God I hate days like this.

  2. Callum says:

Rather have lost ten-fucking-nil than that. He will be sorely missed. Lovely fellow.

  3. Football Blog says:

That was one horrible injury. Just hope and wish that he can recover well and fast.

Keeping Aaron Ramsey has been long out that much, so Valencia might be out for that period of time as well.

  4. Joel says:

    Wishing Valencia a speedy recovery

  5. portugueseprincess says:

    Animo Valencia.

  6. Anderson-son-son says:

Second that emotion…all the very best wishes for a succesful recovery your way Antonio..!

  7. Callum says:

Why is it always seemingly nice guys like Valencia and Eduardo this happens to? Why does it never happen to Craig Bellamy or John Terry?

  8. redorded says:

I felt your pain last night. Good wishes and prayers for your recovery.

  9. manutdthebest says:

Terrible injury, my prayer be with him to recover well physically and mentally! I felt numb in front of telly after seen that!! Remind me of smith’s and that seasons. Not feeling good!

  10. Sayyid says:

Time for Obertan and Bebe to step up

  11. RedDuck says:

+1 to manutdthebest. Alan Smith, horror moment all over again.

  12. Sayyid says:

We are going to have a problem on who plays on the left from now on!

Maybe Fergie will swtich to 4-3-3 with Rooney taking one of the wide positions with Nani and berbs up front

I dont want to see Park or O’Shea ever starting for us again

  13. Red Devil says:

God bless you tony…get well soon..godspeed!

  14. rubito says:

    Hi,
Unfortunately, these things happen when you play sports.
I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he keeps his chin up. The time will fly past and before we know it we will be welcoming him back even stronger.

@Callum – Not wishing bad injuries on anyone, but I know what you mean.

COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS………….UNITED UNITED UNITED

  15. paul the red says:

the place went all quietas soon as that happened last night. even where i was in east lower we knew it was a bad one with the way the rangers player was waving at the bench

  16. RedMancundonian says:

Last night, I’ll admit I cried like a wuss after the injury. I love Valencia for everything that he contributes. I wish him the speediest, easiest, least painful, and the overall best recovery. We are all with you Antonio !!!!!!

  17. Gooner says:

I’m an Arsenal fan – it’s a horrendous thing for any player to go through, we’ve seen two in recent years and here’s to wishing Nuno makes a speedy and full recovery.

    It’s always the nice guys.

  18. RedevilsAdvocate says:

  20. TheSevenOfOT says:

Get well soon Antonio !! you are a big part of our team ! can’t tell you how truly sorry i am for you .

  21. McQueen says:

Absolutely gutted. Get well soon Antonio. Gotta admit I thought the guy was invincible, he’s one hell of an athlete, but ankles are always going to be a weak spot.

There was a time last season where this injury would’ve seemed devastating to the team, but with Nani in the form he’s in you feel we can cope. Big weight on his shoulders now though. Also an opportunity here for Obertan, I’m sure he won’t be happy as such, but he’ll know this is a big chance for him.

  22. bigphil2003 says:

Tony V is such a good guy and didn’t deserve this. I’m absolutely gutted by it. All the best to him.

  23. YesRed says:

    Get well soon Tony.

  24. Ash says:

Shocked.Didnt know that antonio has broken his ankle.Big blow for us and i feel really sorry for tony.I have to say thing arent going in our favour this week.I just hope it ends on a good note by beating them.,Now sir alex must be gutted that why did he loan out cleverley. He would have been useful.

  26. willierednut says:

Get well soon tony V. Don’t underestimate how big a blow this is to United, gonna be a big miss this season. Callum don’t lower yourself mate, i wouldn’t wish that injury on anyone.

  27. KIngOfStretfordEnd says:

Get well very soon tonyV.I feel desperately gutted.Terrible, horrendous, very painful to see. It’s not the point that he’s gonna take a long time to come back, but the intensity of that pain. But he’s really strong and fit,so i’m wishing for a whole speedier recovery.Good quiet lad.I can’t get this out of my system right now.

Come on guys let’s don’t wish this on any athlete.Hate is hate.Wishing for injuries is bad.

  28. King Eric says:

Sayidd – You never want to see Park start again? Well unfortunately for you he will do. How well did he play in the centre against Milan and the dippers and Arsenal last season?

  29. Mickjk says:

Without doubt Antonio is what a united player should be. Hope he can recover mentally and physically. I’ll be singing his name on my next visit to o.t just to help him
    Keep his chin up.

  30. Long John O'Shea says:

All the best… hopfully it spur the rest of the lads on to win something for him!!

  31. ancha says:

    @king eric

what you are saying is correct…he looks far more effective in the center of the field than out wide during last season

  32. Mancunian says:

Get better soon Tony…Hope to see you back soon with your quality service again.

  33. willierednut says:

    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/445118565?-11193

    He’s out for 6 months.

  34. Costas says:

Tried to post the news, but I couldn’t. Better than I expected to be honest. Get well soon Antonio and your right back berth will be awaiting you when we play out Ch.League quarter final.

  35. Gadget says:

I am an Arsenal fan, but allegiances mean little when such an injury happens.

I feel much sympathy for Valencia. This was the only unlucky injury I’ve seen in recent years. He’s such a magnificent footballer, and one of the few opposition players I’d happily give my time. I wish him a speedy recovery, and an very long prosperous and injury-free career

  36. shabadu84 says:

Cheers, wish him the best and hope his career gets back on the tremendous track it was on after he returns. 6 Months is better than I expected and it would be fantastic to see him get a game or two at the end of the season, if only to build his confidence back up.

