Gibson Agrees £5m Sunderland Move

It is being reported that Darron Gibson has agreed a move to Sunderland after Manchester United accepted a bid for him last week. Wes Brown and John O’Shea were also a part of that offer, although it is understood Wes is more interested in a move to Everton.

Gibson had hoped to secure a first team place this season but has failed to impress when given the opportunity. United are in the hunt for a world class central midfielder, to add to what they’ve already got, and clearly Gibson has got the message he won’t feature much.

The Ireland international turns 24-years-old this year and knows he needs to start playing regularly. He will be joining the likes of Frazier Campbell, Phil Bardsley and Kieran Richardson, who also failed to claim a place in our team. With Jordan Henderson’s recent move to Liverpool, there’s a space in the side for Gibson, who will hope to fulfil the potential of a player who has scored against Bayern Munich and in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

    £5m is about right for Gibbo, maybe we could have got £6m. A decent player but just doesn’t appear to be United quality.

    Goodbye Gibbo. Personally i’ll miss his screamers but I guess we all knew he didn’t have it in him to be a United legend.
    All the best to him. I hope JOS stays.

  5. TonyBee says:

    good luck Gibbo……

  6. sachu says:

    good luck to you gibbo
    always remember you
    and pls dont score against us

  7. Flangeguzzler says:

    Wish him well but was never anywhere near the standard needed…£5million sounds good to me!!Would be sad to see Brown go, brilliant servant to the club, horribly unlucky with injuries!! Outstandin in 2008 and he played a massive part in the build up to the Ronaldo goal against Chelski in Champions League final. Completely off point,but Javi Martinez, id love to see him at United, not basing this on last nights game. I’ve watched him since he was at Osasuna!! i think he is class…though he is after signing a 5year contract last october i think so wouldnt come cheap!!

  8. bchilds says:

    @falsafa

    Yea I agree, I will be sad if John O’Shea leaves too. He’s a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 every game and can play multiple positions plus he does play a lot of minutes. Handy squad player to have around but, maybe at his age, he wants to be more of a 1st team player than squad player, he’s given us so many years of service it’s hard to begrudge him a move if it helps his career.

    I agree will falsafa.
    Hope O’shea stays
    bye bye Gibson

  11. United till i die says:

    decent price for Gibson hopefully he does well at Sunderland, like all ex Utd players who leave on good terms we hope he goes on to have a successful career.

    Wes wants to go to Everton, supposed there are worse places he could end up, if we could get 4-5 million for him it would be a good deal. Or if SAF has a interest in Rodwell maybe a Wes and some cash could get the deal done.

  12. lb349 says:

    Gibbo wasn’t quite good enough for United, but there’s no doubt he’ll be a top player for Sunderland. £5m is a bit of an insult to Gibbo when you look at what Henderson was just sold for. But good luck to him, I’m sure he’ll prove that even United’s back-up players are good enough to walk into just about every other side in the league.

  13. redevil_83 says:

    thx for your service gibbo. good luck next.

    i hope this is a signal that we are indeed getting a top CM soon

    Wish you well son. Hope you help Brucie put in better shifts v the other top 4 sides.

    Stealth United = Fergies plans for world domination.

    We don’t have to win more points as long as the other top sides drop points.
    Wish you well against everyone but us.

    Brown and O’Shea leaving? much more gutted about that. Understand Brown, but I want to here it from the gaffer or John himself before I will entertain any talk of O’Shea going. Just not right to leave all our trainees walk at one time.

  20. Clint-IamYourPapii says:

    Damn it, I hope this aint true, I want Gibbo to stay & prove the haters wrong like Fletch Did & O’Shea.
    He can fufill his potential at our club if he goes sunderland it will be wasted ability at a small club.

    For you fans that never supported gibson, Shame On You, You Tar The name of being a Manchester United supporter. Every United Player should be supported & cheered & Never Boo’d as he is Our Player ! Why Scapegoat a Guy that has had limited chances? A lot of players at our club have been considered not to be United Quality but they proved Grit & Determination can win the fans over (Nev,Fletch,O’shea, brown even nani to an extent, who else Alan smith, Louis Saha etc) So why the hell does a guy like Gibbo get so much flak I dont understand !

    * This is not directed at anyone in particular but those who scapegoated gibbo.
    Jokes & Constructive criticism is acceptable of course but not Meaningless abuse at our own.

    - I wish Gibson Good Luck if he leaves but I’d Rather see him stay as he is a academy product & Home Grown Player.

  21. Flangeguzzler says:

    @ MG unless he scores for Sunderland against us!! Then we get to blame him again!! :P haha

  29. Zibbie says:

    I would but I do not Tweet.

  30. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    @MG, I am pretty sure that next season we’ll lose to Sunderland and it will be Gibson’s fault actually this time.

    :lol:

  31. Fred says:

    We’re getting fucking ripped off here.

  32. time says:

    why the feck would anyone want to follow you on twitter….

  33. Robbinhood Savage says:

    After that Iniesta like pass against Schalke, i thought Fergie might keep him. But with players like Cleverley, Tunniclife and a new midfielder(maybe) coming in, he will only find himself down in pecking order. He had a very terrible season but i felt he might improve after that show against Schalke. I think after being spurred with abuses by our own fans in his twitter account he made up his mind to leave united. Anyway best of luck lad!

  34. Fred says:

    Jordan Henderson £20m
    Darron Gibson £5m

    Something not right there.

  35. soccerisfootbal says:

    great news imo. it’ll give cleverley more chances. gibbo is a decent player, but he’d never establish himself in the starting XI. cleverley now deserves his chance.

    but now that gibbo is out and scholes is out, surely more signings are too come?

    de gea and young won’t be the only business going on, it seems. c’mon modric..!! :D

  36. magicinthe6 says:

    I really wanted this kid to succeed. Had moments of greatness but few and far between. Always looked very stout in the middle of the pitch (albeit confused) and when could really lay into a ball. His problems to me where always is off-ball movement and finding that last pass. Good luck to him, he’ll be excited at sunderland

  37. heinnlinn says:

    bchilds… just followed you… now you follow me back! @heinnlinn

    OR ELSE!!

    just kidding… but seriously please follow me back!

  38. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    @Fred, Yeah, Gibson’s Irish.

    Case Closed.

  39. Robbinhood Savage says:

    Gibson looks far better than Henderson. But only 5 million?

