If the teams around them win their games in hand, Liverpool will move down to 7th in the league, 5 points behind Spurs and City, 4 points behind Villa and 4 points above Birmingham.
Darren Fletcher has today said we shouldn’t let Liverpool’s dreadful season, which saw them crash out of the Champions League at the group stages and struggle in the Europa League, fool us in to thinking our match on Sunday will be an easy one.
“It would be very dangerous to think this is a poor Liverpool side coming to Old Trafford because they are anything but,” said Fletcher. “It would be a huge mistake to think that Liverpool are not a threat. They maybe haven’t had the season we expected after last year but they are still a dangerous side. They are still in the main the same team. We know what they are capable of and pushed us all the way and dished out that defeat here and the one at Anfield this season. They are still fresh in our memories. Liverpool still have a lot to play for because they are battling for fourth spot. They are capable of beating anyone. We have to learn the lessons from last year’s game. The warnings are there. If you are not 100% focused and you make mistakes they will punish you. It is a real surprise to me they haven’t been up with us. But they will still be fired up to win at Old Trafford again.”

Man Utd News 24/7

Well said Fletcher. I really think we should put the dippers in their place.
lets hope we can do it this time and vidic manages to stay on…the last few games against the dippers the lads just havent turned up, hopefully its different this time and we can do it, especially with a great crowd and then bring on the rent boys
they will be fired up because it is their cup final..
Come on lads. Let’s humiliate them this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for Fletcher to grab a United-Liverpool tie by the throat!
for me, this is the most important match of the season.. We need revenge.. I am tired of liverpool”s fans saying that “forget your 3 straight league title, because for the last 3 encounters, manutd lost to liverpool, 2-0, 4-1, 2-0″ I am sick of these.. They are of course my own friends who supported Liver Fools and i told them, “fuck ya”.. Fuck Liverpool… Revenge..!!!!!
alot of the fellow mancunian here, including scott blew their top when we lost to leeds in the FA cup. For me, it was the earlier season lost at anfield. fucked me, was totally gutted. for the leeds lost, my consolation was we had quite a few young players starting the game, but not that anfield lost. i remember we will on a roll then. everybody, including myself expected to stuff those fucking scousers. but…….we played shit that day.
anyhow, looking forward, totally agreed with fletcher. form book usually doesn’t count a great deal when we play loserpool. We need to be on top of our game.
So……..Come-On United!! Bulldoze our way to number 19th!! Fucking crush those fools along the way!
Ill take any sort of win. after being overfconfident and getting a drubbing thrice i kind of fear sundays game. Liverpool players really get stuck in and dont allow us to pass the ball freely. It has worked well for them in the past. the absence of fletch in thiose defeats may mean something. Hope he keeps stevie me in his pocket on Sunday.
Also i fear Torres now.his pace and direct running causes vidic and rio problems.Some people are very confident on Sunday. I am nervous and despite their poor form fear the dippers
As of 17 Jan 2008, the head-to-head matches between Manchester United and Liverpool goes:
Man Utd wins – 23
Liverpool wins – 14
Draw – 13 … See More
Our 3 last encounter:
Liverpool (2)- Manutd (0)
Liverpool (4)- Manutd (1)
Liverpool (2)- Manutd (0)
Its gonna be a bloodbath encounter.. We trust you Fergie..
Yes the Pool will be thinking this is their Cup final!!! The only and only Silver(lining)Ware they can get this season. But once we break this with the victory, we would have no worrys. And apart from the rivalry its the league positioning thats important a win here could give us confidence to progress well..
hope rooney kisses the camera after jamie “the rat” carragher gets send off for celebrating his own goal too long
@Its Quite an Obsession
The first defeat from Rafa was 2-1, not 2-0. Unless we are starting to earse Tevez’s goals from the record books.
I know what you mean. In my opinion, once Quieroz left, Fergie chnaged his tactics for the Liverpool games. He decided to take it to them. But in these 3 defeats, we didn’t have a strong midfield in order to do that. Hopefully, with Fletcher around, it will be a different story. But I still feel that this time Fergie won’t go with 4-4-2 against them.
Sensible words from Fletch, the main things is we are mentally focused and tough and up for the battle royale it will probably be.
