Great to see you here again my friend! I am well thanks, as well as can be!

    Jeet – Take care buddy

  230. giggs12gerrard0 says:

    @Cedars

NO worries mate, listen if you ever need tickets let me know it is like ticket master in my house for home match days. Face value as well mate :-)

  231. CedarsDevil says:

    giggs12gerrard0

Hahaha, cheers for the offer my friend, appreciated….. To be honest if I do make it in March I would love a chance to get into the West Stand (Always be the Stretty for me) just to pay homage, would be some sort of a pilgrimage for me! hahaha

  232. RedManWalking says:

@Cedars – Just remembered! You were telling me about a book on United you loaned out to a friend, months ago. You haven’t told me the name yet. Got it back?

  233. CedarsDevil says:

United is my religion and Old Trafford is my church

  234. CedarsDevil says:

    RMW

Terrific memory! hahaha… Ya I got it back here it goes

Only teams interested in him are teams desperate for publicity not a quality football player

  236. CedarsDevil says:

Tributes on the back of the book….

‘ I dare you to open it without reading it all the way through’ Giggs

‘ Will teach you all you ever wanted to know about managers, players and history of Manchester United’ Law

‘If there is anything you want to know about the club, then I will be surprised if this book does not answer your question’ Ole

  237. WillieRedNut says:

    @STR

Any chance of a new thread? It is match day, after all? This is a big game for United. While my heart tells me, United can win any game……I am slightly worried about this one. Benfica are not to be taken lightly. The big plus for me, is our impressive home form in Europe.

  238. RedHound says:

Phil Jones has blown 130,000 pounds on a new Aston Martin, God if i was earning Rooney money i’d get me a Bugatti

  239. CedarsDevil says:

I do not work for the publishers by the way! Its a great book though and a must read

  240. CedarsDevil says:

Aston Martin? Fuck my life, some guys have all the luck! At his age I dished out 600 pounds for a totally fucked up beetle, crashed it after two weeks! hahahaha

  241. King Eric says:

Thank Cedars my friend. I will let you all know once he is born. Thanks again mate.

  242. King Eric says:

Cedars – Yes mate. Practiced putting a nappy on a fucking teddy bear!!! Piece of piss.

  243. King Eric says:

Jeet – Hello mate. Thanks alot for your kind words. There have been so many on here and its very nice to see. Great community despite the cunts that rock up from time to time. Thanks again pal.

  244. King Eric says:

Balaji – How old are you mate out of interest? I put you in your thirties??

  245. King Eric says:

RedManWalking – Thanks alot mate. I am going through posts one at a time then commenting. Perhaps I should read the lot THEN post!! Problem is I will forget things if I don’t type right away. Thanks again pal.

  246. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Pleasure my friend…. But a teddy bear? hahahaha I mean for fucks sake! Hilarious stuff

Nothing like the real thing which I am sure you’ll soon find out… Again all the best

Now where is that noncey goofy snood wearing cunting cunt? RoM classic

  247. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@King Eric, Oh God no, I am just 24 mate. It’s funny you say that though because people who see me for the first time think I am in my thirties as well because of this huge moustache I’ve got going (it’s a South Indian thing).

  248. King Eric says:

willie – Spot on mate. Its as though we don’t have a big game tonight. Tricky fucking game this one but think we will get the win. We did ok out in Benfica but under pressure for last 20 minutes or so. Need to come out of traps tonight, none of this tentative bollocks. Do what we did to Munich two year back or Schalke last year.

  249. King Eric says:

Balaji – Huge Tache!! Ha superb mate. Only 24? Put you as older than that mate by your posts. I have a Tache going on at the minute for this “Movember” thing. Its fucking hideous.

  250. King Eric says:

    Right back to work.

  251. CedarsDevil says:

King Eric is one of many reasons that got me hooked here, a true RoM legend he is

  252. King Eric says:

Cedars – Thanks alot mate but we ALL play our part on this blog!!

  253. CedarsDevil says:

Under age kids are not allowed to post here after 8! hahahahaha

  254. RedHound says:

God almost everyone on here has kids, need to get me a kid

  255. CedarsDevil says:

Now all we need is Costas for the love orgy to commence ! hahahaha

  256. kanchelskis says:

    King Eric says:

I was just going to say the same RedHound, What the fuck have i been ding with my life. Would never have guessed Cedars had a kid – it is quite stupid to assume otherwise i have say, never met the fella so why would i think that. KE is expecting as well.. Told him he’s gonna get his kid on the Sir Alex’s birthday. That would be stuff of legend. that said i’m sure he doesn’t want to wait that long, poor missus would be pissed as well no doubt.

  269. King Eric says:
