Giggs: We Probably Frustrated Our Fans Today

After Norwich equalised against Manchester United late on this afternoon it looked as though we would have to settle for just one point.

However, Ryan Giggs, making his 900th appearance for the club, ensured we left with all three after scoring an injury time winner.

“I think it’s team spirit,” Giggs told MUTV. “Knowing we are going to create chances late on. Probably today was frustrating as we created more chances in the last eight minutes or so than we did in the whole game. That’s probably frustrating for the fans and the manager but credit to the lads as well. We kept going when our heads could have quite easily gone down. Norwich put us under a lot of pressure but we kept going and got the goal. It was a mixture of things really. Do Norwich stick or twist? Do they try and defend the draw or go for it? Obviously, we always go for the win and we’ve got players on the park who can score and create goals. Ashley came onto the pitch and put in some great crosses, obviously like the one for my goal, so we’ve got goals from all areas.”

Don’t worry Giggs lad its just the way we like it :-D Get paid. Do we play again tomorrow guys. Oh shit looks like the ticker will just have to deal with the normal stuff in life.

  12. iDon says:

Yes you did :S a lot … we had the power to control the game from the beginning … What happened?

  13. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

It’s ok. The celebration were worth it :D haha Gigss went crazy! Poor Jones smashed in the back.

  14. Utdfan says:

You’re right, Welbeck especially can’t score even the ball hits him right in the face, the kid is just clumsy in front of goal…….don’t have composure of a natural striker.

  15. Doghouse says:

To be honest I never thought for a second that we weren’t going to win. Once they scored we just looked like it was a matter of time. Indeed we looked that way the whole game.

Reminds me of the West Ham and Blackpool games in recent seasons, looked lethal, gone behind, got the win. If a team looks like shutting us out then we can lose, and that’s happened before, but if United look likely then they will always score. We didn’t go behind today but at no point did we stop carrying a threat.

De Gea was our man of the match though, if not man of the hour, because he was superb today for us.

  16. Manutdheartattack says:

Can we have some variety and win decisively? I do not think my heart is going to last the season. To giggsy hats off..you are the best!!

  17. Tonka Norris says:

Frustrated? Yeah, a bit. Seeing them up the tempo of the game at the end just showed how much they were holding back. There was a time we played all the game at that kind of intensity; it was the reason why teams were frightened of us. We’re it not for the Giggs/Scholes ‘old fashioned values” we’d be coming home with not much more than a pound of carrots.

De Gea saved our arses for the 2nd time this week.
Without Rooney we’re the ghost of a team.

Great win, typical Unted performance. You can never write us off. Everyone played well, espec De Gea, Jones, Evans. Wellbeck superb up front, hopefully will get sharper with the chances he gets.

Spurs on Sunday, one of the greatest games of the season. Spurs going off the ball at just the right time. When we win there the bitters will know its not their year -again.

  20. lordrt says:

That was really frustrating indeed, why do Utd always have to wait for the opponents to score to come to life afterwards??? Fortunately yet again DDG made some crucial saves and Sir Ryan was on hand to tap in the winner

  21. Saad says:

    Story of my life.

All of the sports teams that I love do a real number on my cardiac health. This season I’ve had to endure six months of the Giants and now Ive got to live with United until May. At this rate, I’ll be dead by 40!

Still, the heart wants what the heart wants…United forever!

  22. parthi says:

Certainly, manutd games are not for the weak-hearted.

  23. chica chica says:

Supporting United is not for the faint-hearted.
All those last minutes goals are so orgasmic.
    WOW !!! More Please !!!

  24. Gorse Hill Red says:

I honestly thought the title was well and truly lost yesterday then as per usual the lads in Red proof me wrong! Getting too old for this now I just the know the old ticker will eventually explode!

Spurs away is the big test, win that and the Bitters will start panicking.

  25. Ambrose christian says:

Sir SAF has really got to tell those boy to stop causing us pain by beleiving a single goal can win us games.Just imagine after scoring an early goal ,you take your foot off the gas, only for your opponent to mount pressure for 70min ,it’s really insult to a club like ours

  26. Sparkz says:

Sometimes its like we need to concede in order to up our game. First 20 minutes we were great, then let our standards slip.

I’d give Norwich credit for that though. They played direct, knocking it forward and skipping the midfield. When we had the ball at the back, they pressed us and stopped us from getting the ball to our main threats i.e Scholes, Giggs and Nani. We did lack energy in there IMO, a Jones/Cleverley/Anderson type player, and obviously we missed Rooney’s ability to link midfield and attack.

Fergie was right – top marks to our centre backs + De Gea. Thought Jones had a good game as well.

  27. LoneStarRed says:

Valencia’s directness and unrelenting pressure on defenses was missed and will be crucial in killing games off in the title run in. Nani is too hot and cold ! We should have put Norwich away much earlier. We are missing the ruthlessness of a more mature team.

  28. Arunrajkumar says:
