Fletch: Roy Made Me Who I Am

Following our humiliating 4-1 defeat at Middlesbrough in 2005, Roy Keane had a massive rant on MUTV, ripping apart so many of our players for their attitude and performance.

Darren Fletcher was one of those players and the opinions of Keane were reflected by most of our fan base. Fletcher wasn’t good enough, and as far as we were concerned, was never going to be good enough.

Of course, we have been proven wrong since then, as has Keano, but Fletcher has today attributed the high standards set by Roy as the reason why he is the player he is today.

“I think I’m the professional I am now because of Roy,” said Fletcher. “He made clear the standards expected of a Manchester United player. He drilled that into you and that’s the thing that stayed with me. If you didn’t do something right, Roy would criticise you. If you did, he’d praise you. People never saw the praise side of things because it came quietly – a word in your ear.”

    Thats the way it should be. Glad Fletcher listened. Too many prima donnas in the game today.

  2. jamiemufc1974 says:

    keano’s fuckin magic! fletch is the player he is today cos of him, no doubt about that. and i’ve been given a big fat piece of humble pie to eat cos i was 1 of 1000′s urgin the gaffer to get rid! darren fletcher….football genius!

  3. Fze123 says:

    Legends inspire younger players who then in turn become legends. If there was a Keano in every football team, football would be much better than it is today; at least, mercenaries wouldn’t exist.

  4. Costas says:

    Well said Darren. He could be the key to our League campaign. Tomorrow it will be the first time Fletcher has played in a final in 5 years.

  5. TonyBee says:

    me too in eating humble pie about Fletcherino……thought he was not up to it….what the fuck do I know eh

  6. themufc1999 says:

    Roy Keane, Dennis Irwin, Noel Cantwell….makes me proud to be a Cork man.

  7. willierednut says:

    Roy keane’s a legend and darren fletcher is on the road to becoming a legend.

  8. berba fan says:

    keane is a true united legend take no shit on or off the pitch.united have a great history of such players. styles,crerand,charlton,robson,keane……………and maybe fletcher still has a bit to do but is getin there

  9. Mr Santos LUHG says:

    Who were the others singled out in the interview? I remember Richardson and look what’s happened to him. Fletch listenened and put in the hard work and is reaping the rewards. FOOTBALL GENIUS.

  10. 20legend99 says:

    D.F.F.G.

    And I too must eat the humble pie. I never thought Fletch was gonna make it. But that’s why Fergie’s running the team and I’m just watching them, eh?

  11. arun says:

    no doubt fletch has grown a lot..becoming an influential player now..now thats called keano effect..fuckin greatness from gaffer and keano

  12. Mahesh says:

    completely off topic – but I just took a look at our’s and arsenal fixture list to come, again. And now more than ever its clear that, forget Chelsea, we just cannot afford to drop any more points. Arsenal actually have me more worried than Chelsea. That run up for us looks absolutely terrible compared to Arsenal’s to the extent that I don’t expect Arsenal to drop any points at all. Wow, this is getting nerve-wracking!

  13. kel says:

    I still miss Keane. He was such a leader. Everyone fear of him and he brings together such a squad and play his best match in the CL semis 1999 when he knew he was suspended from the final.

  14. redscot says:

    Braw Laddie Darren,Full of guid Scots’s Trait’s hardworking committed unselfish and a proper team player and humble with it.Keep up the great work Loon.Yer a Star*

  15. bchilds says:

    That doesn’t surprise me, Keano was a hell of a captain.

  16. willierednut says:

    1 1 gooners

  17. Costas says:

    @Mahesh

    Hi mate. On papaer they have an easy schedule. But they have to go to a few grounds where teams are fighting for their lives. Arsenal struggle in those situations more than us and Chelsea because they can’t impose themsleves in the same manner.

    Today’s game at Stoke is one example. I hope they can hold on, given their game in midweek.

    PS. Did I see Danny Pugh’s name on the scoresheet? That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while!

  18. Costas says:

    And just when I say that, Bendtdner has equalised. Come on Stoke!

  19. aig alex is god says:

    Hope Arsenal drop points today.Everyone was so premature to write them off.If they get within 3 points with a win today they will be favorites for the title given the fixtures they have coming up.

  20. willierednut says:

    On arsenal’s run – in, football is’nt played on paper, you can drop points any where.

  21. aig alex is god says:

    @willierednut

    Of course but given an option both of us know which set of fixtures we would have wanted United to play

  22. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Roy Keane in his prime was fantastic, that unfortunately didn’t include his two last seasons with us. He had knackered hips and knees and had the biggest fucking mouth any Fergusson player has ever had. His outspoken comments lost him his place at United and he was proved well and truely wrong. When Keane made those comments Fletcher was younger than Keane was himself when he had his impressive season at Forest. He opened his mouth before thinking and jepordized the coaching of Sir Alexs youngsters, most of which is mental training. I realise that Fletcher has praised him, as I do my old school teachers especially the stricter ones but that doesn’t mean they weren’t argumentative busybody cunts.
    Keano you were well wrong mate, good luck with your managerial skills, wherever you are nowadays.

  23. Corea says:

    Arsenal favorites for the title ? You must be kidding. ;)

  24. redscot says:

    @ Goat. i think you will find him at Ipswich, and doing a fuckin dreadfull job, not dissimilar To the Crap job he did at the Black Cat’s in the end.