  40. Costas says:

    As sad as it is to see any United lad leave, it’s the best for him. Good luck at Sunderland and thanks for everything Gibbo. Prove the doubters wrong and remember to sign autographs. ;)

    On the plus side, I like how the package deal is breaking apart. Wes deserves to play for a better club than Sunderland and Everton is one of them. And lets hope that O’Shea goes nowhere.

    @Fred

    Agreed. I wouldn’t say Henderson is 15 million pounds better either. Fucked up market…

  41. Costas says:

    Oh and we need a 5th midfielder imo.

  42. Robbinhood Savage says:

    @Balaji
    Oh Ok. That makes sense!

  43. bchilds says:

    It looks like the reason Henderson is £20m and Gibson £5m is because the football world has the opinion that Henderson is a promising youngster who will improve and that Gibson is at his peak.

    We have a history of not selling players for high enough transfer fees, remember Beckham’s transfer was only £25m – Real Madrid recouped that money in shirt sales alone within weeks!

  44. Rai says:

    Good luck Gibbo…to be fair it’s the right age for him to go if he expects regular first team football..he would have struggled next season with Cleverley back

  45. magicinthe6 says:

    @ bchilds

    I think ferguson purposley doesn’t hound other teams for the extra 1 or 2 million when selling a player so that he seems unmoved by hype. If repeated enough it sort of becomes “well if SAF says hes worth 3, than hes worth 3.” And i imagine this helps him when buying players who are “trending upwards”

  46. wayne says:

    Thought henderson was 13 mill +ngog so henderson cost 13mill

  47. arminio says:

    Never convinced when Gibbo played for us but he’ll be good for Sunderland I think. He was improving towards the end of the year but probably not quite the level of quality we require.

    Anyway, here’s a Player Profile for our new signing Phil Jones: http://mufcthoughts.blogspot.com/2011/06/phil-jones-profile-and-evaluation.html

  48. Fred says:

    The Black Cats have got the cream here.

  49. Zibbie says:

    Henderson is a fucking pool fool now, I read he created the 5th most scoring chances in the BEPL at 82 or so and he is English witch adds like a 37.23651% more to any transfer fee.

  50. T4M says:

  51. sachu says:

    @COSTAS
    mate do u think wes going for everton means we maybe in for rodwell
    i hope not
    anyway pls answer my following question
    my friend who is amanchester united fan told me that he fergie is ruthless in this market
    he feels with oshea maybe gone he might also sell park as he wants to bring in sanchez and sneider
    he also pointed out to me that park like oshea and wes is above 30 and has only a year on his contract
    and so that we will have nani valencia young sanchez as wingers
    is that posssible CAN WE SELL MY DEAR PARK

  52. johnbosco obiora says:

    Goodluck Gibson we still love you

  53. tolumnancunian says:

  54. Zelh says:

    looks like Jones is getting #4

  55. Pipzor says:

    Thanks for everything Gibbo! Will always remember his goal against Bayern Munich. Wish him the best!

  56. heinnlinn says:

    @Zelh I was hoping Rafael and Fabio would get #2 and #4…

  57. Rai says:

    Sachu who is your source?

  58. RedLife says:

    Good luck to him. 5 million is a sign of his quality. Those sad to see him go…..do you watch football? or do you like the idea of mid-table obscurity. That’s where we would go with more players of his class.

  59. Zibbie says:

    @sachu SAF said that about 8 weeks ago that one of his best qualities as a gaffer is making hard ass player decisions like Phill Nev and Nicky Butt, this was like foreshadowing of things to come. I have braced myself for something like O’Shea since then. I suspect more to come as well.

  60. Zibbie says:

    tolumnancunian says:
    sad times indeed as a united fan….van der saar, neville, scholesy, gibson, hargo,brown…damn it…

    I agree to a point, I’m also so fucking excited by the prospects ahead. Remember the only constant is change.

  61. captaink9 says:

    Well done Gibson Ull get the first team opportunity u crave. Money in the bank, will Sir add to the CM now??

  64. sachu says:

    @RAI
    no source mate
    me and my friend thinking of all sorts of possibilities
    an italian journalist apparentlysaid we want sanchez and sneijder
    and my friend seems to have a point that fergie wants to lessen the age with park wes oshea and berba going
    park and berba have only a year on there contracts
    and if welbeck and macheda stay then berba will go i am certain

  65. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    2 champions league semi final goals if im not mistaken

  66. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    What do you lot think of Nanis wish to one day play under mourinho. Not what i particularly want to hear. Im pissed off being the fascist farmer team and have fergie build squads around these ungrateful foreigners only to be shafted when they enter their prime. Time to get rid, adios nani.

  67. shubhangmanred says:

    @balaji haha! Yeah looking for followers, hows the off season going?

  68. bbabyj says:

    Not a big loss for us, but I thought we could have got at least £8m for him, tbh.
    Utd do have a habit of letting decent players go on the cheap.

  69. denton davey says:

    Gibson wasn’t good enough – he tried but he just didn’t have the star-dust. In comparison, John O’Shea isn’t really “good enough” and doesn’t have the star-dust BUT he’s experienced and extremely versatile and happy to be a squad player on a winning team. Therefore, John O’Shea’s value – to UTD – is probably double that of Darron Gibson.

    But what would John O’Shea’s value be to another club because he is now 30 ? In similar circumstances, SAF virtually gave away Phil Neville to Everton for about 2.5 million so I’d imagine that O’Shea would be priced at a roughly-similar level.

    Wesley Brown would be available for peanuts because UTD could drop his salary and don’t have to pay his medical expenses. He’s my favourite player and this is a real shame but it’s a mercenary business and lately – as in “what have you done for me lately” – Wesley has been a passenger on high wages. See ya !

  70. Stenis says:

    Could very well turn out to be a very good midfielder with regular playing time. Maybe never not quite good enough for a top team, but Gibson clearly has some quality.

  71. BloodRed says:

    5 million for Gibbo?
    An absolute bargain for Brucie. I would have been happier with 6/7 million, but yet again whoever it is negotiating our transfers has done a shit job.

    Also, J O’S wouldn’t fetch alot in the transer market, but he would cost around £10 million to replace! Hope he doesn’t go, hate to see the real United boys go :/

  72. bchilds says:

    @GoatinaUnitedShirt

    That could mean he would like to play under Mourinho but at United! I think we all know that, heaven forbid when Sir Alex leaves, Mourinho will be top of United’s shopping list.

    I don’t want him but he’ll be up there!

