Giggs: I’m A United Fan and I Want To Beat Liverpool’s Record

Ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Ryan Giggs has confirmed that beating Liverpool’s title record, after equalling it last season, serves as motivation to win the league this year.

“We are trying to win the league this year and whatever records you break or whatever things you do in history comes after,” said Giggs. “But as a United fan, for me it (surpassing Liverpool) comes into it because I grew up seeing Liverpool win everything. At the moment, though, we want to win the game on Sunday to try and help us win the league. It’s a massive game, purely because it is Liverpool, and it is towards the end of the season so there is so much riding on it.”

  3. Red Typhoon says:

    GIGGSY…My Alltime Favourite..i saw him break into the united team at the age of 17 and until now have seen him and united win everything there is to win in football at club level…He is a LEGEND!!! SIR RYAN GIGGS…he deserves it..!!

  4. Sayyid says:

    Arise Sir Ryan!

    Rooney hasn’t scored against the scum for ages. It’s time he changes that record

    United 3-0

  5. CaerdyddCoch says:

    Bring on the statue and the knighthood. My old man tells me Giggs is better than Charlton and Best. But Giggs probably won’t get the status of Charlton because he didn’t do anything for you English bastards as well!

  6. Sayyid says:

    @CaerdyddCoch

    Giggs is the greatest ever player in English football

    He has performed week in week out for almost 20 years at MAN UTD and won every single trophy

    He will be a great manager. Contender along with Ole and Blanc to take over after SAF

    went to a st patricks day pre….. yesterday and while getting icecream for me and emily trigger and another one for me i came across this guy who gave out to me because id a child out of wedlock im going to hell bollocx bollox “have you heard the word of our lord” been in a public place with a lot of people staring i taught to my self be calm and just talk to this nutter whos trying to give me a fligher about god calmly but after he said a few more things i lost it and shouted this little man down (side note i dont believe in god but that doesnt mean im right i just dont need people telling me im wrong because of what i believe) after a good 2 minutes of shouting stuff about facts and science i some how ended up giving a mental rant about Ryan Giggs been the role model that people need to believe in that your kids could look up to that thats the type of person you should try to become, It turns out i seen Ryan Giggs in the same way that guy see’s “god” long story short an icecream man like what i said and gave me 4 free icecreams yesterday with green sprinkles
    happy paddys day everyone

  8. Xyth says:

    Lads owe us a great performance against dippers.
    We should be 100 times more motivated than them. Let’s thrash them in style.

  9. GTull says:

    As much as i’ve been dreaming of 4 – 0, 5 – 0 scorelines, I think it’ll be tight on sunday with us to nick it 1 – 0, 2 – 1, maybe 2 – 0…

    After their awful first half of season, Rafa has at least managed to make them hard to beat which is why they’re now dull as shit to watch. They offer very little going forward. I fully expect them to park the bus, cram the midfield and try to hit Torres long.

    Let’s just hope Vidic has his wits about him, surely he couldn’t get sent off 4 times in a row???

  10. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @CaerdyddCoch
    best law and charlton all played in the same team at the same time and all 3 were named european players of the year
    for what Charlton did alone for england is why he has those 3 special letters put before his name by the queen
    so theres no need to come on to a blog of a english football team and the champions of england and talk about your “english bastard” limp brain way of thinking

    I always remember a guy i went to school with when i was a kid who’d a manchester united bag with brits out and i.r.a. all over it

    i taught he was a thick fucker and no i can add you to that list

  11. ZD Red says:

    I’m sure Vidic has been reminded of his sending offs by Sir Alex numerous times by now. United will definitely be more motivated to right the three past defeats, especially the 4-1 loss, which still hurts to this day.

    Things that play to our advantage are that they have a game on Thursday night, the dressing room morale appears to be going down and that our players should really want revenge for last year, as well as beating them on the way to win number 19… I see a tight game, but United coming out on top.

  12. Park's Dog's Dinner says:

    If Vida is gonna get a red he HAS to, at least, snap that nancy boy’s leg or neck!! Then we’ll surely win!

    I expect them to try & pack the mid and force our 4-5-1 hand. Then, long balls to Torres or try catch us on the break..