  25. redscot says:

    @ corea. here here, wp

  26. aig alex is god says:

    @Corea

    i am not kidding.Damn serious about it.

  27. Corea says:

    @aig alex is god – for sure their team doesn’t look like being favorites, pal.

  28. aig alex is god says:

    @Corea

    They struggle in the big games but are flat track bullies and get the job done against the smaller sides. Apart from City home, Spurs away and possibly Brum home there arent many tricky fixtures. United and Chelsea have a host of big games coming up especially against each other

  29. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @redscot
    oh hes still there i thought he got moved on, hes got the determination and the fear factor if you want to call it that but he doesn’t always strike me as someone who listens to others and learns from others.

  30. willierednut says:

    Who gives a fcuk if keano’s a bad manager, he was a great player. Keano > viera

  31. redscot says:

    Ryan Shawcross just sent off, that’s a disaster for US. Shame for the young lad though Arron Ramsay,Nobody like’s to witness that, sickening.

  32. Corea says:

    shit
    again in february..

  33. chrispiano says:

    He had a go at Alan Smith too, who I always liked. Alan Smith did put in decent performances after that incident and so did Fletcher. Richardson can fuck right off though.

  34. aig alex is god says:

    Real blow for ramsey. The lad is immensely talented and will definitely make it big in the premier league one day.

    Hope he comes back soon

  35. hurr says:

    Holy mother Ramsey! Got Eduardo’d by Shawcross!

  36. aig alex is god says:

    Shawcross was in tears too when he left the pitch. Good they didnt show the replays. really sickening

  37. bchilds says:

    I didn’t see the tackle, loked over at the TV and caught Shawcross crying his eyes out. Hopefully the lad can come back.

  38. Corea says:

    people say foot was broken in 2 pieces, i don’t know how i wrote this but if they didn’t show it this was sickening.

  39. Tony Starks says:

    has to be proper bad if even the opposition players start crying…

  40. redscot says:

    @ goat, yes I know what you mean m8, he is a gobby man, but as everyone will testify he was great(legend) for United as a player, he is one of 15 on my wallpaper desktop, lol.
    He is single minded, I think he lost the dressing room at Sunderland as he has done at Ipswich with his bombastic manner.Recall the Irish world cup campaign? Completely divided Ireland, If that is possible. lol

  41. aig alex is god says:

    @Corea

    yes. Thats what happened it seems. Wont be back for atleast a year.

  42. Tony Starks says:

    stoke players look physically shattered.. this is a big moment for arsenals season.. come on stoke!

  43. redscot says:

    Great comments there lad’s that’s why we are United, recognise good footballer’s and got CLASS.

  44. aig alex is god says:

    3 points for the gooners then. The title race becomes even closer. Anyone could really win it. Too tight to call.The game with Chelsea on 3rd april could possibly determine which team battles it out with Arsenal for the title.

  45. Xyth says:

    Lucky, lucky Arsenal.

    I just wonder why we are not given blatant penalties as well.

  46. bchilds says:

    3-1 to Arsenal full time, Febregas pen and a Vermaelen tap-in win it for them.

    Big result for them, it’s gonna be nip and tuck till the end of the season.

  47. arsene wenger says:

    were back in your ass boys, no glory today though, worse day than a loss, i had to turn the telly off, i dont care what anyone says, that shawcross has to put his hands up because for a centre half to run into such an area in the oponant half and tackle like a train , them tears were good PR

  48. arsene wenger says:

    i wouldnt exactly call us luckylucky arsenal today xyth lol

  49. aig alex is god says:

    arsene wenger

    Good to see you back mate.How are you?.

    back in it for you guys and i think possibly you are the favourites now if you continue to slaughter the lesser teams against whom most of your remaining games are

    Sad for ramsey. Great talent and he will come back

  50. Corea says:

    arsene wenger – 66th minute, again february.
    hi mate

  51. arsene wenger says:

    im alrite aig cheers,are you feeling good about tommorow?

    iv seen this coming the same way i saw the eduardo incident coming, i didnt think it would be the ram, i thought it would be eboue or nasri, the same way i fancied hleb for a bad injury, there can be no excuses this time, alan hansen should take responsibility

  52. Costas says:

    Oh boy. Lucky for me, I didn’t watch the Shawcross tackle live. What can I say? I hope poor Ramsey will make a full recovery. Hate it when this happens.

    Still though. The penalty was a bit soft. Arsenal are definitely in the title race now. The biggest test for them, will be to win in places like Stoke. Games at Hull, Wigan and Brum might be more crucial than the Tottenham game.

  53. arsene wenger says:

    im realy cut up for the kid, he just dislodged denilson, a few more games and he would have been ontop of diaby as well

  54. arsene wenger says:

    lol costas but the penalty when they brought down ramsey was spot on and they didnt call it

  55. arsene wenger says:

    corea how you doing? its the curse of february, still im glad we won, we could have gone on and lost and i think that would have been it for our season

  56. arsene wenger says:

    andy gray is on telly now saying PEOPLE say to beat arsenal you ruf them up, why wont he take his share of blame

  57. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Honestly I didn’t see that. I was flipping channels and I stayed with the Arsenal game after Ramsey got injured. Walton is an awful referee mate. I wonder why he is still refereeing.

    I probably won’t watch the tackle. Was it deliberate? Reckless? Shawcross looked pretty distraught after that. A lot more than Pogatetz and Taylor in similar cases.