  73. sachu says:

    @zibbie
    is it true that park has only 1 year left on his contract
    well if so heis above 30 and like wes and oshea could be sold
    now that would be hard
    and if as kikos agent said kiko stays then then berba will be sold as 6 strikers is a luxury that nobody needs

  74. taj sagay says:

    Bye bye gibbo…..

  75. Haneff says:

    Great move for gibbo, we will miss u and we wish u best of luck at sunderland. But £5 pounds is too small for him at that age and potential.

  76. Passe says:

    Park will not be sold. Not under SAF, that’s a fucking certainty.

  77. parryheid says:

    Good luck to you Darren hope you excel with Sunderland.

  78. sachu says:

    @GOAT
    well dont say adios nani mate thats abit harsh
    like i have said before we shouldnt expect the foreign players tostay forever

  79. bchilds says:

    @sachu

    I thought Park had signed a new contract? Maybe there was just a new one on the table for him to sign after his holidays.

  80. Keegan4england says:

    O’Shea must stay!!!!!

  81. Colbert says:

    £5m is good money for a player like him.

    Bye Darron, thank you for giving your all for United.

    wow

    3 gone and United down to Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverly, Anderson and converted Giggs. Will be interesting to see what SAF pulls out of his hat now.

  85. Sir Shaggsy says:

    I cant believe we got that much for him.

    @TonyBee – I seem to recall when I said a few weeks back that Gibson was simply not good enough you were calling me a “Plastic Fan”
    Looks like me and Fergie agreed on Gibson.

  86. Sir Shaggsy says:

    I still do not believe Carrick,Evans and O`Shea are good enough either.
    I was also ripped to shreds when I said that BEBE would NEVER be good enough – guess what, he got off-loaded too.
    We will see what Fergie thinks now too.

  87. Zibbie says:

    For 2 maybe 3 months I have said MUFC will have a first team turnover of 5 to 10 players and some bashed me for this. All good in the RoM hood. Lets make some lists.

  92. Zibbie says:

    If a 5 foot women can accommodate up to 12 inches ( 1/5 her height) and I’m 6 foot hhhuuummmm? 6 goes into 25 how many times?

  93. Zibbie says:

    Low blood sugar, no excuses just a fact.

  94. Costas says:

    One final comment about Gibson. Hopefully his departure will signal the end of our players getting slagged off by our own fans just because they weren’t a combination of Xavi and Iniesta. I was never ashamed to be a United fan until the day those morons attacked Gibson on twitter.

    @sachu

    Of course never say never, but I’d be VERY surprised if Park was sold. Maybe Sir Alex feels he’s gotten as much out of Brown and O’Shea as he is going to get. Park on the other hand, despite his age, is still very valuable for our European tactics.

  95. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @RAI – LOL – Im not fit to polish Fergie`s shoes !

    I am just making the point that all the “blind faith” and “believe” mentality doesnt cut it on the pitch – we need to be able to make observations and criticisms on hear without receiving a load of abuse from some posters who think that EVERYTHING is ALWAYS – PERFECT !!!!

    I would also go so far as to say that Giggsy should do the honourable thing and call it a day now.
    Too much negative baggage and for all the titles and goals he scored – I am sorry but he fucked up big time – YOU JUST DONT FUCK YOUR BROTHERS WIFE

  96. Fred says:

    Costas – shame on you for being ashamed.

  97. slim says:

    WTF is going on here. 6 inches and masturbation tools. naughty naughty zibbie lol

  98. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @Costas – I have to disagree as regards Twitter abuse against Gibson – He went looking for “followers” to blow a load of sunshine up his arse and tell him how great he was.

    What he got was the full force of freedom of speech mate. If by “abuse” what he actually got was ” hurtful truths” then he asked for it – quite literally, by signing up.

    FYI – I dont do twitter – I think it is for self-obsessed twats.

  99. Costas says:

    @Sir Shaggsy

    By that logic lets start hurling abuse at Rio, Rooney, Valencia and Nani’s accounts too hey?

    I’m all for freedom of expression. Just like I am free to say that they were morons and you never turn against your own like that. How does that make us any better than the bitters or the scousers?

    Finally, I wouldn’t call them hurtful truths. Just opinions.

  100. Zibbie says:

    @slim my bad I was posted it on the wrong site. hehe not really. Just miss at a bad taste joke.

  101. Red Neville says:

    If Gibson’s leaving it can only mean one thing – we are about to sign another centre half or another right winger!!!

  102. Rai says:

    Sir Shaggsy – So you think Giggs should call it a day because of personal issues? I thought it was about cutting it “on the pitch”. I don’t think people supporting Gibson was blind faith. I think hurling abuse at your own players however, although it’s freedom of speech, is counter productive. If a player has a bad performance do you think he needs the public to tell him? If he’s having a bad season do you think he doesn’t know?

    Will “hurtful” truths actually help or do you think actually supporting the player will be a better method of getting the best out of them?

  103. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @ Costas – You have missed my point.

    If I were to make a comment on Rio – nani – Rooney – Valencia etc on Twitter it would be to say I think that they are good players who make a valuable contribution to the team. That is predominantly what fans say to them on Twitter I believe.

    Gibson obviously thought he was worthy of similar adulation – If I commented on Gibson it would be
    to let him know how distinctly poor he performs and how he hides during games.
    I didnt tell him my opinions but THOUSANDS did and it was THAT he interpreted as “abuse” when in fact it was just “opinion” that didnt meet his expectations.

  104. falsafa says:

    Gibbo was one of those United players who I always give numerous second chances, saying ‘maybe he’ll come of age in the next game, next season……
    But they never do. Remember Chris Eagles, Liam Miller etc.

    Hope this is not the beginning of obscurity to the Champioship.

    Goodnight all of you Reds.

  105. Stenis says:

    @falsafa You can still see that Eagles has great skill at times. Too bad he never reached any consistency and proper application of his skill.

  106. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @Rai – I do very much think it is about cutting it on the pitch. Giggsy showed against Barcelona that he isnt good enough against World Class midfielders and he ha slost his pace to play down the wings – He knows that too I suspect after the CL Final.
    If he isnt good enough should we continue to play him or try to find a player(maybe from the Youths)who can compete against the very best ?

    That isnt my point though, NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB, and to be honest, stories about players fucking their brothers wife, getting her pregnant and making her ahve an abortion do NOT cover the name of MANCHETSER UNITED any good whatsoever.
    If he really loves the club more than he loves the adulation he would stand down and make way for a younger player.
    There can be no sentimentality anymore for Ryan – His nice guy family man persona was a complete lie and it has brought shame on the club – I can forgive him his banging that groupie Imogen – although forgiveness is for his wife to do not me – BUT – knowing he has done the dirty on his OWN BROTHER – That actually makes him a cunt – Sorry to say it but as a Footballer he may be great but as a man he is a cunt for doing that to his Brother, His Blood.