Much was expected of Nani this year; now, the burden will be even greater. Let’s pray he’s up to it.

  37. Zade says:

I wonder if this is related to the awful pitch at Old Trafford. Rooney almost injured his ankle again because of the pitch. I hope something gets done about this before many players start dropping off injured

  38. RedGem says:

Will pray for your speedy recovery, Tony. Godspeed and know that we are thinking of you.

When I saw Broadfoot’s face and reaction yesterday, and those of the crowd, I knew right away it was really bad.. and I couldn’t stop myself from crying.

  39. denton davey says:

    willierednut @ 13:40: “He’s out for 6 months.”

His return in March will be like a new signing !

  40. samuel - united WE stand says:

Huge blow but Get well soon antonio, has contributed his part to the united course so speedy recovery mate

  41. united.george says:

i wonder if he will ever be the same though, so much of his game is built on speed and turning quickly to avoid defenders. sometimes these injuries take out a mental part to your game.

no matter what though, I hope his rehab is well, and he comes back to us next year!

  42. stpercival, the former john ferry says:

Get well soon and we will see you in the Champions League.

  43. bettathedevilsweknow says:

best wishes Antonio! get well and come back soon!

  44. FletchTHEMAN says:

Gutted for Antonio. Fergie said it was a dislocation and a fracture, really bad. Footage seems to show he was wrong footed by the turf. I think it was the left foot that is broken, which bears all the weight and strain for his very specialized game. Nothing bad from rangers, just close pressure. Folks comparing this to Smith’s injury at Liverpool will probably agree he wasn’t the same after. Alan has repeatedly said he came back to early.

Speedy recovery to our Tony. I hope he can stay loose and confident and come back strong next year.

  45. Kaddy says:

We are praying for you already! Speedy recovery,
    God bless you.

  46. Bestie says:

    Why, why, why…love you Antonio

  47. Gunnerdom says:

Get well soon, Antonio. Hope he gets back stronger, more determined and confident. We Arsenal fans witnessed 3 incidents like this in the past 4 years.

  48. Shobo says:

Gooner in peace, saw what happened and wanted to express my shock and sympathy. Valencia always seemed like a nice guy, horrible that this should happen to him, hope he recovers, it’ll take a lot to get over the physical and mental scars.

  49. Costas says:

Have to say fair play to all the Arsenal fans who’ve come here today. Truth be told, they have gone through this more often than us.

    @united.george

I am afraid about the same mate. If he will ever get over the mental trauma. And you also have to wonder if he will ever become the same player physically.

  50. RICH13 says:

si se puede antonio!!! prayers and best wishes are with you always.

  51. 0161-Jon says:

One of our most creative players, we will miss him so badly this season, Nani has a lot of work to do and Obertan should get a big chance this season now…

Happened right near me, looked like nothing in the challenge to be fair, just mega unlucky.

    get well soon Tony!

  52. redevil forever says:

we’ll fk miss you tony v now obertan needs to step up we’ll get trough

  53. Bradnaldo says:

Absolutely gutted for Tony V, put a real downer on the night despite of whatever outcome from the game there would have been. Thoughts and prayers with both him and his family, speedy recovery and hope to see him in a red shirt again soon.

  54. willcole says:

    @sayid

what the fuck are u talkin about, park has bin such a great player for us for a long time one bad game and ur fuckin turning on him great fan u are.

  55. willcole says:

Get well soon Tony all the best. He was one of our best if not the best player of last season (arguably)
    Lets go orbertan

  56. Gandalf says:

He will be given the best treatment from United I’m sure – come roaring back Tony! We will miss your crosses.

  57. Jaandsdad says:

all the best of luck during your recovery Tony V.
Time for obertan to step up

  58. johnnyAvi says:

gutted! absolutly gutted! i felt like crying..im a grown man!! i seriously think valencia is one of the best wingers in the world today and like to call him the terminator because he looks so strong, tough and mean lol…proper solid and to see him like that was sad!! wish him the best of recoveries and hope we win a trophy just for him! nani will step upto the plate on the right side and the left we have park, giggs, obertan, bebe and, i think that fabio could do it….anyways get well tony!!! you will do just fine!!

  59. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Hope he gets well soon. definitely out for the rest of the season especially as he’s having his foot reset. No doubt he will be back playing again but my one of my fears is will he be the same player. Smith’s injury ruined him as a player. I’m genuinely praying the same doesn’t happen to Valencia (I prayed for Smith back then as well!!!). Buggers up our wide options as he was one of the good things that happened last season and I really expected him to push on. This does give Obertan or Bebe the chance to come in and impress but sending Cleverly out for a full season loan without a recall option now seems daft. Just like it did in 06/07 when we sent loads of youth defenders out on loan.

  60. FletchTHEMAN says:

Thanks Scott! Hope Antonio is getting wind of the warm thoughts comin his way.

Classy from the Gunners who are on here today. Never visit their site but hope they have a good home like we have.

  61. Steve_G says:

that looked horrible, i cant imagine whats going through the young lads mind right now, hope he just focus’s on his rehab and worry about footy later

  62. Lovely.United says:

Got teary when OT erupted in applause, and Tony was taken off. Absolutely gutted. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer lad who oozes skill and class. He is the perfect footballer, and a great asset to the club, we have lost great class on that right flank.

All the best for recovery Tony V. My hearts with you, and can’t wait to see you back in red.
We’ll always be with you mate.