This match means everything to the bin dippers, let’s send them weeping back to their foul pestilent dens of iniquity after the match, we are due a good win against them and hopefully we’ll do this on Sunday as a win for United will, other than the pionts, give us a tremendous psychological boost for the run it, which is going to be hardcore anyway.
4-4-1-1 think this would be the best formation or like we played at the bridge(formation),we’ll see hes always up for surprises
Hope we stuff them.
Fear no one!
Yes, respect whoever we play, but keep focussed on our strengths not the oppositions.
Fletch manages to say the right things again, surely a captain in the making?
Off topic:
The press are all over TNSSO this morning about how brilliant his tactics were etc.
Yes it was a good performance by Inter but they essentially copied SAF’s tactics at the Bridge earlier in the season. As you will recall, only failing to take our chances and a shocking decision awarding a free kick deprived us that day.
Maureen’s milking it today but he simply copied what the REAL special one did earlier.
Vida, You know how much that I like you as United’s Player … BUT This game .. you better be focus .. no slip, no misjudge no running over by he/she Torres.. stick him like a glue .. if you have to do something stupid .. make sure he has to be carried out of the game.. OK..
“As of 17 Jan 2008, the head-to-head matches between Manchester United and Liverpool goes:
Man Utd wins – 23
Liverpool wins – 14
Draw – 13″
Yes because football was only invented in 1992 of course.
This game is just MASSIVE. Thinking about it gives me butterflies. A win will be incredible, a loss will be soul destroying… football at it’s most intense. I cannot fucking wait!
If Vida gets sent off for a 4th game in a row, I am going to pull my hair out!
We must win this match, there’s no way we can lose to the scum for a third time in a row. I’m glad Chelsea went out last night karma’s a bitch JT.
@Costas
Careful mate. You may even have to do it because vidic struggles against strikers with pace
Off Topic
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23816166-john-terry-crashes-out-of-europe-then-crashes-into-a-security-man.do
think he really didnt know he hit him? will JT be get done with Hit and Run hahaha?
@AIG
Hi mate. Yeah, he does have a problem with pacey strikers, but some of the yellow cards he has got against the dippers have been unnecessary. If he stays focused and he and Rio work together well, he won’t see red again.
Well said Fletch, sincerely hope we stuff the scum. The points are absolutely crucial, and frankly, I don’t think I could stand another loss to that lot.
Off topic but the great British lion’s not having a great few weeks at all is he?
http://goal.com/en-gb/news/2557/news/2010/03/17/1836960/chelsea-captain-john-terry-questioned-and-breathalysed-by-police-
Couldn’t be happening to a more deserving lad
@Costas
Hi mate. Sorry for the manners. Should have said hi earlier
I think rio and vidc looked comfortable against him in both the games in 2008 but since then rio has lost some of his pace. Also we did not have a midfield enforcer like fletch or hargo in the last 3 games which we lost to protect vicic and rio.
In the 2 games we won in 2008 we had hargo in the 1-0 win at anfield in a 4-4-2 formation and played a 4-5-1 in the 3-0 win at OT.Since then though we have always played a 4-4-2 without fletch and hargo and it has affected us.
I love this attitude.Not taking anything for granted.Complacent and lacksidal attitudes have no place here and that’s a very good thing.
Even after we beat AC Milan,Fergie told us to not get carried away remember?
@AIG
No worries. I forget to say hi all the time. Some good points. Also, in 07-08 Ando played both games against them and he was very good. Nothing like his performances last year against them. This time things are different.
I was looking through the goalscorers against Liverpool in recent years. It’s amazing how many defenders have scored. Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Johnsen, O’Shea, Rio and even Wes Brown. Could it be Vida’s turn?
@Costas
yeah. Vida could be in with a chance. With liverpools zonal marking system he has evena greater chance. However the standard of our set pieces this season has been awful so i dont expect that to change on Sunday,
How about an Evra or a Rafael screamer, or a Gary Neville goal. what are the odds on that happening?.
Spot on Fletcher but if you turn up and perform like United can do we should be much too strong this time around. The fact Fletcher will be playing this time is a huge advantage.