    Before the “Hypocrisy” of my name is pointed out – It is actually to highlight how much he has lost – I would bet he was a sure thing for the Honours list this year and that would have been something to make the club proud -but that has been replaced with and Abortion and a destroyed family.

  107. Costas says:

    @Sir Shaggsy

    You said that he created a twitter account just to get smoke blown up his ass. And my point was, how does that make him any different than our other players then? Did they create twitter accounts for other reasons? Personally, I don’t buy into that at all. There are many different reasons why one joins twitter nowdays.

    The problem is that fans have mistaken what twitter is about. Players don’t join twitter to get their ass kissed or to receive abuse from fans that have nothing to do better in their lives than act tough over the keyboard. But despite that, Gibson shouldn’t have deleted his account. It made a small minpority seem more significant than they really are. And it made the rest of us feel bad to be associated with them.

  108. Costas says:

    As for Giggs, as much as he has has fucked up in his personal life, he’s earned the right to go out on his own terms. He’s always been good to us and the club and the least we can do is support him. Let his wife and his brother judge him for his attrocities.

  109. fergie is the boss says:

    Zibbie – for me pato is the alternitive to sanchez.

    no matter if any player is good or bad, 2 go and abuse him or do anything of the kind makes us lower than our rivals and off course the glory hunters

  110. Fred says:

    @falsafa, you sound like a complete dickhead. Why would you revel in a United player’s career taking a slide? Fuck off.

  111. fergie is the boss says:

    Sir Shaggsy – giggs has 1 fling and now he is the anti christ

    2 decades of destruction 1989 – 2011, and 1 fuck up in 2011. means he is a hated figure, see how that makes no sense.

    All I care about is, giggs has made me happy for 17 years and that aint gonna change my view on ryan, what he does in his personal life is his buisness not myn or anyone else’s for that matter. I wonder how many fans have made some fuck ups in their lives and now they are taking the high moral ground, pethetic.

  112. T4M says:

    Sir Shaggsy,Spot on mate.Giggs should step down now.he doesn’t deserve sentiments.He fucked up. Big time because he couldn’t control his dick.This scandal will drain him.He will play so much like a 37yr old next season.He’s about to hit a brick wall that’s for sure.

  113. Red rob v says:

    He was not good enough – leave it be.
    Let him move on like the rest of us.

  114. MG says:

    John Terry had dick problems he isn’t finished yet

    Jeepers fucking creepers

  115. Costas says:

    Tiger Woods didn’t retire either if I recall. Some would love to see Giggs retire in shame. Don’t give them that satisfacion.

  116. fergie is the boss says:

    T4M – so because he couldnt coontrol his dick he should go, rooney ronaldo anderson nani lets go to the 60s goergie best, he drank had sex and mad teams look like complete idiots

  117. Costas says:

    @FITB

    Funny you should mention Wayne. I don’t remember anyone here complaining about him cheating on his pregnant wife when he banged in the goal against City, do you? ;)

  118. Rai says:

    Sir Shaggsy –

    So because Giggs didn’t perform against Barca he should retire? You could be right…Rooney & Ronnie should have retired after the 2009 Final performance because they obviously weren’t up to the task against world class opposition……

    I’m not going to get into Giggs’ personal life because I won’t pretend to be an angel – but look at past players like Best…do you think he was an angel? Would you still call him a cunt?

  119. T4M says:

    Fergie is the boss,I’m not implying he should retire because of the scandal as it has nothing to do with football.What I’m saying is that he should go because this scandal will affect his performance.At this stage of his career,Giggs doesn’t have to go through getting booed at away grounds.Its not worth it.Giggs will start playing like Gary Neville did this season.

  120. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @Costas – Tiger Woods has plumetted in form and I would be amazed if the same doesnt apply to Giggs.

    Woods didnt fuck his brothers wife,
    Some things ARE worse than others and fucking your brothers wife is worse than fucking a hooker or a porn star – That is for the guys wife to judge.
    Knowing someone is prepared to fuck their own brothers life up makes it impossible for me to like the guy and I cant support someone I dislike unfortunately.

    If Gary Glitter had played brilliantly for United I wouldnt want him to play either – OK – Giggsy`s “crime” isnt any where near as bad but it illustrates that I dont just support a red shirt – I have to support the guy wearing it and feel he honours it both on and off the pitch.

  121. Rai says:

    T4M – Loyalty to the club is what matters to me. He’s been a brilliant servant to us and anyone who is willing to turn their back on him should be ashamed

  122. Zibbie says:

    I live in a glass house.
    Giggs is a MUFC great and will help the new players coming in and moving up.
    The Rooney thing is not quit apples to apples as far as hate or defense goes because he was negotiating the biggest contract of his career also, so I gave slack on many of his personal attacks from so many for months then in like April I had enough of it and spoke out.
    Part of the BEPL is like a swingers holiday at Sandles, he and his wife could have an open relationship? Who knows and if you ware Black Robes of a Judge or are the second coming of the Lord, have judgment every thing else is opinion and like an ass whole we all have one.

  123. Costas says:

    @Sir Shaggsy

    What Rai said just above. No one has to like him anymore, but he is still the same United legend he always was and that won’t change.

  124. Zibbie says:

    Sir Shagadelic

    Woods didnt fuck his brothers wife,

    If he had a brother he would have fucked his wife.

  125. NBI Red Onion says:

    @ bchilds

    Re – getting more than 6 million for Gibson – note – he sold for just a little less than the Pea….!

    Good luck to him, I do not know if we saw the best of him, but it is clear SAF is not going to wait to find out if he can make the grade as a midfield player. I guess that also speaks of the pressure of competition, these guys break into the first team and they have a smaller and smaller window to prove themselves before they are shifted elsewhere, unless ofcourse, SAF sees them as utility squad players in which case they will stick around until the youth need to be bled in – I think that is why O’Shea and Wes are being out on the market like cured hams in a Spanish harem – SAF clearly wants to use youth as the utility squad players and they need to move on to make room….!