    We need to start fast & sharp! Being 1 or 2 goals up at half time is the only way we can crack their crappy defensive style..

    oh, and ” It turns out i seen Ryan Giggs in the same way that guy see’s “god” long story short an icecream man like what i said and gave me 4 free icecreams yesterday with green sprinkles” – LMAO!

    Classic!

  13. willierednut says:

    Giggs, Giggs will tear em apart again.

  14. Ashish says:

    Jealousy has been such a big motivating factor for everyone connected to United.The players,fans,manager.

    Although I’ll never find a United fan ever admitting to the media or to anyone for that matter that they are well and truly jealous and resentful of Liverpool’s past success.

  15. EastStandManc says:

    I see what you did there, Ashish.

    http://www.dahmus.org/blogimg/fry-see-what-you-did-there.jpg

  16. Lukenestler says:

    Ashish: Yeah, we’re well gutted about the 70s/80s, but how do you bin-dipping halfwits feel about our recent success then, dickhead?

  17. thesavage says:

    Ashish; is it possible for you to talk anything other than complete and utter bollocks?

    No, please don’t answer, save us form your wittering.

    I think it will be tight, Bin Dippers will sit deep and hope Torres can create an opportunity out of nothing, the pressure and onus is on United to do all the running.

    Not going to predict a score, but come on lads, please let’s have a big performance.

    I’d settle for Vidic to be sent off again, if only we are 3 up and he break Gerrards fucking neck.

  18. Welbz19 says:

    Giggs is an absolute legend and the perfect role model for everyone!! Great Man even Greater player!!!

  22. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

    @ Ashish: Mate you are fucking thick. Jesus Christ your glory days are long gone. you lot cant even fucking finish 4th. hahah. And seriously spare us the horror and pls dont comment here cos ur 2 bit means shit to us just as your fucking titles and whatever you lot feel proud. Honestly there cant be much coz YOU ARE FUCKING SCOUSE. haha.

    PS: Ryan Giggs 11 Stevie Fucking Me 0. :)

  23. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    costa it starts at half 6 on mutv so the match will kick off at 7 maybe

  24. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    @ Ashish – Look up the word moron and you’re picture is right next to it! It’s a United vs dippers game of course stories like this are going to come out. Its not about obsession its about being the best which we clearly are. Having to hear these cunts much like yourself say you’ll never win 18 I know understand how right they were. We’ll win 19 and add another European Cup in there for good measure. Do us all a favour and fuck off from this site.

  25. willierednut says:

    I thought Ashish was a United fan, but it seems he’s a tool.

  26. King Eric says:

    Who the fuck is this Ashish? We thought he was a United fan who was just argumentative. Seems he is a dipper obsessed with a United blog. Sad cunt.

  27. Always Be Closing says:

    NotoriousRedDevil – would help if you’d correctly spell ‘you’re’ in the same sentence that you call someone a moron. Or cunts. Or tell them to fuck off.

    willierednut – sounded like he was being sarcastic to me.

  28. King Eric says:

    Got to get a banner if we win 19.I saw one last night on the kop from years ago and it had a Liverpool flag and all their trophies with the words “you will never beat this”. Are you sure?

  29. King Eric says:

    If indeed he is a United fan why the fuck does he after argue with EVERY SINGLE POINT? Attention seeking perhaps?

    Abc – Its a football blog pal not a english language and lit blog.

  30. King Eric says:

    “have to”

  31. RedDeviled Egg says:

    If the Glazers are such terrible owners and business men then why the hell do they keep raking in sponsorships and broadening Uniteds reach around the world?

  32. CaerdyddCoch says:

    @Gotta hate tiny tears.

    Sense the sarcasm mate. Do you actually think I was intending to call every English person an “English bastard”. It’s called nationalist banter from a nation that is sportingly inferior to England. I back England at every major tournament. I only care about Giggs as a United legend.

    @Sayyid

    Fully agree.

  33. Costas says:

    @GHTT

    THanks mate. That’s in 2 hours approximately. I hope I can find a stream.

