Giggs Chuffed With Fulham Performance

Ryan Giggs spoke to MUTV after our 5-0 win over Fulham and claims it’s great getting to play in the centre of midfield when the players in front of him create so much space for themselves.

“It’s been a good few weeks,” said Giggs. “You saw what we’re capable of (at Fulham) and that’s the standard we set ourselves. It was a similar story at Queens Park Rangers. There, we just didn’t finish the chances off. Today we managed to score the goals. To come to a place like Craven Cottage and have that sort of movement and interplay was first-class. For myself and Michael Carrick in midfield, the movement in front of us was brilliant. Obviously the defending was good as well. But when you have so many options on the ball – people running in behind, people dropping in the hole – we’re a very difficult team to play. The performance was really pleasing.”

I hope we give some playing time to pogba and morrison. atleast have them in the subs and give them some much needed time. we too will get to see what they are capable of and they will play without pressure.

I’ll put my hand up and say I was concerned with Giggs and Carrick in the centre of the park, especially Giggs against a tough Fulham team. I am happy to say I was proved wrong in oh’ so many ways. Brilliant team performance and Giggs played very well. #Legend

  14. CedarsDevil says:

I am surprised no one picked up on the look a like comparison between Jones and Stan Laurel as made by Mike on the other thread…… I thought it was frigging hilarious and spot on, especially if you look at the poor lad’s face as he was being taken off last night.

I take comfort in believing that the ABU all feel a certain amount of trepidation (I’m being diplomatic) about United coz they know that we’ve been beset with every kind of injury known to doctors and not all of our players are really playing at their best…and yet we’re still right up there, thumping teams and turning blue shorts a shade of yellow.

    20/12/1/ … bitches!

  23. CedarsDevil says:

    Giggs12

Loved the smile on Ryans face after the deflected goal. Just such a United player.

Now on 162 United goals, 8th all time. Tied with Wayne after his goal last night.
Scored in 22 consecutive seasons and every season of the the EPL.

He and Carrick ran the game yesterday and that’s a fact. Even had a mazy run down the left for good measure. What a player. What are the odds he get resigned next year?

Off topic: For those who follow the Reserves: United beat Blackburn reserves today to be in the semi finals of the Lancashire Senior Cup. Goals from Diouf (brace), Lingard, Will Keane. Well done young reds!

Giggs12 did us all proud, I herd you singing the songs, brilliant stuff.
I must read so much, first HELLO ALL OF RoM!!!!!!!!! 3 FUCKING POINTS AND LOOKING GOOD!!!!
1)Nani has been fantastic as of late!! Maturing before our eyes. Playing well with others. After his first great run an assist, he took a long shot around the 9 min mark form long distance with 3 options in front of him. Right away hand up to Rooney, Giggs and Evra like OK, I know it is what we talked about in meetings. Then wow what a game by him playing great with Rooney drifting into the left side of the hole. Tony V overlapping runs!!!!!!!!!
    2) Carrick
    3) Giggs has scored in every PL season!!!!
    4) Welbeck is awesome, and still growing. Has skills and smarts as well. In 3 years another 1/2 inch and 12 lbs of mussel!!!!!!! Could be a beast for years to come.
    5) Jones a beast, be well lad.
    6) Smalling wow what a replacement for Rio
    7) Linndy wow 2 top quality keepers. No Rio Linndy’s experience was nice.
    8) If Rooney and Nani keep progressing in playing better together look out world, throw young Tom in that mix!!!!!!!!!
    9) Rooney’s goal was something!!!!!!!!!!
    10) 5 points ahead of last year!!!!!!!!!!
    11) Berba’s touch of class, wow what skill. Incredible goal!!!!!!

John Barnes, speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside, said: “From a cultural point of view, [Suarez] has been backed by people from Uruguay saying the word he used is not deemed as a racist term. As much as we will say that ignorance is no excuse, ignorance is an excuse.”