    Re Sir Ryan – cannot see him ever being a “Sir” now….loves that line if it’s true – I was not unfaithful, I have a sickness called sex addiction and need support and treatment – Mr Giggs – you ability to pick a pass remains as cool off the field as on the field, and no doubt your habit of scoring each season is also perfectly complimentary – bit please – we still do need you at United if you can bear the taunts which will no doubt fall like hailstones of humiliation and ridicule around you – not an easy path – and I understand if he bows out now, though I think he still has a few years of value left in him…

  126. Zibbie says:

    Giggs coach on the field, strong on the training pitch. Wow he can be an asset in so many ways.
    GO ROONEY !!!!!!!! STILL MY FAVORITE PLAYER !!!! he he, player. don’t hate the player hate the game.

  127. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @ Zibbie – LOL

    Youre right mate – Woods would definitely have shagged his brothers` wife if he had one.
    He was basically fucking anything that stood still long enough.

  128. JC says:

    So caughtoffside (i know i know lol) reporting a Redknapp move to try to get Rio, straight up bs or not ‘Arry’s been linked before to trying to sign Ferdinand away so maybe he thinks now is the time since we have Smalling playing so well and Jones on the way. Rio for Modric straight up? Good/bad/never happen? whatcha guys think?

  129. xol says:

    Agree 5m is ridiculous. Still it’s good for stealth United. I liked what Sunderland did at the chavs last season.

    Regarding Ryan, it’s a weird one because those who say they’re disappointed in Giggs for being unfaithful are dealing with it by showing a lack of faith.

  130. wayne says:

    Gibson never got a regular run of games so to judge him a failure is wrong,ffs some fans just make me laugh so fucking clueless its doesn’t matter how good a player is it takes game time to get the level of fitness,timing and confidence,gibson was never given a chance to achieve those 3.to slag off a player is wrong and all the fans who did that have no fucking clue just a bunch of ignorant cunts not fans

  131. fergie is the boss says:

    T4M – I am shocked by the latest scandel about giggs and the child, but no fan can hate giggs, heck this is the first scandel we have heard about giggs, so all fans can give him a break he has earned it

  132. Rai says:

    Sorry to turn this thread off topic but the Giggs issue is one that pisses me off. He’s dedicated his career to our club and supporters. He’s never let us down and as soon as he gets bad press people are ready to let him go. I can’t get my head around it.

  133. T4M says:

    JC,caughtoffside is full of shit.beleve a word there.

  134. Costas says:

    @wayne

    I’d agree with that. I won’t call him a failure until I see how he does once he gets to play regular football at Sunderland or anywhere else. At 24, Fletcher wasn’t getting more games at United either. That could have very easily been him leaving in the summer of 08.

  135. Zibbie says:

    When your a good looking Alfa dog, the ladies throw their tail and the air and start rubbing on your leg. Most men never experience this and have no clue what it take to turn a women down. There is no good way to do it and many want revenge because you don’t mount them like a rutting Buck. Human women are no different from animals in heat.
    In WWII they blood tested for many things, along with all these medical test they checked paternity of their children in married couples. Like one in 9.5 kids were some other guy’s kid. Yes one in eight. They never released it at the time and years latter due to records released the study was found. This blew the dudes away so the repeated the study with modern technology. Blood test from thousands of happily maired couples and their children, the results were a tad different IT WAS ONE ON 9 NOT LIKE .5, so guys on this site have a one in eight chance the kid sleeping in the bedroom is not yours!!!!!! In a room with 100 families due the math it is a fucking trip.
    How many cherries did you pop? The studs pop many cherries in their youth.
    Guys fuck around, and some guys get most the stay ass.

  136. parryheid says:

    Nobody I think is disputing the quality Ryan Giggs has produced year on year for Manchester United.As a player he has been first class.Ryan Giggs the man, first class Slug.Bitter disappointment false idol.

  137. T4M says:

    Costas,I’m pretty sure gibson will do well at sunderlan’.Less pressure more game time.And playing at these standards will help him when he plays there.Cleverley had better impress or else he will follow gibson to sunderland.On Giggsy,he was meant to be an ambassador to the club.Yes he gave a lot and not even this can take away his legacy from him but his actions have been disgraceful.but hey,we’re all humans we will always fuck up!

  138. Rai says:

    Costas & Wayne – good points guys. We have a lot of fickle fans unfortunatley…all you need to do is mention Berba, Carrick, Gibbo and now Giggs and they all seem to surface…

  139. wayne says:

    Costas. Another thing half the time when he did play played out of position

  140. Zibbie says:

    Sir Shag some people are necrophiliacs, it’s a sick and wild world out there mate.

  141. Costas says:

    @Zibbie

    Thanks for the positive thinking. :lol: I wish that could fully justify Giggs, but it can’t mate. His sister in law is definitely not a victim in this and the fact that she fucked around with Yorke, Simpson and Bardsley speaks volumes about her. But he should have avoided it.

  142. Zibbie says:

    one in nine fuck only if I could type!!!!

  143. Zibbie says:

    Costas no justification from me, just put it out there. I am crushed by his deeds personally. That is just my opinion.

  144. Zibbie says:

    well I hope we get a killer CAM !!!!!

  145. Costas says:

    @T4M

    It’s best to leave time decide that. It’s fair to say that whoever didn’t want him to become a sir has a good platform now. But in terms of his United legacy, I think it would take a crime to tarnish that and thakfully he hasn’t gone that far. But he needs help on a personal level. On a professional one, I hope OT will be his home just like it always has. As for Cleverley, I think he will need time. I hope his story ends differently than Gibson’s. Not many of the midfielders that start at our Academy make a career at OT.

    @Rai

    In a way mate, I miss the Berba debates. They seemed more simple, lol. Anyway, so much whining going around, that it’d be easy to forget that we won the 19th title this year. ;)

    @wayne

    True that. And it didn’t help that he didn’t get a run of consecutive games and a chance to build some momentum. At least he left on a pretty high note with his performance against Schalke.

  146. T4M says:

    Zibbie I really hope as well.The CM will decide whether its been a good summer or not.I just realised we could have up to 10 players out this summer.WOW!

  147. Costas says:

    @Zibbie

    Yeah I know. And I don’t disagree a great deal with your opinion. Both sides fucked up.

    We definitely need a killer cam, as much as Imogen Thomas needs a killer cum. ;)

  148. Sir Shaggsy says:

    @Zibbe @T4M

    Agreed boys – The CM is where we will have to “put up or shut up” We really do need to buy proven quality (Like Schneijder,Modric,Ozil,Schweinsteiger) or we will reach the CM final again and get beaten by Barcelona ….. AGAIN.