I see the media are calling Mourinho a genius for his tactics last night. He employed practically the same tactics that Fergie did earlier in the season. Pushed up on their full backs and prevented them getting forward. The bottom will fall out the Rentboy’s season now. They had huge hopes of winning in Europe but they are just not good enough. Big overhaul needed in the summer while Fergie is 5 years in advance already with the young players coming through and ones he has brought in. Expect United domination for a while yet. Genius.
aig – hello mate. We need to be wary but no need to “fear” them, we are Manchester United, fear no cunt. Fergie wouldn’t nor would the lads. I just think Fletch will be the difference this time and will piss the midfield battle . The lads know that win all their 8 games and they will create history. They are due a betaing this time and I just cannot see past a United win.
its in my blood – hello mate. Sorry just seen your comments on Mourinho’s tactics. I posted before I read the comments. Sorry pal.
@ aig
id take an evra screamer…..he really deserves a goal 4 his hard work and consistency dis season…GO PAT!
@King Eric
Inter adopted the same tactics as United did in November, but the difference was they had Sneijder and we had Ando and that made the difference.
@King Eric
“We need to be wary but no need to “fear” them, we are Manchester United, fear no cunt.”
Spot on mate….respect…NO FEAR!
And if karma would have it, maybe Saint Steven will give away the penalty from which Rooney will score the winning goal!
We fear no one… Midfields were the main difference everytime we face them in each of those three matches we lost in. They stop our passing play. And that girl torres, hope vidic fuck em.. Fletcher can make the difference…!!
Btw, i’ve been reading this blog since 3 years ago and never drop a single comment.. I love to read Scott’s post and all commenter and of course regular commenter like costas, king eric and ghht surely caught the eyes of the readers.. LOL….
No more arguing. Kill Loserpool. Destroy them from the face of the world. Steven Gerrard is a criminal
@Red sam http://www.tribalfootball.com/ mariga did us proud.
Sorry Red sam! Something about mariga. http://www.tribalfootball.com/inter-milan-record-breaker-mariga-has-no-man-city-regrets-708111
@AIG
Ha! The only thing that would cap off Pool’s misery is if Gary Nev scored against them. Evra is long overdue a goal too. I forgot to mention SIlvestre. Two goals against the dippers in 2004.
@King Eric
I have to give credit where it’s due. Mourinho had a very good game plan. I don’t know how similar it was to our performance at the Bridge in November. It was more like a rope-a-dope. He weathered Chelsea’s attacks at the beginning and then came back at them in the second half. During the first half, I thought he was going for 0-0. Even the attackers were given a game plan about how to defend. When we played at the Bridge, we went straight at them for most of the game.
Anyway, Chelsea are in a sticky patch for quite a while now. Normally, I would say that we should overtake them any minute, but we have our own mountain to climb. And I will reiterate that the game against them is harder now. Look at the worse case scenario. We play at Barcelona or at CSKA on Wednesay night and 60 hours later we host Chelsea. It’s challening and we can’t exactly rotate 11 players. We will see. I hope the draw does us a favour.
@Its Quite an Obsession
Thanks mate. You should post more often though!
@Costas, aig: Sorry to bring it back up after a couple different comments – I would love it if Vida hammers one into the back of the net. But sadly, our setpieces have really dissapointed me this season. Nani’s corners never seem to get past the first man/ man on the post, and short corners irritate the hell out of me. All that power in the air with Vida, Rio (and now Wazza), and we waste it by banging balls into the wall or straight at the first defender… it’s come to the point where I don’t see a corner as a scoring opportunity anymore!
@ZD Red
Yeah, good point. These days, Gary Neville comes closer to scoring a goal with his left foot against Milan, than Vida does of scoring a header against Wolves. For me. the problem is that apart from Ryan Giggs, no one else has a good corner kick in them. Vida’s only goal has been from a Gibson corner kick, but he isn’t a regular. Nani used to deliver good set pieces in his first year.
I predict a lot of yellow and maybe a red card for pool. mascherano or stevie me will not finish the game.
The Fascists Interest in Rooney has cooled. I wouldn’t hold my breath though….
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1258597/Difficult-Wayne-Rooney-deal-pushes-Real-Madrid-Manchester-United-Chelsea-target-Sergio-Aguero.html
Not only is this their cup final, but it’s a massive game for us as well. We need every point possible in the run-in. Should be a cracker.
