darrem bent for the balloon d’or
Ryan Giggs is the best player in the premiership history and the best player in the premiership this season
    Knight him up lizzy

  2. King Eric says:

Benzema? What the fuck has that cunt done?

  3. Fze123 says:

Ryan giggs deserves such an allocade for everything he has done for manchester utd. Best player of all time in the premiership. Sadly we all know it’s going to Messi. Rooney to win it next year.

btw why is the might Balloon not shortlisted???!

  4. Fze123 says:

    *mighty

  5. Fze123 says:

King Eric, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe because he joined real madrid?!

  6. Fze123 says:

Or maybe because he has refused to move to manchester utd.

  7. stretford972 says:

maicon, dzeko and gourcuff are interestin ones. All attainable and we could do with a right back, centre forward and creative midfielder. Just a thought

  8. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

Ryan Giggs should be KNIGHTED for his contributions to united and football in general. Absolute LEGEND. Would love to see him wim the ballon d’Or ahead of that wank ronaldo. :)

  9. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

Didier Drogba…Give it a rest UEFA

  10. andsolskjærhaswonit... says:

and Sir John of Terry to add to that, what actually have these two knobheads done…

  11. Gee says:

It would be nice if Giggsy did win it coz he deserves something for the fact he is a consistent superstar!! but it will go to Messi I reckon, but with the way Ronaldo has started at Real he might nick it. Some of the names on there are a joke tho, Benzema, Ibrahimovic….are you having a laugh just coz they made big money moves to spain and play in teams I could score goals for fun in!! Benzema is one for the future but not yet!!

  12. RedMist says:

Ronaldo deserves to be in there, he has made the transition to La Liga brilliantly.

Personally, Evra should be in there too, better full back than Maicon.
No VDS? European goalkeeper of the year last season.

Messi will win it. But i think Rooney will be well in next year if he keeps up his current run of brilliance.

  13. ash says:

wheres vds and evra? rooney should be in the top 5.

  14. mikekelly12 says:

Agree…..Evra is the best full back in world football!!!!

  15. SULLY says:

What the fuck? No Paul Scholes? It pains me on my left ball to see Scholesy not being recognised in world football. Paul Scholes is the most under-rated player to play the game, and I dont think he minds that.

  16. North Stand Tier 2 says:

Gee, Ibra scored over 30 goals last season. He may go missing at times but the guy is shit hot.

You run out of superlatives for Giggs – living legend. He wont win this though, and rightly so. Messi was the best player last year.

  17. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

John Terry will win it if they put carvalho standing beside him
unless carvalho doesnt play well then he wont win it
same as stevie me he’s fucked at a chance to win it because Alonso isnt beside him on the list
What in the fuck has Karim Benzema done, he’s a very good footballer I believe from the games ive seen him in but he’s kinda found out in the big leagues as ive said about Carvalho and Alonso can kinda carry a player to make him look better but Ronaldo doesnt make Benzema look world class Ronaldo looks world class with a guy who can score in the 6 yar box beside him
if Karim Benzema is on the list for a football award
then Micheal Owen should be there aswell
football wise they are the same
the only difference is Owen scores last minute winners against City
Benzema scores last minute winners agaist shamrock rovers

  18. Corea says:

    @ RedMist

yes, Cristiano is brilliant at Real. and he helped us win the Ballon D’or before joining Madrid.
Messi will win it so i don’t care.

  19. jaxorz90 says:

as much as it an honour even to be nominated we all know that if it doesnt go to messi then its a shock result

  20. Sam the kenyan red says:

The major abcentees are ben foster and abou diaby !!

  21. redevil1878 says:

no shitteh players, with all that cash. leppars.

  22. nagdaddy says:

what does paddy have to do to get recognized? He even got us a point by hitting the ball at that git anton ferdinand last week

  23. Suprah says:

I think either Xavi or Iniesta will bag this one.

Messi may be hot favourite, but frankly Barcelona is run by Xavi and Iniesta working in tandem to control the midfield and tempo. Look at Messi in Argentina, he appears lost at times because he doesnt have a midfield like Barcelona’s.

  24. Wazza says:

    andsolskjærhaswonit
spot on mate. Sir didier drogba to win it? ROFL…

  25. HARGREAVES' CURLY HAIR says:

No rio i can’t fucking believe it. tiny tears is’nt fit enough to lick his boots. drogba did shit last season. pretty obvious that messi will win.