    I dont like saying that, but it is a fact – Howvere much people say “BELIEVE” before the Kick Off.

  149. Cyril Sneer says:

    What Ryan or Wayne do in their private lives is none of my business, and if it wasnt for the scum British press and the ridiculous ‘celebrity’ cult we have where every cunt needs to know everyone else’s business, nobody would even know about this and it could be dealt with by their family as they see fit. As long as they work hard on the pitch and do what the manager asks of them that’s good enough for me.

    Elvis cheated on Priscilla but he’s still the King yah?

    I’ll go back to making joke posts about Dalglish now.

    Oh and PLEASE FERGIE SIGN BENDTNER.

  150. T4M says:

    @Sir shaggsy agreed BELIEVE is bullshit if there’s no talent.its just vasically begging for a miracle.the signings of young and jones hasn’t strengthened us.With up to ten players going I wonder who fergie intends on bringing in.We’ll have to wait till July.

  151. Rai says:

    T4M – Young and Jones haven’t strengthened us? Are you saying they’ll make no improvement on the squad at all? I bet you said the same about Smalling and Hernandez eh? Im not pretending to be an expert scout and say i knew they’d both be awesome players but I didn’t doubt the manager. If we signed a south American for 30 million everyone would be excited…we can’t sign every tom dick and sanchez and expect them all to gel. That’s Citeh’s philosophy not ours. The gaffer will buy who he sees fit.

  152. T4M says:

    Rai,I’m not saying they’ll flop but they won’t solve the real problem we have which is in Centre Midfield.

  153. Rai says:

    T4M – I’m sure that’s an area that the manager will address but the other signings shouldn’t be discarded as any less important. With Hargreaves, Gibson and Scholes going and only Cleverley coming back…I can’t imagine not signing a CM…

  154. Djunfitforwork says:

    I don’t see why we don’t go for Schneider. He’s more or less the next best thing to the Barca midfielders. The reason why it is acceptable and not “plastic” to hope for Marquee signings from time to time -is this. We are the best supported team in the World -not just a “local team for local people”. Hence -upgrading can reap rewards in terms of global support -and is not just “money down the drain” -as it would be in the case of -say -Stoke.

  155. fergie is the boss says:

    Sir Shaggsy – what the hell are you talking about, ozil does not play in CM. He plays behind the striker, so do some reseacrh and have a look where ozil actual plays. Heck I have been craming by saying united need to sign scneijder, but will wesley be able to play in a 2 man CM, when even wesley himself is best playing behind the striker, or a 3 man midfield changing everything in how we play

    T4M – young and jones has strengthened the team, long term and improving on what we have out wide.

    because 1 – young gives united another direction of pace down the left, that he is an actual left side player unlike nani and valencia.

    2 – he is brilliant at set pieces, its 1 area we have lost since CR7 left the club

    3 – united were afully sort on the flanks. Nani is awfully inconsistent still, valencia has just come back from injury. So signing young makes sense, and his versatility is worth another 10 million

    4 – jones long term is gonna make sense, ferdinand 32, so united need to look to replace rio and vidic in the long term.m when vidic turns 30 soon all we have at centre half who are young is evans and smallen, so another centre half is needed in the long run

  156. alan says:

    agree with everything Sir Shaggsy said, espicially the BELIEVE stuff, and about Giggs fkin up.

    People on here that say we don’t care about his private life are a bit hypocritical because every single united fan ripped Terry to shreds about the Bridge incident and what Giggs has done is 10 times worse.

  157. Rai says:

    DJunfitforwork – Shall we redesign our kits so they look like Barca’s too? How about change to 4-3-3 because it works for barca? Fergie said they are the challenge but I don’t think he meant we need to beat them at their own game. We can’t remodel out whole team on Barca. I would like Sneijder because he’s a good player – not because he’s the next best thing to the Barca midfield. “next best” still implies inferior so how would that help?

  158. Zibbie says:

    FITB thanks for the Pato instead of Sanchez thought.

  159. Zibbie says:

    @ DJunfitforwork if the window closed and all Man Utd got was a Keeper and Jones and Young I would wonder to. SAF has a plan and it is June 13 th take a breath, a shot and a bong and chill no need to bash Jones and Young.

  160. Zibbie says:

    SAF will find some X-factor for us BELIEVE !!!!
    World class talent Rooney, Vidic, Rio, Evans, Nani. Lil Pea ect. there is much to BELIEVE IN !!!!

  161. Zibbie says:

    Evra my bad with Evans opps.

  162. alan says:

    Rai

    ‘I would like Sneijder because he’s a good player – not because he’s the next best thing to the Barca midfield. “next best” still implies inferior so how would that help?’

    In order to become better than someone you must first admit you are inferior. Fergie did it when he first came, by putting Liverpool on that perch and saying he wanted to knock them off it. He realised they were the better team at the time and worked at improving us, now we are the better team.

    I think a new strategy needs to be devised, perhaps by taking some of their own traits and interpreting them, The defensive approach is what teams play against them and although it occassionally works, Barca have proven they can overcome it as well

    Watch this video on how they play, it’s seriously very good. : http://t.co/tvRCO2d

  163. fergie is the boss says:

    Zibbie – we also have the x factor, and his name is sir alex ferguson

  164. Whiteside says:

    Freudian slip there Zibbie lol.

  165. carBANGrick says:

    the one trick pony is gone, when is carsick’s turn?

  166. Whiteside says:

    One trick beats no tricks, assmunch.

  167. Wakey says:

    @Fred & @Bchilds

    What you need to realise about the Gibson vs Henderson deal is.

    1) Gibson isnt a youngster anymore, he is a good few years older
    2) Henderson did more on the field in a single season than Gibson did in his whole career (yes at a weaker club so got more chances but Gibson hardly set the world alight on loan either)
    3) Sunderland were not wanting rid of Henderson, United were willing to offload Gibson
    4) Henderson moved up a level going to Liverpool who are a bigger club. Gibson is going down levels. Less prestigious clubs usually can demand more for their players and pay less when buying players

    @Sir_Shagsy
    What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. Giggs has apparently denied having an affair with her (going as far as accusing Rhodri and her being invoved in conconcting a story to cash in and ruin him) so why are you taking her word?

    We have a women here who clearly wanted out of her marriage and for all we know she is using the Imogen thing to get out of her marriage with a load of cash. Seeing as she is selling stories that she also was having affairs with Yorke, Simpson and Bardsley as well so she is hardly coming across as the most trustworthy source. Even her stories are filled with contriditions.

