Darren Fletcher returned to Old Trafford yesterday for the first time since leaving United for West Brom in the January window. The West Brom captain sung the praises of our fans.

The fans are fantastic. Sentiment comes at the end of your career, but I had a nice moment at the very end when I clapped everyone and it’s something I’ll remember. For me, it was important that I focused on my performance for 90 minutes. Afterwards, it was great to speak to some friends and to remember this a little bit, but thankfully for me we got the three points. I’ve enjoyed my day and that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Despite losing three games in a row and falling just four points clear of Liverpool, Fletcher still fancies United to finish in the top four.

I think United are all right for the top four now. There’s a bit of work to do, but I think it would take a catastrophe for United not to finish in the top four. The team is good enough and I think they’ve done enough, but obviously they’ve got to see it through.