  58. aig alex is god says:

    @arsene wenger

    Villa are a very difficult side to beat so it wont be easy. High time we beat them this season.Possibly extra time or penalties but i think we will edge it

    Did you feel something like that coming?.why? i think Fabregas has been targeted a lot by opposition players this season

  59. Corea says:

    i have some pictures but i won’t put them here. you are all grown up people and will figure out the links. looks bad.

  60. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    I was lucky too not to watch it.Watching Leverkusen vs Koln

    Thought it was a penalty.No doubt in my mind.Think Arsenal will win against the lesser teams.They may struggle at Spurs and City at home.

  61. Corea says:

    arsene wenger – not bad mate. not bad.
    iit would have been better if we could interchange opinions in a pub with all of the main guys from RoM. it will be an interesting climax of the season.

  62. arsene wenger says:

    aig when you pick up your newspaper and hear players talking about get in their faces thats what we will do to beat arsenal its predictable, when alan hansen doesnt clarify what he means by get in their faces its a problem, thats like givin a threat, straght away its bringing the game into disripute, they tell the ref exactly what they are going to do and he dont do nothing about it, what part of football is getting in someones face? the ref doesnt put his foot down in the first minute and these teams get carried away and then cry like victims of their own challenges

    villa are seriously stubborn, and they have the knack of bobbling the ball into the net, our draw was definantly a point earned

  63. arsene wenger says:

    the amount of times i see arsenal players lay the ball off and get caught by the follow through and the ref plays the advantage and desnt book, its a joke, you get battered for being quicker with a ball, and these teams get the freekick every time because it suits them

  64. arsene wenger says:

    lol corea seriously that would be a laugh, im used to sitting in the pub with spuds and scousers, not much utd

  65. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Their fans don’t help matters either. Last year Wilkinson got sent off after kicking out at Ronaldo and he got a standing ovation. It’s just that Shawcross seemed more like a clean player.

  66. arsene wenger says:

    corea its a really really bad challenge on a player that is static, theres no need for the defender to even challenge in that area and especially to go to ground divin in like so

  67. Corea says:

    the ones who watched the vid on youtube even Ars fans consider that it was unintentional. stil thinking whether to watch it.

  68. aig alex is god says:

    arsene wenger

    i can understand what you are trying to say.Well its just this way , some teams dont have enough quality in them to match you and hence the only way for them to beat you is by getting a bit rough. However to win the league you have to get on with it.

  69. Costas says:

    I just watched it really quickly. Seems like a 50-50 challenge, but Shawcross goes very strongly in there. The ball is at the center of the pitch! Ramsey isn’t going anywhere.

  70. arsene wenger says:

    costas,the ref didnt even want to send him off, thats the joke, he spots the injury then realises he has to send him off, i dont wanna start nothing but all these refs are from the black country, they hear these managers squeeling about let us play our game, and they let them, but when a passing team complains then they are slagged off,stoke as a club are shit, last year they beat us, we didnt say a thing and by monday they were in the press saying we know how to beat arsenal and arsenal are soft, wheres the class in attacking a team you have just beaten?

  71. arsene wenger says:

    aig thats true, but there has to be a rule for all, against stoke on the f.a cup they commit 21 fouls compared to our 7 and we got 2 yellow cards to their none,and there wasnt a bad tackle in the game so wheres the encouragement for us to play our game?

  72. Park likes dags says:

    seems injuries are going to determine this season. I said it when Cech limped off..
    Chelski are gonna nose dive & our defence needs to finish strong or else it will be Arsenal’s title…

    Thank you Shitty, for doing SOMETHING right
    & hope Ramsey a speedy recovery

  73. Corea says:

    Showcross mistimed his challenge just like Taylor.

  74. arsene wenger says:

    end of the day shawcross has dived this week and now broken a players leg badly, and he should be charged with both

  75. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    I think he hesitated because Shawcross got a slice of the ball? But in certain cases(like today) that means nothing.

    There’s bad blood with Arsenal and Stoke from last season. It seems like when you complain about a team being too physical, they get even more physical.

  76. willierednut says:

    Get the violins out for arsene wenger, the worlds against us bollox.

  77. arsene wenger says:

    lol corea when a player gets a red for a two footed challenge, its because he could have broke a leg, now a player breaks a leg its a mistimed challenge? dont be a phil brown, its a shame ramsey is a nobody,nothing will be done about it

  78. arsene wenger says:

    lol wildernut, it could be anyone mate, this is what im saying, its impossible for a ref to play a fair game when two different teams collide, but he has to use his brain at least

  79. willierednut says:

    Shawcross will get hammerd by the media after whingers comments, the kids not that type of player.

  80. arsene wenger says:

    costas this is the thing, we didnt complain,it started 2 days later the row after sorenson gave an interview saying we were soft, but in the champions league some teams say were too physcal, so wheres the border between hard and fair and just reckless? and wheres the border between a ref letting a physical team be physical and a footballing team play without coming under rash challenges just because they move the ball quickly?

  81. UNITED4life says:

    it is all over “arsene wenger” commenting in this blog right after the 1-3 result. let me tell you it is united’s title not arsenal’s.

  82. arsene wenger says:

    the kids not that type of player? well i think you will find he is

  83. UNITED4life says:

    don’t be too exited ‘arsene wenger’

  84. sinred says:

    Shawcross turned away in horror.He must have heard the crack. He looked distraught and I just knew then that Arsenal would win.