    So at this time we should be giving him the benefit of the doubt. The papers want to sell copies and know they won’t get in trouble so the never check these stories, there is even some evidence they have helped make stories up in the past and we should know that just based on the stories they wrote about the club

  168. King Eric says:

    CarBANGrick. Fuck me you repetetive boring cunt has Carrick fucked your misses or summat? All you do is post bile about him. You never post about any other topic. Do us a favour and fuck off and die yourself. You aint a United fan just a Wum.

    Costas rai fitb. Good posts as usual lads. Some of the comments about Giggs are truly sickening. Ryan will still perform next season. No matter what he does off the pitch he does the business on it. Fucking laughable.

    Good luck Gibbo.

    Right back to bed now.

  169. Ash says:

    Guys This cunt Carbangrik is a city fan.I was once reading an article in MEN and there guy named Carbangrik was supporting city and talked shit about united.He must be the same person.
    Another reason Why city willl always be a small club

  170. Zibbie says:

    FITB Zibbie – we also have the x factor, and his name is sir alex ferguson
    Your so right hahahahahahahaha. No more of and evil scientist laugh MMMMUUUUUUHHHHAHHHHAHHHHAHHHAHAHAHAHa

  171. Costas says:

    @Ash

    No surprise there. The troll sounds like a City fan anyway.

  172. united.george says:

    Goodbye Gibson and good luck…will never forget the goal against Bayern!

  173. TheFamousClassOf92 says:

    Gibson was a good player…… but we need better….. it was the right time to go!
    i think he will be a better player than Henderson, coz of his experience! itz a good deal for Sunderland and Manchester United!

  174. Red Devil says:

    I for cant understand why we are talking about Tiger Woods and fucking brother’s wifes on a thread about Darron Gibson ?!

    Is this an episode discussion of Sex and the City….If people are so outraged by Ryan Giggs shagging his brothers wife ( I dont condone it too…shameful if it is true), then why do people need to keep repeating it in every damn thread….

    If you dont like it, then dont talk about it

  175. Costas says:

    @Red Devil

    Hi mate. You know how it is. If the Sun and the Daily Mail call our player a disgrace that should retire this summer, they have to be right. And fans fall for it. Just like they did when the rags kept labeling Berbatov a flop.

  176. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    On-topic, I wouldn’t really say Gibson wasn’t good enough. We thought Fletcher wasn’t good enough at that age and look where that has got us. The biggest difference in their cases is that when Fletch came along there wasn’t a superior bunch of youngsters behind him fighting to take his place. That allowed Fletch to work on the weaknesses at the highest level and become the beast that he is today.

    But Gibson probably realized that with Cleverley, Pogba, Tunnicliffe and Morrison, arguably our best bunch since 1992, he will be overshadowed because they have more going for them than he does at his age. Maybe he would’ve been good enough had he gotten a real chance to bed himself into the first team like Fletcher did, we may never know.

    Fair play to him for moving on and good luck to him anywhere he goes.

  177. woodsie 85 says:

    Bye bye Gibson nice lad not united quality thou but I think imo we should ov used him as bait to get cattermole a tough tackling cover every defencive blade ov grass for ya cm just the player we need behind a new creative cm :-)

  178. Red Devil says:

    @Costas

    Hello mate….seriously some people need their heads re-examined…Its one thing not liking a player and expressing a constructive criticism…but to continuously slag off a person is not expected of United fans
    When I read your “remember to sign autographs” I was laughing my head off…I can still remember that thread some months ago…absolutely hilarious…

    @ Balaji
    Let it be mate….Gibson isn’t top quality and you know it mate….He gave his all and thats all that can be asked of a person, but in his case I dont think his all is good enough for a player at United…I mean Kleberson also had a few good games for us few and far between, but everybody slags off Kleberson as one of our worst signings ever….I think its more to do with sentiment in Gibson’s case because he is from our youth team…but seriously I think it was best for everybody that he moved on…he was never going to get enough game time here to improve himself…

    Good luck and hope you do well Gibbo…but not against us…Hope he scores plenty against Le Arse and Chelsea and the dippers!

  179. Balaji Sivaraman says:

    @Red Devil, Oh yeah, I agree that the best thing for all parties was moving on especially now because we may get to see more of the next bunch of lads. I was merely stating that we may never know how good he might’ve been for us (like Gary or Fletch who were written off when they were younger) but, of course, that is a hypothetical situation and there is no use talking about it really.

    So, Good Luck to Gibbo. Sir Alex’s “covert ops” FTW.

  180. 90+UntilWeScore says:

    So many people want him to go, the deal’s not yet official still we are seeing goodbye messages. If Gibbo is to go, I would be really disappointed. I think he’s a good player and most importantly, he knows the club ethos and genuinely loves the club. See people’s celebration in bench to understand this. Talent alone is bullshit , attitude matters and Gibbo has good attitude. If he goes I hope him good luck, and Bruce to get decent players alongside him.

    Unless Ryan Giggs acknowledges that he fucked up on his brother, I dun take the word of the press.It’s all bull, I bet there are 100 other females who might have had just a fkin drink with him somewhere and now who are going to come out and say, Ryan Giggs fucked me. We’ve had some great seasons after such turmoil, read Ronaldo read Cantona read Becks, sure as hell fuck me I dun care as long as Ryan Giggs is tearing you apart and occasionally now running down the wing :D

  181. bounce says:

    all of the best to you gibbo but i cant realy say im sad.i’ll remember your mouthwatering goals,but i sadly do remember myself almost having a go at you through my t.v screen.but you were one of us and i respect you for that

  182. MyCowIsTheBest says:

    comments here are much better than at the previous thread on Gibbo. good to see it like this. more appreciative of our player.

    Just want to repeat. One Gibbo is a million times better than a million United fans who call him names.

    Anyway, he is still here, still our player as of today. And i am proud of him.

  183. andy_19_george says:

    would be a real shame to loose Gibson, could have been a great player for us. Fergie must have a couple of signings in mind to afford to let a CM leave ontop of Scholsey going & probably Hargreaves as well. I hope Sheasy doesnt leave, such a good club man, a lot of United fans i know cant stand him, it fucks me right off, you dont play as many games for United as he does by being a bad player!

  184. BerbaGod says:

    Sad to see him go like any player that has graduated from the academy but think the timing is right for both parties involved. Still think £5m is a bargain for him though was thinking more along the £8m figure. Good luck to the lad, he’s a very good player and will come good for Sunderland, no doubt about that. Maybe playing in central midfield there was too much pressure – but I guess that’s being a Manchester United player – thought he did really well in the Champions League though – wonder what that says?. Reckon Gibbo will probably score the best goal next season. *SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!*

    I loved that line mate.

