Giggs: We Didn’t Perform

After a disappointing performance and result against Wigan last night, Ryan Giggs has admitted that we didn’t perform and have to get things right ahead of our game against Aston Villa on Sunday.

“We didn’t perform,” said Giggs. “For a start, our normal passing game wasn’t as fluent and we kept giving the ball away. Obviously, you’ve got to give credit to Wigan. They put us under a lot of pressure, especially early on and credit to them as well. They worked hard, but that [being closed down] is something we come up against quite a bit, so it’s not an excuse not to be able to handle that. We just didn’t keep the ball like Manchester United usually do. I think we only had one or two shots on goal and that’s also disappointing, so we have to look at the game and work on it and get ready for Sunday.”

No shit Sherlock! Wasn’t it Giggs saying before the match that Utd won’t ease of until the title is won? I wish they’d just keep Schtum, do the talking on the pitch as they say?
Anyway, that game’s gone now, all we can do is make sure we perform on Sunday, which can’t come quick enough for me now.

Ok I have to take something out of my chest. Yeah last night we were awful. I was very much frustrated by the way we played. It was shit. But you know what was more alarming when I checked the comments, It said we missed scholes. Really? Now we have to depend on a 38 year old legend.
Scholes is still the best Midfielder we have but It is a dangerous sign that we are still depending on him.

I am still confident we will win the tittle but no one can deny that we have failed in our squad building objective this season. I heard Last season after Barca Game Many including Sir Alex saying we will develope new stars, But you know what guys we have badly failed in that department. Playing Giggs in the MF when Cleverley (Remember him he was supposed to be our saviour) is available let alone Pogba.

I fucking love Giggs but he cannot play in Midfield. I thought We would see the last of giggs in midfield after his Poor display against Barca but no even now He is playing Midfield. We have to think about our future now. Sir alex has to build a golden squad again maybe for the last time before he leaves. Its because of The genius of sir alex we are winning trophies, I can bet even Jose cannot win with this team.

Build for future should be the motto now.

poor movement without the ball…. but keep goin lads n make us proud!

  5. Ron07 says:

@Ash totally agree with you mate! How bad has giggs been in midfield this season!!! He is a legend but seriously another season of that ?!? AND we are supposed to be in champions league finals ?! Hah what a joke. Giggs is no longer good enough. Just because he is FIT does not mean he can PLAY. He has a moment of brilliance which may or may not end up in a goal , I’ll grant him that BUT apart from that he is poor the rest of the game and just because he can once in a while create/score a goal does not mean he is evergreen! I’m sure Zidane would have been able to do the same at 38 , once in a while create something. But you have to be consistent with it and that’s why you retire at some point . I’m not ranting because of the last game, he has without a doubt been poor for months . defensively he does NOTHING. Just walks around …. And walks a bit more .

Yesterday was a bad day at the office. And Giggs wasn’t at all impressive. Had a shit game again in midfield. Signing a central midfielder should be our top priority at the end of the season. He should play alongside Carrick. I don’t get why we are being linked to so many wingers ala Gaitan, and even Hazard. What we need is a central mid like Modric or some guy we don’t know about. Doesn’t have to be a big name, just has to be class.

  7. Unitedfanatic says:

We played piss poor yesterday. Chico is off form, and our midfield wasn’t good enough to keep the ball and push forward. Wazza had to drop deep too often and for too long, which I don’t like because then there is no real spark up front and he is limited to taking shots from long distances. Young was anonymous too, but others had a decent, if not bad, game. Berba, how we miss you!! Though the refs robbed us, we didn’t deserve to win anyway. But considering the stonewall penalty we got denied, a draw would have been fair IMHO.

  8. Unitedfanatic says:

    @Ash:

That’s a bit harsh mate. We are where we are this season due to the lads. It’s not like we can’t play when Scholes is not around. Yes, we are, maybe, missing a central midfielder this season but it’s fair to say that we all believed Tom Clev looked like a very good answer to that puzzle in the first half of the season, if not for his misfortune at injuries. We had Anderson, Cleverley, Carrick, Fletcher, Park, Pogba and Giggs at the beginning of the season and that’s hardly poor quality.

Like I already said, don’t forget that we have been unfortunate with the availability of Fletcher, Ando and Cleverley this season.

  9. ivan says:

Absolutely shocking display. This is very wierd season, I say.I cant remember when was the last time we had so many rubish performances in a season- City OT,every game in CL,Ajax OT,both games against Bilbao,Blackburn,Newcastle…The recepie was the same- hard pressing against .So is it tactical inadequacy or what I don’t know. And the weird thing is that despite all those shocking performances we’ll ,I hope, win the title. But I realy think we need some reconstruction in the summer.

  10. #07 says:

    @UnitedFanatic

And actually last night Cleverley looked good. We actually started playing in the Wigan half as he took control of the game and he arguably should’ve had an assist from playing that defence splitter to Welbeck that Welbs drilled at the keeper instead of beyond him (as has become customary lately…)

That makes it even more galling that we didn’t start him but actually even more galling than that, especially in light of Giggsy’s words, is that we dont seem to have anyone besides him and Scholes who are natural two touch players with good close control. Giggsy’s lying we dont face closing down every week. Most sides do what QPR did last Sunday and sit back and give us loads of space. When the likes of Bilbao or Barca rush us we panic and play rubbish.

    Must.Be.Addressed.

We cannot go on with just 2 players who can play 2 touch.

  11. Marq says:

Giggs was the worst of the lot yesterday… Hope he doesn’t start in central midfield again, we could do with less heart attacks, as well as heart aches

Time to move on. Villa are fighting against relegation too, so it won’t be easy.