HAHAHA JOHN TERRY YOU TWAT !! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8572727.stm
MORE REASONS WHY THIS CLUB IS A SHINING EXAMPLE OF HOW TO BEHAVE! WELL SAID FLETCH, LETS GIVE THEM A LESSON!
@ stretford ender
i was just laughing at that on the guardian website mate, fucking classic
A joke to get us in the mood.
Two Scousers riding along the East Lancs Road on a motorbike. They break down and start hitching a lift. A friendly trucker stops to see if he can help and the Scousers ask him for a lift. He tells them he has no room in the wagon as he is carrying 20,000 bowling balls but will take a look at the bike for them. He tries everything he knows but is unable to repair it. Time is getting on now and he’s late for his delivery so he tells the Scousers he has to leave. “R hey lad” they say “gissa lift”. The trucker once again explains that he has no room as he is carrying 20,000 bowling balls. The scousers put it to the driver that if they can manage to fit in the back will he take them and he agrees. They manage to squeeze themselves and their motorbike into the back of the wagon so the driver shuts the doors and gets off on his way. By this time he is really late and so puts his foot down. Sure enough PC Plod pulls him up for speeding. The good officer asks the driver what he is carrying to which he replies, “Scouse Eggs”. The policeman obviously doesn’t believe this so wants to take a look. He opens the back door and quickly shuts it and locks it. He gets onto his radio and calls for immediate backup from as many officers as possible. The dispatcher asks what emergency he has that requires so many officers. “I’ve got a wagon with 20,000 Scouse eggs in it – 2 have already hatched and they have managed to nick a motorbike already.
As George Bush once famously said, Terry is a first class asshole.
To bring you all back down again, can all of you who have been giving Oliver Gill a hard time because of his dad please stop it. Are you going to have a go at Rooneys dad because his a fucking scouser. Or should I have a go at you lot because Manchester is the biggest reason Labour are in power and the voting practices of your parents for the last decades. Young Oliver is a United lad who has got a promising future all those that boo him aren’t United fans and should have their fucking faces filled in for being in the wrong stands. Take your Taiwan Norwich City scarfs off or Fuck off. P.S. where has all the raised green and gold money gone? I presume from all these sales MUST will chip in and help the Glazers make a worthwhile signing for the club, can’t wait.
Costas – I hear what you are saying regards the Chav’s game. Isn’t there a chance we could be at home first leg though? Fergie has done this for nearly 2 decades mate, got the best out the squad domestically and in Europe.
GoatinaUnitedshirt – Spot on about Gill mate. All the money frrom the G&G will be in the street vendor lad’s arse pocket.
“If the teams around them win their games in hand, Liverpool will move down to 7th in the league, 5 points behind Spurs and City, 4 points behind Villa and 4 points above Birmingham.”
Isn’t it 5 points behind City, 4 points behind Spurs and Villa?
Spurs have one game in hand and a 1 point lead on Liverpool. City have two games in hand and trail Liverpool by 1 point. Villa have two games in hand and trail Liverpool by 2 points.
Of all these teams I hope Villa or Spurs will take the 4th place (perhaps not a big surprise).
Happy Saint Patrick”s Day everyone!
This game is more important than just the three points. I still remember the 1-4 at Old Trafford…it makes me sick. We need revenge. We shouldnt build games up like this into cup finals cos it changes the dynamics but its impossible to do so. This game means nearly as much as winning the title, its pretty much the same as winning the title. If we can trounce the Scouse then it will give the lads the oomph to go on and storm to the title.
King Eric – I may do the unthinkable and the propaganda the media have done on uniteds financial situation. I still hate the glazers they are scum but the debt has gone down and maybe now we may see this debt payed off.
Look at the chelsea babys, they whine about the decisions gone against united last night, look at stamford bridge they should thank their lucky stars that victory they had over united has kept them top for so long, when in reality united should have won that game atleast by 2 or 3 goals. I feel united for a lot of the season did not believe they could win the league and the way they were playing was showing that, if united showed more belief about 4 or 5 months ago we may havhad a gap about 5 pts, it seems now that belief and hunger is back that they can win the remaining 8 games.
the premiership title is sill by far the holy grail for united, fuck europe its the premiership whoch has to be won.