  34. willierednut says:

    @Always Be Closing

    Thanks for clearing that up, it sort of passed me by. On Hargo, if he comes through this game tonight then he could be in contention for the Bolton game, fingers crossed.

  35. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    @ Always Be Closing – Sorry Miss. Don’t fail me on my grammar!

  36. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    @RedDeviled – I have kind of lost faith with the Green and Gold scarves campaign. After the Fulham game I saw hundreds of people waiting outside the Megastore wearing them. It kind of defeats the object. I bought one before the game but haven’t decided if I’ll be wearing it to the dippers game on Sunday. Also I’m bloody glad glazers have got new sponsors still doesn’t eliminate the debt though? They could have 200 sponsors paying £50 million each and the debt would still be there.

  41. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    I wonder what Gerrard is going to do next to get out of playing against us. He stuck his fingers up at the ref expecting a ban, charged Browns head expecting a ban but the FA wont. We all know that Gerrard has lost his bottle and he can’t stand being the prospect of being captain of Liverpool who loose the league wins record to United. I fucking hope he tops himself the snidy mouthy cunt.

  47. TinManUnited says:

    We haven’t seen or heard from Hargreaves in ages, and he comes out with talk of making to the World Cup. Not sure if I am too happy about this.

  48. sprite says:

  57. xol says:

    can’t believe i’m watching Hargreaves. On tenterhooks here for him. Seems like he can still kick a ball though.

  58. King Eric says:

    GOTTA HATE – Is Hargreaves starting mate? Excellent I am still at work so don’t know.

    Red Deviled Egg – Yeah I saw those three new lucrative deals. Great news. By the way there were a number of people in green and gold on Red Cafe last night for its entirety, so again just the media making up lies.

  59. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @king Eric
    he’s playing in front of my eyes right now
    number 11 playing deep passing the ball well and making runs
    excellent watching the box to box work

  60. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @king eric
    about the media over doing things i ,as you know, love the reserves and i see this oliver gill chap and i have to say he’s solid he’s one for the future and i dont want backword mindedness of some fans either ruining this guys confidence or just packing up and leaving for a club who want him. i want him ,

  61. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

  65. LunG420 says:

    is Hargo in the reserve match tonight?

  66. tobbe says:

    any links for the game??!!!

  67. Sanj says:

    @LunG420

    He sure is, mate!

  68. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    wow anyone see hargo there
    brandy wasnt offside but what control vision skill and pass from owen
    start him sunday with fletch
    only joking but bolton could be calling

  69. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    Fantastic news! Hargreaves plays, hopefully he comes through unscathed.

  70. Sanj says:

    @GHTT

    I had a discussion with Costas about that, I had actually mentioned the Bolton match as a potential target for his return…

  71. Welbz19 says:

    Have to say I’m really suprised just how involved hargreaves has been!! His passing has been excellent, starting to believe he will have an impact on the run-in!! Welcome back Owen!!

  72. LunG420 says:

    YAAAYYY!!!! nice to know he is back in action. How is he playing anyone got any live feeds?

    GIMMEEEE CURLY HAIR LIKE HARGREAVES!!

  73. Costas says:

    Man I can’t believe I am seeing Hargo playing again!

    It’s the first time our umber 11 has had curly hair since the treble season. :P

    Off topic. Hope Fulham go through.

  74. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    hargreaves hasnt missed a beat norwood is having a stormer
    it sounds like owen will just play the first half but if you want a report on his first 35 minutes back
    Flawless
    and burnleys midfield is highly physical gudjohnsen is one strong fecker
    Hargo is having a ball out there

  75. Sanj says:

    @Costas

    I too hope Fulham go through. I like what Hodgson has done with them (except for beating us twice in a row). As an American, good to see Dempsey playing at such a high level. I cannot stand Donovan.

  76. willierednut says:

    Hargo’s looked good, very encouraging. Fulham 4 1 up.

  77. Costas says:

    @Sanj

    Looks like our wishes are coming true. I used to sympathise with Juventus in the past, but they are pretty pathetic this year. Fulham are more deserving to continue in this competition. I like Dempsey too.

    Hargo’s return exceeded my modest expectations. I would give him 2-3 more games in the Reserves before he returns. But he could be in contention in early April.