  85. aig alex is god says:

    arsene wenger

    i can understand you feelings mate. We felt the same way when Ronaldo was targetted at times in the last few seasons. It is systematic fouling. Every time a different opposition player commits fouls on the same player so that they get away with it

  86. Corea says:

    arsene wenger – it wasn’t a two footed challenge, mate. i can’t argue with you right now because all of this shit just can’t be assessed straight away.

  87. arsene wenger says:

    end of the day i dont think players should get broken legs, its unfortunate its my team, but same way i dont think players should be flyin in for nothing balls, anything last ditch i could take but diving in like that is just stupid

  88. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    You are right. It’s a matter of perception. Don’t expect anything to change here. Need i remind that a few weeks after the Eduardo incident Ferguson complained about Portsmouth’s physicality and nearly got a ban? This isn’t just about Arsenal in my opinion. There’s just this macho mentality that often leads to stuff like this.

    The funny thing is that English referees in the Ch.League are adopting a diffeent style. Howard Webb for example disallowed a goal in the Olympiacos game that he would never have if it was in the Pr.League.

  89. arsene wenger says:

    anyway thats an old chapter now, i dont think shawcross should be hung drawn and quartered, hopefully he will just learn from it because shit happens ,hopefully other players will just think twice before being reckless

  90. sinred says:

    @ arsene wenger

    The injury was terrible but the tackle was not. I can definitely understand your frustrations though. If something like this happens to our players 3 times (Diaby,Eduardo and Ramsey) we would be very pissed.

    But this looked like a 50 – 50 challenge imo.

    Hope Ramsey gets back on his feet asap. Great talent.

  91. arsene wenger says:

    its not just arsenal, its just that arsenal dont have a plan B to combat it, well we certainly didnt,united have more power and height and can mix it better, id say were getting a bit more bottle now with a slight plan b @costas

  92. arsene wenger says:

    sinbad, i wont ever watch it again, but he was charging in like a man possed, he had all the momentum required to break a leg and thats all there is to it, he treated it like a 50/50 but ramsey had the ball so the challenge was 100/0

  93. willierednut says:

    Arsene wenger dont talk crap, im sorry for ramsey but it was a accident.

  94. Corea says:

    There are teams like Arsenal, there are teams like Stoke. You can’t have 20 Arsenals. But it’s 21 century and authorities should figure out the way to make the game safer.

  95. arsene wenger says:

    wildernut, it is what it is, its not easy to break someones leg, it takes more than just a bang in a tackle, rasey had the ball, the guy flew up the pitch like a man possesed,its fact

  96. King Eric says:

    Why are people saying Arsenal have a “much easier” run in? Aside from Citeh away ours is pretty good and we normally do well against the smaller teams. Arsenal have to go to Brum, Blackburn and play Spurs. NO games are givens nowadays. I honestly think they are missing a bit of quality. Need a decent keeper and a striker. Stoke were clearly knackered second half and a fit Stoke would have held on.

  97. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Watched it again. It was just about 50-50. The ball was lost and they were both going for it. Not that it excuses the tackle. Just saying. I know it doesn’t mean anything to you, but Shawcross does have United roots and one would think that he learned better than that. It’s really unfortunate that he lost the plot like that.

    I reiterate that I hope the lad recovers soon. One bright point for your team? The reaction was completely different to the Birmingham game. It must have been because Gallas was missing.

  98. arsene wenger says:

    i dont think stoke are a dirty team, they do commit a lot of fouls, but when refs continously let it go they begin to get a bit more desperate as the legs get heavier, shit happens, but refs need to cut back the synical fouls where theres no attempts at the ball, chelsea are masters of this game also but obviously they arent fighting for their lifes

  99. King Eric says:

    arsene wenger – Shawcross did not mean it. Fuck all to do with PR. Fuck me.

  100. arsene wenger says:

    probably i am a bit in shock,i dont think it was quite martin tailor,but again i dont think players should be getting broken legs in challenges, i thought we looked quite down an out after that, it was only eboue and bendtner that drove us on

  101. sinred says:

    @arsene wenger

    Don’t really want to discuss the specifics but my reading of the tackle was that Shawcross lost control of the ball and tried to get it back. It wasn’t under the control of Ramsey. It was a hard challenge but it i don’t think there was anything malicious about it. It almost looked like a collision.

  102. Costas says:

    @King Eric

    Arsenal’s biggest obstacle might be games like today. Places like Hull, Wigan and Birmingham for example. We have a long way to go and the good thing afte today, is that it’s back in our hands. But we really have to start looking over our shoulder.

  103. King Eric says:

    willierednut – Spot on mate.

  104. King Eric says:

    Costas – Yeah I reckon it will be between us and Arsenal now. The rentboys will nosedive.

  105. arsene wenger says:

    again lol i dont think shawcross should be blamed too much,he was involved and he probably shouldnt have made the challenge in such a nothing area of the field,anyway enough of that now

    costas mate i think thats our hardest game, its so set up for stoke there, such a shit pitch and as small as possible, the long throw is deadly,imagine introducing that to barcelona or madrid in the CL league

  106. King Eric says:

    “shawcross should be hung drawn and quartered”. Oh do fuck off. You are coming on the wrong site here mate tonight if you want sympathy. He is a United lad so we ain’t gonna condemn him. Well I certainly ain’t.