  26. nate says:

i like it suprah in there internationals xavi an iniesta dominate just like at barca messi doesnt really do much from what ive seen

  27. cantona7 says:

Needless to say, Messi will win this.

Sir Ryan will at best get no5. Although i would want him to win it more than anybody else. But if United do ANOTHER treble this year, maybe Sir Ryan will have a better chance.

I think it will come out like this:
    Messi
    Ronaldo
    Eto’o
    Henry
    Giggs

3 Barca strikers because they scored a hell lot of goals last season, more than 100 in the league alone.

  28. ashhotjet90 says:

Why the hell are Benzema and Kaka on the list , because they play for Madrid now???

  29. Fze123 says:

Darren Fletcher should’ve been in that list too. How can a football genius not be shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or. Baffling.

  30. cav says:

I’d be more annoyed at this list for some exclusions (no david silva?) and a few players that did make the list (benzema?) if it weren’t for the fact that it’s a formality, since of course it’ll go to Messi. Though, imo, Ronaldo deserves to win it again.

  31. Ballin... says:

VDS should be on the list. And I dont think Fabregas did shit last season, it was all arshavin.

  32. Ballin... says:

honestly i think Vidic deserves it, even though he had a couple of poor games and none of the barca players deserve it, lol.

  33. Jandsdad says:

Personally i have never liked the idea of best footballer prizes, especially in the last 10 years or so.
Is it actually judged on a players performances in the previous season or on his popularity and how big his profile in football is? Case in point would be Beckham placing higher than Keane and Scholes after the teams treble winning year.
It just seems that its just another jolly boys trip for the UEFA/FIFA creeps to pat themselves on the back.

  34. GreenRed says:

    What no O’Shea?

  35. Hurdy Gurdy Man says:

Why is casillas shortlisted and not van der sar? surely van der sar should have a nomination with all his clean sheets in a row last year. yet more prejudice against united by the governing bodies

  36. Mic says:

    Balloon for Ballon d’Or?

  37. STOP...... Fergietime says:

Darren Bent to win the ballon rouge

  38. Ballin... says:

    @Hurdy
I would think it is the same reason that benzema didnt join united but left for madrid. It seems like everyone across europe rates barca and madrid better than anyother team when the premier league is obviously the best league in the world and we’ve been the champions for the past 3 years. Its just fuckin stupid and really annoying when people turn us down.

  39. rooninho says:

how are 30 players, over half of whom are unworthy to be called the european player of the year, considered a “shortlist” of players? they should just start out with a list of 11 legit contenders, and not waste time pulling names out of a hat to come up with the rest. there are so many names on this “shortlist” that truly do not deserve this honor and have no chance of winning it, why should anyone waste any time thinking about them?

how is stevie sucker punch on the list? did i miss something or did
he win any type of silverware in the last few years? if he wins the award will they play a highlight of his cctv assault video before his acceptance speech? what a worthy nominee!

lastly, is there a better left back in europe than patrice evra? i can’t think of anyone who comes even close. how can evra be the best player at his position in all of europe, and not even make such a long and questionable “shortlist?” is sepp “i openly hate england” blathering idiot behind all this? or is it his errand boy, michel “i want to be sepp someday” platini?

  40. evraroony@gmail says:

personally think evra should be there +giggs finishing top five.

  41. Ajo Paul says:

Wow!! Not a single italian player !!!!

  42. SteniS says:

Lol Fze123, Balloon for the Ballon! ;D

  43. Macheda is GOD says:

augh we all know messi won it

  44. LET ME FEEL THE LOVE AGAIN says:

GIGGS IN THE FORM OF HIS CAREER LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER VIEWS CANT UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY GET THE NAMES FROM …………..JUST LOVED THE CAMEO APPERANCE BY THE BEACH BALL SILY DIPPERS

  45. shakshamboo says:

    Benitez for Baloon DidIt ‘Or

  46. Datnana says:

Totally shocked at vds and evra’s non-inclusion. No essien? Apart from a few, just a bogus list.

  47. Gee says:

North stand tier 2 – I just can’t agree mate Ibra is far to overated, dont get me wrong tho I dont think he is shit by any means, I just dont think he is as world class as people think.

Fully agree with the Evra shout best left back in the world by far!!