  187. Costas says:

    @Red Devil

    Yeah mate, that was the most stupidity I’ve encoutered on this blog. He didn’t sign an autograph. What a crime against humanity! :lol: At least it’s always refreshing to see that for every fan slagging off a player of ours, we have 4-5 supporting them.

    I hope Gibbo does well from now on. Some might think that this was the end of the road for him, but like Balaji, I’ll always wonder if things might have been different for him at United. Like for example, if he didn’t have as much competition ahead of him. Look how Fletch finally got a chance to shine after Hargo got injured and Ando’s form dipped in 08-09. But we will never know. At least he left on a high note with a very good performance against Schalke and a Scholes like assist for Antonio’s goal. ;)

  188. BerbaGod says:

    @ sachu – Morning mate. Yeah it’s a shame Gibbo leaving, think he’s got very good ability plus able to put a shift in and not afraid to put his foot in not to mention the absolute zinger of a right boot he has and he’s left ain’t half bad either! The closest we’ll get to Sir Bobby in terms of power and techique. The Mackems have got themselves a bargain.

  189. BerbaGod says:

    And anyone who thinks Jordan Henderson is better than Gibbo at this moment in time seriously needs their heads examining. Good headline from F365 – ‘£20m Hendo Looks Like Young Barry’ – maybe thats what they wanted :P

  190. Red Ben says:

    A good player, but not a great one, Gibbo.

    http://www.fivecantonas.com/darron-gibson-sunderland-loss-great/

    I’m sure he’ll do very well at Sunderland, but with all the midfielders we’re chasing, we’re not likely to see much more of him in our first team.

  191. rohan19 says:

    “An agreement with Manchester City? Sanchez’s future is still wide open,” Fernando Felicevich told La Gazzetta dello Sport

    “We’re working on it, after meetings with City, today we will have new appointments.”

    And one of those meetings is reportedly due to be with United in the Catalan capital, where they will also talk with Barcelona.

    seems like its becoming more of a three way tussle

  192. Newton Heath Red says:

    Why do we always pay over the odds and recieve under the odds? if Henderson was 20mil then surely we deserve more for Gibbo

  195. Onside says:

    Er, I think you’re confusing Bayern Munich with Schalke there, ed. Gibson did score against Bayern, but that was in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It was this season against Schalke that he scored at the semi-final stage.

    Pedantic? Me?

    There’s also the question of repeated sales to Sunderland – Phil Bardsley, Kieran Richardson, Frazier Campbell, and now Darron Gibson (and perhaps Wesley or John O’Shea).

    This relationship has been advantageous to both sides – UTD get cash, Sunderland get a player who has been schooled in a professional academy and was considered an “almost man”. Sunderland are not in the business of winning trophies – they’re in the business of keeping afloat in the EPL so those players (and loanees like Danny Welbeck) are more than a little-bit-useful for them.

    WIth professionally-groomed players like Bardsley, Richardson, Campbell, and Gibson, Sunderland pay for that experience with something akin to a guarantee that the player they’re signing will be “good enough” to be an EPL journeyman.

    From Sunderland’s position, selling Bent for 24 million and Henderson for 20 million provides an ample war-chest for a team that needs to stay in the top-flight but, in reality, will only be able to win a trophy through a cup-run. It’s tough to break into the “big 4″ – look who is on the outside looking in: Spurs, Everton, and Aston Villa; and, of course, it’s even harder to stay in the “big 4″ Just ask the nostalgic dreamers who support LiverPoo and LeedsScum.

    The other side of the equation – i.e., UTD’s side of the deal – is all about having a golden goose.

  197. Zibbie says:

    @Louis Pato is a young Argentine who play CAM and LW google him and look at the U-Tube

  198. Mattbw7 says:

    Relative value of Gibson and Henderson, Gibson is at a big club where its percieved he wont make the grade and is the subject of a bid from a midtable team, Henderson is at a midtable team and is the subject of a bid from a “big club” (it matters not Liverpools recent lack of success, thier ambition and reputation remains) and there you have it.

    Unless you see Gibson going to Sunderland as a progressive move for the player?

  199. willierednut says:

    I’m glad he’s going, he was on the receiving end of some shocking abuse on here and other United websites. I hope he makes the best of this move, he deserves some respect. Sunderland fans will take to him. If he gets the games, he’ll bang the goals in, no doubt.

  200. Sparkz says:

    Personally, I think we should’ve got another £2-3 million for him- this is still a young player with Champions League knockout experience. However, as Denton said earlier- we have an advantageous 2 way relationship with Sunderland, can rely on them to take youngsters on loan and give them plenty of Premier League experience etc- so this probably played a part. If he’d gone to another club, I’m guessing we would’ve demanded a higher price.

    Just because he hasn’t made the grade at Utd, doesn’t make him a bad player. It’s just that at Utd, you need that something extra. He can still be a good success for them, no question about that.

    I would still keep one out of Wes/JOS- not just for sentimentality, but also for their experience and because they know what Utd is all about. If they do both go, definitely think we should get £10-12m for the pair of them though (with JOS being the higher valued player, he signed a contract last year as well I think?).

  201. smartalex says:

    Gibson’s wages are also a factor. I’m sure that the original (12 million 3 players) deal came with the acceptance that their wages need to be high. United look after their players, and that includes ensuring that they land well after leaving.

  202. denton davey says:

    Sparkz @ 17:52: “we should get £10-12m for the pair of them”

    That’s just not realistic – they both are on high weekly wages which will lower their sell-on value. In Wesley’s case his sell-on value must have fallen down to almost . For John O’Shea, I’d be surprised if UTD could receive more than three-four million and if that’s the case then he’s worth more to keep at UTD, unless it’s already decided that his handyman-role is going to go to Jonny Evans.

  203. Sparkz says:

    Denton- I’d disagree. You have to look at the contract situation as well. I’ve just checked that JOS has a deal that runs until 2015. That in itself has to have an effect, if Gibson who had just a year remaining went for £5m- I fully expect JOS to go for at least £6-7m. Anything much less than that and I will be quite disappointed.

    I see your point about Wes, I still think we can get a couple of million for him though.

  204. james21 says:

    Good luck to him. Just hope he remembers his footballing roots when he’s lining up a shot on our goal. All the very best Gibbo.