  107. arsene wenger says:

    i agree chelsea will nose dive, they have stoke next as well, i dont think hillario will appreaciate the delap

  108. arsene wenger says:

    king eric, that was heat of the moment stuff, read on further

  109. Costas says:

    @King Eric

    Lol, he said “I don’t think shawcross should be hung drawn and quartered”. What’s with you this week? :P

  110. arsene wenger says:

    lol yeah king eric, what the hell, your doing a news of the world quote stylee on me

  112. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Yeah, Stoke are a culture shock no doubt about it. Given our problems with high balls, I am surprised they haven’t scored against us in 3 games. Anyway, you deserve to be angry in my opinion. I just think that Shawcross got caught up in the moment and didn’t do anything with malice. He will feel the heat though. If a back elbow by Rio gets him banned for 4 games, imagine what the repurcussions of this will be.

  113. King Eric says:

    arsene wenger – Really sorry mate, I completely misread your post. Don’t I feel a cunt!!

    Costas – I really don’t know mate. I have been in a fowl mood all week. Sorry lads!

  114. Costas says:

    Thanks AIG. That’s the tough bunch right here:

  115. willierednut says:

    Arsene wenger his momentum took him into ramsey, ill agree it was a full blooded challenge but certainly not dirty and if think that your out of your tree.

  116. Corea says:

    aig alex is god – yeah. quite a difference

  117. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Anytime mate.

    Should have spaced it better. The fixtures of all the teams look a bit jumbled up. Chelsea are truly fucked. really tough run of fixtures there.

  118. arsene wenger says:

    costas i think he should just accept the red card and take his 3 games, he is a quality player and it doesnt benefit us him being banned so i really couldnt care if the rescind it and he plays chalsea next week, i just dont want one of them eduardo situations where it rumbles on and they show it on telly daily. im sure ramsey will accept any explanation and wont make any accusations. generally out of every 100 tackles there is a leg breaker, and in every 50 leg breakers there is a broken lefg, its just unfortunate for the player it happens to. ramsey will be alrite, eduardo not so alrite, he has lost that yard of pace, ramsey can chill because i feel he is a player who plays with his brain

  119. arsene wenger says:

    wildernut, enough, read what im sayin and im sure you had plenty to say about gallas a few weeks back lol

  120. Costas says:

    @King Eric

    It’s ok. A.W. is a reasonable lad and he will understand. Squeaky bum time has come early me thinks…

    This incident today got me thinking. We have actually been lucky to avoid stuff like that. The most serious one I can recall was Rodrigo Possebon and he was very lucky on the day. Alan Smith’s was something different. A freak of bad luck.

  121. arsene wenger says:

    lol king eric its cool mate,its a hot debate,i definantly over reacted with the PR comments

  122. arsene wenger says:

    remember that liverpool player, seriously i cant remember his name, the french striker, now his leg breaks were freakily accidental

  123. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Nah it will be more than 3 games. And unfortunately the media will latch onto it.

    I hope Ramsey will come back just as good. He is young and is strong enough to do so. But you better keep him away from the Man United medical stuff. Still waiting for Owen Hargreaves to return. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ramsey returned before him. :(

  124. Corea says:

    Costas – it will be a 3 game ban.

  125. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Lol.Nice one. As you said if we dont win the league the team that does should share it with our medical staff

  126. arsene wenger says:

    lol costas, our medical staff definantly came from the same college as yours, ever since we lost gary lewin we have had problems especially predicting the expected return date, 3 weeks often turns into 6 or in the case of bendtner 19 leage games lol, the case of hargreaves is one of lifes mysterys, the only thing that suprises me is no one on here has threw their toys out the pram about him still getting paid like lots of gooners did about rossicky

  127. Costas says:

    @Corea

    Yeah that’s the letter of the law, but I wouldn’t be suprised if they increased. They did it for Taylor I think.

    @arsene wenger

    That medical stuff is a winning team! Anyway, last question before I leave for a bit. What was the deal with Diaby? I don’t remember him getting injured like that?

  128. Corea says:

    I know why aig is so pessimistic at times. :) He goes to sleep too late :-P
    I am off. A little bit drunk, a little bit depressed and want to watch our game tomorrow as soon as possible. Hopefully in a pub with some mancs.

  129. arsene wenger says:

    it will be a 3 game ban and i think that fits the bill because his mindframe might not be very safe even if it was accidental, his mindframe might even require more time out of the line ups

  130. Costas says:

    @AIG

    Yeah, I still maintain that. :D

    Don’t worry about the fixtures. It’s Scott’s fault! He doesn’t have a bold and italic option for our fonts! Chelsea also have it rough I agree. I think another thing that will play a role will be the C.League campaigns of us 3. They really take a toll as we found out recently.

  131. arsene wenger says:

    diaby got a broken ankle against sunderland i think away, in the 94th minute when we were 4-0 up a week before our CL final costas, he was out longer than eduardo, that was a proper bad challenge

  132. arsene wenger says:

    @costas, they reckon this is one of the reasons for diabys bad injury records, he spent a year in bed depressed an got right out of shape

  133. Costas says:

    Bye Corea. See you tomorrow. Hopefully for our first trophy of the year. :D

  134. willierednut says:

    Apparently the whinger wants the death penalty for shawcross, arsene wenger i did read your posts you talk cack, but it could be worse, you could be scouse.

  135. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    The CL will be a factor, no doubt. Hope Arsenal or Chelsea wont have to play less fixtures.The early kickoffs dont help as well at times

    Off to sleep now. Good night.