“Twenty years ago in England, the same people in England now condemning him were ignorant as to what racism is. Why don’t they condemn themselves? When Manchester United play Liverpool and 10,000 United fans are saying “you Scouse thieves”, I’d like them all to be banned.”

“And Liverpool fans too, when they say “You Manc or whatever”. So where are we going to draw the line? Racism has to be zero tolerance but this is now a witch hunt. By admitting [what he said], he obviously didn’t feel that what he said was that significant.

“Because he could easily have gotten away with it by saying ‘I never said a word’.”

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will appeal against his Football Association punishment for racially abusing Patrice Evra, according to his lawyer. Alejandro Balbi, who is also Suarez’s agent, said his player was “convinced” the punishment would be reversed. Suarez was handed an eight-game ban and £40,000 fine after he used “insulting words in reference to Manchester United defender Evra’s colour”.”It seems to us absolutely out of proportion,” Balbi said.

Giggs12Gerrard0 @ 19:03: “Ronaldo is the best footballer I have ever seen by a country mile, even above Cantona”

If you were as old as I am – I’m 65 (and I don’t believe it !) – you’d have had the pleasure of watching Georgie Best. He was astounding. Maybe if I was as old as Sir Bobby then I might have a different opinion as to the finest footballer to pull on the red jersey but I’m just a kid in comparison to him.

Today, Lionel Messi is a far better “footballer” than Ronaldo. Although Ronaldo’s athleticism is astonishing, his football brain and close-control just don’t compare to Messi’s.

I completely agree – DannyTheLad seems to be the best complementary-player alongside TheWayneBoy and that’s why he’s being preferred to Chicharito.

DannyTheLad is growing-into-his-body; his skills are developing, his speed is deceptive; and his heart is huge – and, like you say, he has “smarts”.

Me neither. His team-mate Sandro looks like a better player – yet the announcers (I got the ESPN feed so I had to listen to Ian Darke and Steve McMannaman) just shoot-their-wad about the guy.

Even now – at 38 – SirRyanGiggs is a more accomplished midfielder. His performance last night was as good as his three games against the RentBoyz down the stretch last season- simply wonderful. However, time waits for no man and Giggs is just filling in for Mr.Jones – ‘cos something’s happening there and we all know what it is !

  119. JC says:

The thing I can’t understand about Chicarito and I love him don’t get me wrong but when he plays for Mexico he does show some of the passing and movement with the ball that I wish he’d show more of at United. I don’t know if with us he’s focusing to much on pushing the edge of the backline and getting onto the end of balls to one touch finish and that’s detracting from his ability to play with the ball or what but I’ve seen him play with a lot more ball control Internationally than I have for us and it’s baffling. Until he shows a bit more of that I think we’ll probably see more of Welbeck starting with Chicharito in the impact sub role.

    “only” a bruised cheek-bone. that’s good.

BUT a minor concussion – that’s bad. No concussion is “minor”.

Given that he’s been concussed, I’d play him in midfield – not central defence – so he doesn’t have to frequently head the ball. Besides, MrJones is the answer to UTD’s midfield issues !

No baby yet. Still having contractions but no joy yet. Gotta ring labour ward in morning at half seven to book inducement.

Denton. Alright mate. Have to disagree. Would take Ronnie all day long. Both footed. Pace. Power. Headers. Free kicks. Actually can score on english soil. Yes I know Messi scored in May. For me Ronnie is the complete footballer.

Manchuchu. Kyle walker ? Fuck knows mate. Pretty much like rest of Spurs side a la Bale, Modric, Parker etc. Fucking King who can’t even train. Pleased it was as a draw as I cant stick this Spurs lovefest. The amount of fucking times I have heard how they have the best squad behind city is frankly laughable. Same first eleven every game and they looked knackered tonight. That’s why Fergie is god as he knows how to get the best from a SQUAD in a llong hard season.

