Fletch: Nowhere Better Than United

Darren Fletcher has reiterated his commitment to Manchester United.

“I can’t imagine being anywhere else. For me there is nowhere better than United and if I can play my whole career at this club, I’ll be a very happy man,” said Fletcher. “Everything about the club from the fans, the facilities, right through to the structure is just fantastic and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else – and there is something very special about staying at one club for your whole career. Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are all legends at Old Trafford and to get anywhere close to that would, for me, be a real achievement.”

He speaks in cliches but, dammit, I love this guy – what a trier ! He might not be the most skill but he is Darren Fletcherinho (football genius) and I’d sure like to have him cloned.

  2. Gudjohnsen says:

    Fletcher – top class!

  3. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Fletcher needs to add one more thing to his game in my honest opinion. . . . . . . . . . an armband

  4. Gary says:

You have to love Fergie’s love child, Fletch. He’s been a great servent to this club and will continue to be.

  5. willierednut says:

Didn’t even need him today, but he’ll be a big player for us this season.

  6. Costas says:

It was the first time in 2+ years that we won a game against one of the big 4 without Fletcher starting. That’s how much he has meant.

  7. cantona7 says:

    scott i dare you..

i dare you to make a competition who can find a word to describe Rooney’s assist for the goal

    you wont find a winner

  8. Lanaya says:

they should add a black and white picture for fletch on the man united’s legend section. Fact

This story just won’t go away, roll on the 1st September.

  10. cantona7 says:

    @willied in the article there’s a sentence

“United are said to be desperate to sign a star from this summer’s World Cup.”

That sentence alone is enough proof of a media playing things up. Desperate? lol

  11. Kal says:

Let’s play a game…jog your memories to about five or six years ago. Fletcherinho was been dumped on by most of us. Great to see how he has developed over the years. Just consistent now…Ando should take a page out of his book.

  12. Always Be Closing says:

@Lanaya – what do you mean “fact”? You sound like a prat. Fletch is a great player but not a legend yet, that’s reserved for a time in the future n

  13. willierednut says:

cantona7 – The bottom line mate is SAF could have killed this story today, but he chose not to.

  14. Sketch says:

Fletch is a great player. Will play a key role this season.
Correct me if im wrong, but it seems to me that we havent been able to keep a clean sheet when Smalling is on the pitch..
Our attack is sorted, and our defence is solid, just slightly worried about our midfield tbh. One more signing could be quite useful.

  15. dazjoe says:

Fletch, your joining the list of legends son, just keep doing what you do best. We love genius at this club; Best, Cantona, Charlton, Giggs, Ronaldo; but we also bloody love a player who gives his all no matter what, and you, while not blessed with their ability, are up there with Robson and Keano when it comes to getting stuck in and fighting for the cause.
    Love it

  16. Fze123 says:

Offer Fletch a 10 year contract extension.

  17. JONATHAN says:

FLETCHER…………….. WE KNEW HIS VALUE WHEN HE WAS RED CARDED VS GUNNERS TWO YEARS AGO , AND WHEN WE HAD TO FACE BARCA WITHOUT HIM . . . WE SAW A GREAT DIFFERENCE, EVEN ROONEY AND RONALDO , COULD NOT MEND IT . . . LOVE U FLET.
    U ARE OUR NEXT CAPTAIN

  18. Jay says:

Fletch is fast developing into one of our many legends. bring the title back to us, Fletch

  19. Toms says:

Fletch is easily one of the first names in the lineup every week. Honest to god, if he continues like he did last season it won’t be long before we can call him Utd’s Gattuso. Not to mention, he seems to have picked up a nose for goal.

  20. Kings says:

Off topic, great to see Brown snubbing that cunt Capello. Even better seeing Carrick walking past him, prompting Capello to ask him why he didn’t call him, as he was under the impression that he was injured. Scholes walked past him and made a point of avoiding eye contact. Hopefully other United players will follow suit. Shock, Rooney got booed by the Chelsea fans with his every touch yesterday, the same bunch of cunts who will be singing his name if England qualify for the Euro 2012.

  21. Brio the Red says:

    Fletch deserves the armband.

  22. Jeet says:

Fletch is great, I just shudder to think what our last season would have been if he had got injured as well.

By the way, am I the only one getting a bit worried about our defence? I mean, if Rio is knackered, we dont seem to have any back up to Evans-Vida for the big matches. Players like Torres, Drogba, Klose, Olic are going to PUNISH Smalling, and let’s face it, Wes Brown is not the best. Don’t mean to be harsh on Smalling, but I feel that he is just not ready yet for the big stage. Defenders take a lot of time to mature and he isn’t there yet.

In an ideal world, we should try and sign 3 players – a CB, AMF and DMF – the last as back up for Fletch. Not gonna happen, but we all dream, right?

By the way, was Lampard on the pitch yesterday? Funny, I thought he was resting?!

  23. King Eric says:

It was encouraging that we controlled the centre WITHOUT our new Robbo. Love Fletcher. United through and through.

  24. aig alex is god says:

Was a good workout for the lads yesterday. As Giggsy said though the result means nothing when the season starts. We are better prepared then Chelsea but with games against West Brom, Wigan and Stoke early on i cant see it affecting Chelsea. The signing of Ramires will help too. Will be another tight battle between United and Chelsea. Too close to call.Think City and Arsenal will get the remaining Champions League spots

  25. singh says:

hey just want to say tat there s a private league only for united fans on the fantasy premier league site….
the code for the league is 922667-218680….

so please join the league nd lets support our players by selecting them as much as possible……
nd hope we hve a year agn like 1998-99 nd 2007-08…..

  26. RedScot says:

@Denton Davie “He Speaks in Cliches” Care to explain what you mean.?
I just love to hear what he thinks and says about his peers and the aura and professionalism around the team.
To me is just someone to look up to and admire.
    Darren Fletcher ***

  27. willierednut says:

denton davey – What footballer doesn’t speak in cliches, apart from Keano of course.

  28. practicalkat says:

There is something to be said for loyalty to one’s club. You are a true Man. United man Fletch!