  136. arsene wenger says:

    the strange thing about the diaby incident was he walked off the pitch and was stamping into the ground like he just hurt his foot but you could see it hanging off, weird costas if you can see that footage somewhere you will think that geezer must be hard as nails or just unable to feel his legs

  137. arsene wenger says:

    wildernut read them again mate, and make notes

  138. aig alex is god says:

    bye corea. Good night.

  139. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Oh really? I didn’t remember that at all. I didn’t know Diaby was playing back then. I remember that I first caught a glimpse of him in the 97-98 season. Thanks for the info.

    Anyway, I am off for a bit. Take care everyone.

  140. arsene wenger says:

    any predictions for tommorow?

  141. arsene wenger says:

    laters costas mate

  142. Costas says:

    Night AIG

    @arsene wenger

    Ouch! That sounds like something Roy keane would do! I’ll make sure not to watch it. And actually, the worse thing today, is to be John Terry. ;)

  143. willierednut says:

    Here’ a prediction, arsenal wont win a thing.

  144. arsene wenger says:

    wildernut perhaps

  145. Tony Starks says:

    who would have thought eh? Us vs Arsenal for the title? Well I bet people like Jamie Redknapp feel like idiots for writing Arsenal off everytime they lose and going over the top about Chelsea… (notice they don’t say much about United – thats just the way I like it)

  146. arsene wenger says:

    jamie redknapp has such an empty space between his ears spurs were considering it as a location for a new stadium, that guy isnt qualified to talk about football, he was a sideways crab that made denilson look like pele

  147. Tony Starks says:

    by the way why is the competition is Spain so crap – Real and Barca seem to get cricket scores every week…

  148. willierednut says:

    Only kidding arsene wenger if we dont win it hope yous do.

  149. arsene wenger says:

    willie, id rather you win than chelsea definantly 1000%, im excited about the game tommorow i think it could be a classic, i cant call it though because i aint got a clue who will be in your line-up, if you start with rooney and valencia i think you will grab the game, without those i still fancy you to snatch it, anyway good luck il catch you lot next time

  150. Costas says:

    @arsene wenger

    Prediction? As once Hollywood legend once said:

    P A I N….

    Just kidding. :D I am a huge Rocky fan.

  151. arsene wenger says:

    lol rocky 3 classic

  152. willierednut says:

    Adriannnnnnnnnn! shawcross made the england squad.

  153. redscot says:

    My thought’s lol when you walk through a storm hold yer heid up high, and dont be afraid of the dark.
    Abody is entitled to free speech. i will say is this. My club mean’s more to me than my dog, and that mean’s fucking everything. We have a great chance here lad’s. Shame for the Pedo’s tonite, just wanted the Potter’s to get a Draw at the very least. Anybody who was chuffed with the Bertie’s win is kidding themselves.Look at the fucking big picture please.
    Rant over.

  154. Costas says:

    No I don’t hate Richard Dunne. But I pity the fool…

  155. willierednut says:

    Well im of to see if i can find andrain, good nite lads.

  156. Costas says:

    Night willie. See you tomorrow.

    The Shawcross call up does come as a bit of a shock to me. I know that Capello is exploring his options and of course Rio’s situation isn’t helping, but I think that the last thing on Shawcross’ mind is playing for England.

  157. Tony Starks says:

    Have to say – Xavi Hernandez – even at this age I would break the bank to have him as replacement for Scholes…

  158. eddieTheRed says:

    @ arsene wenger (and all arsenal fans for that matter)

    Ryan Shawcross challenge on Ramsey reminds me of William Gallas challenge on Bolton’s Mark Davies earlier in the season – what goes around comes around! You London scum can dish it out but you can’t take it!

    The reason your team gets more of these injuries than any other team is because Wenger takes men and turns them into boys via arsenal’s show – pony (youth) scheme. You are honestly the most stupid and pointless team in football and you’ll win nothing until you’re taken over and Wenger is sacked – you need a manager with balls – not one who dreams up endless excuses for your team’s pathetic performance!

  159. arsene wenger says:

    eddiethered stop crying mate, gallas’s tackle never left the floor, with your what goes around theory you are obviously a fool, what did alan smith do to get his leg broke? or wayne rooneys metertarsal? or what did haiti do to get fucked? think before you speak

  160. arsene wenger says:

    and we will never win nothing until were taken over lol,no disrespect to everyone on here but lol taken over like you eddie?

  161. LunG420 says:

    Ohhhh A.W. you got us there…with the owners lol.

    @ Costas… Why do you pity Dunne?

  162. arsene wenger says:

    lol LunG420 i never really diss other football clubs, only the odd few ,glasgow rangers, liverpool , this eddie guy is just insane though, thanks to him im expecting nani to recieve a massive two footer taking his leg off soon

  163. PG says:

    EddieTheRed .. you are a twat if you are going to use the Karma argument. Stupid apologists like you betray your white trash origins.

  164. arsene wenger says:

    PG ,fully agreed on the karma talk

  165. LunG420 says:

    Bring Back George Best!!!

  166. Fred says:

    Watch your fucking mouth.

  167. LunG420 says:

    How the fuck do u expect me to watch my mouth gimme a mirror…

  168. wazza (Bezi) says:

    @AIG : hi mate. are they showing tonight’s final in India and if on which channel ?

  169. aig alex is god says:

    @wazza (Bezi)

    Hi mate. How are you?

    yes. the match is being telecasted live at 8:30 PM on Zee Sports.