  12. Costas says:

All things considered, it was our worst game of the season. Can’t remember another United team in recent memory being outplayed by a team of Wigan’s calibre like this.

  13. wayne says:

Don’t need to be told the obvious didn’t expect Utd to run the table and the team was due a bad game.Last night’s result means fuck all
The overreaction and the amount of shit written after one bad result just does my head in,makes me sick to be honest and if I stood next to one of these Utd ‘fans’ at a game it’d kick off.
Just a bunch of fucking retards who have played to much Fifa12 and think players are robots,it really is fucking ridiculous fucking clueless fuckwits should stop calling themsevles Utd fans

  14. Xyth says:

I would not have been worried if we played well but still lost. I could not believe the lack of desire and bad attitude displayed by our team last night. You cannot find a single player, apart from DeGea that can be proud of their performance.

I can only hope that this will be a wake up call and we will go on to win at least 4 out of the 5 remainingmatches!

  15. manutdthebest says:

if there were a choice for being leader of the table and 5 games to go, we all would take it ! But one thing to remember we are not champions yet – this is where Mancini’s mind game trying to sneak in.. and no need to panic either.. this is where Media banging on great season ending drama.

Just make sure and win the coming 2 home games..

  16. Unitedfanatic says:

    #07:

You’re right, we panic and lose the ball most times when the opposition close us down. That definitely needs to be addressed.

But we’re not SO bad in the centre midfield department. Yes, we may be short of one good talented player there, but that’s it. The tactics we generally deploy in big games with three central midfield players can still be effective and with that added talent, will definitely help a lot.

  17. Vilhelm28 says:

Bad days will occur – thats how it is.

United will most likely never fork out the cash the way Shitty and Rentboys do and will continue to do, meaning we will pay less, buy fewer and younger and bring up more via own youth system. In spite of this we still are spending money, quite a bit. The only way these talents we are buying and bringing up via youth, will turn into world beaters and bring us future glory and silverware, is by playing and unfortunately making mistakes.

Giving Smalling, Jones and Clevs games now (yesterday)- will result in wins the next 10-15 years. So, we might lose the title in the end or might win it by fewer than 8 points – but surely people on this board don’t want United to end up like money grabbing Shitty or the Rent boys and just buy 10-15 players every year?

  18. zelh says:

dunno how Giggs finished 90 minutes yesterday.
should have gone off after 45. Has been absolute horrible all season long when played in the centre. Dunno how many shite performances more we have to see from him till Fergie realises that Giggsy is fucking shite in the centre.

  19. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

Giggs is a traditional winger. He should be played there at ALL TIMES. He did not perform in the midfield yesterday because this was the culmination of being played out of position so many times. When he moved out wide yesterday he delivered some good balls like the normal Giggs does. Hopefully fergie does not make this mistake again.

But it was not all giggsy’s fault in the middle. Carrick did not exactly cover himself in glory either. Did not play well AT ALL. he was very slow and lethargic as well and it came back to bite us in the ass.

  20. Sara Malaysia says:

the lads has been playing well prior to this game…there has to be a small blip…… we will bounce back…

  21. knoe0027 says:

We didn’t deserve the win yesterday. Giggs is a legend and we will forever be indebted to him for his services to the club. However, to be honest I get nervous every time he starts in the middle of a 4-4-2. He isn’t consistent enough with his passing, gives the ball away to much and doesn’t offer enough in defense anymore (this has been a trend all season long). He still has plenty to offer us if used correctly. I think he is best either from the bench to provide a creative spark or supporting a lone striker with 3 in the center of midfield.

  22. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Saying Giggs can’t play in yhe centre is fucking ridiculous. He has played brilliantly there for getting on five years now. Yes he had a shit night buy fuck me as Wayne said they are not robots.

Give the lads a break 5 clear five games left. City have to play Norwich and Newcastle away plus us.

  23. NigerianRED DEVIL says:

Poor,Poor game. Giggs & Carrick wif a really bad day at the office.
Sadly, we have come to expect this from Giggs wen he plays centrally, Carrick, not so much based on his recent performances (mainly alongside Scholes). Cleverly worries me. Hasn’t come outta his injury looking sharp,I know everybody can’t be Valencia but let’s just hope he doesn’t pull another Anderson on us…..
We need to buy a Box to Box midfielder come summer, that much is obvious. Need it like yesterday. Wigan was a bad game, Very bad, but we’d bounce back on Sunday. Think pple got carried away with all the media talk of Title #20 being in the bag. Can’t let that happen.

Its hard to admit but I agree with you. I had headache after the game because of him. He’s our legend but I’d rather have him as an impact player rather that a CM. When I saw the line up I knew we would struggle..

Let’s focus on the next games and hope we play well.

As for decisions..wigan have also had the “rawest” deals over some couples of weeks.

  25. Gee says:

We didnt perform coz you were in the centre of midfield!! Ryan you are a fucking LEGEND but you CAN NOT start in the centre of midfield, impact sub yes but that I’m affraid that is all you should be used for now!! BUT that isn’t to say the whole team were shite coz they were!! Time to win it at the council house!! DONT fuck it up!!

Lack of class…… unparalleled pathetic stupidity…….

at least I support Utd unlike you with your negative ramblings……. and I feel you are worth cussing….

Kindly go fuck yourself and take your stupid alter egos with you….cunts like you make me sick.

  27. Marq says:

    @Giggs12Gerrard0

Our point about Giggs not playing in the middle is when we are looking at it now. It doesn’t matter if he did well 3 years ago. It was the case with Keane, we kept him too long and it held back the team. This year Giggs has not been the same playing in the middle as it was 3 years ago. We have to move on.

  28. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

You certainly didn’t perform, that’s for sure Ryan. However, what Fergie was doing resting Scholes is anyone’s guess
