Would kinda agree with you Scott. Although early doors - plus play him in his position.

How would you all feel DG following in DF's footsteps - would you allow him the same amount of time Fergie has shown in DF?

...for me, no.

(for tonight) come on Utd!

In my oppinion, Gibson will reach a similar level to Fletcher but hopefully will score a few more goals. So in that respect, definatley a United squad player.

As for Possebon, we need to remember he is a couple of years younger than Gibson. The injury he suffered certainly knocked his confidence, but that will improve over time. Possebon certainly has potential, but I think its too early to judge whether or not he 'has' it.

Why do people slate Butt to praise either Gibson or Possebon? I understand the need for comparison. But Nicky Butt was a very versatile player. He can play holding or box-to-box style. He made it in to the best XI during the 2002 WC. The current crop of youngsters need playing time to boost their confidence. I am sure in two years time we will see them quite often in the first team.

Nobody is hating anyone here, we're all United supporters, so lets support both Gibson & Possenbon. Best thing that can happen is both of them grow to be great players! Thou I wouldnt really mind if they became the next Fletchers, every team needs these kind of players, quiet, loyal and gets on with their business without all the complaints. Just ask Liverpool (read Agger), Chelsea (read Drogba) & Arsenal (read Adebayor). I'm sure all managers would love to have someone like Fletcher or O'Shea. Bench players who are not going to set the world alight, but gets the job done somehow. We dun need world class players in all the positions, what is going to win us the lot is our strength in depth, period

GIbson is similar to Carrick, imo. I think he's a good player. Doesn't always seem to be able to hit top form though, but when he does i reckon he looks pretty decent. Seems to have come on a bit this season though.
Possebon is quality. Am surprised to hear so many negative comments. He definitely has "it".

Most of us thought Davy Jones had 'it' and he ended up being sold on.

You never know with SAF!

I think both Gibson & Possebon both are at the same level now. Slightly different in style, with Gibson the typical British style of pass & run while Possebon holds his ground more in a more continental approach. It is unfair to say who is better at the moment, as reserve games are hardly a benchmark. If it was, we would have a production line of galacticos! Someone got it spot on, in my opinion, that as of now, they are both the next Fletchers rather than Keane/Carrick. Lets not slate any of them, and cheer them on and hope they grow. Just remember, Carrick was no where when he was at their age

The papers feel the need to compare
past and present players and being
an Irish midfielder the obvious link
was Roy Keane. I looked through
the papers today and the only thing
they seem to have in common is
that they are both midfielders,
both played for Eire and they
debuted for United at similar ages.

Playing style didn't get a mention
which, once apon a time, was the
only worthy comparison between
players.

If Magnus Ekkrem makes it he'll be
compared to Ole, if we, for some
obscure reason, buy Kenwyne Jones
he'll be compared to Dwight Yorke,
Rooney and Tevez have been compared
to Yorke and Cole, Berbatov to
Cantona, Tosic to Beckham, any
flop to Veron, Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba
and Forlan, there's a long list of players
that have been compared to George Best
over the years and the list goes on and on,
I just don't pay that much attention.

With regards to Gibson, he looks encouraging
but I would certainly place more trust
in Rodrigo.