    Sorry for the late reply

  170. Costas says:

    @LunG420

    “I pity the fool” is a line from Rocky 3.

  171. Costas says:

    Oh and good morning everyone.

    @wazza (Bezi)

    Hi mate. Long time no see. How have you been?

  172. ash says:

    @aig
    I have been trying to find in which channel the match would be shown,thanx for telling.Thats y this is the best united blog site u can find everything about united
    UNITED FOREVER.

  173. aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    Anytime mate. Hope they dont fuck it up this time. They said they will show it last year and at the last minute didnt telecast the game.

  174. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Morning mate.Hopefully we get our first piece of silverware today.8 hrs to go for kickoff

  175. aig alex is god says:

    oops, 7 hours not 8

  176. Costas says:

    @

    6 hours and 55 minutes now. :D

  177. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Yup. The countdown begins.

    Hope we can score today. Goals in cup competitions at Wembley have become a problem for us and the Villa defence wont be doing us any favours.

  178. Costas says:

    @AIG

    Yeah, I was thinking about our goalscoring record at Wembley recently. Up until the Charity Shield game with Chelsea, we had 1 goal in 5 games over there. The pitch doesn’t help matters.

    Anyway, here’s my predicted line up for today:

    Kuszzak – Rafael, Vidic, Evand, Evra – Valencia, Fletcher, Gibson, Park – Berbatov, Owen.

    Took a few risks as you can see!

    Predicted scoreline: 1-0 to us. The fact that Vidic is playing, gives me the confidence that we can shut them out this time.

  179. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    The Wembley pitch is a concern and if Rooney starts he will play there today and again 3 days later which i dont want

    I agree with your team but i think carrick will start instead of Gibson.Thats the only change i can see.

    Vidic really does make me feel much secure at the back. i cant see us keeping a clean sheet but we will win. 2-1 to us i say

    Both of us think United will win. How rare is that :D

  180. Corea says:

    Hehe. Good morning everyone fellas.

    Have you read an article in daily mail about Owen Hargreaves ? It looks from worse to worse.

  181. Costas says:

    @AIG

    Yeah, look at that! A real rarity! :P I went with Gibson because Fergie might think that in order to depend on him this season, he must play a couple if important games.

    Good point about Rooney ad Wembley. And I thinkt that Wolves’ pitch isn’t in the best condition either. I just hope that Capello is smart enough to realise that he shouldn’t use him more than 45 minutes in a meaningless friendly.

  182. Corea says:

    I disagree! We will definitely win. :-D

  183. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Possibly thats the reason SAF dosent want to start him today.As you said yesterday i am excited about watching owen and Berba play together so i hope both of them start. really feel they can combine well.

    I hope Gibson proves me wrong but i think his game has too many areas where he can improve and he has to improve a lot if he wants to make it at United

    @Corea

    Good morning. Both of us are saying we will win.

  184. Costas says:

    Hi Corea. You mean this hey?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1254335/EXCLUSIVE-Owen-Hargreaves-tells-England-manager-Fabio-Capello-I-wont-make-World-Cup.html

    If it’s true, it’s quite depressing. I just wish that those reporters weren’t so classless and didn’t say how much Hargo cost for each game. He didn’t ask to be injured. Idiots.

    Notice what Hargo says right here:

    “I wanted to do well, obviously. I came with symptoms (of tendinitis) but everyone said, “Don’t worry, it will go”, so I always tried to be available. But playing on it made it worse. I wanted to play, though, so I played through it.”

    By “everyone”, he wouldn’t happen to mean our brilliant medical team right?

  185. ash says:

    @COSTAS
    Hello mate.I agree with ur line up but i would prefer oberton ahead of park.That lad should be given chance and these games are best for a player to develope.i would expect this to be high scoring match.hope we finish in 90 minutes.

  186. Corea says:

    @Costas – yes. i was always possitive of Hargo’s chances but this fucking articles don’t help, that’s for sure.
    But maybe when we start to be a little bit more pessimistic on the matter Owen will shock us in a positive way? Hope so.

  187. aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    Dont think Obertan is the right choice.He hasnt made the impact we expected. Hasnt had enough games but he has to develop a lot and is still finding his feet. Also dont think it will be a high scoring game. Not with Villa playing. They will defend for their lives throughout the 90 mins and try to hit us on the break

  188. Costas says:

    @AIG

    Maybe if Gibson starts it will be in a 3 man midfield? I agree that he needs to improve in certain aspects of his game. I just wonder if Fergie will be despeate to make him part of the first team this season. We know how limited our midfield options are from now until the end of the season.

    @Ash

    Hi mate. Obertan hey? Well, I thought Goodison Park could have been the start of his comeback to the first team, so who knows? He has played a bigger part in the campaign than Park. I just wonder if Fergie’s criteria for the first XI will be putting his best team or using those who have played the most in the campaign.

  189. Corea says:

    LOL. Reading RoM and watching the replay of the Chelsea game during. In the first half when Fat Frank scored Ancelotti was so proud of himself chewing gum like Fergie during his best years. It was funny to look at his face when Belleti was given his marching orders :)

  190. ash says:

    @aig
    Yeah agreed he hasnt made the impact we expected but these are all the games he should feature in.Sorry to say but i am not a big fan of park,as a winger his duty should be is to score goals or to atleast give assist but he does neither. i would like to see oberton play.if he performs well its brilliant if he doesnt then sub him.

