It has been confirmed this afternoon that Ray Wilkins has died after suffering from a heart attack last week. He was only 61.

Wilkins signed for Manchester United from Chelsea in 1979 and spent five years at the club, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

Wilkins scored in the Cup final against Brighton in a 2-2 draw which went to replay. United won that game 4-0 claiming our first piece of silverware in six years.

United beat champions Liverpool 2-0 in the Community Shield that summer thanks to two goals from Bryan Robson.