@King Eric
Of course there is mate. That would be the ideal scenario. Play at home on Tuesday and then host Chelsea 3 days later. Not doubting Sir Alex. But in these situations, something always has to give. In 07-08, we played Barca twice as well as Chelsea all within 6 days. And Fergie rested a few players at the Bridge because he could afford to do that then. Now? It depends how the table will look on the morning of the 3rd of April.
Goatinaunitedshirt – Spot on mate. The debt issue propaganda is all the media can point to as negatve for our club as the favored Chelsea and liverpool are not living up to the media’s preseason predictions and united have moved on comfortably since the sale of Ronnie. All you hate mongering hooligans bashing teenage boys should think about moving to Liverpool where such behavior is acceptable.
a bit off topic……..
who knows of / or who has some good united tatts?
cos i’m think of getting…
a massive munich memorial covering my back PLUS…
busby, charlton, best, bruce, robson, fergie, giggs, schmeichel, scholes, gary, beckham, keano, ole, rooney and WHEN ronaldo comes back…
i’ll get him too
covering my leg and torso / ribs….
anyone got any ideas / examples?
Little off topic….
Just read today that the G&G protesters are picking on Oliver Gill in our reserve games and even booed when his name was read in the speaker system against Fulham. What has this 19 year old kid done to deserve this? Yes he’s the son of David Gill but I think this is not appropriate and shows lack of class and maturity. Let’s protest the ownership of the club fairly and keep the boy, Oliver Gill, out of it. He hasn’t done anything wrong!
and the king of course….
@ gudjohnson… absolutely agree. and ps… why gudjohnson the blokes crap…
Terry hit and run shocker !!!!
Terrys broken a Chelsea security guards leg with his Chelsea tractor. Fucking lol. He probably wanted to fuck the security guys missus, he quite rightly said no as Terrys got the clap so Terry broke his legs.
It would be nice if we draw to INTER MILAN in CL and show the RENT BOYS (CHELSHITT) how to beat Mourinho and his team, and beat the rent boys 3 days later… no need to think a lot about the Liverpool game…
They’re still fresh memories for me too! Give us some nice new memories for Sunday night, ones that involve lots of goals flying to the scouser’s net please Fletch!
Agreed. The kid has done nothing wrong. We may disagree with David Gill for his stance, but let’s not bring it to the kid, he’s innocent.
Costas – Is the game on a fucking Saturday lunchtime? I thought it was Sunday. I hate those early Saturday kick offs. Surely they could schedule it for the Sunday which would give us an extra day. I really can see Blackburn getting a point or 3 on Sunday. Their home form has been good of late.
United must win on Sunday, 3 defeats in a row to the dippers is not good enough and 4 would be utterly incomprehensible.
Get stuck in lads
@jandsdad
I thought it was 3 in a row but it would be 4 in a row, but your right we can’t lose to these cunts again.
@King Eric
Yeah mate. It’s on Saturday April 3rd, 12:45 kickoff. If we play the first quarter final on Tuesday, it’s ok. But if it’s Wednesday and an away tie on top of that, it could be challenging to recharge the batteries for Chelsea. And we can’t reschedule it for Sunday for 2 reasons: 1) I doubt Sky will allow it. 2) Chelsea will disagree.
no problems….
we are goin to batter chelsea and liverpool in quick succession…….
@fullard – Gudjohnsen is Icelandic, I’m Icelandic. He used to be the biggest football star in Iceland when he was at his best. Now he spends most of his time on the bench, he needs to lower his club standards to get some minutes. Have no idea why he chose Spurs instead of West Ham this year, I guess they have leather seats at White Hart Lane.
Scored a memorable goal against the Leeds scum, too bad he was playing for the rentboys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh7bpGZGSqA
I have a feeling Gylfi Sigurdsson at Reading will be our next Icelandic “star”, young kid and shows lots of promise. At least he knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup this year. Perhaps I should change my nickname now that you mention it…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwUmQZI7ias
Anyways, enough of that shit and back on topic. I think we’re gonna win on Sunday and put pressure on Chelsea who are away against Blackburn. Let’s hope Big Sam can do us a favor…

Scouser a sinking ship.
This made me giggle!