  191. Costas says:

    @Corea

    I hope so too. No matter what the Daily Mail says, Hargo’s plan should be to return in the pre season training for the 2010-2011 season. The World Cup thing is crap. Capello should have learned to play without him by now.

  192. aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    Park isnt the most effective going forward but i think he will get he nod because he does play these kind of games which will be tight due to the hadr work he puts in.Obertan needs some more premeir league games against the lesser teams. After his forgettable performance against Leeds he has been missing from the team until the everton game last week.

  193. Corea says:

    Costas is feeding himself, aig is searching thru internet, king eric is sleeping (sleepyhead), denton davey is sweating in Mexico…
    oh yes! Scott is composing another 5 blog entries. :-)

  194. Costas says:

    @Corea

    Lol, I ate about 2 hours ago. I am actually searching through the internet too.

    I wonder if one of Scott’s entries is stats about Berba. :P

  195. aig alex is god says:

    @Corea

    i am doing some work so that i can watch the match comfortably. We celebrate a festival so i have a holiday tomorrow too.’Holi’ it is called, the festival of colours where we throw colored powder and colored water containing balloons at each other

    Got to be careful though, some people also throw eggs too. Yikes ;-)

  196. ash says:

    aig
    Oberton performance against leeds was pathetic but park has performed like that in many matches against many teams,yet he is selected.I am not doubting in fergies selection hell no one can doubt in sir alex but what i am saying is just because oberton has performed badly in one game doesnt make him a bad player,yeah he has to improve but a player can only improve by playing at highest level and by that i mean playing in these kind of games.If nani was available then playing oberton or park wouldnt have risen because nani would have played but between park and oberton i would prefer oberton atleast in these games maybe not in champs league

  197. King Eric says:

    Morning

    Please stop sticking up for the fucking gooners. All over the radio this morning saying how they are so hard done by. Get a fucking grip. I feel for Ramsey, I really do but no need to start sticking up for Arsenal. You can rest assured they wouldn’t be for us. Under Wenger their disciplinary record has been absymal so fuck the moaning cunt.

    PG – “White trash origins”? Could be perceived as being racist son.

    Anyway Gibson WILL start today, Fergie has said as much. Fucking hell the lad scored two against Spurs in the quarters so think he deserves a place.

    Just popped out for some cigs and listening to Talksport. You could not make it up. Mick “YSB impartial non-biased” Quinn saying he hopes Villa “smash United all over the pitch” then the cunt’s saying we are on a wobble and Villa will probably win. A wobble? One defeat or two if you include Citeh since the 3rd of January. They were saying how if Villa stop Rooney they will win the game but United need to stop Milner, Young, Petrov etc. Oh do fuck off. Its that easy innit . Stop Rooney and game over. What about Carrick, Scholes, Valencia, Fletch, Evra , Berba or Owen? Villa are a steady side and nowt more. They were awful against our ten men and united’s experience in the big occasion will see us victorious.

  198. King Eric says:

    Obertan? Good god no ta.

  199. Corea says:

    Park of course.

  200. King Eric says:

    Corea – hello mate. King Eric is not sleeping. Had to get up at 7am .

    The Arsenal thing wasn’t meant to anyone here just all the London lovers on the radio.

  201. King Eric says:

    I think Park looks to getting back to form of late. He has played well against Arsenal and the hammers. A bloody good squad player.

  202. aig alex is god says:

    @ash

    i see your point mate but it is a final afterall and experience does count.We have made it to the final so lets play our strongest team and win this one. Who knows it may be the only thing we will come close to winning this season? Obertan struggles to track back and against Milner that may be required so i think park should start today. the league games against Stoke is where we can go with Obertan so that he can get some experience. He needs some time and some games, cant just throw him in a final and expect him to deliver

  203. Costas says:

    @King Eric

    Morning mate. You are right about Park. He has been on a very good run of form recently. As it’s usually the case with him at this time of the year.

  204. King Eric says:

    We will win the 4th on the trot this season not just the league cup. We are in a great position.

  205. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

    hi mate. How are you?

    Just saying that could be the case. Of course the league looks a real possiblity after yesterday and looking at Chelseas fixtures it could be between us and the gooners. Hopefully experience will count and we will prevail

  206. wazza (Bezi) says:

    @AIG, Costas : am fine mate. currently busy with my job but always in touch of RoM. hopefully we win today’s match & that will come as a boost to the players in the run in.
    @AIG : have you been to the ManUtd cafe ?

  207. aig alex is god says:

    @wazza (Bezi)

    No, i havent gone there but It is just opposite my office in Phoenix mills in Lower parel so i will go there soon.

  208. Corea says:

    I am off guys for good. Good luck to us today and love you all guys.

  209. Costas says:

    Bye Corea. Enjoy the game. I hope you will come by to celebrat afterwards. ;)

  210. King Eric says:

    aig – I am ok mate, how are you? Enjoy the game lads. Wish I was going now but just cannot afford the travel and spending. your looking at 150 quid.

  211. ash says:

    All the best to our team.hope to see a good game and we win it.If we win it would be a great holi for all indian man utd fan.
    UNITED FOREVER.

  212. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

    I am good mate. Sorry for the late replay

    How far is Wembley from your place?. have you ever been to the new Wembley to watch United?.

  213. King Eric says:

    aig – About 4 hours mate and no I haven’t been. Not too bothered about it to be honest. Not a patch on the old Wembley.
