After rejecting the contract off from Manchester United, it looked as though Ezekiel Fryers was set for a move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer. He trained with the London club throughout the summer, only for an agreement not to be found for a compensation package, with United reportedly asking for £4m whilst Spurs were only prepared to pay £2m. Whilst Fryers was out of contract, United were owed money as he had come through the ranks in our academy.

Fryers then joined Standard Liege after they had watched him for two years following an elite tournament where England and Belgium participated. He signed a two year deal with the Belgium club.

“United offered a three-year contract but I rejected the offer,” Fryers told FourFourTwo. “Spurs were interested but the fee [that United requested] was too much. Then Standard Liege arrived with a good opportunity for me to play regular games and get experience.”