  78. LunG420 says:

    Who is number 7 in the reserves he as a fast lil fucker.

  79. sprite says:

    LunG420
    that would be Cameron Stewart

  80. Sanj says:

    @Costas
    For the biggest league match of the season? Works for me…. Rooney, Valencia, Park, Hargreaves, Scholes, Fletcher, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rafael/Gaz, VDS…. I like the sound of that.

  81. willierednut says:

    Well done Fulham, apart from Inter, italian football is rank.

  82. Sanj says:

    @willierednut

    Don’t forget that we easily brushed aside Inter last year at the same stage. Just because Mourinho beat an old Chelsea side, everyone is suddenly having a w*nkfest over Inter. I think we could handle them.

  83. Fze123 says:

    Wow. I can’t believe I witnessed Hargo playing 45 minutes of football. Some very nice touches and passes, and he got involved more later in the second half. We are starting to see glimpses of his old self. It’s exciting to think about his possible contribution this season. Also I rate Brandy. A very talented young lad. Second half starting now

  84. willierednut says:

    @Sanj

    Inter were written off for the second leg thats why some people went ott and of course we can beat Inter, i dont care who we get tomorrow.

  85. sprite says:

    does anyone remember which reserve/u18 player the dippers wanted to snap up?? was in the papers some days/weeks ago

  86. King Eric says:

    gotta hate – Just seen the first half . Good to see him come through it and play well. Great player. Agreed pal about Gill, he is turning into quite a centre half.

  87. Sanj says:

    @ willierednut

    Who do you think we’ll get? I feel like we’ll get CSKA.

  88. King Eric says:

    sanj – Yeah that line up looks pretty impressive mate. Just shows how good United are when everyone available. Made my day seeing Owen play tonight. I really wish the other Owen was fit for Sunday as we just know he would net.

  89. Costas says:

    Was Hargo subbed off?

    Indeed well done to Fulham. Who would have imagibed it 5-10 years ago? Fulham knocking out Juve! English sides are superior to the Italian ones in power and tempo.

    @Sanj

    Ha, well I wouldn’t pencil him down for that game just yet. A great scenariuo would be if we got a great scoreline in the first leg of the quarter finals. Then we will have a chance to use him in the second leg.

  90. willierednut says:

    @Sanj

    Ive a feeling we’re gonna get Bayern or Lyon, think we’ll beat either. Dippers 1 up, the thug scored.

  91. Sanj says:

    @Costas
    Isn’t he out of the CL roster?

  92. Costas says:

    Sounds like the dippers are fired up for Sunday. As usual, they pick up their game just before they meet us.

    @Sanj

    You are correct. I am starting to lose my touch. :D

    I was actually in favor of putting Ritchie De Laet in the C.L. squad because he had a clean bill of health at the time. Poor Ritchie…

    My prediction for tomorrow is Bayern Munich.

  93. arijc says:

    @ sprite
    it was John Cofie

  94. willierednut says:

    The boy Hazard’s quick.

  95. Costas says:

  97. Berbatov is a rolls royce says:

    thats supposed to be the link to a report on Hargos return, which as i stated earlier, is fucking sweeeeeeet!

  98. Costas says:

    It is sweet. Today is one of the best days of the season!

  99. willierednut says:

    @Costas
    There’s a goal there for Lille if they take the game to Liverpoo.

  100. Costas says:

    @willierednut

    A friend who is a Liverpool fan told me the same. As long as it’s 2-0, Lille still have a chance. They could be in for a nervous final 15 minutes.

    Some cracking games in the Europa League tonight.

  101. Mahesh says:

    Yes! Hargo’s back – fingers cross there are no after effects and he’s ready to play for us in the run up! I think I’ll be emotional the next time I see him in a united shirt. Also, that is one guy who I hope makes its to the England team – I would love to see him at the World Cup!

  102. grein says:

    King Giggs, my hero.

  103. LunG420 says:

    Came across this article http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/126697/Steven-Gerrard-great-escape/

  104. eleventh heaven says:

    can he play in the coming champions league fixtures ?