No adebayours wasn’t offside but he fucking handled it into the net. Hhmm. Sure I have seen him do that before!

  123. Costas says:

Waiting for Fergie’s confirmation, but this is great news about Jonesey.

  124. Paul Parker says:

Re: Modric – I’ve seen him have a few good games, nothing I was particularly excited about. Theres certainly a younger midfielder I could mention whose def produced more performances on bigger stages ;)

@Denton – Spot on. Giggs and Carrick we’re class for us when we needed them last season, and Ryans been back to class since he came back at QPR. When you think back how long he’s been doing this it boggles the mind. Agreed on Jones, I think we’ll soon be spoilt for choice in midfield. Carrick, Park will soon be our most senior options, Ando, “Tom, Jones” are ready to play, and Tunnicliffe, Morrison, Pogba are pushing for games. If we add just one top CM signing to the squad the combination of midfield pairings is endless, and the wings are already covered.

@King Eric – Agreed on Ronaldo over Messi mate. I don’t think Messi would be the same player in England, which isn’t a dumb thing to say considering this is RoM. Until he repeats Ronnie’s feat of scoring fuck loads of goals in the two top leagues in Europe for the last 10 years for me he’s the 2nd best player. What Barca win is irrelevant imo. Having said that, forgot who asked about Ronaldo v Giggs, but I’d hand on heart choose Giggs. He’s is a proto-type of what we now call the modern player, the man is in his own class. I do say Ronaldo is the most talented player I’ve seen, and he is, but Giggs is the best player I’ve seen, easily.

@Giles Oakley – I’ll have to re-read your article on George Best, just realised I’ve missed where you first mentioned his thoughts on Dalglish. We should all know he was a top lad by all accounts, but his comments about what he thought was unacceptable behaviour also reveal a lot about our Club too.

SAF already did that in the summer when he signed MrJones. The kid is so good he makes me stop dreaming about Daniele De Rossi in a red shirt.

  126. Zibbie says:

Fred great call, guys who twitter go to Labron James twitter account and ask him about his club with so few people of color and KKKD track record of no color in his transfers ever!!????? And his player racist attack.

    MG LOL!!

Jones man of steel. Fucking gets KOed plays on makes a great tackle then staggers off. He should wear a mask painted with flames like an NHL goalie. And the next guy to wear a helmet like Check should have a team colors on with club badges on the sides like a NFL helmet!

Beginning of the season I would have had MY prefered options for strikers in pecking order as Rooney, Berbatov, Chicarito, Wellbeck, Kiko, Owen. (I am a Berba fan).
Now, I would have Rooney, Wellback, Berbatov, Chicarito, Kiko. Owen.

Danny has done so well recently (pity he picked up those injuries early on) that as one poster on another thread likend him to Thiery Henry. Watching him lately I have to agree. Hope he stays injury free.

Off topic slightly but this Patrico Rodriguez kid looks the goods. Not sure if he is what we need to solve CMF issues but he reminds me of C. Ronaldo with a touch of Nani. How fucken skilful and quick is he?
I know it is utube only but …..wow

There used to be a YouTube video of me from 1965 – when I had the looks of Georgie Best and the moves of Pele. Unfortunately, when I sent the video to Sir Matt he was unable to open it. Life in a time-warp, eh ?

Almost any half-decent professional footie player can look like he has the skills of CR7 or Nani – it’s the genius of editing.

I don’t get the rumours connecting UTD to players like Eriksen, Rodriguez, and/or Gaitan.

UTD’s first team and reserves have loads of attacking players with outstanding skills and/or huge potential.

What’s needed is another left back and central defender so that the Da Silva twins can be freed to cover right back (assuming that they can put their injuries behind them), Chris Smalling can go back to growing into the a great central defender, and MrJones can become the best box-to-box midfielder in the world.

SAF has already assembled the core-talent for his next great team; we just need to be patient and let these kids evolve in ways that the OldFootieKnight has imagined.
